Note: This is an optional novella to be read after Hero.

description

I’m naturally wary of novellas as their short length usually doesn’t provide enough of a story or details to make me feel engaged with the characters or plot, but I have to say here the author did a wonderful job of answering some lingering questions I had after finishing Hero.

While the first book explored Cataline and Calvin’s relationship dynamic when she was in captivity, this short novella is about the ups and downs of their lives after reconnecting with each other in the end of Hero. What I liked most about this short story is the author doesn’t shy away from the problems Cataline and Calvin face. They may be together, but that doesn’t take away the bad memories Cataline has from her time in captivity or Calvin’s primal and dark urges that threaten to break her. Their disagreements, their insecurity, and of course, their fierce protectiveness of one another is all detailed here and I love that the author stayed true to these character’s personalities. Despite giving up his role as “hero” of the city, Calvin will always have his dark proclivities and tastes that set him apart from any average male lead, and Cataline will be the heroine who has a willful, stubborn mind. And that’s ok.

Though Hero is a standalone, for some reason I wasn’t quite ready to let go of their story, but with this novella and ending I’m in that place where I can turn the page and close the Cataline and Calvin chapter ♥ ♥ ♥

Oh and this quote, while taken out of context, gave my stomach flutters. If you've read Hero you'll get the meaning and it's every bookworm's dream:

"Wherever we go, you'll get your library."

♥ ♥ ♥

"I've seen the worst of you, and now I get to know the best."
"I think you might be the best of me."

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ HERO YET, PLEASE DO NOT KEEP READING. SPOILERS AHEAD.

I didn't want this story to end. This novella is the perfect extension of Calvin and Cataline's story. After the hell and struggle that these two underwent in Hero, I felt that the story needed a little more focus just on them and their attempt at being together despite their past.

This story had everything that I LOVE in a book, the passion, intrigue, the emotion. I loved seeing them let their walls down for one another and come into their own as a couple. Oh, and it was HOT AS HELL!!! Calvin is still Calvin...and he is one kinky bastard!!

Cataline finally stopped being annoying. And in the end, to her, he really was her Hero!

This is one series I will be reading again, for sure!

I thought that this would wrap up the story, like Calvin & Cataline getting married, having kids or even just dating and stuff. but that didn't happen so I'm kind of disappointed.

More drama = more stars

1 star for Calvin
1 star for Cataline
1 star for the plot, yes, the plot. It's really interesting!!!
1 less star for the ending
1 less star for not being enough.

Well this pretty much takes off 3 years later from where Hero (aka) calvin left Cataline so she could be able to heal from everything that happen to her during her time with him , and during his absence she realizes that she really misses him .
And him being the obsessive yummy alpha he is he just couldnt stay away any longer from her .

They try to make a new life together and calvin tries to become more of a normal man ,but he didn't quite succeed i think he mAybe kinda found more of a balance ,since in the first one i think he was a bit harsh to cataline ,but now he was very understanding but still with his yummy alpha ness ;) .

I really did enjoy this short read i think even more than the first since it was more balanced !

So i give 4 yummy sexy hot alpha calvin stars !

Some sexy Calvin for you ...."

" tonight i own all parts of you ,your nothing more than a little bird caught in my cage"

"Do it am dying to give you the spanking of your life"

" still want to taste yourself "

" this part off you belongs to me i d kill you before any other man could have it"

" ill keep you in this mansion forever ,ill lock all the doors "

And there is alot more of that ;)

"You're good, Calvin. I've seen the worst of you, and now I get to know the best."

"I think you might be the best of me."

I feel better now that I got answers to some of my lingering questions after finishing Hero.

I still think this book can have a perfect sequel:

"You derserve a prince, not a beast."

This novella is a sonnet. A love song. A tribute and cautionary tale wrapped into one for all lovers who knew their love could break and bind them all at once, who choose to walk the tight rope between insanity and absolution.

What happens after breakfast? Three years after her abduction, what happens when Cataline comes face to face with Calvin Parrish again? It’s a giant relief and a delicate dance to determine the future.

“’(N)ow I can see you better.’

‘I’m not sure that’s a good thing.’

I smiled and put my palm to his cheek. ‘It is. You’re good Calvin. I’ve seen the worst of you, and now I get to know the best.’

‘I think you might be the best of me.’”

Calvin knows he’s no good for Cataline, but I think he also knows that he could be her savior, has always been her savior in more ways than one. He will always walk that line between good and evil; he will always be in a battle for his soul. What will save him though, is that he is rooted, utterly and completely in Cataline. She is Calvin’s divining rod, guiding him from God to mortal, from impermeable to porous.

Cataline gives herself entirely to Calvin while at the same time using her submission to fuel her strength. Because she is able to see Calvin in his entirety she is able to convert his inherent dissonance into raw power and then channel that power into herself, into her own journey towards wholeness.

There is still an edge of brutality between Calvin and Cataline that expresses itself most loudly when they come together physically. Their union is barely constrained violence tempered by trust that unravels them both.

This is love story that goes above and beyond any currently understood notions of fairy tales or romance. This is a battle for souls; this is passion given wings and semi-automatic weapons.

Leighton Del Mia has carried on Calvin and Cataline’s story in a gorgeous tale of making it up as they go along. It reached right into me, grabbed hold of my heart and nervous system and is holding them hostage still. And I have no intention of paying the ransom. They are willingly given.

My personal plea to the author? Please keep writing. I cannot wait to read what you give next.

Do yourself a favor and do not read this unless you have read and loved Hero. This novella is really meant as a gift to readers who wanted to know what happened after breakfast. Because of that
Closure, thank you!!! If this is the end, then it is enough. All my questions aren't answered, but it us still enough.

Thank you for staying true to these characters to the final word.
This was a great addition to the Hero story.

And if I'm not mistaken, it sorta hints at a possible next book since the Cartel are starting back up. Either way, it was great seeing how Cataline and Calvin's story has progressed and how their relationship is strengthening. I was pulling for them to work out and I'm glad things are good between them.

I was very thankful for this novella being available right after finishing Hero. I needed more to the story of Calvin and Cataline. I wish that she would have just definitely made up her mind to either be with him and trust him or not - he insecurities about what he was doing brought the story down just a bit as she knew what she was getting into. He tried to change the best that he could but couldn't give up Hero altogether so I don't see why she was so confused when he needed to go out or had the "bad" feelings. Story was left open at the end for more . . . we will see where that take use.

Nice little extra to Hero . It was good closure for those readers who wanted a little something more (like me). It was nice to see that everything didn't magically resolve itself and that the characters still had problems to work out.

Hero is a man who thinks he is supposed to make his city better. Kill the killers, drug lords, and trash. His parents created a formula that made him super human. He'd inject it daily to be the faster, meaner, more enhanced man that could go out and take a bullet without dying. Catalina was his one regret. He didn't save her parents. He was young, his parents had just died, and he had gotten high and wasn't able to do what needed to be done to save them. He was however able to save Cat. Unknown to her he's been watching her since that day. Once the drug cartel realized she meant something to him, the only way to keep her safe was with him. So he kidnapped her and didn't tell her about any of it. After months of imprisonment in his mansion, and several problems later, he finally reveals what he is and why he did it. He also tried to let her go, but his head of security crossed hi and delivered her to the cartel. He got her back and truly let her go. She loved her captor but hated what he did. She wanted to be with him physically, but emotionally he was cut off. She was lost and confused and didn't know what to do. So three years later he returns to her claiming he can't stay away anymore and that he loves her and always has. He hates what he did to her and she tries in the second book (the novella) to learn to love just the man not Hero. That was what she wanted....stop the injections which
He had done that before coming to her. He sold his mansion to stay with her so she didn't have to live in a place wheee she was beat, kept in a cage, or spanked. Eventually she learned to like it, but I think she came to the conclusion he did what he thought was best even if it was twisted. I think that is what got her through and helped her love him. She learned Hero really was just a myth and Calvin was her love. It just took Calvin to see saving the city was not his responsibility and that she meant more to him than the city.

Do yourself a favor and do not read this unless you have read and loved Hero. This novella is really meant as a gift to readers who wanted to know what happened after breakfast. Because of that, this review will inevitably contain spoilers to Hero.

Hero ended in the perfect spot, but I was sttill left wanting more. I was so glad when I heard Leighton was releasing this novella. I just wanted to know where they went from there. Calvin and Cataline were clearly not in a place where they could have a simple HEA with a white picket fence, 2.5 kids and a mini van. Their relationship not only started in a really dark way all those years ago before Cataline even new Calvin existed, but it got even darker as lines between protector/captor/lover/friend were all blurred together.

As Calvin and Cataline try to define who they are apart and who they are as a couple, we get to see more of the emotional impact their pasts have had on who they are in the present. Calvin also has to figure out if he and Hero are in fact two people or if he is both and what that says about him. OK, without ruining the whole plot for you, I will say I am very glad I read this because I feel like I have a better understanding of who they are now both together and apart. I did a happy dance when I realized there is enough open at the end for there to be a sequel to the series. I am really hoping Leighton has decided to go that route.

If you have not read the first book, Hero, please do not read this review, as there might be unintentional spoilers. I am very glad that I read Keep Me after finishing the first book, Hero. Keep Me explores more of Cataline figuring herself out and her response to her experiences at the hands of Calvin. It begins not long after they have gotten back together, and they are trying to figure out how to make them work as a couple, as opposed to their previous roles of captive and captor.

Cataline is still dealing with the fall out of her time at the Mansion, even though three years have past. She had begun to move on with Grant, but, as soon as Calvin walks back into her life, she knows that he is ultimately what she needs now. Only he can answer the darkness inside her - even though he is mostly the cause of it. I am glad to see that she begins to see a therapist and talk about her experiences at his hands. Just as things seem to be settling down for Cataline and Calvin - well, as much as they can for these two - they learn that the cartel seems to be back up and running with a face from their past. I am curious to see if anything happens next with that. This is a short book, as it is a novella, but I felt that it rounded out the story from Hero very well.

Please do not read this if you have not read Hero. This novella answers so many questions about Calvin and his Sparrow. I wanted them to be together, however did not see it working out. The novella is three years after Cataline walked away from Calvin. She has moved on, opened a business and even has a boyfriend. She is living the normal life she always wanted. So why isn't she happy?

Calvin is lost. He needs to protect to live, otherwise he doesn't know what to do with himself. Bottom line, he needs Cataline. Those feelings don't just stop after a lifetime, so he decides to seek her out.

So many issues and feelings to sort out with Cataline and Calvin. I was pulling for them to make it the entire time. There are many doors opened for something more with Cataline, Calvin and the Cartel-fingers crossed. You do not have to read Hero to enjoy this sexy little treat, but you will be missing out of you don't.

4- why can't I have more Calvin and Cataline Stars..

Keep Me is to not be read without reading Hero. Hero must be read first.

I had to know what happened after breakfast, I had to know what happened the next day. Three years, three long years...Calvin finally found a heart and set his caged bird free. But did his heart remain blackened because he had to hunt her sparrow again or does he truly love her. Cataline and Calvin will never be a normal couple or have a normal life. Both have too much in their past including their time together at the mansion. This book did not tie everything up in a little bow, the author leaves just enough for you to use your imagination of what the future will bring for Calvin and Cataline.

In this novella you get a glimpse of what has happened in the last 3 years since Calvin set Cataline free. You also get a hint of what the future may bring. I just hope that since there are still things left unresolved that we will get more Calvin and Cataline.

I loved Hero, so when I saw there was a follow up Novella, I knew I had to read it.

This story is an extension of Hero and you get to see Cataline and Calvin make a go of their relationship. They have to deal with the real world since they aren't in the mansion anymore.

This book was HOT!!! Calvin keeps true to his nature and he is just kinky and over the top (in the best way possible). He struggles to make things work with Cataline in a more realistic setting. They know their relationship borders on insanity and rides the thin line, but they still try to make it work.

I LOVE the ending. I'm not one of those people who needs an HEA with a pretty ribbon tied around it. Just an ending is fine with me. We are given a glimpse into Cataline and Calvin's life afterwards and you are able to draw your own conclusions on what's to come for them.

Keep Me (Hero #1.5) by Leighton Del Mia
I REALLY liked Hero & then I read the novella because Leighton Del Mia was right I did want that glimpse at what happened after breakfast. I am glad it wasn’t all roses & white picket fences. They had to work through the issues in their relationship which gave it a real feel. I enjoyed it. I also believe she gave us a little hint that a next book will be coming since we learn a little something about the cartel. NOPE, I’m NOT telling I don’t do spoilers! Upon finishing it I realized it was just right! Not too much & not too little...I'm satisfied 3 – 3.5 stars

After reading "Hero" I knew I had to read this to see what happened after breakfast. I'm glad Leighton didn't just give them a baby and they lived happily ever after in the mansion. Instead she showed us the dark and gritty parts of the captor and captive forming a relationship. I must say I didn't like that he retired from being a superhero,in fact my nerdy comic book loving side hated it. I wasn't surprised that the cartel was forming again and none other than Guy was the ringleader. I still have unanswered questions about Guy`s actions during the kidnapping. I wonder if he's going to get his own dark and twisted story...hmm?;)

Cataline and Calvin...there could not be two more messed up disfunctional people in any book I have ever read. I realize Cataline was held captive for 13 weeks. I cannot imagine what that would have been like. But she was a pampered spoiled captive in my opinion, who gave as good as she got. She is very manipulative and screwed up. The cutting thing? Pot smoking? After three years and dating a psychologist? I just could not sympathize with her in this novella and I just did not like her at all. I really should have stopped at the first book which I really liked. This was just some psychotic soap opera of two people who should never have reunited. It was a chore to get through.

This is a follow up sequel from the book Hero, and should only be read after completing that book.

I could see a way to tie up a few loose ends from Hero but those are not done, Leighton instead teases and tantalises us with tastes of action and passion but not enough to fulfil the need.

This is a great addition and does let you get a glimmer of what could be but leaves way too many open ends for me.
The book has action, suspense and lust but I'm hoping this is a quick stop gap before another book to answer all those questions is released.

I was left so worried at the end of Hero, wondering if they actually make it or not.. Keep Me answered all my questions. This is a twisted and complicated LOVE story that I couldn't get enough of!! I would read at the dinner table on my phone, during movie night on my Kindle and lying in bed reading on my tablet lol!! I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE looking for a twisted, far above average LOVE story!!! <3

So now Im left with all these unanswered questions! Is Calvin still sterile, where is Guy Fowler and what is the Cartel planing? Will Calvin feel the need to be Hero again due to new information received? It's like I've just read a half finished book.
Is Leighton Del Mia planning a book 2? Hero was originally a stand alone book and Keep Me was a fun follow up for readers. I'm hoping for a book 2 so these questions get answered.

This is the perfect ending.

The only problem i have is that the story is not over. The cartel is getting stronger and who is to say that Guy will not come looking for Calvin and Cataline? Will they truly be able to move forward after they found peace together? Will Calvin have to become Hero again? What will it cost them if Hero has no choice but to return?

So many questions!!! No answers!

I was pretty happy with the story. Hero was groveling. Heroine was going through normal behavior regarding her kidnapping.

What ruined it for me? Stop if you don't want any details. The heroine did a complete 180. Before she acted like a victim with PTSD. Suddenly all the horrible things he did are turning her on. Hero was even looking at her like she grew two heads. That killed it for me. You don't go from having a panic attack at the site of a candle to "be gentle this time"?!

Cat and Calvin are still a work in progress. They meet up after 3 yrs and things aren't as easy as saying I love you and I miss you. They are still trying to heal and memories of the past keep piping up and making things harder but somehow they find a way. Still a work in progress. Great book and wanting to read more about these two. Hoping for more to come soon.

I'm not sure what the point of this novella was because it only left things even more unresolved than the previous book. Cat is still too confused about her feelings for him and can't figure out what or who she wants. By the end of this very short book we discover there is yet more danger lurking for them so what now? Another book!?!?
