A 'your nemesis is teaming up with mine, so I guess we should do the same' story that works pretty well despite the cliche. It looks great, and whilst it plays out rather predictably, the journey to the end is littered with fun.

lots of 'contrasting feelings' on this one, I would rate this only on 4 outta 5, but the descent to hell (as well, as the trip down to memory-lane of the 80s/gothic london) of Constantine's, and then a surprise with the final 'return' of the serial killer, to some short of Mucca-drawn alike, heaven domain, elevates it to 4.5

I would gladly read it again, and again.. haha Best to not hold this ,as a keepsake and hand it to my friends also

I really enjoyed this book. I am not familiar with Dylan Dog, but he comes across as an interesting/charming character. Though it was Batman that made this story for me.

With everything going on in the current Batman books, it was great to see the classic Batman. Alfred, Bruce Wayne rich, Batman feared as the criminal bogeyman and Batman winning fights.

The Joker receives a letter from an "old friend." Of course, the nemesis (thought dead nemesis) of Dylan Dog. This is a trip to London for the Joker, and where the Joker goes Batman will follows. However, could even the Joker have bitten off more than he can chew?

The artwork matches the story perfectly, with great characters, lots of guest stars, and plenty of action. An all round great enjoyable book. The book finishes with a varient cover gallery.

Dredd).

This was a super fun read. The story is nothing groundbreaking but it's really well crafted, and Batman and Dylan work SO GOOD together.

But the absolute star of the book is the art and the coloring. Vibrant, intense, emotional, it grips you with such a tight storytelling that the book just flows.

Highly recommend it even if you have no idea who Dylan Dog is!

Batman’s had more than his share of crossovers over the years and at this point DC are scraping the bottom of the barrel with this latest one. That’s right, it’s the crossover nobody asked for, featuring a character most English comics readers will be thinking “...who?”: Dylan Dog.

I’m not gonna pretend I’m all that familiar with the character. Dark Horse put out a Dylan Dog omnibus some time ago, largely because I think Mike Mignola’s a fan of this Italian comic (Hellboy’s basically a better version of Dylan Dog), which I read a few pages of and put down pretty quickly (corn-ee). And I feel like most Batman readers didn’t even do that so this will all be new to them - a first and likely last experience with this blah character.

So Dylan Dog is a “nightmare investigator” which means he’s a PI whose cases involve the undead, whom he shoots, and that’s that. Rinse and repeat for however many years he’s been doing this. Fascinating. In this crossover, Catwoman is kidnapped by Professor Xabaras, one of Dylan Dog’s rogues and who apparently had something to do with Joker’s physical appearance post-Red Hood, and Batman goes to save her, with Dylan Dog.

Later, another Dylan Dog rogue, Christopher Killex, is back from hell somehow and back doing his thang: cutting people up to see if he can see their souls in their bodies. Batman and Dylan Dog, etc. etc.

The story is often vague, meandering, lacking any real tension or purpose and things seem to happen for no reason or get discarded without a second thought. It just feels like a lot of confused nothing being thrown together to make it seem like an exciting narrative is happening. It isn’t - it’s always a boring, unengaging read.

There is something to the stylish art of Gigi Cavenago and Werther Dell’Edera that I liked - a European flair that you don’t always see in American comics - but Roberto Recchioni’s dull script made Batman/Dylan Dog an utterly pointless crossover.

--

EN Being a fan of both characters, this was undoubtedly a read that caught my interest.

The story takes place mostly in London, Dylan Dog’s city, where the Joker attempts to form an alliance with one of the classic villains from the London detective's rogues' gallery. As a result, Batman is inevitably drawn into the chase, leading to a team-up between two of the most iconic detectives in the world.

Although I appreciate the colour palette used in this story, I must admit I prefer reading Dylan Dog in black and white — it’s a tone that, in my opinion, suits the atmosphere of his stories much better. Perhaps this work would have benefitted from a darker visual approach, almost like Sin City.

Even so, it’s an easy read, with a simple but engaging plot. A solid title, mainly aimed at fans of both characters — pure fan service, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I w sumie dobrze.

My first thought, when I saw this: well, I suppose Dylan has experience of an annoying prick tagging along on his cases. Except it turns out that his sidekick Felix, who so irritated me in the Dark Horse translations, was an obfuscation for rights reasons! And whether it's being restored to Groucho proper, complete with 'tache, or a different writer (Roberto Recchioni, not a name I know), he's far more amusing here. Similarly, for all his usual silliness about firearms – even while facing a zombie horde – the Bat turns out to work pretty well as the most determinedly po-faced of straight men to the dithering, quipping nightmare Investigator. It helps, too, that they're using the same rules as the Who/Trek crossover, where everything from the better franchise outclasses anything from the junior partner; I particularly liked Batman's exasperation at how much more unmanageable and unknowable London is even than Gotham. But what really makes it is the art team, headlined by Gigi Cavenago and Werther dell'Edera, who between them can swing from colourful Adam West extravaganzas to deep gothic and even an unexpected moment of Mucha. So as it turns out, my biggest criticism of the project in fact concerns the handling of another participant in the crossover whom (not having read the blurb) I wasn't expecting to see, whom I normally like more than either headliner, and who makes perfect sense as a bridge between them, but who as in a number of recent projects, really didn't seem to be himself here.

Y conocerlos bastante a fondo.

Well, somehow the ISBN I found took me to this edition and not the English one. Nothing against Italian, but I've never been able to read Italian, and I've forgotten most of the Italian a former partner taught me.

The edition disclaimer now out of the way, I have a little familiarity with Dylan Dog from when Dark Horse Comics did English editions of a trio of Bonelli characters. Dog is billed in this story as a nightmare investigator, and hey Batman all by himself has caused nightmares.

But, the nightmare in question is Dog's longtime nemesis Xabaras who has found his way to The Joker.

The overall friends in peril, villain vs. hero parts of the story didn't engage me a whole lot. the interchanges between Batman and Dog were entertaining, especially Dog's view that Batman and his world is just a little bit nuts all by itself.

A nice piece was the inclusion of DC character John Constantine who is probably a better fit for Dog story, and if they did a Dog/Constantine tale I would read that.

Looove the art. So dif. Like Picasso made more spindly, bright & realistic. Turns of phrase are cute, punchy, recontectualizing Hell and monsters. The demons are drawn more realistic/in depth than the humans (assume that’s a commentary).

Dylan and his assistant Groucho seem like weird world Bat & Alfred, but sillier, more open to killing and conning and the occult. Dylan knows the dr who helped out Joker long ago accept his monsterous appearance as a strength, and now they’re teamed up on research venom. The doc wants immortality but Joker is always about zombies. I’d like more of those two than punky Dylan and unfunny Groucho who is routinely called out as such. Bat has cartoon quips (as in better than the comics usually paint him).

London setting. Catwoman with old pug eyes, Constantine who looks so Wolf Among Us. The serial killer like Hannibal meets the wheelchair Dr of Sally’s from Nightmare Before Xmas. So the end…implies he wrote the letter to Joker, right?

Batman and Italian comic character Dylan Dog team up when the Joker heads to London to join up with Dr. Xabaras. Dog is a self proclaimed nightmare investigator digging into the supernatural. I do like that they open this up to some other DC characters besides just Batman. This kind of feels like a couple of different stories slapped together though. The art in the first issue is rough at times, especially the coloring.

Generally nice art (though it’s sometimes hard to parse) and a couple of neat DC cameos are what this has going for it. The writing feels corny and flat, though; I’m not sure if that’s a translation issue or a problem with the original dialogue, but either way I wasn’t a fan. The tone definitely feels more like what I assume an Italian Dylan Dog comic is like (with a bit of superficial Gotham set dressing) than a Batman comic with a cameo from an Italian comic superstar.

Better than expected. Lovely art work and pretty solid story combining the worlds of Batman and Dylan Dog. The story featured components of both characters. I sure wish somebody would be brave and publish the Dylan Dog library in English. I have a handful of the books and they are all truly fun reads.

Fun book. Long time since I gave a shit about Batman, but I did enjoy the couple Dylan Dog translations I got my hands on twenty-odd years ago when Dark Horse translated it. Enjoyed Dylan, Constantine, and Etrigan's journey into Hell best in the book, although they gave Batman some good lines about being prepared and Robin's delicate stomach. LOL

I found this after I had just read a few Dylan Dog comics, and boy I was not disappointed! The art was absolutely stunning, it took me a lot longer to read because I was mesmerized by it. The story was a lot of fun and very well paced, it was hard to put down. The characters were all written well and had fun interactions. This was a very fun crossover and I very much enjoyed it.

Really fun!! Gigi Cavenago's pages are filled with personality and matched the vibe perfectly. The story itself was simple and predictable for the most part but as a Batman fan and recent Dylan Dog appreciator, I had a great time all the way through.
