Ask anyone in town for the best guy to rev your engine and they’ll point to me. Ask anyone who’s read a book or watched TV, or hell… Any human with a pulse knows Brooke Braham is America’s top advice guru. I don’t need a PhD to see I shouldn’t fall for the famous shrink. It’s not like an auto shop owner can’t run with the rich and beautiful, but guess what? Turns out the good doc and I share more than scorching chemistry. She lost her sister in the worst way, and I— Well, let’s just say it messes with a guy to learn his dead addict mom isn’t. Dead, I mean. Who knew? Not my big pack of rowdy brothers. My sister might’ve sensed it, but I had a different take. One I’ve never told anyone. There’s stuff I should take to the grave, but Brooke’s got me all up in my feelings. Turns out they aren’t just below the belt. She’s funny and smart and loves my big, doofy dog. But we can’t get involved. It says so right there in her book. Love’s not for folks facing major life messes, which is us in a nutshell. So much for sexy sand sledding lessons that can’t lead to more. Ditto for using my childhood tire swing in ways that would make a mechanic blush. I can’t fall for Brooke, no matter what my busted-up heart believes. I’m a guy with a rep for fixing anything. Almost anything. Let’s not dwell. The last thing Brooke needs is me rescuing her like she’s some damsel in distress. But what if we’re meant to save each other? One click this opposites-attract romantic comedy with a small-town mechanic who might just be the soulmate for a famous advice guru.

Heartache and humor go hand in hand.”

I love love love visiting Cherry Blossom Lake so I was so excited to dive into this.
Kaleb has actually taken my number one spot of all of TF’s characters. I loved his ruggedness but also his sensitivity and introspection. The spark with Brooke was instantaneous and was so powerful. These two needed each other and the way they supported each other was so heartwarming.
I first heard about Tawna Fenske in August of 2015 when her book "About That Fling" was featured as a "Kindle First." I have fallen in love with the way that she tells a story. Her characters are fun, and even ones you may not like at first tend to grow on you. Since then, I have read anything that I have found by Tawna.
After being introduced to Kaleb in “Try Me,” I was so excited to find out more about him. In the other books he was featured in, it always seemed like there was something that was simmering under the surface. It was interesting to see just how right I was about that. I truly enjoyed seeing the relationship between Brooke and Kaleb progress.
I have to reiterate that Tawna is my favorite romantic comedy writer. One of the things that I know whenever I pick up a Tawna Fenske book is that, while there can be serious moments and subject matter, there will always be moments that make you absolutely laugh out loud. Also, even though there are some heavy aspects, it always feels organic. I never feels like something like that was added to the book just for emotions sake. It always feels like a necessary part of the story. This book was no exception. I’m extremely excited to know that there is still more to come from the Spencer-King family saga!
**A received an advanced reader copy for my honest review**
The series continues with Kaleb and his journey to forgive his mom. A familiar stranger will win his heart and together they will heal. Brooke is just what Kaleb needed. We get all the characters we already know and love and a few more added to the mix. Sweet story of healing and learning to let go.
Ask Me is the fourth installment in the Cherry Blossom Lake series. All the books in this wonderful series can be read as stand-alones, but honestly, you’d have much more fun reading the entire series. I think the subtitle of this one could be “Advice guru, heal thyself!”
The series, by one of my absolutely favorite rom-com writers, Tawna Fenske (I’ve read all her books), focuses on the lives and loves of the Spencer-King siblings and other family members. Spencer-King brother and auto shop owner Kaleb, and his romance with best-selling “advice guru” Brooke Braham, takes center stage and it’s quite a ride. Literally.
Struggling with writer’s block, Brooke comes to Cherry Blossom Lake to work on her next book, while still dealing with the loss of her beloved sister, Grace. Needing a tow, she meets Kaleb, who has a big, loving heart and is his family’s “Mr. Fix-It,” while struggling to come to terms with, and understanding, his own issues from his past. The last thing either of them are looking for is a relationship, but their chemistry practically leaps off the page. So, let the fun and yes, lots of tears begin. Ms. Fenske masterfully weaves humor, lust, family, friendships, and gut-wrenching heartbreak into a story filled with revelations, emotional baggage (not just one suitcase, but an entire baggage carousel) that ultimately leads to understanding, healing and love.
The dialogue is always so spot-on and the characters (main and secondary) are multi-dimensional, engaging, and so very likeable. I would love to go to one of their family dinners! For comic relief, Tawna usually introduces a new “pet” into the mix, which in this case, is Ribsy the dog, who Kaleb rescues from an abusive owner. I’m already looking forward to returning to Cherry Blossom Lake for the next installment of this terrific series. I received an advanced reader’s copy and have voluntarily provided this honest review.
What is it about this series? I swear, my favorite one is always the one I just finished. And then she puts out another one...
(Zero complaints, mind you. I'm just sayin')
Kaleb's book was all that I'd hoped it would be--both from the excerpt at the end of book 3 and from seeing him play his part in everyone else's book. "Mr. Fixit" finds his own HEA and manages to do fixer-upper/make things better things for himself for a change? Yes, please! And Brooke's long and painful journey toward healing her own pain and grief hit so many chords. Absolutely pitch perfect <3
I honestly can't think of a single thing in this book I didn't love--I lost track of how many lines made me snort-laugh. "There's a title for my next book/a chapter in your next book" got me every time. Harper's deadpan delivery of what her family's curse words will drive her to do (steal stuff from 7-11, skip school to sell guns from her bedroom) will never get old. Heck, even when Kaleb was throwing happiness away with both hands, I knew he had reasons. And his grand (also mostly private) gesture to "fix" things? Had me in tears. The happy kind, of course.
And then we got to the preview for Take Me, which I'm sorry, I'm gonna need ASAP. A fake dating friends-to-lovers story surrounded by the weddings of almost everyone else in the series? Hell, yes, please--bring it on!
(Since Ms Fenske is not actually bringing it on just yet, you have plenty of time to get caught up on this series if you haven't read them all yet. Yes, of course this book--and probably Mason's--can be read as a standalone. But seriously, don't do that to yourself. The family dynamics and drama here are spot on, and you won't want to miss a minute of it! #sorrynotsorry)
Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
ASK ME is the fourth instalment in Tawna Fenske’s contemporary adult CHERRY BLOSSOM LAKE erotic, romance series. This is mechanic Kaleb Spencer-King, and author/influencer / media psychologist Brooke Braham’s story line. ASK ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Kaleb and Brooke) ASK ME follows Brooke Braham’s visit to Cherry Blossom Lake, the site of a tremendous loss but meeting Kaleb Spencer-King felt like meeting a kindred spirit, a man who knows loss first hand. As their relationship begins to develop, Brooke is pulled into the dysfunctional Spencer-King family, a family where she feels at home but Brooke’s time in Cherry Blossom Lake comes with an expiry date, and our couple are refusing to acknowledge the proverbial elephant in the room.
The world building focuses on love and loss, grief and guilt. The Spencer-King family has struggled with lies, loss, betrayal and guilt .Unable to get past the betrayal of someone close, Kaleb battles between head and heart, struggling with issues of trust but Kaleb’s mistrust is equaled by Brooke’s inability to let go for the grief and guilt of her own loss.
The relationship between Brooke and Kaleb is one of immediate attraction and commiseration over similar yet different losses. Kaleb continues to struggle with a former betrayal, and Brooke abides by her own rules regarding grief and loss. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Kaleb’s siblings, as well as their struggling mother; Brooke’s assistant Maxine.
ASK ME is a story of secrets and lies, loss and grief, family and relationships, forgiveness and love. The premise is riveting and enthralling; the characters are broken and struggling; the romance is seductive and passionate.
I mean that literally. I sat at my kitchen counter, on my couch, the break room at work... and legit Laughed out Loud so many times with this book. Which, might feel a little weird considering the FMC is writing a book about grief after the loss of her sister and the MMC is struggling with the knowledge that the mom he thought passed away years ago is back from the dead. Or, well, she never really died but her brother told her kids she did... it's a whole thing.
A thing you need to read. 😏
Tawna is amazing at taking serious topics and giving them a humorous spin. She's the queen at this. From the first page--where Brooke mistakenly sends a text referring to sparkly n!ppl3 tassels to the guy who's just there to tow her car-- we're alternating between laughing at the characters and wondering what's going to happen next.
This book does hit on some serious stuff. Loss of a loved one. A parent struggling (in the past) with addiction and what that looks like for their family. Without giving too much away, I can say that I loved how much these two main characters were open and honest throughout. And real! So real. Brooke's blinded to some of life and relationships BECAUSE she's so smart and knowledgeable about them. Kaleb is known as Mr. Fixit-- a moniker he loves at the same time loathes. He's aware of this about himself and yet he can't help falling for the advice guru.
This is the 4th book in the series. While you don't necessarily have to read books 1, 2, & 3 to thoroughly enjoy this one, I will say that you'll want to. If this is the first book you pick up, don't worry; it's great as a stand alone; but, when you're done, go ahead and one-click the first three!
In addition to that teaser heading, this book was one of my favorite books out of about 100 read from the past couple of years. While many people would simply relegate this book as a romance title, it is so much more than that. The book has such great content from top to bottom. I was amazed at the complexity of the scenarios that the main characters were navigating. They were both written with such honesty and realism at times this book reads more as a light fiction read than romance. However, at its core and underneath the difficult situations for the two main characters there are still the hallmark features of a book by Tawna Fenske. You get to enjoy those laugh out loud, fun, crazy, offbeat scenarios and certainly some good steamy romance moments too. This entire series at its foundation is set in family. That comes through loud and clear again in this book. I love that with this author I get both things, I get funny and enjoyable romance but a story and characters with enough substance that the book never feels like it is just following a routine formula or outline (and trust me, I have abandoned some of those). I try really hard to write my reviews so that they do not contain spoilers so I’ll just say that Brooke and Kaleb are a great pair. While they navigate their lives and their blooming relationship, they manage to help each other through some very big and meaningful life scenarios for each of them. That means that this book also has some intense and very heart tugging moments as well. I can’t say enough good things about this book and am impressed by the end product. It more than exceeded my expectations!
Brooke Braham lands in Cherry Blossom Lake with one thing one her mind, to heal her grieving heart and find a cure for her writers block. Losing her sister was something she was not prepared for, it's a loss that haunts her everyday. She knows her grief is holding her back and keeping her from finding the words, but maybe her publisher is right and a stay in this charming little town will help her find her way again... or change her life in ways she never saw coming.
Ask Me was a very emotional literary journey for me, as I too have lost my sister (and niece) in a very tragic and unexpected way. As I read Brooke's story I found myself relating to her in many ways, understanding her pain on a different level and also understanding that grief interferes in your life and makes it hard to sometimes do the things you love to do. For me it has effected my love of reading. I have always used books as my escape, and somedays my grief keeps me from being able to focus on the words and being able to find that escape... which is very frustrating for a book nerd like me.
Watching Brooke find her way back to the words, heal her ailing heart, and find love was not only uplifting, but gave me hope too. Hope that maybe someday it will be a little easier to pick up a book and not have to worry about my grief interfering.
This was such a wonderful addition to the series, it had moments that put a smile on my face, made me swoon, and also brought me a sense of joy that I really needed! Highly recommend you meet the folks of Cherry Blossom Lake, they will steal your heart at first meet!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I’m so happy to go back to the “Cherry Blossom Lake” series and to read Kaleb’s story. “Ask Me” is a romantic, heartfelt and laugh out loud rom-com that is a fantastic addition to the series.
Kaleb is the town mechanic and is always ready to help family, friends or anyone in town. When his next call is to Brooke Braham, he’s there to help. Brooke is a famous advice guru with a PhD to back it up and she’s in Cherry Blossom Lake to get over her writer’s block. But from the two these two meet, there’s an instant chemistry. Both are in tough spots in their personal lives and a relationship is the last thing either needs but they can’t stay away from each other.
Once I started this book, I could not put it down. I loved Kaleb from the previous book and I was patiently waiting for his story. He’s an amazing brother and was always willing to put his family first. He wanted their happiness to always be there even if that meant keeping a secret from them. Kaleb is smart, protective and has the biggest heart, I loved him with his dog, Ribsy. Brooke is someone that I connected with right away and I just loved her so much. She’s kind, caring and wants to be able to help everyone she can with her books. Despite the tragic way she lost her sister, Grace, she continues to help people even though writing about that part of her life leaves her with a big case of writer’s block. Brooke and Kaleb have a hilarious first meeting and I was laughing and swooning from the very beginning. They connect on an emotional level because of some of the secrets that they shared and I loved these two together so much. I’m already counting down the days to next book in the series.
#Celebrity #HealingLove #OppositesAttract #FamilySeries #SmallTown #ARC Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. Set on the Oregon coast, this story encompasses themes of friendship grief, guilt, denial, secrets, forgiveness, healing, and living life fully. Brooke is a celebrity advice guru who is grieving the sudden passing of her younger sister. Kaleb is a small-town mechanic trying to come to terms with his mother being back in his life. There are secrets revealed as these two characters form a friendship and support each other at difficult times in both their lives. They are seriously hot for each other and their text meeting was epic. They both need to get to a better place emotionally to make a relationship work. “Don’t end up regretting conversations you never had with people you love.” Other things I loved about this book: • Kaleb and Brooke both are damaged and need each other to heal. There are some seriously touching and emotional moments. • Al Fresco oral (#tireswingsforever) • Ribsy the Great Dane rescue • Kaleb’s restored 1966 Bronco • The author’s handling of grief and the process felt authentic and was handled well. This is my favorite book of the series so far. Thank you Tawna for a wonderful book that left me so emotional that it took me days to write the review. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
Ask Me is book 4 in the Cherry Blossom Lake series and follows Kaleb Spencer-King as he deals with secrets he has been keeping from his family.
Kaleb is angry. Angry at his uncle. Angry at his mother. Angry at circumstances beyond his control.
When his mother re-enters the lives of the Spencer-King children, they are shocked. But Kaleb does everything to avoid her at all costs. But why?
When he gets a tow call, he is shocked at the customer. The famous podcaster, author and relationship therapist Brooke Braham. It seems all of the Spencer-Kings know who Brooke is and are so excited that Kaleb is helping her.
I had to laugh so hard at Lucy. All she wants is Brooke as her new sister in law and this is before they ever even go on a date. Kaleb is just doing his job by helping her get a new key for her car after her little mishap in the muddy lake.
He does not want to like Brooke, but he is drawn to her. They both agree to be friends based on a quote from one of her books. But can they really only be friends?
Brooke helps Kaleb deal with his feelings for his mom. She does not know the full story, but she listens to him. In the same way, Kaleb is there for Brooke and helps her deal with her loss. He shows the truth about what really happened. He was not there when it happened, but he knows what happened based on location, time and conditions.
Ask Me is a roller coaster of emotions. Laughing, crying, anger, relief, forgiveness and families reuniting. Be prepared to share these emotions with the characters as you read this book. You will be drawn in to this story and in to their worlds.
I love returning to Cherry Blossom Lake and the hilarious Spencer-King family. Ask Me is Kaleb's story. He's not only the local mechanic, but he's the "Fix-It" guy. If there's something that needs to be done, Kaleb is the guy that will make it happen. Famous self help author Brooke Braham is living in Cherry Blossom Lake temporarily. Her publisher sent her there to work on her next book but Brooke has been struggling. She's hasn't fully processed the death of her younger sister and wonders how can she help others when she's struggling to help herself process her grief. After a disaster with her car, Brooke and Kaleb meet in a very unique way and that's when changes really start to happen to both their lives. Kaleb has been dealing with a lot of internal family issues for years and rather than process them fully, he has buried them. So how are these two going to make a go of a relationship when they aren't in the right frame of mind? Ask Me was very good at giving us a story of two fractured people that portray to the outside world that "everything is great" when in reality they're breaking inside. There's so much laughter and love in Kaleb and Brooke's story that it balances out the pain that these two characters have been through. It was told from dual POV and stands alone in the series however, I do recommend reading them all.
“Out!” Kaleb’s voice booms off the walls. “Now.” "We all turn to face him, and my heart gives a lurch. This is what fierce Kaleb looks like. I’d be scared if I wasn’t kinda turned on."
Tawna Fenske’s Ask Me is a heartfelt, opposites-attract, found family romance. Brooke Braham is a well-known shrink, self-help expert, and podcast host. Brooke is in Cherry Blossom to write and process her grief after a devastating loss. Kaleb is the broody mechanic and the Spencer-King family's “Mr. fix-it”. Still reeling from the decades-long drama he and his family have been through, Kaleb prefers his solitude. That is until a goofy Great Dane and an irresistible, adorkable shrink collide into his quiet life. Kaleb and Brooke’s first encounter was unique and quirky, and made me snort-laugh…everything I love in a meet-cute! Sparks fly when the guarded & crunchy cinnamon roll meets the beguiling but closed-off shrink. Tawna’s storytelling is a lovely blend of small-town charm, gut-wrenching backstories, humor, and oodles of swoon. Kaleb is a complex, gruff, relatable, and deliciously charismatic crunchy cinnamon roll. Brooke is a delightful, guilt-stricken, brilliant, compassionate FMC and a dazzling addition to the Vulvarines. If you enjoy heartfelt, refreshing, sweet, and healing small-town romance, Kaleb and Brooke’s HEA should be your next read!
I love it when one of my favorite authors comes out with a new book! I love it even more when I have access to an advanced reading copy. Bliss! (Not that I don't still buy it once it's released, because I always want my own copy in my home library.)
I've come to expect a healthy dose of heat, heart, and hilarity from Tawna Fenske's books, and wow, does she ever deliver it with ASK ME. Brooke and Kaleb may each have their own issues, but they are imperfectly perfect together. Their heartwarming chemistry is off the charts. Both have been traumatized by life events, and both are very good at fixing things for other people while ignoring their own emotional needs -- until they meet each other (in the most hilarious way!) and, after a few bumps along the road to happiness, realize they might just be able to fill the emotional potholes in each other. So very satisfying!
The supporting cast (many of whom we know from earlier books in the Cherry Blossom Lake series) are also featured, and provide a wonderfully familiar backdrop to the story. If you need mental vacation during the busy holiday season ahead (or anytime, really), I highly recommend ASK ME.
This romance has the perfect MMC. Kaleb is hot, helpful and can fix anything. He owns the local auto shop and is a good listener. Brooke is a famous psychologist and advice guru. She’s only in town temporarily, and then will go back to her high-profile life and a speaking tour. Her publisher rented a mansion for her on Cherry Blossom Lake to work on a new book. These characters are well-written, engaging and likeable, but both of them are also working through issues. Brooke is struggling with grief, loneliness and writer’s block after her sister died in an auto accident nearby. Kaleb’s mother was an addict who abandoned her kids, who were told their mom had died. His mother is actually alive, has been through rehab and wants to try to reconnect with her kids. This book has plenty of adult heat, friendship, humor, and wonderful characters. Brooke and Kaleb manage to help each other heal, even though they have very different lives so a HEA seems impossible. This book offers many life-tips without being preachy. Loved and recommend this romance! I received a copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ask Me is the fourth installment in the Cherry Blossom Lake series and it is my favorite of the series. I loved the first interaction between Brooke and Kaleb, it is hilarious. Once I started this book I was hooked from the beginning. I did not want to put it down. Kaleb is an amazing brother and always there for those that he cares about. I vaguely remember from the previous book how affected he was when someone unexpected popped back up in his siblings' life. He has a secret that he hated keeping from them. I loved how protective Kaleb is of animals and what he does for Ribsy.
Brooke was a strong character who is trying to get over the death of her sister. She lost her sister in a tragic way and vowed to write a book about how she is coping with the loss of her sister in order to help others. I think that Kaleb helped heal her in more ways than he realizes and she healed him. I believe that neither of them would have been able to cope the way that they did without the other. I loved these two together and I was sad to see their story end. I am looking forward to more from this series.
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from Tawna Fenske.
When a book pulls all the emotions out, you know it is a good one. When you love it – though it made you cry hard (repeatably) – you know it’s a great one…
Brooke was a professional sage, offering advice and words of wisdom about life and how to live it. When faced with a devastating loss, everything she knows is put into question. Including her ability to help others… Kaleb didn’t think he was intellectual – his world revolved around fixing things, not people. With his complicated family life (if you’ve read books in this series you know just how complicated it is!), he has no emotions to invest in a relationship. They both aren’t ready for love, or commitment or much of anything right now but… Love has its way…
Each book in this series has had its own unique flavour and spark and this one was no exception. From their first hilarious encounter, Brooke and Kaleb carved out their own corner and made it their own. While this was a rom-com and had me laughing out loud often, it also had moments that broke my heart. Darn this author (aka THANK YOU) for making me feel ALL THE FEELS.
This is the 4th book in the Cherry Blossom Lake series. For me this was one of the most emotional one in the series. Kaleb is having major issue with mother coming back from the dead and the guilt that goes with it. Brooke is dealing with her own guilt about her siste Grace's death. He is the owner of his own auto shop and she writes self help books. They are brought together because is she news a new fob for her car and of course it's Kaleb that comes to help her. They start to talking and enjoying each other company. They are also very attracted to each other and start and sexual relationship but as in all of Tawna's book it turns into so much more. They get together with family and the bascially adopt Brooke and she loves it but feels guilty about not being that close with hers but of her sister death. Kaleb ends up breaking up with her because of his issues with people leaving after she tells him she has to go back to LA. He finds gets his head out of his butt after talking to Mason As you know... they get their happy ending
You say ‘assistant’ like you’re embarrassed to have one...Like you’ve farted in public or rubbed one out at the dining room table.
Brooke smiles, and my heart flops like a dying fish.
Sometimes you have to say things out loud so they don’t eat you up inside.
This must be what Grace loved so much about travel. Not the places, but the connections. These bright, fragile threads tying people together.
You make me the very best version of myself.
My Review:
This was an absolute joy to read, I giggle-snorted and hummed my way through this delightfully scintillating and cleverly amusing tale. The writing was whip-smart, flawlessly witty, titillating, perceptive, and keenly parsed with sensitivity for real-life issues, while also being easy to follow, well-paced, perfectly pitched, and well-honed. Who could ask for more?
I have savored each book in this series and while I thought her last book was her best ever, I do believe my favorite wordsmith has topped herself. This agile storyteller’s craft keeps getting better at an exponential level.
"But yes, I stand by that advice. When you're processing major upheaval like the death of a loved one, there's imminent risk in mixing in the emotional turmoil of romantic entanglement."
And with that sentiment, how in the world can Brooke and Kaleb begin a relationship? But here we are. What they think can just be fling, develops into so much more.
Brooke is still grieving the loss of her sister. Avoiding her family, trying to write a book and wanting to hide away.
Kaleb, happy-go-lucky as always, but inside, feels the completely betrayal of the mom that chose to leave him. Even though he's an adult now, it still cuts deep. Now that she's back and wants to make amends, it's so very complicated.
Brooke and Kaleb lean on each other and learn from each other while Brooke visits Cherry Blossom Lake. Knowing they shouldn't get in too deep, but following that rule may be more complicated.
I am really enjoying this series! This is such a great addition!
Back to Cherry Blossom Lake we go, for Kaleb and Brooke’s story. As always, it’s filled with both laugh out loud moments as well as a tear or two. For as different as they are…he’s an auto repair shop owner while she is an author and psychologist…both are dealing with a traumatic experience in their own lives. That’s what bonds them and it’s fun to watch tha5 relationship grow. While new readers can absolutely enjoy their story without reading the previous books in the series, those of us who have been here from the beginning get to see how an overarching plot point continues. That’s one of my very favorite things about Tawna’s books… besides the humor and heat! Every series book flows so well, whether you start at the beginning or join somewhere in between. Kaleb and Brooke were wonderful and I loved watching them grow as individuals and as a couple.
Kaleb is having difficulty accepting the family secret that has recently been revealed both for the effect it had in the past when it happened and the effect it is having in the present. He is a man who always puts those he cares about first especially when it comes to his siblings. When Brooke comes into his life, he knows that with everything going on he should keep his distance but that is easier said than done.
Brooke’s reasons for coming to town are to finish her book and make peace with a tragic loss. She is good with helping other people deal with their emotions, but it will take Kaleb and his caring heart to show her how to deal with hers.
Kaleb and Brooke’s journey finds the perfect balance between humor and emotion. Not only do they help each other heal from the past but they show each other how wonderful family and a future with each other will be.
I have loved every visit to Cherry Blossom Lake and this one is no different. I absolutely loved Brooke and Kaleb. From their memorable meeting to their friendship or should I say attraction these two were just fabulous together. They both had losses in their life that made them connect over and also help each other deal with those losses. Even though Brooke was the self help guru Kaleb equally helped her with her troubles. Brooke finding a new found family of girlfriends was wonderful and see Kaleb’s family again was great. This was a wonderful story and I am loving this family. I am hoping that Mason’s story is next and I have my fingers crossed for who his love interest may be. Then I am hoping for Hazel’s story after.
Brooke is the advice guru everyone in the world expects to be perfect. But the death of her sister has her feeling everything but. She heads to Oregon to be near her sister’s last location.
Kaleb has his own secrets. His mom’s disappearance for years has made him close himself off. A text misunderstanding with Brooke brings the two together. Though they commit to just being friends, they feel much more than that.
Can two grieving people find a lasting love?
Tawna Fenske always writes books with humor and romance. Yet she also manages to delve deeply into the psyche of humans and how our emotions, especially love and grief, make us the best and worst we can be.
Brooke is a very successful advice columnist but she can't seem to follow her own advice! She's grieving the loss of her sister in all the wrong ways and her new book is struggling to be written. In walks Kaleb, tow truck driver and received of misdirected texts from Brooke. Luckily they see the funny side of things.
Kaleb is struggling himself, his deceased mother it turns out isn't that deceased and he's not sure if or how he wants to meet her. The attraction to Brooke is intense but they both agree that romance under stressful conditions is all kinds of wrong. Pity they can't take their own warnings!
There are some serious themes covered in this book but there is a hefty dose of humour. Grief, traumatic loss, abandonment issues - they are all handled so well. Kaleb is the cinnamon roll MC we all want in our lives - even if it's just as your bestie! I loved the secondary romance between Max and another recurring character and there is simmering tension between Mason and a certain mechanic.
The Spencer-King's certainly know how to throw a flash-mob and I love that their favourite term of endearment is "f you"!
Another perfect match made in Cherry Blossom Lake!
All the books in this series strike a fine balance between the humor and heat you’d expect from a spicy rom-com and the more serious issues the characters are going through. I appreciate that both Brooke and Kaleb had to work through their own problems, but that they were always so supportive of each other (well, almost always…).
Since this is book 4 in the series, I think it helps to have read the previous books to the full effect of the Spencer-King family without getting overwhelmed. And once again, Harper, my favorite of the bunch, stole every scene she was in. :)
Brooke is America's favorite advice columnist, but she is in need of some help herself. Things just haven't been right since her sister died. But then she meets Kaleb, Mr. Fix It himself. There is a definite attraction between the two of them -- no matter how she embarrassed herself when they met. They decide on a casual relationship, but they end up deeply connected over their losses. Parts of this book are funny, but I also cried through it. I was glad for the epilogue since they had put a lot of difficulty behind them.
Ask Me is book 4 in the Cherry Blossom Lake series by Tawna Fenske and another awesome addition.
Brooke an advise guru comes to Cherry Blossom Lake to work on her latest book and deal with the loss of her sister, Grace…but she needs to take her own advise…
Kaleb the town’s auto shop mechanic/owner give Brooke a tow when her car breaks down..what happens next is heartbreak, family, laughter, tears, lots of baggage on both, understanding that leads to love…
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When have a Ms. Fix-It of relationships and a Mr. Fix-It of almost everything else you would think these two would clash, but they actually compliment each other. Brooke is having a rough go of things since her sister’s death and Kaleb is struggling hard with the situation surrounding his mother and together they find a shoulder to lean on. This story was full of every emotion out there from sadness and loss to laughter and love. This family has been one that was easy to fall in love with and I’ve enjoyed them immensely.
