'He was trained for this, but no matter how many times he faced a live explosive, he couldn't keep his heart from racing or the what-ifs from rushing through his mind.'

Romantic Suspense.

If you are not reading this genre, I highly recommend you picking up a Traci Hunter Abramson book and giving it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed--and you just might find a new favorite genre!!!

In this book you'll get the amazing romantic, swoony tension that you get from forced proximity. You'll get a protective hero and a determined heroine. You'll have so many moments where you can't put the book down...and you may miss out on some sleep depending on when you pick it up, but I really can't recommend this author's books enough!

I loved getting Alan's story. I've been following him around since the Royal book 1-Royal Target that came out in 2011!!!

I absolutely loved getting sucked back into the "Royals" world and there are so many cameos that if you've been reading this series (and other series) you'll find fun Easter egg name drops and exciting cameos. Getting to be back with Levi and Janessa was such a treat.

I loved seeing more of Victoria's family and seeing what made Victoria into the character that she is. She is a determined character that wants to help her country thrive, even if she isn't the one leading it. I loved her sense of purpose in everything that she did...especially when times get tough.

If you love royals, CIA operatives, forced proximity, swoon worthy moments, and some action/suspense please, please, please pick this one up!!! You wont regret it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sadly this wasn’t for me. I had read the series now and they have all followed the exact same plot. Unfortunately I spent the majority of my time rolling my eyes 👀

I read my first Royal book by the author 11 years ago and I still get excited when a new one releases! Princess Victoria of Sereno, the new CEO of her family's luxurious Royal Sands Resort, finds her life unexpectedly in danger as she juggles the high-profile task of preparing for her sister Cassie's coronation. As the coronation approaches, what should be a straightforward preparation turns into a life-or-death mission when Victoria becomes the target of a dangerous plot.

Alan Neisler is a skilled and dedicated CIA operative with a loyal K-9 partner. Alan's mission to protect the royal family intensifies when he diffuses a bomb on his first day. A series of threats escalates quickly from diffusing bombs to providing round-the-clock protection for Victoria.

I was happy escape to Sereno with the royal family. Who wouldn't love to attend a coronation, even if it's in a book? I found all the details concerning the opening of the resort very interesting. I'd never considered what went into that. I can't imagine how stressed Victoria must have been and then to have her life threatened!! I loved that Victoria and Alan's relationship felt genuine and how he protected her.

Other things I liked:
👑 Dual POV
👑 Seeing familiar characters again
👑 The ball!!
👑 Alan in a tux!
👑 The ballgowns!

Traci Abramson knows how to blend romance, suspense and royal intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat and turning pages late into the night. As soon as I thought Alan and company had figured out who was behind the threats something else would happen. Of course, I was surprised to find out who was behind everything and why. (I wouldn't make a very good detective or spy)
If you're a fan of romantic suspense with strong, admirable characters and a plot full of unexpected turns, Royal Duty delivers with elegance and excitement.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher but also bought an ebook for my personal library. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

Book friends, oh what a thrilling romantic suspense! It is precisely filled with great suspense and mystery, loveable and original characters, sweet romance, forced proximity, K-9 dogs, and even some fun royalty vibes. This story will draw you in quickly and will keep your attention from start to finish, as you try to figure out, “who did it?.” While this may be book #5 in this great series you can read and enjoy it easily as a standalone. It’s a thrilling story worth read the read!

The Royals Series has been a favorite of mine for many years, so I was thrilled to learn that Book 5 was on its way. This novel centers around Princess Victoria of Sereno and CIA agent Alan Neisler. Victoria returns to Sereno after completing her graduate studies, stepping into the role of CEO for the family’s new resort. Alan, accompanied by his K-9 partner Max, is brought in to manage security for the upcoming Royal Coronation of the new Queen.

The story is filled with tension, including bomb threats and lives at risk, along with mysterious blackmailers. Alan's intelligence and bravery shine through, particularly in his interactions with Max, the bomb-sniffing dog, and Victoria's new puppy, Shadow. It’s a delight to see familiar characters return from earlier books, especially the close-knit relationship among the royal sisters. Abramson masterfully weaves a gripping mystery around the threats, keeping readers guessing until nearly the end.

The romance between Victoria and Alan feels genuine and relatable as they already had a connection from previous stories. Their relationship is heartwarming, and Alan is immensely supportive of Victoria. Royal Duty kept me hooked late into the night. Abramson’s writing is so engaging that it’s tough to put the books down. With one royal sister still single, I'm hopeful for another book in the series.

So good!

I loved the pacing and I loved the tension.

I loved that there were enough clues to keep me invested and enough mystery to keep me guessing.

Both Victoria and Alan were well developed and written in a way that made them relatable.

I loved the way Traci built both their friendship and the romance. This book was such a good balance of chemistry and suspense.

It’s always fun to return to old characters that you love and this book is no different. I love the way that Tracy Hunter Abramson always gives us new characters, but brings back other favorite characters within each story. As usual, this has just the right amount of suspense for me to make the story exciting without too much intensity..

This was an exciting read. It was hard to put down because you kept waiting for the next nail biting situation. The ending was a little flat compared to the rest of the story. Victoria’s insecurities about herself were a little over the top. Shadow and Max were a fun part of the storyline. The villain was predictable but the authors attempts to redirect to others made it interesting. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Man, what an incredible ride this story was!! I loved all the moments of suspense and action just as much as the excellent conversation and swoony romance. If you have not been along for this series journey, you are definitely missing out, my friend. Traci’s expertise shines bright once again as she takes you on an adventure of intrigue, royal life and finding love in the most unexpected way. I loved getting to know Alan and Victoria better and watching them fall for each other. They balance one other so well and then inspire each other to meet new challenges head on. Theirs isn’t a loud or brash love but one built on time together and genuine care for the other. I was so pleased with how things turned out by the end I was barely able to sit still to finish the story, rather than just dance around with happiness. Definitely recommend you check this one out if you like books you can’t put down once you start them.

“Maybe for tonight we need to live in the moment,” Alan said.

“Yes.” Victoria took a steadying breath. “As long as the moment doesn’t include bombs or guns or knives.”

“That’s a reasonable request.”

This book was such a ride! Traci has perfected lulling a reader into a story just to hit them with an amazing, unexpected plot twist. This story is no different.

I love the setting of the Royals series and Alan is truly a lovable, selfless cinnamon roll! All he wants is to stay with his bomb searching dog, Max, and to help keep people safe.

Princess Victoria is finally returning back to the palace after finishing University to help open the new family business venture, a beach resort.

When Alan happens to be in the right place at the right time to save Princess Victoria’s life, before her sister’s coronation, trust is planted between the two. Will this seed blossom into love or will the unknown enemy succeed?

Royalty, CIA agents, sweet romance, edge of your seat suspense, & darling dogs. Royal Duty has it all! I loved this book! I’m new to this series & now I can’t wait to go back & read all the previous books. Even though this is my first Royals book from Traci Hunter Abramson, I easily read it as a standalone & fell in love with all the characters & the fictional Kingdom of Sereno.

Princess Victoria just graduated from college & is ready to tackle her new position as the CEO of her royal family’s business. Their first venture is The Royal Sands Resort. As she prepares for the grand opening & her sister’s coronation as the Queen of Sereno, she unexpectedly finds herself a target.

CIA operative Alan Neisler & his canine partner Max have their work cut out for them protecting the beautiful princess & her family from several bomb threats & near fatal situations. Though he definitely looks forward to seeing the princess again, he has to use all his wits & training to keep her & her family safe. But, he’s also in danger of losing his heart as their friendship grows to something more.

I adored Alan & Victoria! I love a good royal romance especially when it’s a bodyguard/protectee situation with lots of forced proximity. They had such a natural, sweet relationship that easily progressed to more. I enjoyed all the descriptions of the lavish events, gorgeous attire, & life of a royal. I also loved Alan’s dog Max, who definitely stole the show along with Victoria’s puppy. I enjoyed their training sessions & teaching Shadow to be a bomb sniffing dog just like Max.

The suspense was intense. Just when you think things are finally handled, there’s more! It all comes down to the wire & I found myself quickly turning the pages anxious to see how things turned out. The villain was a bit of a surprise too.

Highly recommend this amazing fifth book in the series & can’t wait to read the previous ones. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

Such a thrilling romantic suspense!

When Alan is asked to help with security for the royal family of Sereno, he readily agrees. Not only should it be a simple job, but he is excited to renew his acquaintance with the intriguing Princess Victoria.

Victoria is busy getting her family's new business venture up and running and doesn't need any distractions or delays, but it quickly becomes clear that she is in danger. Thankfully Alan is there to protect her but her feelings for him move quickly from colleague to friend to something more.

But before Victoria and Alan can discover if there is any hope for a happily ever after, they must first figure out who is trying to kill the royal family before it is too late.

What you'll love:
romantic suspense
dual pov
CIA operative
princess + bodyguard
Max and Shadow
protective hero
suspenseful action scenes
alan in a tux
super sweet romance
character cameos

Traci knows how to write a captivating sleep stealer and this one kept me up way past my bedtime! I love that she blended together so perfectly the suspense and mystery, the endearing characters, the sweet romance, and the intriguing insights into how the CIA uses K-9 dogs. Max stole my heart along with little Shadow!

Loved Alan and Victoria and the push and pull of their relationship, and how protective Alan was without being overbearing. SO SWOONY!!! And the ball scene? Sigh. I could not get enough of the two of them together!!

This is the fifth book in the series but can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone! I will definitely be going back to read the first few books of the series and look forward to more coming soon!

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

I don’t know why I’m still surprised how much I love a book by Traci when I finish. Every. Time. I feel close to the characters in her books. They don’t feel fictional and feel like the kind of friends I’d have around me.

Then you throw in Royals, CIA, and Danger and it brings me to reality. 😆

Royal Duty is book 5 in The Royals series. I loved Alan and Victoria’s adventure so much! I was captivated and worried with every turn. Then I’d swoon and sigh with Alan’s easy protective nature.

Alan was such a good, steady, and comforting presence for Victoria and he just so happened to save her life a time or two or three. I loved his canine partner Max and how well they did their job. Diffusing bombs would be a high stress situation and he always kept his cool.

“Be Careful.”
“I will.” Alan flipped open the lid of his toolkit and retrieved a flashlight and a box cutter. “Go on.” He tilted his head toward the doorway. “I need to know you’re safe before I see what I’ve got here.”

Victoria was so busy getting a new resort ready to open when she is suddenly thrown into a world of fearing for her life and wondering why she is a target. With Alan close she can cope, but she finds comfort in her own strength as well as a sweet and smart new puppy.

This high stakes story will keep you on your toes and the sweet romance that unfolds will make your heart swell. So many heart stopping moments mended through thoughtful gestures and support.

You will find:
🐕Canine friends
🐕Dog training
🐕The Ball
🐕Late night talks
🐕Supportive and protective family
🐕Suspense and Action

This was another winner! I read it in one day. I have been eagerly awaiting this book ever since I read the other books in the series and it definitely did not disappoint. Royal Duty is the fifth book in Traci Hunter Abramson’s The Royals series.
Alan definitely deserved his own book and I was so excited to read his story. Victoria was also so interesting to read about. I liked getting to know her better and seeing her interactions with Alan. Alan’s dog, Max is the sweetest and I loved getting to read about him again too.
There was so much going on in this book and I didn’t want to put it down. I fell in love with the characters and I enjoyed their relationship. They had interacted with each other before but they didn’t really know each other. Their relationship was sweet, I liked how they supported each other. It was cool to read about them growing and learning more about themselves as they fell in love.
The suspense was so engaging. I had no idea how the book was going to end. I really enjoyed the plot and getting to see old characters. This was definitely a wonderful book. I am excited for the books to come!
Royal Duty is a must read! I would totally recommend it. Royal Duty is a clean romantic suspense novel.

Abramson returns to her Royal series of connected but stand alone romantic/suspense novels. This is the fifth book and I’ve read the first three previously. Alan Neilser works for the CIA alongside his bomb sniffing dog Max. He is requested to help with security for a fictional island monarchy for their upcoming coronation of a new queen. Before leaving England he and Max find a bomb seemingly intended for the Queen’s sister Princess Victoria.

Victoria has just finished her masters degree and is ready to take charge of the family's new resort that is almost completed. But the threats keep coming. Alan is there for friendship and support beyond security. I’ve enjoyed this series. Although it is funny to think of how many CIA agents can get married off into royalty. The author once worked for the CIA and her action scenes feel realistic. Abramsom writes enjoyable and exciting novels that are clean for language and intimacy. I was able to check out the book I’ve missed, Royal Heir (Mar 2020) from my local library. It is the romance of Victoria’s sister who is now the Queen. Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the book and I am leaving a voluntary review.

This is my first Tracie Hunter Abramson book and I was totally hooked! I loved the pacing and the mystery, it kept me on the edge of my seat! And of course I enjoyed the side romance. I’m a sucker for a story involving royals so this book certainly ticked a lot of boxes!

When asked to help out at the Royal Coronation as a guard, Alan gets one last chance to work with his dog Max on assignment. And he gets more than he bargained for! As soon as he shows up for work, before he even gets on the plane, he discovers a bomb. Princess Victoria has never been signaled out for anything, but when one bomb threat turns into multiple, life as she knows it is put on hold. Alan works hard to protect Victoria and the more time they spend together, the harder they fall. They made such a great couple! I loved how safe Victoria felt with Alan and the way Victoria made Alan reevaluate what was most important to him. I was so happy with the ending of this story!

This won’t be my last book by this author for sure! I enjoyed every bit of this journey!

Romantic suspense + royal romance trope = incredible steal-your-sleep book!

Alan is a CIA agent alongside his K-9 partner, Max. He’s headed home when a call from an old friend has him helping out by becoming the new bodyguard for the beautiful and captivating Princess Victoria.

Victoria is focused on helping her older sister prepare for her coronation and opening up the Royal Sands Resort, which she has poured her heart and soul into. When she begins to face unexpected threats, Alan is there to help.

And Max and Shadow! Those pups stole the show! I am dog lover, and it was so interesting to see how an agent and his K-9 partner worked together and trained together. And Shadow was the sweetest and smartest little pup!

The romance was so good, and very realistic I felt. You could feel the connection and the natural synergy that Victoria and Alan had with each other. I also loved the dual POV, that really helped shape both characters out fully in my mind and get to now the progression of their feelings!

This was a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!

Thank you to the author for an e-arc copy. A positive review was not required, and all thoughts are my own.

I'll read anything by Traci Hunter Abramson, and enjoy doing it! This latest entry in the "Royals" series is a good suspense story with interesting characters, although it suffers from some of the pitfalls of romance novels (in this case, characters that are immediately drawn to each other and act like they are in forever-love without talking about/admitting it until.the.very.end, even though they are both responsible adults with serious jobs who didn't get there by being able to avoid talking about their feelings like a couple of teenagers). And I guessed who the culprits were the first time they were introduced, in part because the other options were so amorphous. And I wished I had reread all the Royals novels before reading this one, so I could refresh my memory about the characters from those books, who show up in this book, too. Even with those criticisms, I enjoyed this book and thought the story was engrossing. Abramson must have had to study bomb-disposal to write this one. If you like dogs, you'll especially enjoy this story.

“Are you ready?”
“No,” Victoria and Annabelle said in unison.
“Great. Let’s go.”

I was so excited to read Alan’s story from the first moment I heard about it! I loved him and Max in Traci’s other Royal books, and I am happy to get to see more of them. I love this world Traci has created, and I wish Sereno was a real country so I could visit. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first bombing attempt until the end! And I thought I knew who was behind everything, but I didn’t guess correctly until the end, which I love! This book takes place in the weeks leading up to Queen Cassie’s coronation and the opening of a new resort that Princess Victoria will run. King Levi doesn’t want to take any chances so he recruits Alan and his bomb detecting dog, Max to help with security. And it’s a good thing, too, since someone seems determined to prevent Victoria from living to see either event.

I received an advanced copy from the author and publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Traci Hunter Abramson delivers another winner in this page turner of a royal romance. It was so fun to revisit this world where CIA operatives and royalty mesh in one romantic suspense adventure.
I really enjoyed both Alan and Victoria. I like how Victoria's character shined a light on what it may be like being royal without being destined for the throne. Alan had such a unique job and skill set and I adored Max so much as a side character himself. The romance was there the whole story through and I love that Abramson kept me guessing on how their fairytale would work out while also keeping me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the true villain was. It was so satisfying to read.
If you enjoy royal romances and want a bit of suspense and mystery in the mix, definitely pick up this book.
Side note, it was super fun seeing cameos of the couples in the other books in this series, but this does work as a standalone novel.

Traci Abramson's books always have me hooked. I read this book so very fast. And I loved every minute of it!

I loved Princess Victoria. She's headed home from school after finishing her degree to open a new resort. Only every thing seems to be going wrong. She appears to be the target for someone to kill. It's a good thing CIA's Alan and his bomb sniffing dog are around to protect her.

I loved that we got to see things through Alan's point of view as well. He's a great guy, getting ready to go on a hard assignment. But first, he needs to figure out who is targeting Victoria.

I loved these two so much! I loved that there was danger around every corner. And they both had to learn to deal with the danger and move past the effects.

This book kept me wanting more! I can't wait to read this author's next book!

Alan is good at what he does— protecting people and disarming bombs. It’s a good thing too, because he needs to will utilize these skills throughout the book as he is a guard for Victoria and the royal family.

The mystery of who is planting bombs and their motive will keep you guessing throughout the book. With several red herrings, you are sure to keep turning the pages.

I liked Alan’s canine partner, Max, and the bond they had. Without him, things could have turned out much differently. I also enjoyed the training that Alan was giving to Victoria’s pup for becoming a bomb sniffing dog. I didn’t know anything about training dogs and found it to be interesting.

Read for:
A luxury resort
Danger and suspense
Mystery
CIA operatives (current and past)
Max & Shadow
Family and friends

This is the fifth book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. It will not affect the story if you have not read the other books. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

If you love suspense and romance with a dash of royalty, the Royal series by Traci Hunter Abramson is one you absolutely must read, and her newest addition Royal Duty just adds to the fabulousness of the series!

I mean, this book seriously has it all! I just have to say CIA operative Alan Neisler, and his K-9 partner Max have always been some of my favorite characters, and I love that they now have their story! And Princess Victoria! She is a determined and fearless heroine that you just can’t help but fall in love with! The tension between these two, combined with the high stakes action and heart melting moments, kept me up late reading 🩷!

The forced proximity trope is done to perfection, and all the connections to Traci’s previous books made it even more fun.

If you’re into royalty, suspense, and romance, this one’s a definite winner!

I'm so excited Alan got his own book and story!! He's been such a beloved side character in this series!! Princess Victoria is an interesting character with deep layers to her. I was so excited I reread the entire series leading up to this and maybe that was a disservice because I felt this story was a bit predictable and repetitive of the series. I usually love all of Traci's books so I was surprised that I found this one not as exciting which was disappointing because I truly was excited for Alan's book!

This is another installment of The Royals series. This book is intense. I read this one pretty quickly as it was hard to put down. The many ways that someone tries to attempt to kill a member of the royal family and tha action packed story kept me reading until late at night. This book could be read as a stand-alone but has characters from the other books in the series. Traci Hunter Abramson is one of my favorite suspense authors.

Every word was enjoyed that concluded on the last turned page! Loved the other royals that were in the previous books. It was a visit with old friends.

Don’t have to read the previous books in the series, but it does help.

Loved the telling of princess Victoria and Alan’s love story. It was a happy ending, but left me wanting more of their future story. Maybe Annabelle, Queen Cassie and king Levi’s sister will be the next royals story.

Loved that max gets to retire in style.
