There are a number of resources in the bibliography at the end of the book, for anyone who wants to follow up on claims made or research further. This is a great book to add to the health library for all women. (And men can benefit as well, even though not everything will apply as clearly).
Very informative read. The book is as more technical then I expected… I found this helpful. For example the author goes into detail on the gut brain connection. I thought this was more theory than science before reading the book. Now I know otherwise. I also appreciate the specific, actionable guidance on how to improve wellness going through menopause. For example: “Some lifestyle changes are useful to improve vagal tone, like breath work, meditation, humming, gargling, cold-water immersion, exercising, eating a healthy diet, and sleeping well, among many others I will dive deeper into in the coming chapters.”
While targeting women in the early stages of menopause this book covers provides information that can help all age groups. The author delivers clear, easy to understand insight into how the vagus nerve affects the body, with associated medical documentation. It includes steps to recognize symptoms of a malfunctioning/overactive vagus such as nausea, bowel issues, and random pains throughout the body. Its features includes ways to reset and heal the nerve thru natural or holistic methods. But he also covers diet and its effect on vagus nerve function. I was particularly interested in the effects and possible side effects on long term treatment ressistant depression. This book is a great source of info for anyone with symptoms that your doctor can't link to a specific cause.

Most of the techniques look amazing, and I can't wait to try them! As someone terrified of needles, I'll pass on acupuncture. The book is well written and insightful, not too dry or condescending. I'm hopeful for how it will help in the long term!
