LaShane Arnett is an African American poet and author living in Southern California with her husband of thirty+ years. She is the author of The Sadie Reed Series. The first book in the series, The Pain Eater, is highly recommended for anyone who loves Paranormal Thrillers.

LaShane’s work has appeared in various personal print-only journals including Jeremy R. Richey’s Soledad. She has a very “unique voice and writing style” (Judge, 29th Annual Writers Digest Self-Published Book Awards), which gives her books an edge and puts them in a category all their own.

When LaShane isn’t writing she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her dogs.

Although her first published book Go Ask LaShane is a collection of short stories and poetry, she is a lover of Horror and Supernatural. Be on the lookout for The Magic Man, the second book in her Sadie Reed Series, and Go Ask LaShane Vol. 2 My Human Experience.

When you read a poem by LaShane Arnett, you’re getting a glimpse into a slice in time, a significant moment in her life, and her heartfelt, raw response and perspective to that moment. She elegantly pens the concerns of her heart in a way that is touching, insightful, and inspiring. She has the ability to evoke pure feeling with her words. My emotions were all over the map. At one point I’m laughing, then suddenly I’m shedding tears as I travelled the highs and lows of her life.

I had a personal connection to many of the poems. Such topics as loss and grief, the passage of time, aging, parenting, being a writer, and the joys of family and relationships really hit home with me. It was comforting like a warm blanket to read these poems that were so honest and relatable… like you’re not alone in this crazy world after all. Two of my favourites were, “The Lily Pad of Old Age” and “I Feel Guilty When I Cry for Me,” but truly all the poems are lovely in their own right.

I recommend this book to people who enjoy honest writing that captures the raw essence of the human experience and beautiful poetry.

LaShane Arnett's Go Ask LaShane Volume Two is an amazing collection of poems! I flew through them, gobbling up her beautiful words. Her complex and elegant poems resonated so much with me. I loved "Love isn't a game" and "You are me" and "Reflect" just to name a few of my favorites. I also really like that she has spoken word of many of these gorgeous poems on her website. I highly recommend this immersive and striking collections of poems!

Raw, brilliant, beautiful, insightful, and emotionally charged are just some of the words that come to mind to describe this moving collection of poetry and reflection on life.

Wow just wow. Skin tingles in the best of ways. I am in awe of LaShane Arnett and her courage, skill, and LOVE to create such profound musings.

Incredibly moving and comforting. I’ll be re-reading these sage words often.
