Overall Opinion: I am disappointed with this one. The first book showed promise...then the second less...then this one the least. Sorry, but it was just ok for me.
Storyline: This is the conclusion of El and Jag's story. The couple is yet again separated at the beginning of the book, and the majority of the book was them working through the idea of them getting back together. With the same obnoxious lingerie model, Jag's trade to another team, and another pro-pitcher pursing El, there is a good bit of drama. Eventually the couple gets things straightened out and find their HEA.
POV:Alternating between El and Jag's POV
Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I think I was anxious to get it done, so at times it felt slow...but overall it was ok.
H rating: 2 stars. Jag. I don't feel like he redeemed himself. He's the kind of guy that puts "jerk" in "alpha male". The scene in his condo was not nice, and definitely not something you do with someone you love. I get that he was clueless as to inner workings of females, but COME ON!! He is so freaking clueless that it crosses the line into hurtful and mean.
h rating: 3 stars. El. She was kind of off putting because she was kinda a doormat during the whole trilogy and let Jag treat her like crap. Finally at chapter 9 of THE LAST BOOK she gets it:

1.5 Ahhh where to start.. this review contains spoilers.
I enjoyed the first two books in this series and was looking forward to this last book, although i did feel it was unnecessary to have another book when everything could have been wrapped up nicely in book 2!
I have to say I could not stand Ellen.. I get it she was hurt by Jag but really the back and forth between Jag and Austin was beyond annoying.
So understandably earlier in the series she doubts Jag when it came to him and the model but later on when Austin claims (which was very briefly mentioned) that the girls answering his phone while he was away for a game was his sister and then a maid.. she didn't think anything of that?? a guy she barely knew she believed but Jag she doubted.
I also didn't like how she mentioned a few times she was having feelings for Austin and enjoyed kissing him etc.. that annoyed me as I personally like for my hero and heroine to only love one another (not that she mentioned loving Austin). We never hear about Jag hooking up with anyone while their on a break.
Then she goes from having sex with Jag to kissing Austin in the same damn day. Having phone sex with Jag but still communicating with Austin. She came off as kind of slutty in this book.

Finally Us is the conclusion of El and Jag's story.
The beginning of the book deals with their separation and the aftermath of Jag's injury. They are living in different cities and El is thinking of moving forward and starting to date again. I'm glad the name of the book has finally in it or I would've been very worried.
I can honestly say that I still love Jag in the last book. He knew he wanted El in his life. He also figured out how he hurt her before and he won't be making any of those mistakes again.
His career also moves in the right direction. For once it seems like they could have their happy ending.
Trying to convince El is a different story.
El disappointed me at some point. She wasn't sure about Jag's loyalty and she gets herself into a mess by giving the time of the day to Austin, another ball player.
Trusting Jag was never her strong suit but I think it was about time she did.
In the end, I was happy where the story finished and I loved the epilogue.
I'll miss you Jag......Forever and a day.

Finally they get it right!! Although I don't think a third book was needed to conclude El and Jag's story, I did however love reading them being miserable without each other. Apart they were able to see where they each went wrong, how they let the other one down, and what they were willing to do to change and make things better. Because lets be honest, Jag and El were made for one another. When Jag finally realized how he let El down, it was such a sweet moment. This book was all Jag! He was awesome. El realized too her mistakes with Jag, and it was nice to see that few people got what was coming to them (wink wink). A couple got a punch to the face!! But most of all, it was nice to see them treasure each other and come back together for a happy ending. After all, the book WAS titled Finally Us :)

This was a total throwaway novel. It seems like the author just wanted a trilogy. She should have added another 50 pages to the second, resolved everything, and been through with it. This book is terrible.
Side note: I'm usually a fan of graphic sex

), but it's totally weird and out of nowhere in this book. The definition of gratuitous.

Especially when 90% into the book she was still doubting Jag.
Imho, El probably should've been apologizing & asking Jag for some forgiveness on her part.

I liked the first two books in this trilogy well enough, but I just couldn't stomach this one and I had to DNF. In the first two books, Jag was basically a broken record because he had to keep apologizing to Ellen and most of the things that happened were not that huge of a deal, but Ellen being ever the drama queen decided to make them so. So what you couldn't go to a party and be arm candy, get over it! She cried, she cursed, she hit (multiple times), and frankly I started to hate her guts.
At the end of the second book, Ellen leaves Jag, because once again, instead of communicating with him and talking things out, she decides to believe the fake texts and pictures that came from a clearly deceitful jealous bitch, over her own boyfriend. She later realizes that she was wrong to not believe Jag when he told her the texts were fake, but instead of calling him or visiting him to man up and apologize this time around, she sits on her ass and says that they need more "time" to figure things out. There was nothing to figure out, she didn't trust Jag, she was insecure, and when she finally realized all this, she was too much of a coward to say she was sorry.
I'm a firm believer in people owning up to their mistakes and making amends for them, but Ellen did not do that at all. Instead, what happened was that once again, after cheating on Jag (I consider her kissing Austin cheating because her and Jag were still very much together in my mind) with a coke sniffing psycho, Jag was the one that had to apologize. Again. And then Ellen had the nerve to be indignant when Jag pointed out, while apologizing to her, that her insecurities and her jumping to conclusions were partially to blame for their breakups.
I had no problem with Jag once again apologizing to Ellen, because the situation with Dirk and Alessandra called for it, but the fact that Ellen just stood there like she was Mother fucking Teresa and had done nothing wrong while accepting an apology without making one herself pissed me off to the point of DNFing this book.
So to sum up Jag was loveable screwup that always owned his mistakes and deserved someone better than Ellen, while Ellen herself was a self-righteous cheating twat with a sprinkle of bitch thrown in.

So here's my first little "review". Ever. Try not to rip me apart. I just thought I'd show some support and appreciation of the author.
In less than 50 words?...
Finally Us is the appropriately realistic (at least in the realm of a literary romance) and romantic resolution to a love story of two childhood sweethearts who learned that while love is easy, life is certainly not.

Did I laugh? Did I tear up? Did I get annoyed? Did I get angry? Did I need to fan myself? Yes, on all accounts. Was there a lot of drama? Well, of course, there was drama. There were the quintessential misunderstandings by both parties. However, that's to be expected in this genre. So while some of you may argue that the conflicts in Finally Us (or the series as a whole) may have been "the same" as in other books, the beauty of this book (or any good book, for that matter) is HOW the "same" situation is handled by Jag and Ellen. So how did they handle it all? Genuinely.
In the book, told in dual POVs (which I LOVE by the way), I felt Ellen's lingering insecurities and uncertainties and Jag's utter confusion and stubborness, and while each had their "aha!" moments which served to fuel the momentum of their reunion, I was glad to see that Ms. Bentley did not make it all unicorns and sunshine for Jagger and Ellen, because, realistically, those types of issues - the issues that can truly ruin relationships - never really go away in real relationships. (Whew! That was a long sentence.) So, yes, there was a lot of angst-causing parts where you want to scream at Jag and/or Ellen, but the truth of the matter is this book gives us a glimpse of what it's like to genuinely struggle with and tackle those relationship-killing issues. To determine whether love is worth the struggle.
A woman finding her own worth and confidence, as a person and as a partner. A man being emotionally humbled by his love for a woman. THIS is the stuff of romance. Put simply. It was a breath-stealing read.

FINALLY US by Harper Bentley (True Love Series 1-3)

I read this trilogy of books back to back and will do one review collectively for all three books. It was such a plus that I knew all three books were available and I didn't have to wait or face being miffed when I hit cliffhangers at the end of Books 1 and 2! It was somewhat of an adventurous journey including the good and the bad times with El and Jag over an estimated 25 year period of time. El, at age 5, crushed on Jag. He didn't have a clue. This is my favorite kind of series as you watch your characters grow and mature from childhood friendships, first loves and all the thrills and angst that seems to follow, and then into adulthood that included a long-distance relationship where things get ugly, nasty and downright real before taking a turn towards happily-ever-after.
Book 1 is written from El’s POV, Book 2 is from Jag’s POV, and Book 3 gives us POVs from both El and Jag. I really enjoyed the way this trilogy was written. Of course, the fact that Jag was a star baseball player and swoon-worthy -- even though a bit of a jerk at times -- only upped the excitement for the sports-themed lover in me. The story covers a lot of ground and readers will get a taste of many fun-to-read moments, along with the dose of angst that most always wiggles its way into relationships, characters that grow on you as they grow up, and some really steamy and sizzling encounters that are sure to please romance readers.
Book 3 was the crowning glory. Things started to fall into place and love between these two stood on solid ground. The trust and loyalty settled into place, and they finally got it right and learned from all those past mistakes.
An Epilogue that truly sparkles and shines in giving a reader all they could hope for in the conclusion to the long and arduous journey of El and Jag.

OH, how I loved this final book of El and Jag's epic love story!!! this might be even my favourite out of the three, if I ever had to decide on a favourite, that is. ;)this book had it all; the angst,the humour, the jealousy and finally the HEA!!! that epilogue will make you smile like a lunatic and swoon over every single page! GAH! I can't even... I adored that the book was kinda spunky and so different from what I originally expected. :) it was sooo refreshing.so if you're scared of the blurb, don't be!!! you will be as surprised as I was. :) go get your copy now so you can see for yourself that El and Jag are FINALLY an US again. ♥ thank you so much for this epic love story, Harper!!!

I liked this one better than the second one - but it sure took the couple some time to sort themselves out (and they weren't together for most of it.) I'm not sure if I think their actions are true but we were reminded often that it would take a long time to "grieve" the loss of the relationship (book #2) for as long as they were together. I did like the building of maturity/trust in their thinking/relationship. What held so much promise in book 1, definitely fizzled in book 2, picked up in book 3. Epilogue was nice though. 3 stars.

I loved this book.
I am sad that El and Jag's story is over. This book ended it perfectly. I actually messaged Harper Bentley and told her how much I loved it.
If I had to choose only one word to describe this book it would be......

First of all, never ever wrap yourself in a red ribbon and give it to a special person like it's his birthday. Your body is a temple. You don't give it just because you knew he's already the one. You keep it pure so that when you get married, you won't regret anything. Think of it like the most precious gift you'd want your husband to treasure. I know I'm being a lunatic in here, like murmuring something that most girls have violated and are still continuously doing, but I care!
Second of all, save yourself. Really, save yourself from the misery and heartbreak. Empower yourself. Empowerment doesn't mean you have to join Gabriela and fight for women's rights on the streets. You just have to believe and stand up for it. Don't wait for your Mommy to remind you that you are a strong, intelligent woman. And nobody should make you feel less. Don't be such a damsel in distress! Save yourself from looking unpleasant because you cried yourself to sleep. Shed tears for a painful event once. Remember, once is enough for a wise man and a wiser woman. Save yourself by being ridiculously happy and alive, always.

This trilogy hasn't taught me anything. It just made me grasp the principles I now possess. Okaaay, it's true love and they are meant to be but... it doesn't have to be like this.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR ALL THREE BOOKS
My rating: 3 stars
What I liked: I liked Elen(h) when she finally up and left Jag(H). She needed to leave his a$$ when he signed to do the commercial.
**Book 2: The only good thing beside Ellen’s brother punching Jag, is that since the book is in Jag’s point of view we at least know that he truly doesn’t like the ow (but she does have a nice body/tits :| )
***Book 3: I really liked how in this book Ellen is the one who was see a guy and for once Jag has to watch her with om. Also, it was about time he realized how much he messed up. Loved when Ellen punched the ow.
What I didn’t like: I honestly didn’t like Jag all that much. He either is an idiot or just doesn’t care. Why would he come back from the party and give Ellen a hard time (telling her he wants a break) after he knew she was upset she couldn’t go with him after getting ready and him coming home late with ow hanging all over him. He had no reason to be mad at her when he didn’t even corrected Alessandra(ow) when she said they were dating to the press. Yeah I vote idiot :|
**Book 2: It felt like I was rereading the first book all over again since they were repeating the same mistakes making Jag look like an idiot or someone who only cares about himself. He gets made at Ellen for not trusting him but why would he think it’s ok to allow Alessandra in his apartment when he knows that she causes problems for him and Ellen. Especially knowing how conniving she is and how much Ellen hates her.
***Book 3: Why was Jag mad at Ellen when he was the one to kick her out. Was she really supposed to wait around for him until he grew the hell up. He was the one doing all the wrong things. Again he lacked when it came to actually listening but finally got it together. Hated how the om was crazy but at least Ellen tried to move on.

Obviously, when they get older the H starts looking at ow and he stops hang out/talking to the h. Later they reconnected when he sees the h out waiting for a ride home and offers her a ride home. H and h start a relationship. h finishes up high school and the H heads to college. They continue with a long distance relationship. H gets drafted and is picked to play and the h finally is able to switch colleges to be with the H. H has a swimsuit model who is his neighbor which causes problems for the H and h. H’s agents is a sick and has the H do an ad with the ow. Later, H goes to a red carpet event and the h is allowed to go. While there the H is video with the ow and the ow tells the press that the H and her are dating. H comes home with a drunk ow. h gets mad and the H tells her that he is tired of fighting and maybe they should take a break. h leaves.
**Continues with book 2….. it’s starts where the first book left off but this time we get the H’s pov. H, which stayed at a friends house after fighting with the h, goes back to his place to find that the h left. Realizing he messed up tries calling the h. She refuses his calls. Seeing how messed up he is, his friends give him some advice. When he finally gets a break he goes to the h. After talking (since he doesn’t understand why she is mad and that she should have known that he didn’t mean what he said….insert eye roll) h says she needs some time to think. Of course, she forgives him but she also told him that what he did was not right and he didn’t protect her heart which he swears from now on he will. h also decides that she will not be returning since she transfer back to the old college. Unfortunately, he is still stuck doing the commercial and again he has to kiss the ow. Also in the commercial he has to propose to the ow and this hurts the h (yet again the H forgets to tell the h so she is blindsided by it). Ow continues to cause problems and his agent helps the ow by making the H again attend his party with ow. H knowing that the ow is a conniving bitch, still allows her in his apartment and of course she kisses him (not knowing that she had someone take a picture…which by this time he should have). Of course, H doesn’t tell the h and when he tells the ow to leave him alone, ow sends the picture to h along with messages between him and ow that the ow staged. h tells H she is done. At the end, H hurts his throwing arm, h calls to see how he is and he gets rude telling her he isn’t her concern anymore. End of book 2
***Book 3……this starts off with h now working and moving on from the H. H is getting traded to his hometown and hasn’t talked to the h. h starts talking to om who is also a baseball player. H finds out that h is dating finally goes to her. They go to his place which they argue and have sex only for the H to kick her out when she starts to tell him that he is her only one thinking she was talking about om. H realizing he messed up goes to see the h which he sees h kissing om, realizing that the om a guy on his team. The h asks for time, which two months go by and h finally calls the H telling him she misses him. While on an away game om is out screwing around while H is staying in and talking to h. When they get back om goes to h for a date and tells h that H was out sleeping with college woman the whole time. H shows up at h’s place which om is there and h realizes that om was the one going out. H beats up om and the police come. H gets bailed out and him and h make up. When they are seen in public H tells the media that he was never with the ow and it’s always been the h. H and h are finally on the same page. h goes to H’s game and ow from book 1 and 2 is there. She flirts but gets pissed when the H proposes to h on the field. h knocks out the ow. HEA with them married with kids.
Final thoughts: This story should have been just one book instead of three. I’m being generous with the three stars. I felt each book was a repeat of the same issues and after a while it got annoying.

I can literally smell the book depression coming.
You know that's the one thing I don't enjoy about reading, well, that and giving a book a bad review but anyway, I don't like to end a series when I've grown so dang attached to the characters. :(
This is one if those books were you knew the ending was coming but you just don't want to accept it. These characters and the story stay on your mind even a day after!
El and Jag have some serious growing up to do if they have any hopes of staying together and getting their happily ever after. There are new characters and old characters alike that threaten to tear these two apart.
I continued to freak out after the continuous steam of unending drama between El and Jag. And the bad part about: HAD BEEN ACTING THEIR AGE and talked about things like the adults, their pain could have ceased. (But then we wouldn't have a story, soooo... yeahh) 
♥El: She's showed some definite character development but she just didn't get it sometimes and at times I just wanted to back hand her for being so naive. You know the saying: "Believe NONE of what you hear and ONLY HALF of what you see." She took no regard to this and just listened to every rumor she heard about Jag and misconstrued everything she saw.
♥Jag: Oh, Jag. He is so HAWT and swoony. I loved to get inside of his head and get his take on things.
I ALSO love how the guy characters are more like loose cannons and any and everything comes out of their mouth.
He too, I wanted to slap around a couple of times but he came to his senses at the end.
Austin: He's is a new character and on the same team as Jag, the Cubs also. He's that one character that just popped up out of nowhere, making me think... ok, why are you even here? (To cause that drama... THAT is why.) He seemed nice enough but... he always smelled suspicious to me and it always seemed like he had other motives when it came to El.
A.K.A: Austin is also the *ehem* New love interest for El. ----I didn't appreciate his role in the book.
But... MEH. El still ended up with whom she should have, so for that, I'm happy.
♥Alexandria: Ugh. This trick can just get the heck already! Jag moved almost clear across the country when he switched teams but this girl *cough* this home wrecker was still there. I mean where the heck does she just pop up from anyway??
As many times as Jag messed up, he fought to win El back and did all he could (even if he was blind about how much he was hurting her).
The character growth of El is slow in coming but when it does, it's like BAM! In YO face! I was extremely pleased with this.
El was SO FLIPPLIN' NAIVE!! Like, I've stuck through it all with her and time and time again she believed things flying around in the media and what other people told her. This was the main part of her problem.
I'm STOKED that they finally got their happily ever after.:) After all the things they've been through, they definitely deserve it! This series was awesome! And I'm so sad to end it (like I am with any other series) but there's nothing you can do about it. This trilogy is definitely going on my TBRA (To be read again shelf) I recommend this book for anyone in the mood for romance, SWOON, relatable characters and a good time!
But NOW, I has a sad it's all over. *SNIFFS OBNOXIOUSLY*

I know, heart broken by her first and one true love but still if you can't make up your mind on Jag dont' start something with another guy. Talk about leading him on. At first I felt sorry for Austin before I found out his true self but you will need to read to find out about him.
Going back to El, girl just keep away from both guys until you figure your own shit out and then move on. I know what a bad place to be in, two yummie hunkie guys are fighting over you but you heart belongs to one and one guy only.
Still a good read about young love and the roller coaster of love.

The third and finally book of the trilogy and the last re-read from 2014 and I WAS NOT disappointed!
After the second book fell a little flat for me I gave myself a break after finishing book 2 and starting book 3. Harper definitely succeeded in how she delivered and wrapped up this last book.
‘Finally Us’ is told from both Jags and El’s perspective.
I loved that aspect!
Harpers writing style continues to impress and her pacing was back to being a standout.
I think Harper Bentleys storytelling is beautiful and I’d definitely recommend this Trilogy to those who enjoy classic romance with some spice.
Was a great palate cleanser after reading some darker romance.
She really knocked it outta the park! IYKYK

It's a good thing Finally Us rocked because we got mentioned in the Acknowledgments and I'd hate to have to give a book that I'm in a bad rating. Of course, it's by Harper, so that's not likely to happen anyway, but it could. Fortunately the book rocked so I'm not left making that decision. Instead I was thrilled to visit with Jag and Ellen again. I was kind of pissed off at Jag at the end of book 2, so I was excited for him to redeem himself. I mean, I knew he would because he really IS a good guy. But also a moron. It comes with the testicles, he can't help it.Overall Rating: 5 stars- Screw sleep! I’ll let the kids watch TV and eat hot dogs tomorrow.
They wanted forever... but is forever really their destiny?
When misunderstandings and unsavory characters get in their way, Ellen and Jag call it quits after nine years of being together. Now they find themselves in places with which they're unaccustomed: Ellen is trying to get used to the idea of dating another man, having never gone out with anyone other than Jag, while Jag is coping with an injury and the loss of baseball, a game he's played for most of his life. Neither is sure how to handle their new situation, but they're dealing.
When a surprise trade lands Jag right back in the middle of things and right back into Ellen's life, new boyfriend and all, can he keep his cool and prove to her that what they once had is what's right? Does Ellen still carry a torch for her first love or has she already fallen for her new baseball player, making it too late for them to start again?
The fight is on as Jag goes head-to-head with Ellen's new love interest as he tries proving to her that their love deserves another shot. Can he win her back or is their dream of a perfect forever gone for good?
Okay, the ONLY thing I was a little iffy on in the book is something I can't talk much about because it would be a spoiler. But there is a small twist that I felt was a little bit forced. But all the rest? Perfection.
I guess if sad is the new black, I'm in business.
Jag is still Jag. Loveable and clueless. I mean, he does get it eventually, but there are a few moments where you're going to want to smack him in the head. So, you know, he's a guy. But he also is SO devoted to Ellen that you just forgive him anyway.
Just gotta love the fuck out of life sometimes.
Ellen had a few moments, too. I felt for her being hurt. She had every right to be hurt. And I don't judge her wanting to date someone besides Jag since she never has. But then I did feel like she kept it dragging on a little bit more than maybe she should have.
"To all the motherfuckers who fuck with our lives, fuck with our heads and fuck with our bodies."
Of course, that lead to some seriously hot sex scenes, so maybe I'm glad. I mean, there's phone sex. And it's hot. I mean, it's smokin' smokin' hot. And there's another scene.. well.. yeah. It was awesome.
Oh, Patron, you are a friend of mine.

I wake up at noon the next day and immediately hate Patron.
Of course, I also love the B characters, too. Ellen's best friend, the other baseball players, Jag's sister, Ellen's mom.. I loved all of them. The conversation between Jag and his sister where she tells him he's a moron is a classic. Everyone needs a sister like that.
"It felt so good to hit that asshole."
All in all, you need to check it out. If you haven't already read Discovering Us and Finding Us, step to it. This is an awesome series and this is a great finale.

ABOUT A MONTH TO GO!!!
I just NEED to know what happens next!!!
** JULY 16, 2014 **
So I waited for forever to get my hands on this book. It was naughty of Mrs. Bentley to leave us with such a tragic cliff-hanger and so I was salivating for Finally Us to come out.
D-Day came and I literally put everything I had to do on hold and cracked open the book. I read and read and read, till in less than 24 hours I'd read it cover to cover.
I liked the book, I really did but I just found so many things that I didn't like too. I think I'll do a pro/con list to outline my points (there are spoilers- read at your own risk).
PROS
* HEA- which needed to happen or else shit would have hit the fan for me
* the Epilogue - an amazing flash-forward to some big moments in the couple's future
* The entire part when El and Jag are NOT fighting (which was like the last quarter of the book)
* Jag FINALLY (yes it needs to be in caps) understanding why he's been a dick this entire series
* Alessandra getting her ass kicked (THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN)
* No Dirk
CONS
* The couple fight for FOREVER.
* They frustrate the crap out of me with their whining over wanting to be with one another and NOT doing anything about it
* El flip-flopping between guys
* The whole Austin plot twist

I think that overall it hit all the major points I wanted it to but it took some detours that made me grind my teeth.
And because I do think people should read the book, let me include some excerpts:
“Ellen? I want you to stop crying. You hear me?” When I don’t stop, Mom says sternly, “Ellen Reese Love! You stop that, right now!” Great. She’s gonna gripe me out for cussing because I’m only twenty-five, for God’s sake.
I sniff a couple times and wipe my face with a napkin from my sandwich bag.
“Are you finished?” she asks.
I sniff a few more times and mumble, “Yes,” into my phone.
“Okay. Now, you listen to me. You are a strong, beautiful, intelligent, independent young woman that any man would be lucky to have. And your relationship with Jag has never defined who you are, it’s only enhanced it. And whether he’s got his head on straight and can see what he lost when he let you walk out of his life and he’s now going to try to rectify it, or whether he’s… he’s fucking other women… doesn’t have any bearing on you as a person. So I waited for forever to get my hands on this book. It was naughty of Mrs. Bentley to leave us with such a tragic cliff-hanger and so I was salivating for Finally Us to come out.
D-Day came and I literally put everything I had to do on hold and cracked open the book. I read and read and read, till in less than 24 hours I'd read it cover to cover.
I liked the book, I really did but I just found so many things that I didn't like too. I think I'll do a pro/con list to outline my points (there are spoilers- read at your own risk).
PROS
* HEA- which needed to happen or else shit would have hit the fan for me
* the Epilogue - an amazing flash-forward to some big moments in the couple's future
* The entire part when El and Jag are NOT fighting (which was like the last quarter of the book)
* Jag FINALLY (yes it needs to be in caps) understanding why he's been a dick this entire series
* Alessandra getting her ass kicked (THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN)
* No Dirk
CONS
* The couple fight for FOREVER.
* They frustrate the crap out of me with their whining over wanting to be with one another and NOT doing anything about it
* El flip-flopping between guys
* The whole Austin plot twist

I think that overall it hit all the major points I wanted it to but it took some detours that made me grind my teeth.
And because I do think people should read the book, let me include some excerpts:
“Ellen? I want you to stop crying. You hear me?” When I don’t stop, Mom says sternly, “Ellen Reese Love! You stop that, right now!” Great. She’s gonna gripe me out for cussing because I’m only twenty-five, for God’s sake.
I sniff a couple times and wipe my face with a napkin from my sandwich bag.
“Are you finished?” she asks.
I sniff a few more times and mumble, “Yes,” into my phone.
“Okay. Now, you listen to me. You are a strong, beautiful, intelligent, independent young woman that any man would be lucky to have. And your relationship with Jag has never defined who you are, it’s only enhanced it. And whether he’s got his head on straight and can see what he lost when he let you walk out of his life and he’s now going to try to rectify it, or whether he’s… he’s fucking other women… doesn’t have any bearing on you as a person. You deserve the best, Ellen. The best. I didn’t raise you to think you’re beneath anyone, so you’d better get your own head on straight and realize your worth,”

I have been waiting for what feels like forever to finally read Finally Us, the conclusion to Harper Bentley's True Love series. In reality it was only a few short months, but after my obsession with the first two books and the dramatic ending to Finding Us, the wait has been a killer. Fortunately, it was well worth the wait. Finally Us, much like the first two books, is totally angsty yet sweet and fun, emotional but not too heavy, and dramatic but not unrealistic or over the top.
For the love of angst. This story, as per usual, is chock full of near misses, misunderstandings, and miscommunications that keep El and Jag hurt, angry, and apart. They also served to keep my stomach in knots, my hands white knuckling my ereader, and an unspoken threat in my mind to chuck said ereader across the room if certain situations came to fruition.
How I love Jag, but let's be honest Discovering Us was not his finest hour. Still with all of his flaws and all the issues, he continues to be one of my favorite book boyfriends. This time though, it was El's turn to be unbearably frustrating, unwaveringly stubborn, and annoyingly indecisive. Thank goodness these two finally got their heads on straight as I'm not sure how many more situations could blow up in their faces as a result of distrust or jumping to conclusions before things became irreparable.
Along these lines, I absolutely loved El and Jags' entire love story but especially its conclusion. This story was incredibly realistic. The characters made mistakes, they said things that they did not mean or that they shouldn't have in the heat of the moment, and they behaved poorly. Not only this, but they needed to learn to listen to one another, trust each other, put each other first, and not take each other or their love for granted. As one who met the love of my life as El did decades ago, I understand the hard work that goes into cultivating a deeper, healthier relationship than the effortless young love you fall so easily into in your young naive years. When you have only had one real significant relationship in your life you don't have the trial and error of a few different romances to absorb the tough lessons that need to be learned about loving someone, meeting their needs, communicating effectively, understanding, and sharing your life with someone. El and Jag had to face all of these issues together and overcome all of these very real stumbling blocks together. They had to learn to work things out together and how to move forward together to strengthen and solidify their relationship. I appreciated the realism immensely and became extremely attached to this couple as a result.
Throughout the story, I wasn't always sure that a third book was necessary, but the growth and maturity that was achieved in Finally Us was definitely worth the investment. The core of El's issues in this installment are much the same as Jag's in the previous books so it could be considered a tiny bit redundant. This situation though, was just different enough from the last and the motivation of the third character was a nice twist that kept things interesting and surprising. Not to mention, El definitely needed to learn the valuable lesson that resulted from the circumstances or there is a very real possibility that they never would have made it as far as they've come over the course of their journey.
Finally Us is filled with love and its many pitfalls, drama and all its excitement and anxiety, and romance in all its beautiful, undying glory. It reminded me of everything I loved in the first two books and was the perfect resolution to an epic love story. Finally Us is an ideal conclusion to a remarkable series and I am so sad to see El and Jag go.

"I was five when I first kissed Jag."
This series had me at that line. I think I read this series in a matter of 24 hours. After I had read Gable by Harper Bentley I knew I had to read her other books, so I started with the True Love Trilogy. Holy hell, I could not have asked for a better series. I have never laughed so hard and wanted to strangle someone at the same time. This series is full of every emotion, the best part? They are real emotions, the things that these characters go through were so realistic.
"I was eleven when Jag broke my heart for the first time."
I got to meet this really spunky girl named Ellen who fell in love with a boy named Jag. They became best friends when she was five, when she was eleven she realized that being in the best friend zone sucks. She would never be viewed as more then a friend. That day ended their daily relationship, they became acquaintances for five years. I found this hiatus interesting. Even though she craved his attention, she kept her distance, and that distance payed off because Jag came crashing back in to her life. This time, for the reasons she wanted. She was no longer in the friend zone, she became his soul reason for breathing.
"So… if choking’s considered sexy , I nailed that bitch."
I can’t even begin to tell how amazing these two are together. Ellen’s inner monologue is hysterical and Jag was brilliant with knowing exactly what was on her mind. The thing that I loved about them the most was how they were just able to get each other. Whenever Ellen would throw a hissy fit Jag would just start laughing at her, asking her if she was finished. She would laugh and everything was back to normal. The first three years of there relationship were great. Then Jag got a deal to be a professional Baseball Player and that’s when the trials for their relationship began.
The hardest parts for me to read was their struggle to understand the importance of making the other feel significant. I see all the time on Television Pro players losing their relationships with their High School Sweethearts because the fame just became too much. This is no different for Jag and El. Jag is still so young and naive and doesn’t realize that choices that he makes are effecting the relationship he has with El. She isn’t a jealous person but she does feel pretty average in his high priced world and when he makes her feel worthless she does the only thing she knows, she leaves. I was heart broken for her.
There is a lot of growing and learning between these two characters. The one thing that never changes is their love for other. Even when they try to move on, they are always reminded of the love they have and learn to fight. When Jag fights for Ellen it’s beautiful. I was so proud of him.
I highly recommend this series. I am so glad that I found Harper Bentley, she introduced me to some amazing characters. I can’t wait to read more of her work.
