This wasn’t revealed until the last couple chapters of the last book. I’m glad I didn’t wade all the way through 6 books only to face that at the end. This was definitely not the kind of book I enjoy reading.
What an amazing conclusion to this series. It was so much more complex that I had anticipated and the twists were mind blowing. I think this would have to be my most favourite by Sage Park. After we got all our answers and the truth was finally out in the universe I had a “what the” moment but in the best possible way. Loved how it all wrapped up and Val and Matt and all their families were able to move on with their lives and not hint of the past would interfere with their futures. Enjoyed this entire series very much.

It's amazing to know there are still authors who can write an entire series that is engaging, funny, romantic and totally entertaining without a single "sexcapade". Kudos to Sage Parker for this totally heart warming series. I loved Valerie and Becky's journey of discovery. The family relationship with her parents, her sister and her daughters, filled with love and support was so well written. Highly recommended and I'm looking forward to what Sage has in the works next.
I wasn't in the least surprised of the conclusion in this book. I was committed to finishing the series even though I wasn't in love with the story line by book 4. It might be enjoyable for someone else.

Valarie and her sister have found many different clues to what used to take place at their home in Banner Elk during the summers when they grew up there. As they have been redoing the cabin that their family owns they reminisce about the times and the people that were around them. They remember their father coming out for a weekend or to spend some time with them during the summer but not being able to take off work for the entire summer. They do remember though that their was a family friend who used to spend all her time with their mother and they knew her as Aunt Sharon. Sharon was an special part of their lives and they loved her very much. In previous series books we see that not only did her parents own their cabin but also Sharon's even though they find this strange. Through all the clues they have collected they have come from one theory to another but non of them seems to hold water when they find all the information. In order to solve the mystery the woman decide that they will return Valarie's home and then spend time with their mother who is in an assisted living facility due to her having Alzheimers. They are hoping that they can see their mother on a day when she will be able to tell them exactly what her mother's relationship was with Sharon or if it was a relationship with her father instead. They have decided that they have no ill feelings toward either parent and since their mother is living but their father is not this is the only way they will get the truth. Wow, when their mother finally divulges the facts can the girls handle what they are about to learn or will it change their lives forever. And, what about the cabin and their cabin will they still want to keep those or never return to the area again.
Sage is such a great author and every time I am asked to review one of her stories I can't wait to get right into it.

When I started reading this final book of The Getaway. Cabin series, I wondered how all the gaps would be filled. Since the majority of this book centers on Sharon, we know how everything happened concerning that angle. It was good to know there was no cheating but disappointing to find out why.
We do get a resolution with Val and Matt but learn nothing new about Walt. Maybe there’s a sequel planned?
🤔OBSERVATIONS
➡️ Yes, this is fiction, and I’ve always said a good fiction will be based on reality. To me, this seems more fantasy, such as:
… the outcome of the accident was too far fetched to be believable. Medical examiners unable to determine the sex of a deceased body is unrealistic.
… Sharon must have been one heck of a makeup artist.
… Val’s daughters accepted the news about their grandparents awfully easy. Also, what about finding the biological father/grandfather? Did they ever look for him to find medical history? Does he EVER wonder about his legacy he left behind?
➡️ It’s difficult to weave three separate storylines into one book. The Matt/Val angle needs more depth as does the Walt situation.
➡️ The Walt/mistress angle definitely needs more development. In this book, it’s alluded to how abusive DC power players are to spouses when it comes to control. Well, Walt and his home-breaking fiancé, whose dad is running for president, would be one heck of a story.
➡️ What happened to that gossip magazine reporter that called Val? Gossip ‘rags’ don’t give up easily. What were the repercussions for Walt and his future? I wonder if a sequel/spinoff is in the future?.

Val and Becky decide the only way to find out the truth about Sharon, their mom and dad, is to talk to their mother. So they go to the assisted living facility to see if their mother is up to talking to them. Luckily, their mother is having a good day and talks a little but said the letters would explain things more. After reading the letters, they understand so much. Now on the way back to the cabin, they talk about who to tell about what they found out. Surprisingly, when they arrive at the cabin, another surprise is waiting for them. Val's 3 daughters are waiting for them and let them know that Jordy and Jase are getting married. The girls know their mother is not telling them something. So they bully her into telling them the truth about their Grandparents. So the mystery is solved and Val and Matt become partners in the business of him remodeling and Val designs. Also Becky and Will are together. Becky got her dream job and Will followed her. So everything ended up good
After a long discussion about possible repercussions on visiting their Mother ( in the Long term care facility, being managed for early on-set dementia) and asking her questions only she knows the answers to, they decide to call the Case Manager. She is very truthful with them and says it their Mom has good days and bad days and bad days are bad. They decide to go, as otherwise they will never know the truth. The good news is their Mom is alert and with it when they visit. She is able to give them the truth about herself and their father. A real shocker, that I certainly wasn't prepared for.
Great and unexpected ending Sage. Thank you for bringing us up to real times that happen every day in real life.
A GREAT READ. I received this Arc and am leaving my honest review.
Unfortunately, I didn't like this one. I think when you take a story and stretch it over 6 books you run the risk of not all of them being able to stand alone. This one was the last book in the series, and while it contained the answers to the mystery in the earlier books... it didn't really make sense to me. I didn't find the explanation for all the mystery believable. That said, I don't want to spoil the book and over share the conclusion. There are some sweeter points in this final books: Val and Matt, Val opening up to her daughters, Val and Becky having an open discussion with their mom. I see the book was a success for some, and I am glad some people enjoyed it, I just personally wasn't the target audience I think for this one.
The Getaway Cabin, book 6 is the finale to Val's story. She is a 53 year old woman who was married for 30 years until her husband cheated on her and left without a word and with very little money. She and her sister go to their family's old mountain cabin for her to get away. She reconnects with Matt, a hunky contractor who liked her back when she was younger. Family secrets are finally explained, and wow, it was not what I expected, but oh, so good. And she and Matt finally admit their feelings and kiss again!! Yay!! It was such a good story about finding yourself again and realizing the power of love and family. I loved this series and am sad it's over!! I can't wait for her new series!.

What a surprise ending! Val and Becky finally learn the truth about Sharon, Therese and Walt. After reading the letters from their parents written long ago, they now understand what happened and can finally move on. If anything, this not only brought the family closer together but also Val and Becky closer to their mother. Val made a decision about staying and about Matt. It was nice to have it all come together and seeing everyone happy again. What a HEA ending to the story.

Val and her sister Becky are confused when they see a death certificate stating Sharon died. Four years before Val was born? They grew up seeing Sharon. The only person who can help them has dementia. Will their mom have a good enough day to remember and be willing to answer their questions? If the real Sharon died, who did they know? What about their father? When the truth comes out what is their reactions? A lot of twists and turns, lies and cover ups, and surprise wedding bells?.
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
I started out liking the series, but the twists in characters by the author disappointed me terribly. I read all six books, hoping it would get better. It didn't. The author was very pleased with her story, and she got a lot of new readers for it. But I was saddened that she seemed to put aside the good values used in her other writings to take this in a current cultural direction that didn't align with the past morals.

The last book of The Getaway Cabin as it is so good, do they wanted to know the truth or not, but by having the answers can it set them free. This how series we see the sister come close and as they find question they also find out secrets that the keep from each other and what their parents has keep from them. They are strong people in these book. Read them and get lost in them.

Another fascinating story in a great series with Val and her sister, Becky, discovering family secrets. A totally unexpected and surprising end to this series that reveals shocking truths and a life of deception that Val and Becky must face and reconcile as they accept that their family and home life was a illusion.

Such a wonderful ending to a lovely series, Val's finally get the answers she is looking for and her happily ever after too. This was a brilliant conclusion to the six book series. I loved each one and now that its over I'm having mini good book withdrawals. Sage Parker is a fabulous author and I look forward to more good things from her.

This is the conclusion of the Blue Ridge Mountains series and I didn't figure out the ending until the last minute. This series was much deeper than some of the other series I've read from this author. However, the theme of being true to oneself is a theme I've seen in her work before. Nicely done and very sensitvely written!.

This was an amazing series! It was entertaining, emotional and heartfelt from start to finish. The characters had depth and their journey was page turning. I loved the all the questions and suspense that ended with satisfying twists. This series definitely kept the pages turning. Such an enjoyable read. I totally recommend this series.

I’m not sure why this story had to be divided into 6 books. It could have been combined into one or possibly two. Instead of publishing it as short stories that abruptly ended, the author should have spent more time in the editing process. There were so many spelling and grammatical errors that took away from the story itself. If all of her books are like this, I probably won’t be reading any of her others.
I loved how this story wrapped up. Several surprises but sweet. The two sisters took the news from their mother fairly well. They were shocked but glad they found out the truth. On the whole, the story was well presented and I enjoyed all of the books.

Great conclusion to Val, Matt and her family's story. The author brings strong characters and reveals secrets as the mystery is solved. She moves the story quickly and smoothly and wraps it up perfectly. I enjoyed reading this series.

What a story. It was full of so many happy times, relatable issues, personal struggles, wonderful characters, love, understanding, forgiveness, forever friendships, and ended beautifully. Not one book in this series disappointed. This is definately one of Sage's best story sets to date!! Loved it!.

I was not expecting the story of Sharon and Richard. Having Val and Becky's mom give them the story with the letters was interesting. It was confusing at first but then revealed it all out. I am so happy with the epilogue. That was a great series.

Val and Becky have to figure out the mystery around Sharon and their mom. They want to go talk there mother in the nursing home but are afraid she won’t remember or will get very agitated. They decided to try anyway. There mom does remember enough to shock them even more! I received a free book and I am volunteering leaving a review.
I rated each book with 3 stars but by the end of this last book, I’m giving the entire series 4 1/2 stars. The overall story concept is phenomenal and very up to date as far as with what’s going on in our world these days. An excellent way to interlace it in to a “regular” story that ends in a fantastic way I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I loved it was written in 6 books less overwhelming. Told well without losing track of the plot which can happen at times. I didn’t always understand Matt’s moodiness but they were so cute together. It was great to read something not filled with cuss words and graphic sex. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good sweet love story
The Getaway Cabin, 6 is the finale to Val's story. The sisters take a chance and go visit their mother (under care for dementia) to ask her about the family secrets. They find out about the deception they never picked up on in their earlier lives. Some other family loose ends are tied up and we have a HEA. It was a good story although it took 6 short books to get there.
Loved that Val and Becky got the answers they were seeking about their parents. It didn't change how much they loved them. Was glad that Val and Matt get the HEA. Great series ending. Received a free copy.
