Rounding up to 4 stars. I didn't feel like book 2 was as good as book 1. The same questions were left unanswered with no real arc throughout the book. We are left with even more questions at the end of the book and all I can keep thinking is just give me the whole book already! I want to know where this story leads. I'm hoping my guess is NOT correct with Val's mom but I'll have to keep going to find out. Also, I wonder what exactly is with Walter...I have to remember, did he say he fell in love with someone else as we all are led to believe or is there something more going on there? I feel like I'm back in the 90's having to wait a whole week for the next episode to find out more!.

Where book 1 grabbed my attention right away, this one didn’t. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t needed. We get a lot of background for transitioning into future books and another puzzle to figure out.
It’s that puzzle that has me hoping it’s NOT what I’m led to believe. It concerns Val and Becky finding out some questionable things concerning their mother, Sharon and their father.
The phone call from Walter, Val’s cheating husband, was much more interesting than the cliffhanger about Sharon. What is Walt up to? From what Val said about lawyers in their circle of friends offering her pro bono representation, I’m wondering if Walt’s career and/or personal life is taking a downturn?
As for Matt, we might have learned what his problem is with Val. Is it as simple as not getting over a high school crush or does it go deeper?
🤔WISHES and WANTS…
➡️ Really hope the mother and Sharon angle is not PC!
➡️ Very much want more of the Val/Walt story. Walt needs some tough love, with the emphasis on tough… like reaping what he sowed.
➡️ Looking forward to see how Matt and Val steer their relationship… or do they? Hmmm, that’s my hope but he seems to be relating pretty good with Becky right now.
➡️ My hope is for a Val/Matt happy ever after while Walt only can sit back and watch…seeing what his bad choices cost him. His pitiful ‘I’m Sorry’ phone call and no follow through shows exactly what kind of man he is.

When Valerie and her sister make it to the cabin they realize that the person who was supposed to be taking care of it obviously did nothing but pocket the money. Now they are going to have to spend a lot of money, which neither of them have, to bring it just back into a livable condition. Wait, didn't one of their friends from high school do renovation work. Wasn't he the son of one of her mothers friends. Yes Matt is the one they are wondering about and so they talk to his mother who sends him over to take a look. Valerie wants to know why Matt is so angry with her and what could have happened in the past to make him so cross with her. During this episode we also find out that their mothers best friend Sharon who spent all her time with them over the vacations they took here has a cabin of her own right behind theirs. In looking through the cabin they find all sorts of stuff that makes no sense being there. Now we are delving into what was the relationship between their parents and Sharon. Who was she to them and why is the cabin in their fathers name not hers. Like all of Sage Parker's books here we go, jump into the rabbit hole and see if you can figure it all before the last book. Oh how fun we will have over the next couple of weeks. Bring it on.......

The sister get two shocks! First they find out that their father owned not one cabin but two cabins, but the other shock you must read the book to find out.i cannot spoil it for you! They cannot believe it it or the things the find in the other house. They are so disappointed & can’t believe what they are seeing. It’s like they are in a dream. Like the cabin they are staying in it is run down, but this one is surely in worse shape. They can’t afford to fix up one, let alone two! What are they going to do. Matt who was a childhood friend when they visited in the summer is a construction worker & has agreed to help them out, but there’s no way he can help them with both houses. So what will they do?? What will they do? How will they work this out with no money. Valarie’s husband left here high& dry when she was out of the house. He cleaned out all of their band accounts. Took all the furniture that he wanted & trashed the house like a robbery & will not answer her phone calls. Then he suddenly calls her & apologizes. Did his new lady friend drop him or what?
I was given this Advance Reader for free & I am giving my review for free in my own words. I can’t wait for the next book to see what it’s tells. I can’t wait to see what secrets we find out.
Wait, what just happened? Could it be??? Val and Becky's mom and Sharon, please do spill.... This is worthy of five stars even though this is only book two. This series has me glued to my kindle and is worth every minute of my free time. What will be revealed next and will we find out the truth? Will Val put Walter in his place for deceiving her and their daughters or will she cave? I hope she closes that chapter of her life, tells her daughters the truth, and finds her happy ever after. I can't wait for book three!!.

Now that Valerie and Becky have approval to fix the up the cabin, they hire Matt to inspect and provide an estimate of what needs to be fixed and for how much. In the meantime, Valerie receives a phone call from Walter wanting to talk to her alone. What could he be up to? The ladies are still trying to find Sharon to get information about their father’s clothes and company books in Sharon’s cabin. There are more questions unanswered. The story leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to read the next book to learn what’s going on.

Well this book had a very interesting twist to it at the end and I desperately need the next book to see exactly what Sage Parker has in store for us. Could it be that it was not Val and Becky’s father who was stepping out on his wife with Sharon but it could be their mother? This totally blew my mind. Val and Becky are starting to undertake repairs to the cabin with the help from Matt but he is still a mystery. I am loving this series. Cannot wait for next week to get the next much anticipated instalment.

As Val and Becky start working on the cabin, they find things are a little more complicated then they thought. It's going to cost more then they thought and finding their fathers things in Sharon's cabin doesn't help. As the sisters ask questions about Sharon, they find people careful with their answers. Then they meet up a with a friend's mom who remembers Sharon very well. When the woman states the girls shouldn't blame their mother to much, the girls are stunned. But the woman won't answer any more questions, and quickly leaves. What is their mother guilty of? What did it have to do with Sharon and their father?
This 2nd book in the series gave us a little more information, but also more questions. Who was Sharon and what was her relationship with her parents? Matt was friendlier but there were a lot of repairs to do on the cabin that the two sisters could not afford. It was interesting when the girls questioned some of the town people about her parents and Sharon, that they shut up or had to go. Can't wait until the next part.

Val and Becky find some surprising news about their parents; is it the truth? Tome will tell if they are right. Why is Matt so distant towards Val? I like how Ms Parker gives glimpses of different memories of the same incidents. Becky is more perceptive than originally portrayed. Val is a mess, as to be expected, since her husband of thirty years left her like the cheating coward he is😡! There are more questions surfacing that definitely need answers. Bring on book three! I am so ready for the next installment!
This Booksprout ARC picked up from the first with more questions added.
Now I am so curious! This is the second book in a series and it has be asking so many questions. I really need to know more about Sharon and her involvement with Valerie and Becky's father: I was eagerly reading through the book, when bam it was over, leaving me desperate to read the next instalment. Sage Parker does it again, this a brilliant book 2, now I need Book 3 cant wait to see what happens...love love love this series!.

The Getaway Cabin is another fantastic book in the fabulous Blue Ridge Mountains series. I love Sage Parker's story telling with fascinating characters facing real life challenges and issues. Sage has done it again and after reading the book cover to cover in one sitting, another cliff hanger leaves me desperately waiting for the next book in the series.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am providing my honest opinion.
This is book 2 of the series continuing Val's story, who, after almost 30 years of marriage, was abruptly left by her husband. Now, at 53, she has gone to an old family cabin. In this installment, more questions are raised, but no real answers yet. I want to know more about Sharon and why Matt is so cold towards Val if he had feelings for her when young. I am still interested in the story but didn't like this installment as much as the first one. I'm looking forward to book 3!
Betsy and Val are staying at the cabin and have found out they now own another cabin. They started going thru it. What they found shocked them! Sharon, their mom’s friend, clothes and their father’s clothes in the same bedroom closet! Were they having an affair? I received a free book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Getaway Cabin, Book 2, finds Valerie and Becky putting together some upsetting news about their father. Matt continues to be cold toward Valerie for some unknown reason. The girls try to reconnect with the small community. A cliffhanger occurs as Becky and Valerie receive shocking news.

The second book in the series raises more questions than are answered. The women are questioning towns people with no luck and Matt is being more friendly. It ends with another cliffhanger and has me looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
The sisters discovered that their family owned two cabins, both in poor repair. They are surprised and confused by what they found in the second cabin? What happened back then? Who and where is Sharon? How does their dad play into it?.
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
Becky and her sister Valeria are trying to figure up why dad clothes are in Sharon cabin. They know that their parents own both cabins. But why is everything so hard to decide what is what. So read and see what is going on.

Lots of questions and few answers. Who is Sharon to their father and why all of a sudden does he want to rethink things with Val? The daughters find out about another rundown cabin. How will they get answers?.

Book 2 in this twisty saga did not disappoint! This is a page turner and an absolute delight. It's highly entertaining and with so many layers to these amazing characters. The series is definitely worth the read. I'm so curious about the next book...

The sisters are reeling after finding out their father may have led a double life. How can they find out more about the mysterious Sharon, who no one wants to talk about?
I'm enjoying thinking up my own theories while reading this!.

I found this to be a slower read than Book 1 but it was interesting and left us with more questions with so far, few answers. Valerie has yet to really accept that her husband of almost 30 years has really left for good, no explanation, no contact. What secrets does Sharon’s cabin hold? I really look forward to Book 3 and see if it will hold any answers or only more questions.
The suspense builds! Val & Becky are searching for Sharon, their mother’s childhood friend. After discovering their family owned the cabin Sharon lived in, they also discover their father’s things there. Can they figure out what is going on? No one is willing to talk to them about it….

Wonderful continuation of the story. Enjoy reading about an older character that has to start over because their life as they know it has changed dramatically. Makes for very interesting reading. Cannot wait to continue the story.

Just when I think I have things figured out, another twist comes along. Sisters Val and Becky are visiting (and restoring) their childhood cabin when they discover their family owns another cabin next door. They find items there that leave more questions in their mind. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
In book 2 of this 6-part series of cliffhangers Val and Becky start working on the cabin and they find things are a little more messed up then they thought. It's going to cost a lot more than they anticipated or even have. The mystery about their parents and Sharon deepens. Some of the townspeople know something that they aren't telling. Next step- book 3.
