“The moment this snapshot was taken, our fates were set.”

Winnie
The moment Reese Larson entered my life, everything shifted. From the boy next door, to my brother’s best friend, he was always just… there, and it didn’t take long for my young heart to fall for him.
Until one night that should have never happened shatters everything. By morning, he was gone, and he took my heart with him.
When he pops back into my life, the gravitational pull from when we were kids kicks into overdrive. I’m just not sure I’m ready to move past the hurt.
The thing about fate, though? There’s no changing it. You can delay it, but eventually, it’s going to catch up to you.

Reese
There are two things in life I’m sure hockey is the best sport, and Winnie Lewis is my girl. I fucked one of those up, and it wasn’t hockey.
I was an idiot and have regretted the way I left ever since. Letting her go once was a mistake that I don’t plan to make again. No matter how bad she wants to pretend she can ignore the invisible line between us.
She thinks she can fight fate, and I’d be lying if I didn’t enjoy seeing her try.
But I’m done with the games. I want my girl.
Winnie Lewis may have stolen my first kiss, but I plan to rob her of much more than that. A kiss will never be enough—I want her heart.

Snapshot is the first book in the interconnected Emerson University series, but each book revolves around its own couple and can be read as a standalone. Snapshot is a college-based, hockey romance that contains some heavy themes and situations that some readers may find triggering. I love this new direction that KB has taken. Reese made my heart flutter and swoon, that boy is simply perfect. Winnie too, you can not deny their chemistry or deep rooted love, care and admiration.
Their journey wasn't easy, and let me tell you it hurt at times. Please seek out the TW.
I really like this world and group of friends they surround R&W. I definitely need more!!

“Snapshot” was filled with quite a bit of drama and miscommunication. Winnie and Reece are childhood friends who become lovers. Their relationship is quite up and down throughout the story. Reece gets involved with his best friend’s sister, which is a no-no, especially when Winnie’s brother finds Reece in a compromising situation that he finds unforgivable. Between that and Winnie’s, why isn’t he calling me scenes? “Snapshot” is a very young book dealing with several mature themes. Those themes are noted, though. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the brother’s best friend trope and college romances. KB Row stayed true to the characteristics of how a college-aged kid would act, unlike some college romances I’ve read, where they seem like grown adults. I needed to remind myself a few times that Reece and Winnie were young and that how they respond to specific situations is likely authentic.

4.5 stars!

Whew what a book. My first ARC read so thanks to the author for that!

I really enjoyed the story of Winnie and Reese. Nothing gets me like childhood friends to lovers to enemies (sort of) back to lovers 🫠 and the way Reese loved Winnie, gah that man knows how to love. So many heavy moments but also light moments, my favorite being Eeyore (iykyk). This book was wonderfully told and I liked the present time/flashbacks inserted so we really got a nice depth and understanding of the characters. Only knocking off half a star because some of the drama was more high school level instead of college, which I didn’t expect/love. But overall such a good read!

I can’t wait for the other books in this series. Hopefully Sawyer and Laney next 🙏🏼🧎🏼‍♀️also if Eli is getting a book he better have a good redemption arc cause that man really grinded my gears, although he did get better at the end.

To say I devoured this book is an understatement! I was blessed to receive the ARC and KB Row hit it out of the park! Reese and Winnie are the true goals of the brother’s best friend’s trope. Their relationship withstood so much and I just loved them!

There are TW in this book so please read them before jumping in. But they were written appropriately! Which is key with TW’s.

I cannot wait to continue this series. I have inklings of which characters will get their own books and I am excited!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I had an ARC copy and I am so glad I did! I could not put this book down! The way Reese groveled and made sure to prove Winnie was it for him warmed my heart. This book had me giggling and my jaw dropped a couple times! I am usually not a fan of a pregnancy trope but the way they both were scored made me so happy. 10/10 recommend this book for all the fuzzy feelings!

PS KB Row I really hope there is a Sawyer and Laney book in the works!

ARC Review

I found KB Row last year with break for me. I feel in love. I jumped at getting an arc. This story was so good. Started rocky but when you start to learn more and the pieces click. Reese is all about Winnie it just means convincing her he’s serious. The way Reese fawns all over her was fantastic. Can’t wait for the next book.

There was so much wrong with this book.

We will start with the fact that at the adult age of 19 he decides it’s a good idea to take the virginity of his best friend’s 16 year old sister. Now I was going to overlook that until he full on admitted that it was a manipulation tactic to keep her attached to him. And then the next thing he does is ghost her for 2 fucking years. 🤡

And if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s a flashback when he was 17 and he was talking about how he was developing feelings for her while she was only 14. 🤢🤮

This guy was a fucking disaster. He was manipulative and selfish and a fucking coward. His obsession with her wasn’t sweet or endearing, it was fucking creepy and sad.

And another thing that bothered me was the fact that there was no continuity in this book whatsoever. The author couldn’t seem to get her timeline straight and there was a lot of conflicting information. Also, it was way too long and there were far too many flashbacks. So many fucking flashbacks.

What a mess

genuinely can't believe this author is fairly new one, and i was so so pleasantly surprised

books where the MMC and MC danced around each other as kids will ALWAYS have my heart and this book fed my soft spot for this. add that in with a BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND trope and i'm on the damn floor because I live for those stolen moments between them.

Reese Larson (H) hockey captain for Emerson University has been knowing he had made huge mistake leaving his best friend's sister two years ago after a stolen night between them and knowing this he makes it his mission to win her back by any and all means and when he finally sees her again when she enrolls to his college, he seizes the opportunity. and this man WORKS for it.

"Tricking me into attending your party? Stating I'm off-limits?"
"You are, baby."

and this was like literally day she came back 😭

Winnie Lewis (h)—because she struggled making friends her whole life became like a third member of her brother and Reese's friendship, always tagging along and always there. And because of this she has ALWAYS been infatuated with her brother's best friend but when he leaves her for two years without a single goodbye, she throws away any notion of an "us" with him again and when she sees him again she intends to keep it that way. however when Reese is in every corner of her life and view its hard to ignore him.

the comedic scenes and side characters were all enjoyable and the level of Reese's obsession with Winnie was borderline crazy and I LOVED IT.

this man fr stuffed himself into a giant stuffed animal, RANG HER DOORBELL with the intention of her unknowingly dragging it into her apartment with him in it so that he could talk to her like- LMFAOOO OKAY. and he was so incredibly sweet and gentle with Winnie that i was shoving my face into my pillow to muffle my squealing.

tropes
➣ brother's best friend
➣ "its always been you"
➣ she falls first but he falls harder
➣ second chance
➣ groveling
➣ obsessed j/p MMC!!
possibly a spoiler trope

*notable trigger warning*

I really enjoyed this book!

This is the story of Winnie and Reese. Reese is Winnie's brothers best friend but he is also her best friend. They spend a good bit of time together when they are younger. Reese leaves without saying goodbye after a pretty pivotal point in their relationship and goes off to college to pursue his hockey. Reese has had a pretty rubbish home life with crappy parents so perhaps doesn't make the best decisions.

By the time we join them in college Reese and Winnie's brother are no longer friends but he is ALL about Winnie and getting her back. Very committed from the get go! They get together fairly early on then have to go through a good bit of crap. There is a massive trigger warning in this book for pregnancy loss so if it upsets you I'd avoid.

I am 100% a sucker for firsts and virgin MC's so this book was right up my street.

I knocked it down 1 star because I didn't really like Reese's explanation as to why he left without saying goodbye and never contacted Winnie for 2 years. I think that could have been better.

I'm desperate for Sawyer and Laney's book, all the hints dropped throughout this one were brilliant! I already really dislike Amy! I hope Sawyer has a good reason for sticking with her.

This is an arc review but all opinions are my own!

Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down, it literally consumed my entire day and I couldn’t stop myself from binge reading it.
KB always manages to find the perfect balance between the book being fun and easy while also touching on darker themes while it still not being a ‘dark romance’.
Reese is the perfect example of somewhat being a golden retriever boyfriend while also having that bit of possessiveness and edge.
My favourite thing about the entire book was the found family trope. I loved all the side characters and absolutely can’t wait for more books in the series. You definitely go through all the emotions with these characters so be prepared. Please do check trigger warning as there is a major plot point that I know is a trigger for alot of people.
Some of the characters decisions did frustrate me and sometimes it did feel as though more detail could be have been given hence the drop in stars.

Thank you for the ARC, KB!

“The moment this snapshot was taken, our fates were set.”

Snapshot is the first book in the Emerson University series by KB Row. College hockey, childhood friends, brother’s best friend. And so much more.

What happens when a line is crossed and everything changes? Time goes by, but the heart always remembers.

Reese screwed up but he will do everything to make it right. Winnie hasn’t forgotten but fate can’t be stopped.

In true KB fashion, I cried. More than I would’ve expected with this one. It’s witty and sweet, straightforward and relatable. Maybe that’s why; it’s easy to love Winnie and Reese and so it’s heart wrenching to feel their grief. You just want them to win and it’s hard to see it almost slip away again, but so understandable. I loved the flashbacks. Putting the pieces together. He always knew she was the one. Reese is goals and Winnie is the girl we all wish we could be.

I already love this new world KB has created and can’t wait to see what happens next.

“Winnie Lewis may have stolen my first kiss, but I plan to rob her of much more than that. A kiss will never be enough—I want her heart.”

“I can’t give up on us, Win. I have to prove to you that we are it. You and I are the goal, baby.”

“I’d wait an eternity for you. But please don’t make me.”

“Isn’t it obvious, Win? It’s you. It’s always been you.

“She’s everything to me. You met me without Winnie, but you don’t know me when I’m with her. Everything is better. She makes me want to be the best version of myself. To you, I’m the hockey guy. You think that’s the one thing in life I love, but it’s not. Hockey is my life, but she’s my world, man.”

“She’s my exception. My favorite girl. My everything.”

ARC REVIEW - 5 stars
Don't know where to begin, but I think the most appropriate thing to start with is that I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!! KB Row did an amazing job in writing such an amazing story with relatable characters!
Winnie and Reese go through so many different obstacles, both individually and together, to find their happy ending that you can't help but root for them till the end. The storyline is so good you won't want to set this book down! The dual timeline really helps you understand how they got to the place they find themselves in and how much they are meant for each other. They went from bff to lovers to enemies and then lovers again. This book broke my heart and but it back together just to break it again and then finally glue it back together.
I do wish the ending was a little longer but that's only because I can't get enough of these two. I can't wait to read Book 2 in this series and hopefully we get to see more of Reese and Winnie (and their future).
Thank you KB Row for the Arc opportunity !!!!

Reese and Winnie were best friends and neighbors growing up, as she always tagged along with her older brother, Elijah. Then, a tragedy strikes the group. The story starts when the three are at the same college, but in different places in life. Elijah holds a lot of resentment, and Reese is ready to get Winnie; however, Winnie cannot deal with the possibility of him leaving her again after the last time they saw each other. As Winnie and Reese grow closer, the two have a lot to overcome, especially regarding her brother. I love that Reese is already planning for their future, but my heart broke for the three of them in the end. KB Row’s writing is so beautiful. While the story is heavy, there are also light moments, like all the tv show mentions. I cannot wait to see what is next for the Emerson University crew. This is a dark book, so please check the trigger warnings (but please be mindful of the spoiler alert).

The moment this snapshot was taken, our fates were set.
Oh my goodness! I didn’t know what to expect based on this from the blurb, but Snapshot was so good!
I love Winnie and Reese! Parts of this brought me to my childhood and was almost a way of giving hope for myself. Reese is so sweet and the way he loves Winnie… 😍 Winnie is smart, artistic, and a little bit awkward.
Not the spiciest book, but I think considering the circumstances around the main characters😉 the spice was perfect!

I think sometimes people fight because they don’t know how to love.
STFU. I felt this in my HEART. 🥹

Even small issues can feel like big issues if you’re close enough.
All the above are JUST from the Prologue!

Chapter 7: Squealing, kicking my feet, and shoving a pillow over my face! The flashbacks are SO good!

I’d wait an eternity for you. But please don’t make me.
SWOON.

Cute. Gag me.

OMG this book takes you on wild ride. Brothers best friend just hits a way that takes everything out of you and makes it warm and fuzzy. Add in hockey, possessive, pregnancy/loss of... and you've got yourself one heck of a book. Snapshot was beautiful, from handling some HEAVY topics to making sure there's a happy ever after it was perfect. Winnie and Reece are destined to be together, but there's a problem Winnies brother Elijah hates Reece. Two friends that used to be thick as thieves turned to nothing. Until Winnie shows up in town and has Reece all messed up. True love finds it's way and this whirlwind was SO worth it. I loved these two, their entire story and I honestly loved how Reece and Elijah come back to one another as "Brothers".

K.B. Row you did an amazing job with this story! Winnie & Reese are absolutely couple goals!! There is so much love between these two that even when things go epically wrong they can’t forget about each other.

There is so much going on in this story but it never feels like too much or that you don’t get enough detail. You do have to pay attention but that definitely isn’t hard with this captivating read. Childhood friends to lovers to enemies back to lovers and all the emotions in between are delivered so well you won’t want to put this book down. I’d definitely say this was a great start to a new series and can’t wait for book 2.

a good read, but nothing really special.
the love story is genuinely sweet, however, there wasnt much depth to it- readers can find it difficult to connect emotionally or become invested. The loss of the baby felt unecessary at one point, because it added virtually nothing to the story. I wish it had become some turning point, or had more impact to the storyline. Unfortunately too, the reason behind Elijah’s hatred to Reese wasn’t well-thought. It was too small and unreasonable to be corresponded as a real reason. The reason why Reese felt abruptly, the way Zoey and Amy was portrayed as very naughty and villain-y girls felt cery shallow.

After reading the Broken series, I had to dive into this book. KB Row has a way of writing her characters that I just can’t resist. This book was definitely different than the Broken series, but I really enjoyed the change of pace. It wasn’t perfect, and I think the conflict at the end came too late, but I do think that the series will get better and better. There is a lot of potential with several side characters — the coming stories have the potential to be darker, which I always love.

This was a solid 4 ⭐ book. I liked the little flashback stories to their childhood and getting to see how their relationship really began.

It definitely had some sad parts and trigger warnings. I guessed the plot at some points. And some things were overdone and others not and for over 400 pages it felt like it ended rather suddenly. I had lots of questions at the end and I didn't really get to hear how their story would play out long term but all in all, slightly different hockey romance that I enjoyed! And also my first KB Row book. Excited for the rest of the series.

4/5 ⭐

This book was absolutely adorable, and that last part? RUDE. My heart was not prepared for that level of emotional devastation. But you know I’ll be first in line for the next book especially if it means more Laney and Sawyer (or, let’s be real, the hot doc… because whew).

Highly recommend if you’re into hockey romance—but don’t expect it to be dripping in hockey drama. It’s more about the chemistry than the ice, and I’m so here for it.

2⭐️ not my cup of tea besides the hockey. Alsmot DNF when their coach???? apparently refers to all girls as p*ssy???? A COACH?? This was crazy. And honestly there was no chemistry to me, it was all one sided from Reese. And then Reese was toxic as is sns

“Well, what did you do? You know, to make her yours?” He smirks before meeting my eyes with a distant look. “What any lovestruck man would do. Anything it took.”

Snapshot was an emotional rollercoaster with high highs and some really low lows. KB did a great job creating flawed, messy, and relatable characters who grew over the course of the story. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
