Written in 1952, but even almost 70 years later no one in DARPA or NSF or any other influential and supposedly visionary agencies was able to understand the importance of human creativity. NO ONE!
Which country was able to achieve a total world domination?
The one that developed the first atomic bomb?
No.
The one that developed the first hydrogen bomb?
No.
The one that placed the first man in cosmos?
No.
The one that placed the first man on the Moon?
No.
Future over-hyped technologies like “AI” with its various applications, augmented reality, controlled fusion, or else, also will not be able to give a significant advantage to one country over others (probably, for good). But there is one technology that can do that - the technology for unlocking human creativity en masse. This technology does not yet exist. And no country is working on it, just yet. The one that start the first will have all the advantage.

What a superb story. Published in December 1952 it shows no sign of age. Indeed, were it published today, I would be recommending it for the awards.

One of the best and most optimistic stories about the hidden abilities of our minds.
