He owns me. Controls me. Will he love me? For a hundred years I’ve been chained to a bed and used by humans. I’m a pathetic, broken excuse for a demon. An incubus who is lost.

All I know is fear.

I drift, dream and dissociate. It is my only escape.

I barely remember being kept in a billionaire’s harem. I hardly recall these paranormal boys who call me their friend. They say we are free now. I’m not so sure.

My new keeper is called Mal. He is handsome and dangerous. He feeds me well and pulls me back to reality. He is stern and dominating, and I think I like it. Surrendering to his will would be so easy.

I think he likes me. I think he cares enough to catch me when I fall.

But I don’t trust. I can’t trust. That part of me has been shattered into a thousand pieces.

Is Mal strong enough to hold me so tight that all my jagged parts fit back together?

Or is he my final destruction?

Unfettered Demon is the third book in the Found & The Unfettered series, which follows the lives of seven paranormal boys after they escape a billionaire's harem. The books are best read in order but can be enjoyed as standalones. There are no cliffhangers and happy ever after is always guaranteed.

Unfettered Demon contains hurt/comfort, a captor/captive type situation, forced proximity, possessiveness, “touch him and X,” and learning how to be loved when you don't feel worthy.

In this book we met our murder baby Gray.
He's a demon and a total (but cute) psycho.

When he was "freed" he was totally out of control so he was assigned to Mal, at the start of the book we don't know what Mal is, only that he is powerful in is own right.

Mal was employed to tame Gray so he won't murder the whole humanity while he's out of his mind.
Gray starts to come around and starts to like Mal, but Mal has a few secrets, specially one that could put the relationship at risk.

“Humiliation is my oldest companion.”

Gray is an incubus, a sex demon, and has been kept in prison for hundreds of years, chained and kept and used. Of all the boys kept he had it worst, always chained.
Now he has a new owner Mal, who will help him rehabilitate and promised to set him free. Gray doesn’t believe him. As if!
Gray feels small, and pathetic and is envious of the ones who can die. He’ll never be free.

“ Death is a reward, not a punishment.”

Only, it seems Mal is indeed different. He feeds Gray and fills him with his seed when needed (a lot 🥵).
Gray knows Mal is powerful, the way he acts.

“He doesn’t need to break me. I’m already broken.”

It wasn’t planned but Mal is head over heels for the dangerous but oh-so-vulnerable demon.
If Gray ever learns about Mal’s secret… he can’t think about it, it would end him.

There are a few side steps in this read but overall it’s mainly built around Mal and Gray. All the boys are there, utterly protective over Gray. It’s a captivatingly written, delicious, spicy hurt/comfort narrative.
Great story, great series!!

This book made me ridiculously happy! I always find it fascinating when a character is relearning everything for the first time. I think it’s because it shows how much we take for granted. I absolutely love gray and mal they were adorable together

A sweet, damaged incubus and the man tasked to be his keeper as he heals.
Unfettered Demon touches on a lot of heavy subjects and Gray has a lot of trauma to deal with.
Very steamy throughout but the feelings and relationship between Mal and Gray is a slow burn.
I think it's better to read this after the other 2 in this series for context on the other characters and more of an understanding of what happened to Gray before they were rescued.
Great read

I’m thoroughly enjoying these super steamy yet emotionally sweet books about freed former sex slaves/former harem of ethereally good-looking paranormals, all of whom need recovery and TLC in different ways.

Here, Gray is an incubus demon who was restrained in captivity for more than 100 years and has nearly lost his mind. Mal is someone with the mysterious ability to interact with a demon and not die while “servicing” Gray’s sexual-nutrition needs and bring Gray back into his own mind and autonomy.

They’re living in the basement of the house of rescued paranormals—all the characters of the other books—and the found family element is in full force. Gray has been too dangerous to others to get to interact yet, but Mal’s “treatment” is bringing him back to himself, and the book opens at the point where he’s nearly able to emerge and join the household without accidentally killing anyone. We see his first forays into the group, which is sweet and funny (and potentially dangerous, but, only by accident!).

Gray and Mal have a dynamic in which Mal must make Gray think Mal controls him, which festers with Mal, who wants nothing more than for Gray to become fully autonomous but can’t tell him that he’s free, lest Gray hurt others and do things he’ll regret. That weighs on Mal. Gray goes along with Mal’s orders but loves feeding on Mal, wants him, yet does believe he must do anything Mal says. There’s no consent because at first there can’t be, creating strong tension and a moral dilemma that is intense for the romance. Working through this issue is a focus of the character arcs.

Mal also figures out a creative way to get Gray the full nutrition he needs (he CANNOT survive on only one man’s semen alone…literally cannot!) without anyone else getting to touch or be with Gray sexually, and I appreciated it and surprised myself by having no issues with it. Ha. I can be taught! LOL. These two are so sweet together, but of course the looming control/consent issue is there to raise stakes and wreak havoc on our falling-hard-and-fast MCs. Such fun!

I continue to be baffled by the weird lack of character development with backstory. Mal does…what for the paranormal organization? He got called to help Gray by...who? How? WHAT? His parents…we find out what they are but not much more, or what his entire life was like till now, really, and, the issue of him being older than Gray physically is never addressed. I mean, Gray is more than one thousand, though his captivity reduced him to the mindset of an abused teen for a while, and Mal appears to be fifty-ish (very hot to Gray)—but there’s nothing addressed on what kind of future they can have if Mal is aging at a human rate (is he?) and Gray never ages/is immortal. This is getting VERY frustrating in these books (and I already read/had the same issue w book 5, the vampire-human story). For Gray. we get a glimpse of his former life when his friends (? Relatives???) show up for him, but, almost nothing on his former life or passions or…anything.

It’s a contradiction in that the author is terrific at showing your who the characters are via actions/interactions but misses the boat every time on developing anything about their personal histories and layers. As if they’re both very good and very bad at character development. *scratcheshead* In every book, the characters exist only in the present moment, and you learn very little if anything more. *shrugs*

HEA, but is it really? How many years will they have together? We don’t know. So…HFN?! They’re together. No cheating and no sex with others, though there is creative action taken on how to get Gray the full nutrition he needs (and there is an exhibitionist interlude in a sex club as part of that). Recommended, as is the series.

A demon can love

This was another truly complicated book to write for its subject and attached issues. Grey being an incubus, a demon completely dependent on sex to survive, yet having been kept captive as a sex slave for years so now he hates it too. As an incubus Grey is also very powerful and can kill anyone who comes near him and maybe even the other harem boys if he loses himself, so there was a lot at stake with him. But this story found a way to really do him justice.

To help Grey the Council sends Mal, a demon handler. This man does indeed seem to know how to deal with demons and seems to be strong enough to stop Grey from hurting him without hurting Grey either. At first it seems that Mal is just there to feed Grey and get him back out into the world, but as the harem faces threats even in the outside world Mal ends up sticking around and starting a relationship with Grey. Mal has his own mysterious past and as Grey is slowly getting to remember his life before the coven we learn bits more about the mystery that is Mal. There are quite the hurdles for these two, from making sex something other than what it was in the harem, to figuring out how to feed Grey enough without tripping his PTSD. At the same time Grey is learning more about himself and Mal is seeing a life he didn't think he could ever have. It was an impressively satisfying result for a difficult storyline and it leaves me excited to see what comes next in this series!

I seem to be reading every book in this series in a single sitting, and this one was no exception. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and easily held if for the entire book. Grey has been present in the other books, and we got a little introduction to Mal in Lellow's book, and I really enjoyed getting their story. Like the other books in the series, this story does have some dark elements to it. This one didn't seem to have as much action, although there was some. It does have more spice than the others, but that is expected when one of the MCs is an incubus!

Grey was way sweeter than I expected him to be. After all he's been through, I would absolutely expect him to be angry and bitter. And he does start out that way, but he opens up quickly under Mal's care. Mal is a bit of an enigma. He's got the tough guy act down, but he is super sweet and caring with Grey and the other boys. He is such a caretaker and I couldn't help but like him.

I am still absolutely loving this series. These boys have been through so much and they all deserve their HEA. Mal and Grey could definitely use some work on their communication, but they still seem to really understand each other. The story had plenty of steam, angst, and some sass that had me laughing. I am excited to read the next book!

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review

Dark, hurt/comfort, mates

Grey is an incubus who was betrayed in the worst way possible and has spent over a thousand years trapped, abused and passed on.
He's become lost in his mind as a protection.
Mal is brought in to help bring him back and get him acclimated to human life.
These two were sizzling hot together but I was pleasantly surprised by how secretly sweet they both were with one another.
Grey struggles with coming back to life but slowly finds he has friends in the other guys and is eager to develop those friendships.
When Grey takes care of a problem for Mal it sets into motion retaliation from some unsavory people.
An envoy is sent to retrieve Grey and it's revealed that Mal lied to Grey, another betrayal.
Grey leaves, devastated and heart broken.
A young man, Sammy who Mal has helped in the past is in trouble and seeks Mal out.
Grey's actions cause Sammy to be hurt and it's almost lethal for Mal trying to rescue him.
Grey comes to their rescue and they reconnect.
I'm curious about Sammy and I really hope he gets a story.

This was a good read as Mal fought to bring Grey back and feed him enough that he could thrive while learning to live a more "normal" life. I loved some of the ingenious ways that Mal found to feed Grey without adding to his trauma. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with nature content.

Grey is so sweet!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, as Grey isn’t all that lucid for most of the previous two books. Turns out, Grey is just as sweet and damaged as Lello. Poor guy.

Mal is a frightening but necessary presence in the other books. He goes through a major transformation here, but right from the start you can see the hints that he cares about Grey. Though it’s a bit of a process to watch him wrestle with his own thoughts and come around. Another review mentioned that you don’t get to know Mal all that well, and I didn’t actually have an issue with this. You get plenty of hints about his life to be able to guess at who he was. But by the end of the book, he’s changed so fundamentally — I think the author made the right decision by leaving the darker details unsaid.

Just like the others, this book has some very dark moments. But it’s largely overshadowed by a really sweet romance.

I've read 4 of the books in this series and this one is my favorite. I devoured it. I absolutely love Gray and I think Rodman did a fantastic job with his writing style from Gray's POV. I felt like I was really in his mind and seeing the world through his eyes. It was heartbreaking at times because of what he went through, but more often than not, his take on this strange new world he finds himself in was pretty funny.

For a traumatized demon with untold terrifying powers, he is the cutest. I was so sad when his story was over because I already miss him.

Mal was just what Gray needed, even though he couldn't be totally honest with him at first. I thought they were well suited to each other. Mal was able to accept Gray just as he was and was totally unflappable.

I cannot say enough about this story and how much I adored these two. The whole series is great, but this one is my favorite.

Gray, a demon Incubus is lost in his suffering, captivity and despair and awakes from an extended period of non-feeding to Mal sexually feeding him. Mal tears down all Gray's walls to his very core and Gray's clinging and neediness breaks your heart. This book made me feel pity and empathy more than any I can remember in a long time. Gray is so wounded and broken after years of abuse. Mal's domination is only for structure and always in Gray's best interest to protect him but he has secrets he doesn't want Gray to know. I loved this book! It's so full of emotion and Mal providing Gray with everything, it triggers something in me with two people needing each other so much. All the other Unfettered Guys are here, too, but this is my favorite of the series so far. I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

You know what? This worked. This just worked and I liked it not despite but because of the pretty simple concept and story. I liked the info-pacing. I had no idea who Gray was, who was his new keeper and what he wanted - the simple suspense was quite effective, the romantic tension and the problem was the same - a bit silly and simple so as not to drag things unnecessarily. And maybe it was just me but despite it being about incubus and sex was an integral part, it didn't feel cheap or empty. Weird? Maybe. It just worked which is great because I wasn't sure about this one - I didn't like the vessel series but Evil Omega was pretty great.

Yes, I am aware I started with the third book. I am kind of afraid to start with the first one since it seems to contain all the... toxic mess that started this.

A wonderful book with tons of feels, healing, and love.

This book is slightly different from the previous two. Mainly because most of the chapters are from Gray's POV, which makes the mystery of Mal even more intriguing. There's also tons of smut, but the feelings develop much more slowly.

I loved these two. The mutual possessiveness and care were lovely. I admit one content warning made me a bit wary, but in the end, I wished the scene was longer. I'm a sucker for come play and breeding, so yep, it was amazing.

I was also happy there was a warning about a breakup. I usually hate breakups in books, but I anticipated it, and it was relatively short and only from one character's POV, which was a relief.

I am very quickly falling for S. Rodman, and I'm already planning to read their entire backlist!

Bonus scene : it was short and fun but also a bit sad.

Dark yet somehow also sweet

I think this is my favourite of this series for how well it incorporates darker elements with sweet hurt/comfort. Mal is the perfect example of that. He’s a great combination of intimidating yet gentle, stern yet doting, rough yet soft. You can see that he absolutely is not someone to mess with and he does dominate Gray but it’s for Gray, it’s in his service that he acts and he treats Gray with absolute adoration. Gray was a total heartbreaker. Few characters I’ve read have been so abused for such an incomprehensibly long time. Watching Mal help him put his pieces back together was incredibly satisfying. I will admit I was extremely wary of the warned break up (I generally loathe them) but it actually worked and is extremely brief. No prolonged angst for angst’s sake here. I’m definitely enjoying the series and I’m intrigued by what we get next.

Unfettered Demon is the third book in the Found & Freed: The Unfettered series. In my opinion this book is best read after the first two books in the series. It could be read as a standalone as there is no cliffhanger and ends in a HEA. This book is about Gray an incubus rescued with the other boys from the Unfettered series and Mal the man who is taking care of him. This book pulled me in from the start just like the others in the series. The relationship is between Gray and Mal is slow but the steam starts from the beginning. Poor Gray has suffered so much trauma but is still such a sweet character. I love how S Rodman brings these damaged characters to life and makes me want to comfort them. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

The Unfettered series by S.Rodman is just what you need when you want to devour a book in a single sitting. They're all full of utterly endearing, damaged humans, parahumans and magical beings finding their own path to love, with plenty of delicious spice along the way. This one really beat the record for spice - page 2 to be precise, is where the happy sauce starts flowing, but it is a story about an incubus, so what do you expect? My heart broke a little for poor Grey who, though deeply traumatised and fragile, is also quite incredibly dangerous, as some people find out...eventually. Definitely read the series in order - the story itself stands by itself but overlaps with the timeline of other books so is best enjoyed in sequence!

I liked seeing more of Gray's personality, how sweet he is compared to how he is perceived. In the scenes that replay in this book and in the previous, we see how people perceive him compared to what he was thinking and I fell in love with him then. And I liked the romance between him and Mal, how Mal is always caring and present with Gray. One thing I was a bit confused by was whether Mal could read Gray's mind. There is a scene when Gray has done something for Mal and Mal sees a scene that either Gray is thinking about or that Mal pulls from Gray's mind. Is that an ability Mal gets from his powers, that he developed? Or something else? I liked Mal's spirit, how he was caring for Gray and for Sammy. Overall, I liked the end reveal and their bonding. Great series thus far!

Amazing series

The Demon… the poor Demon. What can I even say about Gray? He’s so broken, and it absolutely shattered me. Out of all the Boys, he was the worst treated. Gray was kept chained, isolated, and brutalized by Richie and his friends. But his suffering didn’t start there, long before Richie, Gray was bought and sold for a hundred years, treated as nothing more than property. Now, finally free, he’s like a shadow of who he could have been. But there’s hope with Mal is by his side, patient and kind, helping Gray relearn the world and teaching him how to interact, how to feel safe, how to live. It’s a slow process, but it’s one filled with care. Gray’s journey is heartbreaking and powerful, and I was rooting for him every step of the way.

Mmmhmm!!!😚😁

Um...well...hot damn!!! What a sensual experience. These characters are deliciously written. Gray is so very damaged, you wonder if he'll ever truly find himself again. All the characters written into this world are exquisitely crafted. And as each consecutive book is created, a more in-depth rendering of their world is created. Gray, our incubus, is so intriguing and decadent. His rescuer, Mal, is quite opulent in all his mannerisms and quiet care of Gray. So sexy and sensual in all their intimate dealings. Intensely pleasurable would be an excellent description of these two together! I am a huge fan of S. Rodman and honestly recommend this tear your beating heart out, through your soul, works of divine, sensual series!!!😘😚 So frickin' hot...I am still flushing from head to toe! 😍😍😍

Now I am glad I stuck with this series - I almost quit after two but my OCD about finishing series kicked in and I told myself that there was only one more. This one was much better. Smoother delivery with the internal monologues moving forward instead of looping in circles. There was also more balance between action, description, dialogue and internal dialogue. The repetition of ideas and thoughts was greatly reduced and the plot along with the characters began to emerge. Still some jumps and holes but overall a much better story than the other two.

*While this is a stand-alone in terms of the featured relationship, you will be quite confused if you don't read the first two. Don't worry, though, they're worth the read.*
One of my favorite authors! This series is tricky given the former harem member's histories, especially the ones who need sex for various reasons to survive. But I think it's been handled well so far. Gray has big wounded bad boy vibes and Mal is the perfect balance of strict and sweet.
Can't wait for the rest of the series, and I hope it isn't badly affected by the fae invasion in the author's other books.

Poor Gray. I simply adore him and his brokenness. He just needs to right person to help him heal. These former slave harem members have been through so much and are just figuring out how to be free. I think Gray was one of the ones I wanted to know about the most. Mal and Gray are an interesting pair. I enjoyed this story. We never really find out anything about Mal or who he is or what he does but all that really matters is that Gray is healing. I loved the ending. 🥰

This book was well done! I received it as an ARC reader and I was very pleased. You expect a book about an incubus to be pure raunchy but Rodman did wonderful job of making it very tasteful to the point that the sex can only be seen as nurturing and caring. I was happy with the amount of background on the Gray’s mate; it was a pleasant surprise! Gray has surpassed Lello as my favorite freed harem boy. I love being constantly in his head lol.

Demons are among my favorite characters to read and Sez Rodman has stepped up to the plate with this latest book in her series. I love the hurt/comfort scenario - reading how different authors treat this area of emotional pressure and the importance of proper after care.
Sez is one of my favorite authors and when I see their name on the cover of a book, I know for certain I'm in for a treat.
Highly recommended.

What can I say, I liked this one significantly more than the other one in this series that I have read. I thought the characters were more interesting and compelling and the plot was slightly better. I think the author did a good job of writing both point of views and making each point of view worth reading. It was also much closer to living up to its dark tag, so that’s always nice. I won’t read it again, but I thought what I did read was decent.

Amazing!

I’ve loved all the books in this series so far but I think Gray and Mal are my favourite characters. Gray is damaged from his ordeal but still so incredibly sweet. Mal has been shaped by the lies of his upbringing but Gray brings out the caring man he is meant to be. The fact they’re both a little crazy doesn’t hurt their relationship at all.

wonderful

Wow this was scorching hot but I suppose it was always honing to be with a incubus as the MC.
Absolutely love Grey and Mal , especially Mal who was extremely well written as a caring yet strong character.

Grey has been hurt for hundreds of years and needs a firm hand, which he gets with Mal

Highly recommended
