series has gone downhill.

It seems like the WHOLE book is now all about the minutiae of battle. It is so detailed and long and basically just an in depth analysis of the conflicts. Very little actual story left. I really want to know what happens to the triplets… but I just could not bring myself to continue to read this book. I will not be picking up the next ones either, so sad because it started out great.

not great

I grew weary of filler sentences such as my best friend and my mate repeated so often I found myself skipping pages. We know she was the best friend! The dialogue just devolved into something so basic it was hard to keep reading.

This is book sixteen of the Mystical Midlife in Maine series (and book forty-seven of the Midlife Magic & Mysteries series) and the story starts as Stella gets informed that her mother, Rosemary, has disappeared from her assisted living complex. Rosemary lives there as she has dementia and is thankfully, fully human, so not a danger magically. Pheobe, who is pregnant with triplets, along with her Nana, accompany her friend Stella, to the retirement community, to find out what happened to Stella’s mother. No one noticed anything, just that she seemed to be there one moment, then gone the next, and the only thing unusual was a delivery of some flowers for Rosemary. The women believe the dark witch, Lyra may be behind all of this and managed to whisk her away, like she had Stella and Phoebe before. Lots of witches have been getting stolen from their lives and either their powers stolen by Lyra, or turned into Tainted Witches, that the friends have had to fight against in their attempts to put a stop to Lyra’s plan for evil. Lyra already changed Phoebe’s mother, Mollie, into a vampire, witch tribred, and it seems she is still experimenting with others. The fear is that she may have taken Rosemary to do the same, believing she has magic!

As they come across a possible trap, leading them to Lyra and hopefully, Rosemary, Aidon joins them to lend a hand and keep an eye on his pregnant wife. His help is needed to break through some of the dark magic wards surrounded the location, to keep their presence form the dark witches. There is even more ancient magic mixed in with runes at the location, but it is the secret and hidden door that raises their hopes. It doesn’t lead straight to Rosemary, but it does lead to imprisoned witches who need their help. They have to fight against their foes to free them and send them to meet with their friends, Layla, Tseki, Selene and Murtagh, to be led to safety. The four will soon be needed to come to the aid of Stella, Pheobe and Nana, as Lyra comes back into the mix and adds lots of her tainted and dark beings to the fight. Somehow, even Aidon, a god, isn’t immune to her powers, but there is another foe for them to face, an ancient siren, who has a serious beef against Phoebe. They have to travel through unknown portals, face dark magic and even the spirits of the forest, whose lands and creatures Lyra has twisted into her own dark image. A number of scrolls leave a warning and word of an imposter Pleiades, which the siren seeks to destroy. A label many have used against Pheobe! Pheobe already has to worry about the three magical babies she is carrying and the limits it is placing on her ability to get around and fight as she did, never mind keeping them safe from Lyra’s grasp!

Lots of action for the women, who are getting on in age, something her Nana certainly doesn’t show in her fighting skills, a heavily pregnant Phoebe having to deal with a large baby bump, as they continue the hunt for Lyra’s real plan and a way to stop her. A great deal of the strength of the bonds between all of these women and also their close friends, with all the extra work Phoebe, as the Pleiades, is called to help solve for the paranormal community. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Sprightly Magic and Mystical Mayhem

Such a fun read! Have read this entire series so far and enjoyed them all. Phoebe is a powerful Pleiades witch whom you can read the history of her ascension in the previous books. Phoebe's family is included such as her Mom, Mollie, her grandmother Nana (who is 90 and sprightly), Stella her best friend and of course Aiden, her mate. Phoebe is also 6 months pregnant with triplets and knowing Aiden is a god from the underworld and Phoebe's power, the triplets will be a wonderful addition to this fun, powerful and interesting family. Needless to say, Stella's mom, Rosemary Stone, went missing from the care facility and according to the other residents, she just seemingly disappeared which appears to have happened right after a strange flower delivery. Without providing spoilers, the team finds some clues such as the flowers that came from Petals & Posies with a seemingly nervous flower shop proprietor that take them on a path of dark magic discovery, a strange dungeon with kidnapped witches and some clues that brings them back to the dark witch, Lyra. Lyra is a force to be reckoned with and puts the team to the test with their abilities, planning and teamwork. The goal is to get Rosemary back of course while also protecting the team and of course the triplets to be born. Must mention some of the others that add to this story such as Aiden's parents, Phoebe's house team, Layla, Tseki, Selene, Murtagh, and Mythia (a fairy). Every character adds to this wonderful, ongoing story that includes unexpected twists, powerful magic and unique challenges.

Wrinkles, Wit, & Wisdom offers the perfect blend of supernatural sleuthing, humor, and the unique challenges of midlife motherhood. Brenda Trim captures the chaotic energy that comes with preparing for triplets while solving a paranormal mystery, making this book a delightful read for fans of magical mayhem and witty characters.

For you, with your love of stories that mix humor, suspense, and strong female protagonists, this installment will feel like a cozy escape. The partnership between the protagonist and Stella adds a lighthearted but determined edge to the investigation, which quickly escalates with the discovery of a siren's plot. The stakes feel personal and high, keeping you engaged as they untangle the mystery while navigating spells and the hilarious chaos of midlife—baby bump and all!

You’ll appreciate how this book weaves heart and humor into its magical narrative, especially as the protagonist faces the balance of impending motherhood with supernatural threats. The emotional rollercoaster (hormones included!) adds depth to the fun-filled plot, making it a refreshing read in the Midlife Mysteries & Magic series.

If you enjoy witty banter, strong friendships, and paranormal mysteries wrapped in humor, this book will hit all the right notes. It’s a heartwarming, laugh-out-loud adventure that will keep you turning pages as fast as the magic unravels!.

Well, it seems that even while she is carrying Aidon’s triplets, Phoebe the Pleiades witch, still can’t catch a break from Tainted Witches and other dark forces messing with her. Stella gets a call from her mother’s assisted living facility that her mom, Rosemary has disappeared. Frantic, Stella, Phoebe, Nana and company rush to look into the disappearance. Things go from frantic to crazy as all is not as it seemed as they look into things. Then it is a rush against time to try and find Rosemary and work against Tainted witches all led by Lyra and then we find out there’s more we have to worry about. I just love all of these characters as well as the shifters who act as protection for our do-gooders. Although I love these books, my poor stomach always hurts from worry and I chew on my nails and definitely need to AC on or I end up with fear sweat. Yuck. lol. The book had some funny things in it, but this one was a bit more on the scary side as I worry about the characters because I love them so much. I can’t wait to find out what happens next because I have a feeling it is going to be even more of a doozy.

Nana is a beast! - Elderly though she may be, Nana was the fiercest warrior IMO in this one. As she, Phoebe, Stella, Aidon, Murtagh, Layla, and Tsekani battled Lyra and her host of minions, she never wavered in her determination or lost hope to find Stella's mom. Action-packed from beginning to end, with the Tainted leader being pushed off her high horse a few times. I can't wait to see her get put in magical chains. And you'd think the sirens would have learned to not mess with the midlife witches. They never stood a chance. Siding with Lyra is a bad bet, but I guess some people have to be shown the error of their ways.

Another fantastic edition in Ms. Trim's magical world. I can't wait to see how everything plays out.

Stella’s mother has disappeared, witches Phoebe, nana and Stella search for answers, determined to rescue Rosemary and bring her home. They fear that the Dark Witch Lyra has taken her. Following information they find a trail into the woods, dark wards and dark magic in the woods. Phoebe calls her mate, Aidoneus, wolf shifters Murtagh and Layla and dragon shifter Tseki to help free chained witches from Lyra. They must face many dangerous challenges, dark magic, twisted monsters, dark sirens and dark witches before they can find Rosemary and take her home. Amazing story, terrifying monsters and powerful witches prepared to fight against the evil forces. Fantastic stories, awesome reading. I can’t wait for the next book, I love this series.

Unexpected surprises all around!
Another encounter with Layla, only this time she's pushed Stella into a corner and she is coming out fighting! Phoebe n gang are searching for a missing family member and the adventure they embark on is quite the ordeal. They rescue several witches and destroy several key power spots of Laylas and come upon a prophecy that is most unexpected! The person to whom that prophecy applies to is also unexpected and a nice off pace step! The ending is a bit unsettling but leads into the next chapter of Phoebe and gang. Loving this series!!

This is book 47 from the series Midlife mysteries & magic. This book is well written. I really enjoyed how the witches are all older. They each have relationships with different creatures and one witch has MS. It made me actually feel like it is okay to slow down and understand the autoimmune more. That we lose spoons a lot faster. I like how at the end the author lets you know it will get steamy and if you don’t like that part that this was the end of the book. I look forward to reading the next adventure of the trio.

Wrinkles, Wit, & Wisdom is Book 15 in the Mystical Midlife in Maine series and is has a unique way of showing the challenges of midlife motherhood, with triplets no less...woof! This is another great paranormal mystery quirky, witty characters and tons of magical mystery thrown in for good measure. I love this series as well as everything this talented author writes! I can't wait to see how much magic the triplets have, I'm thinking Wyatt from Charmed, Phoebe's gonna need a lot of belp!!!.

Phoebe and her babies are in the thick of things and in peril. Stella and the others work hard to keep things safe for the mother and unborn children. Stella has a big revelation in a prophecy, and thigs are getting heated. Though the women have a victory, there is still a big issue to remedy! I cannot wait to see what plays out with these characters.

Purify the Darkness

Lyra is back and seems to be gaining more powerful magic, but it is disrupting the balance. Phoebe and her crew do a good job in this story, trying to restore and purify what has been tainted. The revelations in the end were surprising and set up what is to come in such a profound way. It was very suspenseful and I could not put it down.

When Stella's mom, Rosemary, vanished from her assisted living facility, Phoebe, Stella, and Nana set out to find her, and are eventually joined by Aidon, Tseki, Murtaugh, and Layla. Along the way, the group encounters various twisted life forms they must battle to find their way to Rosemary. This story has plenty of action and romance, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

The ladies face more mayhem as they face continued assaults from the Dark Witch Lyra, and those willing and unwillingly influenced by her.

Tricky to follow trails link innocent bystanders and significant victims, sites and Influences.

Lethal and worse than lethal harm and hard to handle issues.

Book 15 of 16 in Mystical Midlife in Maine series. A wonderfully written series, this book follows Phoebe, while pregnant, as she works with her best friend, and fellow witch, Stella, to find Stella's mother. With friends, family, and magic they set out to find her while also dealing with other things in life. Hormones, anyone? A fun adventure from start to finish.

It's always great when the older characters get their chance to shine. Nana was blazing bright as the group followed clues to find Stella's mom. For someone who came into the magical world late in life, she performed like she had been born to it. Thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment.

Brilliant Series

Wrinkles, Wit & Wisdom (Mystical Midlife in Maine Book 15) by Brenda Trim. The evil witch Lyra is still causing trouble trying to take over the world. With Phoebe, Aidon, Stella, Layla, Murtah and Tseki looking for Stella’s mum who has been kidnapped by Lyra’s associates Pheobe is injured and her triplets she is carrying could be affected.

Hormones are a bitch, is right!
Everyone but mom is on the case this time when Stella's mom goes missing from her retirement home. If Lyra wasn't bad enough they've also drawn new enemies and a new prophecy. This one concentrates on Phoebe, Nana and Stella as the witches at large.

Phoebe would love to have time to focus on things like nursery decorating. Unfortunately, Stella's mother has disappeared and it is obvious that magic was involved. Phoebe, Nana, and Stella soon need to call for help when it becomes obvious Lyra is somehow involved. Aidon joins their quest, which means Phoebe and the babies have more protection and they all have more magical muscle on their side, and they are going to need it. Circumstances soon require even more fire power and Layla, Tsekani, and Murtagh join the quest. Prepare yourself for epic battles and fierce determination. This group is not giving up until Stella's mother is rescued... no matter where they have to go to find her. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

I don't know how the author does it but another wonderful story added to the Mystical Midlife in Maine series.

The characters are wonderful and you can't help but cheer them on during their recent adventure. Trying to solve disappearances while pregnant for triplets and fighting dark, tainted witches. The story kept me reading well into the night. I had a hard time putting it down.

Highly recommend.
