Breaking Boston

Rate this book
I thought I could trust them. But I couldn't.

I thought I was safe. But I wasn't.

I thought I had it figured out. But I didn't.

Lux Kingsley and Donovan Hades are beautiful fucking monsters consumed by darkness and sin.

They promised to ruin me—to break me. But they can't break what's already broken.

They protected me, then made me believe I was a pawn in their wicked game. So I played along, determined to win.

They underestimated the strength that lies within me—the determination to find the truth.

The darkness they tried to drown me in will be no match for the darkness I carry within.

I will no longer let anyone break me.

In and out of foster homes since the age of 8, Boston Avery has had nothing but danger, addiction, and darkness plague her tortured soul.

Finding comfort in two of her foster brothers, Boston thought Lux and Donovan would always be there.

And they were. But then they left… and now they're back.

Finally, out of the clutches of the system, Boston tries to hunt down the family she was ripped away from, longing for the love and answers she never knew but always wanted.

In a world where love turns into obsession and everyone hides behind a mask, Boston delves deeper into her search, uncovering painful truths and facing the harsh reality of her past.

As she confronts the demons that haunted her for so long, Boston discovers that the true meaning of family isn't always about blood, but about the people who stand by you through it all.

And most importantly, some secrets are meant to stay buried.

This is a dark MFM masked stalker romance with dark elements and triggering scenes.

I am lost dnf. I really wanted to love this book. But the characters development and plot just wasn’t there. Also a lot of repetition throughout book.

But hey could be your five star read.

DNF @52%

I wanted to love this—truly, but I felt like the entire plot was the MCs shooting heroin. It just got super old super fast with no action whatsoever.

DNF @ 47% (Don't judge me for making it this far. I was desperate to cross off another book for my yearly goal).

I'd give this less stars if I could.

This is written like a fever driven fanfiction and it doesn't work for me. The characters have all had a past (and present) of physical, sexual, and drug abuse. The two MMCs are 4 years older than the FMC who is 13 when we start and all three live in an abusive foster home. The guys leave because they can't take the abuse and she's left to be the sole punching bag (among other horrendous things) in their place. Fast forward (I think) 5 years and she's still living in that nightmare home while getting sexually abused and bullied at school for the past 4 years. The MMCs have been LITERALLY watching her this entire time knowing exactly what they left her alone to. But now, suddenly when she's graduating high school, now it's time to intervene and reclaim ownership of her by playing psychological games and bringing her to their gang's warehouse/apartment/whatever so she's now around possibly worse people... yeah. Fuck that. Fuck them. Fuck this book.

If you love a good MFM why choose with traumatised/broken FMC and MMC, masked men, stalker vibes and spice this is definitely a book for you.

Like the majority of my reviews please check the TW before jumping in scenes and topics aren’t for everyone. I don’t usually repeat this warning but this book contains heavy DU and topics of addiction so please don’t take the TW lightly.

This is the first of K M Rogness books I have read and I will definitely be reading more.

From the start this book it attacked the “feels” reading about what the Boston, Lux and Donovan had/has to endure especially from the people that were meant to be protecting them was heartbreaking and just the whole struggles and trying to escape a situation just to end up in another one really pulled on the heart strings.

Though in saying that, this book is dark so all my dark romance, smut babes are gonna eat it up!

The book is fast paced, full spice and you can expect a thrashing of suffering and struggles before Boston can get her HEA.

They promised to ruin me—to break me. But they can't break what's already broken.

"This is for all the girls out there - the smut sluts - who wish a walking red flag (or two) in a mask would protect them, stalk them, and call them their 'good girl."

This is the first of K M Rogness (the beautiful Kasey) books I have read, and I definitely want to see what else her brilliant mind produces!

The trigger warnings are heavy, so please take note of them before diving in.

Such a beautifully delicious trio in Lux, Donavon and Boston, broken souls healing together in the most delicious way possible!

Tropes:
- Masked men
- Touch her and die vibes
- Gun/knife play
- MFM
- Trauma bonding

Full Spoilers in this review. Bite me.

This will go down as quite possibly the worst book I've ever read. I've come to the conclusion that everything that happened simply MUST be a drug-induced fever dream that Boston is having... Because the way nothing makes sense was SO INFURIATING.

Before I get into everything that PISSED ME OFF about this book, I'd like to offer you a Drinking Game that is guaranteed to give you ALCOHOL POISONING!!

Take 1 shot every time there's a continuity error.
Down 1 beer every time the author changes tenses.
Glass of wine every time Boston is a bloody dumbass.
Glass of water every time the author repeats herself (ya know, to offset the copious amounts of alcohol you'll be consuming while reading this book.)

I genuinely HATE leaving rage reviews like this because I feel so bad shitting on any author's work but, I seriously seriously put myself through several days of hell to finish this book so that I could write this review.

I WILL BET MONEY THAT THIS BOOK DIDN'T HAVE AN EDITOR... And if it did, girl, editing is not your calling. Find happiness elsewhere because this is not the gig for you. The plot holes. The continuity issues. The repetition OF ENTIRE PARAGRAPHS on the SAME PAGE!! The TENSE JUMPING!! The TYPOS!

I have to do this consecutively so that I don't overwhelm myself with how many things there are to talk about. The way I WISH I could share page for page my annotations because it's unfair that only my eyes will get to see every time I was YELLING at these pages.

1. Let's start with the fact that Boston SOMEHOW doesn't know that it's Lux and Donovan following her, watching her, and leaving her charms. HOW doesn't she know it's them? Like genuinely, when they left, they SAID they'd be watching you. (And this is just the beginning of Boston having zero braincells.)

2. Then the 'MASKED MEN' come in... And Boston STILL can't figure out who it is. I TRIED to get past this but it KEPT coming up and I couldn't fathom how she wasn't putting two and two together. The fact that it didn't even cross her mind, let alone be her first fucking thought that it's Lux and Donovan... Livid. I am livid. They go so far as to call her the SAME NICKNAMES they used for her, and she still doesn't put it together.

3. Can anyone explain to me the POINT of Hayden coming over with Boston's diploma? In a book this short, every scene needs to be of value. He comes over to drop of something Boston NEVER talks about again... and then KISSES her like he hasn't spent her entire high school career fucking her throat... AND THEN, Lux and Donovan see this and -- even though they've been watching her this whole time and presumably know about what Hayden has done to her -- they somehow feel BETRAYED by this tiny kiss?!?! Make it make sense. And don't tell me that it needed to happen for Lux and Don to kill him because his death serves NO PURPOSE either!!

4. How do we make sure the readers no Lux and Donovan are 'bad boys'? Make them use 'fuck' as a comma.

5. Boston still not knowing it's Lux and Donovan behind the masks... Even when she thinks 'could it be' she somehow talks herself out of it and WHY... and I am only pissed off about it because she KEEPS BRINGING IT UP and it's SOO obnoxious! She keeps thinking about them!

6. When 'King and D' take Boston, they do so talking about how she's betrayed them and hurt them and left them behind... Do we want to talk about who left who behind in an abusive household? And EXPLAIN what Boston did to hurt you?

7. I nearly threw this book across the room when Lux has the AUDACITY to ask Boston if she's a virgin. Like how COULD YOU? You care for this girl? Show me where. You KNOW what happened in that house. You escaped what happened in that house and LEFT HER THERE and then have the AUDACITY to ask if she's a virgin. It sealed the deal for me that no matter what they did, I wouldn't 'fall for them'.

Also, some beautiful dirty talk -_-
a modern-day Mona Lisa painted out of my cum.

I want you to feel the pleasure I'm giving to you.

8. Then it gets worse, somehow. Boston proceeds to THEN sleep with Lux and Donovan AS Lux and Donovan... And NOT ONCE does the similar dirty talk (nicknames and talking about making a masterpiece with their cum), the same bikes, the same dick piercings... NOT ONCE does she EVEN FATHOM that Lux and Don are King and D.....!?!?!?!?!?

9. Also, we NEED to talk about the fact that Boston NEVER CALLED CPS on the Taylors. She made a HUGE deal talking about the kids and how she hates to leave them but will call CPS immediately. She NEVER does!

10. And HERE is where I will talk about the AWFUL continuity issues in this book. They are constant and frustrating and I can't possibly give you ALL the examples of this but I will give you this one. When Remy first meets Boston, he asks if she can dance... She says she never has and he says he will find something for her to do. When Lux and Don ARRANGE for Remy to 'need' her for the night, THEY HAVE THE SAME EXACT CONVERSATION, only this time Remy forces her to dance anyway... And it's not as if Boston comments on this repetition. She reacts as if it's the first time he's talking about it. This is just ONE of the MANY continuity issues in this forsaken book.

11. Boston not calling CPS is EVEN worse when you read that Lux and Donovan (who are actually heartless) call CPS immediately after killing Boston's parents... Like if you're doing worse than those two psychopaths, get help.
And while we're on the topic of that murder. LUX AND DONOVAN are JUST AS STUPID as Boston. They walk into a room where the two people they want to kill are PASSED OUT in a DRUG STUPOR and their first thought ISN'T to set it up to look like an overdose... Like.. How stupid can you be? WHY the tying up and the taunting and the shooting and stabbing when you COULD have been in and out and GOTTEN AWAY with it... [AND BOSTON NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND OUT BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RULED AN OVERDOSE!!!]

12. I won't get into the bad smut because most of it is actually alright but I have to bring up the multiple times they did 🍑 with ZERO prep (and considering they both having 🍆 piercing, I can't imagine it felt good for anyone) and the time Donovan uses the TIP of a KNIFE on Boston's clit and somehow didn't shred her... Also, being slammed down onto the barrel of a gun with has no give... I won't talk about being fked by a gun, fine, but being forcibly pushed down onto one... No comment.

13. Then LUX with the AUDACITY again!! Coming home from killing her parents, picking her up from being ASSAULTED by Remy making her strip and dance for him... Don and Lux are like, 'ugh, we've had such an awful night, fuck us'... Boston does... then Lux has the AUDACITY to ASK BOSTON to DANCE FOR HIM!!!!!! I genuinely hate Lux so much.

14. When Boston finds out her parents are dead, she is DETERMINED (as she tells us about 700 times) to find out who killed them... going so far as to say
The police were questioning neighbors and gathering evidence, but I was focused on finding answers.

Which just doesn't fucking make sense at all. For context, she is currently standing and staring. She then walks away and proceeds to do NO investigative work on finding out who killed them.

15. I also NEED to bring up the MISSED OPPORTUNITY!! Boston attempts suicide. Overdoses and passes out. Does the author give us the heartbreaking, gut-wrenching scene of Lux and Donovan walking in on her and having to save her life. No, it immediately skips to her waking up and them being pouty about how much Narcan they had to use to bring her back. Oh, and then, OBVIOUSLY, they have sex again.
AND THIS IS THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF SERIOUS THINGS BEING COMPLETELY BRUSHED OVER!! Things that SHOULD take up page time and narrative weight, but simply don't.

16. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I think the author came up with new features for these character and instead of seamlessly working them into the story from the start, she just decides at 66% to tell us Boston has a tongue piercing... [and at 76% that Donovan's 🍆 is tattooed] Even though we've had multiple scene where that info could have and should have come up already... It happens multiple times that someone will off-handedly mention something as if it's been true the whole time.

17. A HIGHLIGHT for the ONLY time I got butterflies, reading this. Chapter 14: When Lux and Don are both fingering her at the same time, using their cum as lube. The only time.
Also, you might notice I use Lux and Don regardless of whether they're King and D in the scene because it's so painfully obvious that Boston SHOULD know they're the same AND the MMCs also slip up multiple times in their internal monologue calling each other their real names instead of their pretentious 'King and D'.

18. I won't comment on any of the drug-use in this book. I have no experience with it, thankfully, and can't comment on what I don't know EXCEPT that I'm pretty sure it's impossible to give yourself a shot in the neck... You can't see the veins in your OWN neck... and they do it multiple times

19. Okay, pt2. of things being brushed over when they really shouldn't be!! Remy kidnaps Boston and locks her in a room. Sounds like it would be a major plot point, right? Nope.
We hadn't heard from Boston in three days, and by that point, Donovan and I were starting to worry.

You're telling me that the two boys who have been stalking and obsessing over Boston for the past 5 years had her and then LOST HER for THREE DAYS and never once panicked about it or looked for her... Only to find her... Where... THE PLACE WHERE THEY WORK!! I assume they would have been to the warehouse in those 3 days... but no... apparently, they're NPCs and just sat and stared at the wall for 3 days without Boston there...
THEN WHEN THEY DO FIND HER!! Is it a big deal? Is it a showdown? Nope. They just walk in and find her sitting on Remy's lap, then tackle Remy, and take her home...

20. Lux and Donovan start discussing telling Boston about them being King and D and I genuinely can't even put into words how confusing and frustrating this scene was to read. Their concern that she is 'falling for King and D' when she clearly isn't. I don't even understand why this lie was a necessity in the first place. She should have known from the beginning. THEN, they decide they absolutely ARE going to tell her the truth..... only to then end the section with:
We'd tell her after everything was all said and done, and we couldn't do anything but hope for the best.

Italics and everything... Keep that in mind.

21. What happens next? Well, of course Lux cums into an ice tray because now seems like the perfect time to do that... and then... TELLS BOSTON THE TRUTH!! Right after saying you're going to tell her AFTER everything was said and done... And welcome to pt3. of major things being brushed over... We've been reading this whole book waiting for this moment, for Boston to find out the truth... Big deal? Grand reveal? Emotional moment??
I WAS APOPLECTIC WHEN I READ THIS.
"I knew it," she said quietly. "I knew all along."

EXCUSE ME!! NO THE FUCK YOU DIDN'T!! THE AUDACITY TO WRITE THOSE WORDS ON THE PAGE WHEN I'VE BEEN RAGING ABOUT HOW STUPID YOU'VE BEEN FOR NOT KNOWING. How dare you. I am actually fuming.
Oh, and then of course, they have sex.
Knowing it was them behind the masks the entire time, I felt a sense of relief that they'd been with me this entire time.

I feel so cheated and played as a reader. Genuinely.

22. I'm going to put a direct quote from the book here from one of the sex scenes and you tell me how you think this person feels about the person they're fucking.
The sounds of her grating groans are finally drowned out by the city noise, which roars in through the open window.

It's giving 'I was forced to marry this bitch and now I have to fuck her even though I hate every second of it'.

23. You will remember in point 19, I quote the book saying 'we hadn't scene Boston in three days' when Remy kidnapped her. In Ch21, however, I present pt.347 of continuity errors.
After spending those miserable weeks with Remy, locked away like a prisoner.

Need I say more?

24. The chapter title is 'The Binge'. The extent of the binging we see in the chapter:
...I do another shot, stuck in a deep binge that I can't break out of.

And I am being generous by correcting the typo in this sentence which actually said 'that I can break out of.'

25. At 86% I had a glimmer of hope. I thought I might see light at the tunnel.
I'll find out who killed [my parents], and I promise I'll kill them.

And I literally highlighted this line and said to myself that, if this book ends with Boston killing Donovan and Lux, I will give this a 5 star rating despite every issue I had with it.

26. The truth about the journal. You can call it a twist if you want but I won't. I don't call it a twist. I'm too frustrated at this point to give this author any credit.

27. What I will talk about, however, is that Boston makes a big deal about wanting to kill the Taylors TONIGHT! It has to be TONIGHT!! And then it promptly skips to several nights later where Boston confronts the boys, AND THEN decides she needs to go ask the Taylors to tell her the truth so she can then kill them.

28. I am not saying anything more about the murder of the Taylors other than this.
Boston drops the gun...

She left the murder weapon at the crime scene and she was NEVER described as having gloves on... I say nothing more...

29. The entire reason I kept pushing myself through this book was for the fruit roll-up scene and the cum-cubes and I had to wait until 93 fucking percent. FML.

30. The epilogue is a fucking mess. Nothing makes sense.

I am fucking done now and this is not even everything I had to say. I need rest and relaxation.

This book was just all over the place for me! From the plot, writing and characters. There is absolutely no development of the plot or characters in this book, other than them all being H addicts.

There were inconsistencies in the story line.

I felt the spice was cut and paste from other DR books.

Damn. First DNF of the year. That was quick. DNF @ 22%. It seems the x masks are a thing now for these types of books. Picked because it sounded interesting. Lux, Donovan and Boston all in the same shitty foster situation, the duo taking off and leaving Boston to face the music. This was dark and depressing to the point it felt like it was always raining and each character had a little mini storm surrounding them, along with a soundtrack.

The revenge thing got old fast. Something happens, vow of revenge then nothing. I didn't like that the duo had stalked Boston and yet they let all the bad stuff happen. They already had a hit list under there belts and were watching over the woman they cared so much about whilst she was forced to give BJs in the school toilets and abused at home. Heavy on the drug use. The whole outrage of betrayal and vow of punishment thing because she was kissed by her bully was wtf. Not for me.

First up… I love the cover of this book!
I read it on Kindle Unlimited and plan on purchasing a hard copy in the near future.

So where to start… Boston, Lux and Donovan, I wanna keep these three forever stored away in my memory bank - partially because the smut and connection between them was oh so tasty and complex, but also because in each of them I found a twinkle of recognition… I could relate. They each, in their own ways gave me the feels. And Boston… girl, you were me, I was you. If I could come face to face with her, mumma bear me now would give her a big boob crushing hug.

This book kinda broke my heart into so many pieces… I loved it so much, hard hitting and dark as it was. Classified within the dark genre, there’s a raw quality to the characters, so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I found it refreshing as I’m drawn to stories and characters as portrayed in Breaking Boston.
This is definitely the book for you if you like the unhinged and forbidden, a why choose dynamic, morally grey bordering on pitch black MMCs… masks… a sweetly innocent FMC and the twists and turns one’s gotta expect from Rogness’ reads🖤

The ‼️TRIGGER WARNINGS‼️ read like my grocery list to feed a family of six, and I highly recommend you check them out through links found on the authors BIO… failing that, they’re listed at the beginning of the book. As always, your mental health matters and nobody wants to see anyone hurting who can’t put themselves back together.

If you read this and need a hand however, just send me a DM and we can shoot the shit until you’re ok to soldier on… deal?!

There was one part, out of many, that had me shook, cheering… page 180 on KU… as I noted in my annotations… this chapter finale was like the morally grey taboo anti-mainstream win that our girl and I’m sure many abuse survivors may wish for. I dare you to judge me! 😜
If you’ve been victimised or taken for a messed up ride, you’ll understand.

“…replaced by a sense of emptiness and despair. I know that what I've done will haunt me for the rest of my days, but at the same time, a small part of me feels a sense of twisted satisfaction—“

“I also understand that the cycle of violence and revenge is never-ending, and the darkness that now consumes me is a heavy burden to bear.”

I generally don’t throw hard spoilers out, because why the heck would ya read the book if I did?

So I’m just going to leave it at this… K.M Rogness is fast becoming one of my fav authors in this genre, her books will be an automatic “Fuck Yes!” read for me going forward. I also like the fact that she seems like a pretty cool chick who doesn’t mind being real in a world of epic fakery. Someone who is open to a chat or “deigns” to converse with her readership when some may choose to keep us at arms length. And whilst I don’t typically get in-depth with people I’m not familiar with because I like to have my space and pay someone that same courtesy, the person I have had limited exchanges with will most definitely get my support. Both she, her writing and storytelling deserve it.

So do me a favour, go and read her books alright?! And await the next three that are scheduled for this year with dripping wet anticipation.
Our indie authors need us more than ever, so do your thing, get on it!

Happy reading lovers 💋

⭐️ - Book Rating: 3 / 3.5 ?
🌶 - Spice Rating: 4

🕯️ - Important Note 1:
I was given an ARC from THE AUTHOR in exchange for an honest review. So, I will do just that. Additionally, this review does have spoilers, beware.

🫐 - Important Note 2:
PLease check the trigger warnings for this book. I kid you not, don't skip them. This book made me take several necessary pauses. Keep in mind i'm someone who primarily reads dark romance and only has 2 triggers so far in books.

🎭 - Book Reviews:

So I'm going to state the obvious and point out the fact that the main character got me so possed of 99% of the time. Why? Because of how awfully stupid she was. The main mail characters Lux and Donavon made her all them King and D because they didn't want her to know it was them. However, they'd call her the same nickname regardless of which version of themselves they were playing? Then when the main male characters tell her it's them, she acts surprised? Like girl- your men have been calling you "pretty girl" and "little bird" CONSTANTLY and and you don't realize it's them? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever? Also, there's the fact that the main characters have tattoos... like girl- are you that dumb? There's literally nobody on this earth that has several tattoos in the exact same locations as someone else. Like be for real and use your two brain cells.

Now there's the plot point in which the main character tries to k!ll herself and mere moments after they just- fuck? Like i genuinely got confused at that part. As someone who struggled with mental health and my ex used sexual sh!t to "make me feel better" it honestly destroyed me. It's so unhealthy it was sad. Now maybe I read too much into that scene and placed myself into that scenario a bit too much, but it just made me feel uncomfortable. I wish that scene was presented differently.

I think the only real part I liked about this book was that the main character gained confidence in herself after living a terrible life. Like after being used and abused, i'm glad she found people who loved her. However, they still pissed me off and she could've found better.

I think I signed up for this arc expecting one thing and it ended up not being my cup of tea which sucks because I love reading books like this. However, what's not my cup of tea can be someone else's. So give it a shot if you like!

🎧 - Overview Notes:

OM/OW Drama: Yes
Virgin Hero/Heroine: No
Book Tropes: Why Choose, MFM, Angst, Violence, Hurt/Comfort, Morally grey MMC's, Emotional
HEA: Yes

This book was very dark so checking the trigger warnings are a must. That being said if you have no triggers then jump right in. Plus it was a nice short read at just over 200 pages.

The story is focused on the FMC Boston who has had a horrible life of trauma and abuse that has left her broken - but she is still a fighter! She just wants to be able to live a better life and will do what she can to get it. The MMCs Lux and Donovan have had just as horrible an upbringing as her, and they find an instant bond with Boston when they become foster siblings. These boys are completely unhinged and will go to any lengths necessary to protect Boston and give them all the lives they deserve. Plus who can resist a man in a mask!

I loved the dynamic between all of them - they would all do anything for each other and you could see how much they loved each other from the start. They all managed to come out of the dark and help each other to fix their broken pieces together. They all had good chemistry which made for some great spicy scenes. I will never look at an ice cube the same way again!

It was also nice to see a bit into the future and what happened to them in the epilogue.

• Seriously? This book was absolutely everything I wanted. When I signed up for the ARC I was immediately all about it. And it didn’t let me down whatsoever. I absolutely LOVE her writing style and I was never bored. How could you be, every character grabbed you and pulled you in.

• The FMC Boston, personally relatable in many ways. I freaking loved her. Her deep rooted pain and terrible past and present life situations. It all builds up to the most delicious retribution. And the 2 MMCs Lux and Donovan, both equally 🥵 Different and yet so similar at the same time. And who wouldn’t want not only one, but two men feeling the way they feel for her. Top tier swoon worthy.

• Ummm, the spice? Chefs kiss. If you like it darker and unhinged that is 😉

Check your trigger warnings! This MFM dark romance captured me from the start. Boston, Donovan, and Lux met in an abusive, traumatizing foster home. Even when the boys leave the foster home they will do ANYTHING to protect Boston and I mean anything. The fact that through all the trauma Boston continued to be a fighter From the start the love between these three is felt, and together they fight for a better life.
I felt so many emotions while reading this book. The horror of abuse from someone who was supposed to love you, to the feelings of abandonment, to the mind numbing drug use. I could not put it down.
Once again read your trigger warnings as there are many triggering situations involved in the story. It encompasses a fast paced story full of suffering, spice and eventually a possible HEA. This was my first KM Rogness book I’ve read, but I’ll definitely be reading more. For all you dark romance lovers this is a book for you.

I absolutely loved this book and devoured it all in one day. I hated all the trauma that Boston, Lux, and Donovan had to endure. Sometimes this book was very hard to read because of all the drug use, mainly because I lived that life myself at one point, however the ending gave me all kinds of emotions and the HEA was EVERYTHING 🥹 This story was very well written and will definitely be recommending it to others.

I don’t mind a book where the characters don’t have a lot of redeeming qualities, but these characters had zero and absolutely nothing made sense. The character themselves seemed to not have solid identities and didn’t act in ways that made sense based on how they previously acted. I felt like every chapter the characters were completely different people at times. I felt like somebody took any tag they could think of that would be considered “dark“ and jumbled them together in order to try to make a plot.

I try not to critique typos too much on self published books, but the amount of typos in this book was actually astonishing. The character Bobby was actually called Booby at one point. And during a very critical scene.

Also, from paragraph to paragraph and even on occasion from sentence to sentence, it would go from past tense to present tense - which completely pulled you right from the writing.

I only finished the book because I kind of was hoping everybody would get a horrible ending.

This wasn’t for me. There wasn’t enough plot and the characters were severely underdeveloped. It felt very rushed.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and my first recommendation is check the trigger warnings!! This book is on a whole other scale of dark but I couldn’t put it down once I started. The dynamic between the 3 main characters was amazing and I loved the message that broken people need love just like anyone else! I also liked that I felt so many things from this book; from the feelings of being abandoned to abuse from someone who is supposed to love you. For all of my dark romance lovers, this is for you! And let’s just say, I’ll never be able to look at fruit roll ups the same ever again!

dark and twisted

I think this was definitely a dark read mostly because of the real life issues of drug use and codependency that Boston had on Lux and Donovan. I enjoyed the spice but and the story. I wish there was more to some of the parts of that makes sense.

3.5/5

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Holy masked men, Lux & Donovan will have you drooling for more. K.M. Rogness writes a wicked strong MFC Boston who goes through so much trauma and the toughest battles to make it to her HEA. Your heart will bleed for Boston, Lux, and Donovan while other parts of you will be dripping for them too. This is a dark, smut filled, why choose, stalker romance with heavy TWs, so please make sure to read them and take them seriously. Your mental health matters.

Breaking Boston by K.M. Rogness is a deliciously spicy and dark MFM masked stalker romance and I absolutely ate it up. After having a tough upbringing, Boston chooses to take back parts of her life, looking for her happy ending. The trauma that Boston, Donovan, and Lux all endured was so heartbreaking, but I secretly loved their trauma bond and the dynamic between the three of them. These men will do whatever it takes to protect Boston and I love me a possessive MMC or two! The spice was definitely hot and heavy with these three and it had me wanting more. I may also never look at ice cube trays the same again, IYKYK. Also, anytime there’s a pierced MMC, I’m 200% here for it!

Dark romance lovers are going to eat this book up, but check the TWs before! The Ebook releases on April 5th and physical copies release on April 20th!

Thank you to K.M. Rogness for the chance to read an early copy! All opinions are my own!

When I started it, I had high expectations, and it didn't live up to them. It's confusing, and while it entertained me, it wasn't the best read.

The spice and kinks in this book were so dark and twisted. I loved it! There is so much trauma and so much sadness in the book, and I just found myself cheering Boston on.

Lux and Donovan were really frustrating at certain points. I can't stand people who withhold the truth for dumb reasons.. also I'm annoyed that they stayed away for 5 years, just watching. But then when Boston finally escapes they swoop in with their masked selves and then hide their identity and try to live dual lives? But Boston apparently knew it was them the whole time..again, I just don't know what game they were playing here.

When I read I usually am my smutty little self and love red flags and don't let my professional career (mental health and substance use therapist) into my fantasy world. BUT the amount of drug use and accuracy of what addiction can be like was so spot on. I kept finding myself nodding my head thinking "yeah that thought process is so common" or "trauma has pushed these characters to numb their pain."

The last thing I have to say is fruit roll up and cum cubes...the NSFW art of these scenes is 🥵🥵

A destroyed and broken FMC that gets her HEA. ❤️ Boston,Lux & Donovan are fosters living in a broken home with messed up foster parents. When Donovan & Lux decide to leave Boston is left by herself, left alone to continue enduring the abuse that her foster parents put her through. Not only is she being abused at home but also bullied and S/A at school. The only way Boston knows how to numb the pain is with constant drug & alcohol use. Although Lux and Donovan have left home, they have always been watching Boston and waiting for the time to come when they can all be together again. Once Boston graduates school she finally decides to runaway in hopes of looking for her real parents, but along the way she gets stopped by two masked men that give her a place to stay and do with her what they want. I love that Boston finally takes back control of her life and gets her revenge.!!! With that being said this story has some heavy TWs and would advise taking them seriously! Once again K.M Rogness has wrote another amazing book! ❤️

BREAKING BOSTONBy K.M. Rogness

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶🌶

Ugh ! Love the story in this book, but dayyuumm Boston! One Question: How did you not know, how did you not know, how TF did you not know?!?!?!

Boston grew up in foster care along with Lux and Donovan. Three kids who had to grow up rough, abused, and fending for themselves. What came with that were drugs, bad people, and addiction.

Boston was soooooo frkn frustrating! Girl! Idk how many times I screamed at her through the book. She was so oblivious and so fkn dumb! How did you not know?! She Def lacked street smarts at the beginning but glad she grew tired of being dumb and grew some balls.

Great story, not spoiling. Great read! The Spice was off the chain! I'll have to try that fruit roll up too and frkn ICE CUBES!!! Second book I've read with ice cubes and I'm 💀😆 . Love love loved it!!!!

My first book by K.M. ROGNESS AND Love her! Def a new fave author for me! I can't wait to dive into DROWNING now!

FREAKING OUTSTANDING!

Seriously, every page had me wanting more. There wasn't a moment I could put it down as I had severe fomo reading it. I needed to read every detail so perfectly captured in the pages. There were moments that I cried, yelled, gasped, and absolutely melted for the characters. Breaking Boston is a phenomenal read that will have you falling in love, screaming at, and aching for more. Please make sure to check trigger warnings, all though there is nothing like some perfect red flags 🚩if you get me 🥵🔥 but your mental health matters ❤️

Kinky

This is book pull you in in every chapter. I’ve been putting it off to read later but oh boy🥵 this one is hot! It’s just sad thinking all the betrayal and trauma Boston had to go through. From her parents, foster parents, from her 2 special men and abuse from people from her school. The betrayal just keeps getting piled up. Leaving her and only having to use substance to take away the pain is just so sad. It’s fucked up. Getting her closure was sure a surpise for me of her doing it herself. It’s also comforting knowing Lux and D was always thinking of her, protecting her even though it’s messy and twisted. But love the ending. Having them get cleaned ang together is the best. Thank you author😘 and good job🫡

Spicy AF

I don’t think I’ve fully recovered from the spice in this book. Scenes will be with me until I pass, most notably with one with the fruit roll up if you know what I’m saying 😉

It was a heavy, heart-breaking, revenge story that made me quite emotional for these characters. But there are moments that make it all worthwhile. See above note 😂

It’s a dark, why choose romance with almost every *shmink* included. Masks, 🔪 play, 😮‍💨 play, the list goes on 🥵

Just go read it!
