The Burning Ground

Rate this book
Take two brothers. One secret. One woman, two lovers. Add in two deaths, and the trauma of foot and mouth on a small Dartmoor hill farm. Under such pressure other older secrets emerge, with devastating consequences.

Knocked sideways by the death of her fiancé, Tamar leaves her life as a freelance journalist on Dartmoor, and travels to Brittany to work, temporarily, at a New Age centre as she tries to make sense of her life.

Here she bumps into Oliver, a charismatic but elusive photographer, who has his own problems. When he disappears, Tamar, broken-hearted, returns to Devon and later, recently married and living on a Dartmoor hill farm, finds herself embroiled in the foot and mouth crisis.

Just as it looks as if the family is emerging from the horrors of the catastrophe, events take a surprising turn that challenges everything the family's life has been built upon.
