Down from the Mountain: On Being Human after Spiritual and Alchemical Initiation

Rate this book
Burned out on spiritual seeking, finding your purpose, and trying to create your best life? Feeling the call to be less enlightened and more human?

Down from the Mountain provides a shimmering template for returning to life and being human after undergoing the intense alchemical processes required to align with the core self.

This book does not offer easy answers or formulas to success. It's a living text that meets you where you are and carves new pathways by exploring with you:

✦ Making peace (and magic) with what can't be changed about you and your life no matter how many alchemical death and rebirth cycles you go through.

✦ Identifying and receiving the support and resources you need in order to be who you are and do what you came to do in this life.

✦ Navigating the disappointment that comes with core alignment by integrating the ego and soul selves.

✦ Understanding the intricate workings of the soul in order to bring The Dreams That Are Dreaming You into form.

✦ Breaking free from the spiritual codependency (martyrdom, sneaky self-righteousness, hyper-individualism, superiority, inequality) that infiltrates how we serve, share our gifts, and integrate our spiritual awakenings into our physical lives.

✦ Collaborating in partnerships and communities in ways that honor and nurture both the individuated and interconnected self.

If your human and soul parts are aching to live more cohesively with yourself and the world, this rare book stands ready to accompany you through your own magical, rough-and-tumble integration.

I re-read Erickson's first book, The Second Half of the Mountain, before I dove into this gem and so glad I did. I initially read her first book when I was in the depths of some healing I needed to do, and it helped give me understanding to some of the hard that was coming up for me just when I thought I was turning a corner and things were getting better and I thought I was feeling better in my own being. It sure is a process to shed layers of trauma, undo behavior that maybe helped me survive and thrive in some ways, but no longer serve me, and find peace in my overall life, for me. I wasn't sure what to expect from Down From the Mountain, but I loved the first book so much, I had to get this as soon as I picked it up. To say it's been another helpful book on my journey, in very divine timing, is an understatement. These books are just beautiful. They really illuminate the beauty and hard of life, and the process connecting to soul and spirit. After years of ignoring my intuition and not really giving any credence to what my soul is and needs, it's been important for me to work to honor this side of me more and these books have been so very helpful on my journey to do so.
