Can Ting Xuan and Hafiz save him from MY CREEPY CREATURE? STORY #2: THERE'S A GHOST IN MY PHOTO! Perlyn and Jamie come face to face with Angelina, a very pretty ghost who is wet, weird and very dangerous!
Wow, this was just terrible. Bad characters, over-the-top weird stories (which were also pretty boring). I thought this one sounded nice, it reminded me of R.L. Stine books, but it is nothing like that. :(
This book cover is very memorable to me. And fun fact: this is the first English book my dad ever bought for me, before he turned to the dark side and discovered Reader's Digest. I must have been around seven to nine years old. Unfortunately, I never got around to reading it to completion (nobody spoke English in my broke ass home 💀 so like, it took a while, okay with the dictionary), and then we moved away to a whole new city, and the book was lost during the chaos—I also think my sister threw it out, alas, I have no evidence of her evil deed.
Well... I should’ve just stayed curious and held on to that nostalgic feeling. These are mediocre stories at best (as an adult), but I remember this book being everywhere during my childhood and famous enough to show at my local bookstore. Then I found out now James Lee is (maybe was, since he's in his late 70s now) a creative director of an advertising agency, and it just click. He knew the market during that era, and good for him— go get that bag, king. 😂 But I can't see this series ever becoming as well-known if it were published today.
Overall, it was okay lahhhhh. Good for middle grade students.
Honestly, both plots were just alright but the casual misogyny in the first book made me roll my eyes so much. The author decided the lines "What CAN she do? She's just a girl!" is such a fun thing to read in a children's book, I guess. The second one felt better than the first one but my mood was already spoiled so two stars it shall be.
I read this book because everyone who has reviewed it already sounds a bit like they're writing wtih rocks in their mouths, or that they live the majority of their time in mountains without anyone to speak to. ;P anyway, I didn't like this book. I thought it would be like RL Stien's goosebumps, but it wasn't. This might have just been a bad one, so I'll try another of these Mr. Midnight books, I think there are a million of them or something, and see if I just picked the one stinker in teh bunch.
So, for a reccomendation I'd say: Not this one, but maybe one of the other ones.
This book has two stories. The first one is all about two kids finding ghosts in their pictures and the ghost comes to say hi to them. It asks them for help to go into the woods and the kids got lost.
The second story is all about a boy who has a computer which is alive. Find out what happens!
There are two stories in the book and the first story was called "My Creepy Computer". It was very unique and nice and scary. The second story was also very interesting and I just liked it okay!!
