THIS TIME, THEY'RE NOT JUST FIGHTING FIRE.

An original series created by bestselling authors Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips.

She was born to be a smokejumper…

He’s living a lie…

Undercover Homeland agent Booth Wilder is seeking redemption. Scarred by a past explosion that took the life of his partner, Booth is hunting a rogue CIA faction known as the Brotherhood. Now, he's determined to uncover their secrets and find a hidden nuclear weapon that could turn the world to ash.

Only problem…summer sparks have ignited between Booth and Nova. Nova is torn between her future as the smokejumping chief, her growing attraction to Booth, and the belief that he’s hiding something from her. Of course he is…Booth is hiding his true goal—unrooting the Brotherhood and returning to his life as a Homeland Security agent, a life that he’s not sure he really wants.

Then the wildfire threatens the home of the Jude County Firefighting team, and Nova doesn’t care what secrets he might be hiding—she needs everyone to save the town. But when the Brotherhood discovers Booth and his goals, the fight becomes personal. Now, Booth must choose between accomplishing his mission and saving the woman he’s come to love.

FireLine by Kate Angelo had everything a good non-stop action book should have. Running from a fire, brave heroine and hero, and a dangerous element. The story does have a plot element that piggies off an earlier climactic moment that is still growing in this story. Readers will see Nova and Booth try to overcome hurts and issues from their past and try to move forward. There are sparks flying around them and in them. Nova and Booth try to break down each other’s walls as they are trying to stop the fire through the mountainside. Angelo keeps throwing these two characters through bad moments after bad moments. They are pretty beat up by the end of the novel. As for the setting, readers of the series will be familiar with some of the fire terminology and the surroundings. They have been important in all of the books. As for the spiritual element, there are moments where the characters will reference God, but it does not seem pushy or made to convince the reader of their world view. Overall, FireLine by Kate Angelo is a delightful story with plenty of action, heart-pounding romance, and a mystery that keeps on ticking. Only one book left in the series. Wonder what Susan May Warren will come up with.

I received a complimentary copy of Fireline by Kate Angelo from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Oh, I really enjoyed getting to know Booth. His mysterious ways and connection to Crispin became known in this book. The arc in the series of ferreting out and fighting a violent anti-government group became more prominent here as Booth and Nova became targets while fighting a raging wildfire.
Booth's regrets were real, as was his courageous heart, justice-seeking bravery, loyalty, and competence. Both Booth and Nova had a lot to prove to themselves and it was gratifying to see them find their purpose and identity. Nova was an awesome smokejumper, full of drive, good instincts, and guts. I learned a lot about smokejumping and the action and suspense were absolutely intense, both in firefighting and villain chasing.
And there is a bit of surprise at the end that leads right into the next book. I can't wait to see what happens with Crispin.

Action packed from start to finish with intense danger and romance! This installment in the series focuses more on the smokejumpers and specifically Booth and Nova’s stories. Both are wrestling with their pasts while trying to navigate the sparks flying between them.

As if fighting the wildfires and its many dangers isn’t enough, Booth has an assassin after him endangering the lives of those around him. Booth struggles with trying to regain his past life or focusing on his present one. As the danger intensifies, both he and Nova must decide if they are going to allow their pasts to define them or trust God for their futures.

My favorite book of the series thus far! It kept me glued to the pages and hating to see it end. I can’t wait to what adventures the next book takes us on.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

I was hooked from the first chapter. The plot was engaging, the characters were well-written, and I was curious about Booth's past. Both Nova and Booth have to wrestle with decisions about their future.
Get ready for a heart-pounding, action-packed ride with arson, danger, secrets, and romance. Fireline will not disappoint you.

Wow! This book was my absolute favorite so far! Don’t know if it’s because these books literally get better and better, with each series installment, or because of the connection between Booth and Nova (that, yes!, hit me just right), but it was soooo good, y’all!

I. could. not. put. it. down.

Because just when you thought the stakes couldn’t get any higher, they crank it up, yet again! This book had everything: mystery, suspense, danger, and just enough peril to rend our two main characters deliciously vulnerable. Maybe that’s why I connected to them so much: they were honest and real!

Booth and Nova had me routing for them from first jump. And the life lessons and spiritual truths just got better and better as the plot thickened. Bravo, Kate, for this wild ride that was Fireline…I loved very minute!

Notable Quotables:

- “For a moment there was nothing but Booth, the wind in his ears, and the land below. Nothing but him and the God who had spoken all this into being. The wildfire ravaged the divine canvas, but underneath it all, there was a promise of renewal and rebirth.”
- “A hulking shadow stormed through the fire, heading right toward them, marching over broken two-by-fours and blazing maps of the same Kootenai National Forest where she battled wildfires. A hero coming through the flames to save her.”
- “We all come out here to find something. If Nova’s named crew chief, God already knew it. If I’m killed in the next fire, it’s no surprise to Him. We get our true identity from God, not our jobs. It’s why we’ve got to make the most of the time we have.”
- “He was in so much trouble here. Oh, how badly he wanted a chance. Wanted her. Not just the kiss he was sure they’d been about to have, but waking up beside her smile. Exploring life’s adventures together. Building something lasting from the ashes they’d risen from.”

Kate Angelo has a way with words, and she conveys so much feeling in her stories, it was nearly impossible to decide which quotes to cite! I highlighted for daysssss…

Bottom line: Don’t miss this one! It was a beautiful and integral addition to the series. But now the question is: how (on earth) are the readers supposed to wait? I don’t know about you, but I’m dying to know how this series plays out! It’s been an incredible summer Chasing Fire, and I’m excited to see how Susie May (and Crispin and Jade) wrap it up!

Fireline is another great addition to the Chasing Fire: Montana series. This series has an overarching, continued threat that is woven throughout the stories, so it helps to read these books in order. However, for the immediate romantic thread and the pressing adventure plotline, you could jump in for the ride with just this novel, knowing that there was information you would need to catch up on.

Whew! Nova frustrated me a bit at first but she quickly grew on me. Her determination and drive were some of the things that drew Booth to her. The action and danger started early in the novel and didn’t let up. Booth and Nova were both good at smoke jumping, yet there was added tension as Nova began to suspect that Booth was hiding something big.

I really enjoyed this action packed, romantic story. It was full of danger and intrigue, but also delved into some heart issues and the fear that Nova held about losing those important to her. She carried a lot of grief over the deaths of her parents when she was a teenager. Booth had his own struggles, too, and carried his own grief from a past tragedy.

I listened to the audio book and enjoyed the narration. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the series.

Fireline had it all! Fire, action, spies and nail-biting moments. Be sure to lock yourself away to finish this book.

I loved Booth. He was a hero trying to be happy with his new career while he is still longing to be the person he had to leave behind. Nova was strong but had experienced so much loss due to fire.
This series should be read in order.

In this fifth book, more things started to fall in place, more spies appear, more danger pops up and more things are left unanswered.

Kate Angelo was mentored by Lynette Eason and Susan May Warren, and this story almost made me think I was reading one of Susan May Warren’s spy-slash-marshal-hero-stories, the plot and writing was so gripping.

Looking forward to finally get to see who Crispin really is!

“People think time heals the hurt, but all it does is turn it into a specter, and we have to live with that. It haunts us the rest of our lives.”

This is where it’s at: Undercover, WITSEC, fractured and traumaed pasts. This book was a whirlwind and I loved it. When reading Firestorm I suspected that these two would match up for their HEA. It definitely wasn’t an easy ride though. Fire, secrets, and fast paced on the action, we get a HEA for two characters that have been dancing around each other this series. I loved delving into their pasts and putting a lot of pieces to our series long mystery into place. I couldn’t put this book down. I read it cover to cover in a single sitting. I’m eagerly awaiting the final installment!

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

"Fireline" by Kate Angelo, the fifth installment in the "Chasing Fire: Montana" series, is a thrilling romantic suspense novel that plunges readers into the heart of a Montana wildfire. The story follows a seasoned hotshot firefighter and a dedicated wilderness EMT as they battle both the flames and their growing feelings for each other.

Angelo's writing is both vivid and intense, painting a realistic picture of the dangers and challenges faced by those who fight wildfires. The technical details of firefighting and emergency medical care are seamlessly woven into the narrative, adding depth and authenticity to the story. The romantic tension between the main characters is palpable, creating a compelling dynamic that adds an emotional layer to the high-stakes action. The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as the characters face not only the unpredictable nature of the fire but also personal demons and external threats.

The characters are well-developed, each with their own unique backstory and motivations. The hotshot firefighter is portrayed as a strong, dedicated leader haunted by past losses, while the wilderness EMT is a compassionate and skilled caregiver determined to make a difference. Their interactions are both tender and fiery, creating a compelling dynamic that drives the story forward. The suspense is masterfully built, with each chapter revealing new clues and raising the stakes. The pacing is relentless, mirroring the speed and intensity of a raging wildfire.

Overall, "Fireline" is a standout novel in the series, combining heart-pounding action with a compelling love story and a touch of mystery. It's a must-read for fans of romantic suspense and those who appreciate stories that celebrate courage, resilience, and the power of human connection. The way the author combines the thrill of firefighting with the intricacies of human relationships makes this book a memorable addition to the series.

Things are beginning to heat up for the smokejumpers, and this storyline. This is Nova and Booth's story. Nova is singularly focused on moving up in the ranks. She is a perfectionist and very good at her job. Her only downfall is that she will never ask for help. She is self-sufficient, at least in her eyes. A past tragedy has dimmed her future. She just needs to let go a little.

We learn more about Booth Wilder and the mystery surrounding him. Though he is a smokejumper now, his first love is law enforcement. He is actually an agent with Homeland Security on the hunt for a rogue group known as the Brotherhood. He is a warrior at heart. He is brave and fearless, but he is also fighting a painful past loss.

You can feel the tension rumbling underneath the surface as these guys and gals fight the fiery beast and fight against an unknown enemy who has no problem taking lives. As Nova and Booth work together, they learn a grudging respect for the other and find themselves feeling things that they have been fighting all along. This is an adventurous ride with danger around every corner. The vivid imagery of the fire breathing dragon penned on the pages is enough to take your breath away. This is another great installment in the Chasing Fire: Montana series. I have enjoyed getting to know these characters. I feel like I have new heroic friends.

Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The action and suspense builds in the fifth installment of the Chasing Fire: Montana series. Fire Line finds the Jude County firefighting team facing the growing threat of wildfire along with an arson attack that destroyed most of their headquarters. Nova Burns hopes to be chosen as the new crew chief but a growing attraction to crew member Booth Wilder has her having second thoughts. But Booth is hiding something so her feelings are conflicted.

Dangerous men are at work in the wilderness and one is determined to get revenge for his brother’s death. They are also looking for the same man Booth is trying to find so time is of the essence. Danger is around every corner and survival is questionable.

As always, I appreciated the interaction between imperfect characters whose attempts to do the right thing was admirable. More clues were added to the mystery that has tracked through every book of the series. Although I am anxious for a resolution, I dread the end of this series.

If you are a lover of adventure-suspense novels, Fire Line may be just the book for you. I would highly recommend beginning with book one to get the entire story.

Oh my goodness. Guys, I have no words.

Except that...I think Booth might be my favorite. (sorry to all the heroes of this series before him!) I LOVED Booth Wilder, the entire novel. He first piqued my interest in the book before this (Fire Storm) and I couldn't wait to learn more about this mysterious smoke jumper. And Kate did not disappoint. She wrote Booth beautifully (both in looks and heart). I loved seeing his story take shape and the battle between his two lives was perfectly crafted!

Nova was a great match for him as well. I loved that she connected with Booth due to similar childhood heartbreak. They've both come back from that trauma strong and determined individuals. I loved how they were slowly able to lean on each other and discover a different life that may even be more fulfilling than the one they thought they would have.

Also, the mystery in this series...I just can't! I am so excited to see this come to an end and see how all of the stories come together! One the other hand, I am so sad to see this series come to a close! Such a great way to have spent the summer!

Nova Burns and Booth are both fighting wildfires in Montana for different reasons. However, one reason in common is to save lives. Both carry their own secrets, but are their secrets enough to outrun the wildly burning walls of flames? Will their growing emotions help them have courage, or will they succumb to the dangerous plots in and around the fire line? As they run towards the truth, fears can't be avoided. Yet, the truth will set them free. Together, Nova and Booth share the courageous fight to save local citizens and ultimately aid in the protection of their Country.

I loved this book, penned by Author Kate Angelo, because the written word and the courage within both Nova and Booth exemplify what Americans are made of. Faith and love also play a role in the parts we play, wherever we are. Trust, love, hope, faith in God and the American way is what is evident in this book. Because of the wonderful story, the dedicated characters and the eternal hope implanted, I give Fireline 5 stars - although I would give more if I could!! Angelo's story shows the Creator of our world is the keystone to everlasting life, love and peace.

Not a bad book but far too short for proper character development, and at times hokey enough to annoy me. The female lead got on my nerves at times and the romantic relationship didn't have a chance to blossom. It just sort of was there all of a sudden. I don't enjoy abridged books and this one reads like one, at only 5 hours long.
I really enjoyed the premise and the action. I've read books with similar themes that are far more engaging and left me seeking out the next one in the series immediately. This one didn't do that unfortunately.
Instead, I jumped in in the middle of the series because I found it through my library, but the other titles aren't available, so I probably won't continue unless I find it through the library or cheap in chirpbooks. I wouldn't spend audible credits on this series, but I will read them if I find them for free.
I do appreciate the Christian theme that isn't the dominant theme but instead part of the character makeup, and the romance that isn't overt or graphic.
Overall, a good intro for me into this series, but I'm glad I didn't spend credits ahead of time on it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nova Burns followed in her uncle's footsteps to become a smoke jumper and wants an opportunity to lead her own team. She's willing to take risks and prove herself up to the task. The only thing she's afraid of is falling in love.

Booth Wilder works alongside Nova, but he's got a different motivation. He's looking for redemption and a chance to get his life back. When his Homeland Security Agent partner was killed in an explosion, Booth went undercover to find a rogue CIA faction with possible access to a nuclear weapon. Nova is convinced that Booth is hiding something, but the truth is much more than she expects.

We were glad to see this book included more of the series plot line and an undercover government agent hiding in the Witness Protection Program. That lent more of a suspenseful, threatening aura and a different level of danger besides the raging wildfires.

Booth and Nova were frozen in their past lives trying to reclaim something that couldn’t be retrieved. Once they accepted God was the One in control and could reframe circumstances from His vantage point, they were able to start looking forward. By revealing their secrets and becoming vulnerable to each other, they started the process of healing and saw hope for the future.

We received an advance copy from the publisher. This is our honest review.

The Trouble With Fire

Author Kate Angelo has captured a scorching heartache within Booth and Nova as they fight wildfires for many different reasons. Yet, the end results are in the lives saved and bonds strengthened between them. A small part of Booth wants to reconnect with his former life of justice, while Nova believes fighting wildfires is in her blood, due to her Uncle Jock. Throughout the fire danger, as well as dangers of the past, the truth slowly unravels and has a headstart on setting them free. This book is a thrilling, suspenseful ride where old fears are extinguished one by one and the future is ahead in the light of faith in God and love. I truly loved this book and had a hard time putting it down. Angelo's words paint a portrait of love shining through the dangerous flames of fire ... I give this book five out of five stars for the adventure of life and future these words impart in exciting detail.

I’m giving this book 5 in the series a 4, because there is no 3.5. Garrett Keisler has narrated all of the books in this series. He’s improved a little on voicing females, but still needs work-especially to make the female leads not sound like teenagers. Since I have listened to the audiobooks of this series, I have to guess which are author’s mistakes in word usage (although ‘swang’ is obviously the author) and which are the narrator’s mistakes. Keisler has misread quite a few words. He also has gotten the phrasing wrong a number of times in the series-so that I’ve stopped, backed up, and re-listened to get the correct understanding and nuance. All-in-all, he’s got a nice voice to listen to otherwise.

I found Nova to be hard to like. She had no understanding of how much her stubbornness put others in danger at points in the story. She has been the character I’ve least enjoyed in the series.

Lock the door, switch off the phone, get the snacks, and settle in for the newest blockbuster book!
Kate Angelo turned up the heat in this riveting suspense that would not let go! Booth and Nova are literally in a fight for their lives while attempting to save their town and the country. The odds are stacked against them. Not only are they surrounded by an inferno of raging fires, but seriously bad dudes on the hunt for Booth and his old partner keep popping up. Will they realize they are stronger together, or will they stuck to fighting fires and bad guys on their own?
The faith-nuggets mixed throughout the book speak to your heart, while the nailbiting suspense, intrigue, romance, drama, and never-ending adventure elevates the book to blockbuster status!

Join the world of Montana's smokejumpers in the fifth book of the Chasing Fire: Montana series! Smokejumper Booth Wilder is actually an undercover Homeland Security agent looking for a rogue CIA faction! Tough Nova Burns feels it is in her blood to be a smokejumper so when the crew chief breaks his leg, Nova is ready to step up and take his place! When sparks begin flying between Booth and Nova, you will wonder if Booth will be honest with Nova and will Nova give up wanting to be crew chief? When danger presents itself, will they be more concerned with protecting each other? Fireline has constant dangerous situations! I recommend this book to those who like lots of action. I received a complimentary advance e-book through Sunrise Publishing. This is my honest opinion.

This series continues to get better in the suspense department and to surprise me with the complexity of the characters. I loved every minute of reading this book and became heavily invested in the plot and the fate of the protagonists. The descriptions were so realistic that I could almost smell the smoke from the wildfire and see everything unfolding in my mind. The villains in this series are truly diabolical. I couldn’t stop reading, and I was very appreciative of and encouraged by the biblical truths revealed throughout the book. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one!

Kate is a new author to me and I love finding new authors so I was excited to read this book. Booth was someone who was a man of mystery and he did not disappoint when he lets his secret out, I wasn't sure what I expected but it wasn't that. Nova was a hard head stubborn and sometimes I wanted to yell at her to let her guard down a little to let people in. I loved how Aria was fiercely protective of Nova and would do anything to protect her including calling out Booth. we all need and Aria in our lives. overall I enjoyed this read it keeps you guessing till the end the author keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. I will say that in the end I have so many questions and can't wait to find out what happens next to this fire crew.

Fireline catapults the reader right into the action from page one. Raging wildfires, sinister and mysterious villains and their own personal baggage and secrets—the odds are certainly stacked against Nova and Booth, the heroine and hero in this installment. Danger and uncertainty lurk around every corner, leaving these two characters in grave danger often. If you are a reader looking for non-stop action with dizzying twists and emotional ups and downs, Fireline would be a great fit.

What I loved most about Fireline was getting to check in with past characters and get even closer to the series-spanning arc centered around a certain character’s brother (no spoilers). That mystery has been my favorite part of the Chasing Fire: Montana Series. Bring on book six!

Exciting and action-packed right from the start, I could hardly catch my breath. I think this might be my favorite of the series! There was mounting danger, not only from the raging wildfire but also from a killer targeting Booth. Talk about a nail biter!

I really liked Booth and Nova. Booth was a bit of a mystery, but I loved the slow reveal of getting to know him and learning his secrets. Nova was strong-willed, determined, and fierce! I appreciated how dedicated she was to her job and saving people.

I was so glad there was some progress made with the mystery that’s surrounded these characters from the very first book. I’m very eager to get my hands on a copy of the next one, the final book in the series. This was the first book I’ve read by Kate Angelo, but it won’t be my last!

Fireline by Kate Angelo is an excellent read! This book continues with the storylines of Chasing Fire:Montana series, but also could be a stand alone read. Booth and Nova are firefighters/smoke jumpers and are the main characters along with others from books 1-4 like Sophia, Hunter, Crispin, Finn, Jo Jo, and Tucker. Booth & Nova are dealing with their past as they also look towards their future. At lot of action takes place throughout this story from multiple fires, evil doers trying to kill them, and them searching for God’s redemption in their lives. The characters grow a lot in their faith in this book like believing that God loves them and their love for each other. It is a book you won’t want to stop reading!

Kate Angelo has written another high action addition to the Chasing Fire: Montana series in Fireline. For the fifth installment in this series, we continue with a blend of perilous smokejumping danger, sweet romance, and an unsolved mystery that only builds book after book. This quick read will keep you on your toes as danger and heated emotion carry every page. To say I could hardly put this book down is not an understatement! This entire series is one that certainly packs a punch!

Fireline is the story of Booth Wilder, undercover Homeland Security agent working as a smokejumper while trying to find information to stop a terrorist group that is trying to steal a very dangerous weapon if they find it. Nova Burns is a legendary smokejumper with dreams of becoming the crew chief. They will have to work together to contain the massive fire that threatens to destroy a town and too much forest area while trying to keep emotions and attraction at arms length. We see the very real hazards being smokejumpers trying to hold the fireline against a growing firestorm. This story brings suspense, bravery and redemption to life. There’s a romance thread that is well written and blended into the story line perfectly. Faith is an integral part of the story, and it allows the reader to see light in the darkness. Unexpected twists will keep the reader on the edge of their seat looking forward to finding out what will happen next. I highly recommend this book.
My thanks to the publisher for an ARC of Fireline. The opinions expressed here are mine.

My thoughts: Fireline is the fifth book in this engaging action filled romantic suspense.  I absolutely had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next.   The author created realistic hero and heroine that made me care. I couldn't put the book down. You will want to read all the books in the series because there is an ongoing suspense that follow the series from the beginning to the end. On the other hand, each book stands alone except for that one connecting thread. I am a verified buyer and all opinions on my own.

A great story

I’ve caught glimpses of Nova and Booth in the preceding stories in this series, and I’ve been waiting to read their story. I was not disappointed. They struggled together to be the perfect team, each with something to prove and an unwillingness to let anyone get under their defences. It seemed inevitable when the author threw them into one fiery emergency after another that they would turn to each other for support. Yet nothing went to plan. I was caught by surprise as Nova raced towards her heartbreaking decision, facing her fears and putting everything on the line for a happy-ever-after that she never dreamed possible. And to have Booth play hero right to the end was great )i(

Booth and Nova's story.
continuing the story from the film set to fighting fires and the crew from Jude Smokejumpers who continue to be needed to fight the fire with winds being a large factor against them. (I'm mindful of the real fires in Canada at this time not too far over the border). The villain continues to be a ghost but with injuries they introduce a new fire crew person Jade.
Next story is hers.

Fireline is another high-octane, edge of your seat, nail-biting romantic suspense in the Chasing Fire: Montana series. This time, Booth and Nova, both smoke jumpers, have some things to prove and secrets to keep. What drives Nova? What drives Booth? Although attracted to each other, the walls each have erected place any romantic entanglements in the "KEEP OUT" zone. But when a dangerous assassin, arson and wildfires threaten their lives, will they survive to find their HEA ending?
