FYI: Due to changes being implemented by Amazon, I've had to re-number the books in this series. Formerly Book 3, this book has now been labeled Book 4 (due to the fact I had to change Book 1.5 and make it Book 2)
Updated reading order is now:
PIERCED - Book 1
ESCAPED - Book 2 (formerly Book 1.5)
PINKED - Book 3
PERFECT - Book 4
NAPOLEON - Book 5 (stand-alone novella)

"Can't live with him, can't live without him."

Never have these words seemed more true to Pierce as she deals with the aftermath of Salt Lake City. She and Lucas can't seem to stay apart from each other for very long without the night panics happening again - but being together is almost as torturous. Will her past ever allow her to be intimate with him? Can she afford to let her guard down and allow herself to be happy? She's still suffering from the post-traumatic stress of what happened to her the last time she did that.

But on the plus side, their little town of Nowhere is coming along in leaps and bounds. So much so, that it has appeared on the radar of the wolf community. Or at least Pierce's presence has.

Suddenly it seems like Nowhere is THE place to be these days...

I have had every job from an ice cream truck driver to chocolate factory worker to waiting tables in a Las Vegas casino.

I grew up in the Middle East (Abadan, Iran) and Spain (Fuengirola, Costa Del Sol) and finally ended up finishing High School in England (Weymouth, Dorset). I emigrated to the United States in 1990, and returned to school at the ripe old age of 28, where I obtained a BA and then two MA degrees – all in New York, NY. (Hunter College, NYU and Columbia, respectively)

I have traveled extensively, including a 3 month stay in India, but have settled in Las Vegas, NV of all places where I have been living for the last 7 years with my two “babies” Alabama Worley Mells and Persephone Jayne Mells. (Yes, I have been called the Crazy Cat Lady).

Oh, and although I do share a love of Trance music and reality T.V. with my main character, I can’t cook to save my life!

What a fantastic addition to the series! In this fourth installment, we find Pierce, still coping with past traumas, and learning to control her newly discovered abilities. Still adjusting, and with Pink by her side, she has tapped into the mysterious wellspring -- a seemingly boundless source of energy, that's keeping her up at night, and fueling her. But it's better than the alternative.

Once she sleeps, her dreamwalking is taking her back to the very source of her trauma... back to Dorian. And now, above the rafters of Dorian's secret lair, a mysterious creature lurks, with leathery wings... shielded under a shroud of doom. Trying to understand the purpose of the creature's presence, and seeking to uncover Dorian's hiding place, Pierce keeps her discovery a secret. But will she unravel the mystery before it's too late?

There are so many amazing characters in this series, and in this installment we delve deeper into the lives of this fascinating cast of vampires and werewolves. This is truly a character driven plot -- the characters have deep, rich, and troubled lives, and as the story unfolds, you can't help wanting to follow them into the darkest corners of their enchanting world to get a closer look at what will happen next!

Perfect combines colorful descriptives, enticing characters, and plenty of wit to keep you entertained to the end! An imaginative and spellbinding tale, and a must read for paranormal romance fans!

This book freaking rocked and then rocked some more.

I loved this series, it seemed like I waited forever for the third book to come out and even though there was some things that I was frustrated with (the near ending) I still gave it five stars because well the book freaking rocked. I love the gang of characters, I love how Pink (Lucas) has become a great alpha and how J.C Mells didn't rush their relationship. It was like a work of art when things became into place into the series and that I enjoyed. Some of this stuff in the series is dark and disturbing but that is part who the character Pierce is. I can't wait for Naps story to come and boy oh boy I really hope she continues with Pink and Pierce in the future.

Perfect. The title of the book and a very good description of this third entry in the Pierced series. I originally discovered this gold mine of a series last year when I was asked to review it. Little did I know it would be one of my favorite series!

I LOVE PIERCE! She is one crazy awesome character. A little nutso, but if you read the previous titles you would know it’s justifiable. Lucas is the perfect complement to her. He, of course, has his issues but a better couple I couldn’t find. How these two manage to stay apart for so long is anyone’s guess but it certainly is comical. Got to say. When they caved, I cheered! The flock of characters that I have come to love (and hate) are all gathered in this book plus a few interesting extras. Damn near peed myself laughing every time Fabian made his appearance. Is it wrong that I want each of them to get their own story? I was devastated when I reached the end of the book. So much is going on in the growing town of Nowhere I never want this series to end.

I do have to warn you about one thing. There is a running them thorough all the books that have me going bonkers. Pierce has this think for cooking and the author has this incredible ability to write out the food preparations to the point I can SMELL the food. In a previous title it was fried chicken (still drooling). This go around it’s meatballs. OMG how I want them.

I noticed the author gave herself a 5-star review. Go right ahead JC, you totally deserve it. Here, let me give you one, too. This series totally rocks! Anyone who isn’t reading it, seriously is missing out. And folks, this series is one of those you need to read in order. Don’t skimp and miss out on Escape (Book 1.5). It answers so many questions. Read Perfect. It is totally worth it.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

You have to read the others first. And then you *have* to read this one.

JC's style is all her own, and Pierce's voice is dramatically different to the run-of-the-mill UF heroines. I should say voices, and it seems that, as Pierce heals, her voices lessen. She becomes (slowly) more sure of herself, and that is depicted very well in the books.

I was concerned that the cast of characters was growing too quickly, and some of the secondary characters are sketchy, but the main characters are so well drawn and have engaging arcs of their own.

The humor is light and constant, providing good contrast to the suspense and the truly dark background that feeds it.

The romance is integral, and it doesn't sabotage the progress of the story. Slight spoilers here: The romance culminates in two scenes. I've seen others praise the sex, and it's hot stuff all right, but the writing that follows is what most impressed me. Pierce has a horrific sexual history, the sort that can't just be smoothed over and forgotten. Pierce survived by building coping mechanisms and relying on rituals to keep her shaky sanity. That sort of thing can't just be abandoned. The way she and Lucas disassemble these together is profoundly moving and superbly portrayed.

The story comes to a satisfying conclusion and terminates one major arc, but leaves the door open for more.

Highly recommended.

*** Review for books 3 & 4 ***
Please tell me why I didn't immediately run out and buy the following 2 books in the series after reading the first one, I like Pierce was clearly suffering a psychotic break and have subsequently fired the voices in my head (any applications for this position can be sent to my email).

This for me was one of the best series I have read in a while with the added benefit of being finished so you can read all the books in one sitting. No, sorry scratch that I'm lying, I want more adventures from Pierce and Lucas, even though this was a great end to the series.

Pierce is just amazing despite what she has had to endure while Lucas.... well what can I say i can't think of one women who wouldn't just love a guy like him, he wants Pierce, voices and all sighhh..
Any highly recommended for anyone looking for something wonderfully dark and tragic yet with a HEA.

Just finished the Beta and, OMFG!!! J. C. does it again – another brilliant story full of pain and hate, love and understanding and a tremendous cast of characters. Watch here – I will let you know as soon as I know when it is coming out – and you have to read this book! Of course, if you haven’t read the first ones, you have to read those too- – - these are too good to miss!

Thanks, J. C. Mells!!!

**I had to go back and fix this because I realized I wrote something that wasn't what I meant lol**

Awesome addition to the Pierced series! If you haven't already, go read book 1 Pierced. The first book starts out a little slow but if you keep reading, you won't regret it. This is definitely my favorite book of the series. I couldn't stop reading, it sucked me in and I had to force myself to stop so I could sleep.(I didn't get much sleep lol) There are so many characters you can't help but fall in love with and connect with. I didn't want this book to end and I hope it's not the last we hear of Pierce and her crazy life

Not wanting to leave any spoilers, I just want to say this book was a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy, with a little window of hope for more stories of this odd family...or community of Weres, Vampires, and ordinary (or is that "extraordinary"?) humans.

My favorite book might be the second, now considered the third, (since 1.5 is now 2) in this series, but this book was edited MUCH better than the previous two!

I hope Ms. Mells continues to write her very imaginative books...
As I am her devoted fan!

Expect this book to be available by Wednesday, 5th March at the latest! Might try and sneak it up earlier if all goes well.

I know it's a bit much to give my own book 5 stars...but I had to choose and seeing as how I've been living, breathing and eating this book for the last few weeks - the 5 stars goes towards my blood, sweat and tears, lol :) I will say that it's my favorite in the series thus far...

Highly recommended!!! 4th book in the series, and my favourite. I loved the intensity of the growing tensions, and how all the characters developed. I feel I know them, and would love to see a film of this series, absolutely awesome!!!

Wow. The first 69% of this book was a literal snooze fest. I am astounded that it's rated so high. It must be due to the small amount of ratings because once more people read these I can't help but think they'd agree with me.

Spoiler alert: This series has drug out Pierce and Pink hooking up forever. I say that lightly as there were very few scenes with anything going on. It was mostly him leaving the room, or her looking away from him while talking to someone else. So finally after being 69% into this book where we only hear more wolf pack plans, and training for Pierce, and cooking from Pierce with details on how she cooked a recipe.. ugh, Pink and Pierce both show up at a concert where Pierce finally tells Pink she's "ready." They head back to a motel and hook up. Immediately followed by more hooking up and then getting married.

After heading back home all of a sudden it's time to get Dorian again (after all this time of nothing) and another spoiler alert: they get Dorian. Literally within a chapter or so.

I can't begin to describe how very disappointed in this series I am. Book one, while somewhat slow, was interesting enough for me to continue. Admittedly it did help that I had purchased 1-3 already. Then it just went downhill from there.

My advise for this author is to condense this 'series' into a more compact, shorter, ONE BOOK. at most TWO! (But yeah, one would do it!) There's so much unnecessary information it's ridiculous!

The concept was pretty good but the execution was dreadful! The writing itself was pretty good, it was just too long winded. This author needs to learn how to edit or find someone who can do it for her. She is self published here and it shows! An editor would have told her nothing less. This is way too winded!

I would NOT recommend anyone else read this series as a 4 book series! If she gets this down to one book then YES, GO FOR IT. I has such great potential but it's lost in all the narrative.

I ONLY give this a two star because it finally ends by wrapping itself up with with a nice bow on top. The first 69% of this book rated a big goose egg!

Yes yes and a booh rah yes! What a smooth and satisfying conclusion to the tale so far. Not one of those tidy little bow moments but a real conclusion. Pierce finally comes into her own and finally gets close to Pink at a rave which is concluded by a few nights in a hotel.

She has her showdown with Dorian who is shocked to discover that he is not as omnipotent as he has led everyone to believe

I'm a fan of the urban fantasy genre and consider myself fairly well-versed on the standard mythos and legends of the various supernatural races including vampires, witches, were-animals, etc. However, I can honestly say that Ms. Mells has created a surprising and refreshing world of characters with unique and interesting abilities and histories that creates an opportunity for some amazing storytelling.

At its heart, the PIERCED Series is a story about a girl who has suffered tremendous loss and is searching for safety, stability, family, and ultimately love. During her young life Pierce has encountered the worst of humanity yet manages to begin trusting in others as she works to build a life for herself and her daughter. In PERFECT, we see Pierce finally opening herself up to the possibility of love, while obsessively seeking to destroy her greatest enemy before he can destroy her or her fledgling family. Along the way we meet a host of new characters, some good, some evil, but all quite interesting and central to the plot.

Again, as in her previous installments, Ms. Mells does not waste time on non-essential characters, nor does she create silly conflicts as pseudo-plot devices. Rather, she creates opportunities for her characters to grow organically through realistic experiences, (well, realistic in terms of the fantasy genre), while showing all the warts and flaws that we find so endearing in her very well fleshed-out characters. We see Pierce experiencing psychological trauma and loss, but we also see her newfound confidence in herself and the love of her family pulling her through. If you haven't read the other books in this series, I highly recommend that you do so. Many authors can create a single, successful novel in the fantasy genre. Some can even create two or three before they begin to run out of material and/or begin to go off the deep end. Few, however, and I mean VERY few, can create four consecutive books (don't miss ESCAPED, book 1.5) in a series that are truly worthy of 5 STARS. On top of that, though Ms. Mells leaves us with a very satisfying ending in PERFECT, as any good storyteller does, she leaves the door open for more adventures with not only Pierce, but any number of other interesting characters. I am already trying to figure out where the PIERCED story is heading next, but I am sure Ms. Mells will surprise us all with her wickedly creative imagination.

The typos in this book were distracting, just like in the others of the series. Most of the typos are of homophones, i.e. words that sound the same but mean different things and are spelled differently, therefore wouldn't be caught in a spelling check.

Here's some examples of the typos:

Kindle version
Location 116 – should be “bated,” not “baited” breath
Location 436 – should be ‘souped-up hearing,” not “suped”
Location 465 –
* there should be a comma between “bed” and “Mia” in the first sentence, not the start of a new sentence. “Mia’s surly mood exacerbated further by the fact that Oscar had left without saying goodbye to her first” is not a proper sentence.
* “one of the side effects of being a ‘person with abilities’” should then be followed by “is” not “means” – the verb should go with “one of the side effects”

That said, the storyline is very enjoyable and the protagonist and supporting characters are very likable (except for Mia who is a bratty pre-teen, so that's to be expected).

Another thing that I didn't like is that Oscar’s speech is reminiscent of Handy Manny, i.e. saying something in Spanish and then repeating it in English – I assume for the benefit of those readers who don’t speak Spanish. For those of us that do, it is annoying to read something twice. Do one or the other, not both. A real Spanish speaker wouldn't do this in regular conversations.

I do love the story and the characters, like I said, so my issues are minor quibbles. Because the author truly appreciates critique, I'm offering the above. If you (the author) would ever like someone to help edit your work, please feel free to let me know.

OK I finally finished this book last night. Tough time of year to steal time to read for me. IT WAS SO WORTH staying up to do! I really loved how things finally came together for Pierce in this book. Pierce deserves the happiness I believe she has finally found. This series is WELL WORTH THE READ! Good combo of werewolf/vampire/human, without screaming super natural!

I was a bit disappointed in how quickly the ending wrapped up. Seemed to effortless for Pierce to elminate Dorian. Still a great ending and love that she is now completely FREE! Hated that her Grandfather died, but he was ready and truly pleased with his life and HER!

Can't wait to see what else JC Mells writes. I will certainly be following her future writings!

Oh my, what a story!!
I never thought I would like a story that had vampires in it but this story with vampires, werewolves and sorcerers was absolutely incredible!
Pierce and Pink finally get it together, Pink accepts and loves all of Pierces ways, all her quirks and her voices. Pierce gets to know her grandfather and his assistant , her grandfather Virendra helps Pierce with all her "abilities" and shows her how to channel the energy from the well spring.
There are parts of this story where I've burst out laughing, parts where I've been frustrated and parts where I could have cried!
You have to read this series in order or you won't understand what is going on.
I would highly recommended this series, I loved, loved, loved it!

Great

This is a great book in a great series. There action, magic, werewolves, vampires, friendships, and love. The main character is amazing as is the rest of the characters and the story line. When you read it you can't help but to keep reading till the end and then you don't want it to stop. I hope the writer is writing another one or two. So grab this whole series and enjoy reading some really great books.

4.75 stars...this book was almost Perfect. I thought the big showdown with the villain was a bit quick to resolve. Had been building up for 4 books and then it was quickly over but not too bad, I liked the confrontation as well so I guess I'm being a bit contradictory. Everything else was Perfect. The moments between Pink and Pierce, the consummation of their relationship, all the secondary characters...love this series. Can't wait for more!

Finally, the third book in the Pierced series is here and just like the title it’s Perfect! The story was sort of slow paced to start this time but as I adore the characters this didn’t bother me at all. A thoroughly satisfying ending to a fantastic, original and emotionally gripping story - Perfect!

Man this series just sucked me in. I do not even like vampire fantasy books. The main character reminds me of myself and I think that is what drew me in. Those internal struggles are so real. **** I am not a werewolf or a vampire. I hope there is another series from this author!

One of the best I've read Ina long time!

I've been ready for a new action, kick ass heroine and Pierce delivers in spades. Please don't let this be the end, with this heroine and the team behind her, a lucky reader has hit series gold.
