Silveri Sisters #4

The Wolf's Bride

Rate this book
A cursed shifter. A nature witch. A quest that will bring them together.

Serafina Silveri is the daughter of a seer and well known for her biting tongue and short temper. Though the town doesn’t know her secret power, they’ve long suspected her of being just as ‘witchy’ as her sisters. Spending her days helping her mother care for their enchanted villa and running errands in town, Serafina longs for something more exciting.

Angelo Rossi left Zamerra years ago, with a plan to return and win the heart of the fiery witch he grew up with. When tragedy strikes, he’s left cursed and his dream shattered. Back for a final farewell, Angelo is reminded of the home and people he’s giving up.

Seeing her chance to leave town and find adventure, Serafina sets out to help her childhood rival break his curse. She has long since buried her feelings for the stubborn Angelo, but the more time she spends with him, the more she’s in danger of falling for him again.

Can they break his curse and heal their old wounds or will their quest fail and bring more heartache for both of them?

Welcome to Zamerra where cozy fantasy intertwines with Italian cottage-core and fairy-core. Within this gaslamp fantasy realm, you’ll find witches, fae, warlocks, house elves, and much more! Each standalone book features a sweet romance and heart-warming tale of family that readers can explore in any order.

Ugh all throughout this series you’re praying for Angelo and Serafina to get together. For him to come back and be committed to marrying another just shatters your heart. I absolutely loved this story from adventures to the banter this book really has it all!

Accept yourself for who (or what) you are
Whether it’s our height (or lack thereof), our dexterity, our voice, or whatever…our basic “factory set” is exactly who we are supposed to be. Some skills we can learn to an extent and other talents are for those who excel in them. If we could all cook & bake as well as Serafina’s sister Pamina, how would her coffee & pastries stand out?
On the other hand…how could I tell Angelo that he has to Radically Accept his curse and all that it entails (pun intended!)? Sudden life changes can be traumatic and many of them are not merely temporary. Hopefully, he’ll soon realize that pain shared is also a burden shared.

Fave line:
‘When you live next door to witches, you stop asking questions.’

If only we lived in a world where stress could be relieved by simply eating cannoli!

Until the next in series releases (‘The Druid’s Bride’), we readers can but dream about unicorns and dancing with the faeries.

This might be my favorite book of the series. I still love Lilliana and the more mature story she told in book two, but Serafinas fight, the expansion of the world, the inclusion of a faery parallel world, all of it made the world and the story so much bigger. There was more conflict, more grit, I felt more invested. Character-wise, I appreciated that Seraphina could be mad at Angelo and still come through for him. It was nice to see her character not be the recused but for her to be the rescuer.

I am really enjoying this series, each sister is so different but their stories are all so good. Having read the other books in this series you just had a feeling that Serafina and Angelo were going to end up together but their path to happily ever after was a difficult one, for sure.
But I did love their banter and their love and affection for each other was clear to see. I also loved the way Angelo stuck by Serafina when they were in dangerous situations.
Looking forward to reading Fiorella's story next.

Good story!

I love Serafina's fiery attitude. She doesn't take crap from anyone. She's fiercely protective of her family and her love, Angelo. I did not like that Angelo seemed like such a coward for most of the book, but I'll chalk that up to being unsettled due to becoming a werewolf. It was a good story, though the Angelo's conflict with the werewolf pack resolved so easily & quickly. Made the whole situation seem inconsequential.

I'm very interested to read Fiorella's story next. There was quite a bit of teasing about her story.

I love the entire series, but this one might just be my favorite. Each book is so unique that I’m not sure it’s fair to have a favorite (like children), but I truly enjoyed Serafina and Angelo’s story. Perhaps because if you’ve read the series in order you knew they were destined for each other.

This book takes place five years after The Goblin’s Bride. Angelo left at the end of that book and hasn’t returned to Zamerra, not that Serafina is pining for him! Angelo was bitten by a werewolf soon after moving away. He has tried everything to break his curse, but nothing works. He sneaks back to town to say a final goodbye to his family. Serafina finds out he is home and has words for him as only Serafina would. She swears that she will never see him again until her seeress Mama encourages her to have an adventure and help Angelo. Serafina sets off to save the man she loves from himself.

Medina does a wonderful job writing their banter!! It’s adorable and hilarious! What I appreciated most about this love story is that they get mad at each other, yet have a deep enough friendship and respect for each other to talk about why they said or did what they did. I appreciated the maturity of their relationship. Medina deftly demonstrated how our protagonists worked through their problems. The additional layers to this story, such as Serafina’s relationship with her younger sister Fiorella and the theme of accepting who you are, were wonderful additions.

What a relatable plight Serafina has! Everyone else are new wifies and mommies, and she’s watching them collectively move on. And then Angelo and Salvatore, individually dealing with a mother who can’t accept who you are or who you choose to love. Again I say, these books are simple but better than they should be.

One of my favorite aspects of “The Wolf’s Bride” in particular is Medina’s willingness to just say “yep, five years have passed”, and I’d love to see more authors do this to get characters to appropriate ages for their behavior. She lets their circumstances dictate behavior out of what’s normally acceptable, and treats the characters truly like new adults.

This series was really sweet, I will not soon be forgetting the Silveri sisters’ stories. The last book is out in July this year so hoping I remember to pick it up and find out what happens with Fiorella (and assuming it’s the Druid boy from the first book?).

There are five Silveri sisters, witches. Each has her own unique gift. Serafina is the fourth daughter and her gift allows her to talk to, hear, and command animals and this is her story. I love this series. Each daughter so different in temperment and talents. I also enjoy the supporting cast of characters. So much fun to visit this world for a while. How sad I will be when the series ends.

This is a paranormal romance with a twist. Of course, the sharp-tongued and impulsive Serafina becomes mated to a werewolf (hence the title). It is the identity of the werewolf that came as a surprise to me. Serafina wants an adventure and seizes the chance when it comes along. Carpe diem, as they say, and Serafina carpe'd the diem indeed!

I liked the beginning, but there was too much miscommunication and bad decisions, and the romance wasn’t convincing. I didn’t like it as much as Pamina’s story, but I’m interested to see what’s happening with Fiorella.

I received an ARC and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

R.L. Medina's writing always elicits cozy fantasy vibes that makes the book feel like a warm blanket and a hot drink on a cold day, but this one is different.

There's adventure, there's sass, there's angst, there's mystery and above all, there's so much love.

I enjoyed Serafina's story as much as I enjoyed her three older sisters'. The hot-temepered Silveri finally finding love and happiness is truly heartwarming.
What a wonderful book!

Can't wait to read Fiorella's story next.
