I don’t usually binge on anything, (except Butterfingers), but dang is this series legit binge-worthy. Gotta head over to Amazon and get vol. 4, like now!

I wouldn't begrudge anyone for bailing on this series early on due to how disgusting the sexism is, but I think it is worth sticking through to see Onizuka grow as a character. It's hilarious and the way Onizuka just plows through everything with dumb luck and charisma is awesome.

A crazy volume with the whole vice president car thing. I loved Morai's story and Tadokoro as well.

Eikichi Onizuka (22), old virgin and ex-biker. crude, foul-mouthed, and very temperament.
He has a dream to be the Greatest High School Teacher in the World!!! but the thing behind that great dream is to score with the hot students ^_^"
Onizuka may think he’s the toughest guy on school, but when he meets his class full of bullies, blackmailers, and scheming sadists .... huwaaa. Honestly, I'm not really like this book. But there is available in Dorama, and the dorama is more interesting to watch.

Read this series first back in adolescence, and as I go through the same books this present day I find how resonant some themes that the author touches upon remain. Surely at face value the series might come across as silly or over the top; but it is in fact deeply rooted in everyday themes, troubles, vulnerabilities, passions among other threads. A real depiction of human connection as a manga can get.

Although volume three was a step up from the first two volumes for me, I still cannot find myself getting into this series. So I'm going to give up on it, and trade these first three volumes on a book trading site. The series is so popular, I'm sure the person who picks them up will be able to appreciate them more than I can.

better than the tv series

Meet Eikichi Onizuka, a 22-year-old college karate champ and ex-biker. He's crude, foul-mouthed, and has a hair-trigger temper. Just the sort of guy you'd expect to see going back to school...to become a teacher

I'm not the biggest fan of Onizuka's response to the student's bullying. Yes, the perpetrators needed to be taken down a peg, but I wouldn't consider that to be the best way to do it.

Also, I do kind of wish that Onizuka knew more about Social Studies.
