USA Today Bestselling Author Tiffinie Helmer is always up for a gripping adventure. Raised in Alaska, she was dragged 'Outside' by her husband, but escapes the lower forty-eight to spend her summers commercial fishing on the Bering Sea.
A mother of four, Tiffinie divides her time between enjoying her family, throwing her acclaimed pottery, and writing of flawed characters in unique and severe situations.
REEL Trouble by Ms. Tiffinie Helmer is REAL GOOD. No, it better than good, it’s fantastic! It’s the flagship in her new series, Wild Women of Alaska.
The same as her Wild Men of Alaska, this series contains 4 short novella’s that can be read as standalone, while still having a connected with her Full length novel series, Romance on the Edge.
As the series name indicates, these stories are about the women of Alaska and I adore stories about strong independent women. Nobody does them better than Ms. Helmer.
The fictional story of Reel Trouble takes place in the real town of Unalaska, also known as Dutch Harbor. Staying true to her style, Tiffinie has once again bought the images she describes to life, giving reader a looking into lives of the people who live in this small city located in the Aleutian Islands off mainland Alaska. Her vivid portrayals of the location and the people are so real that you almost forget that you are reading a fictitious story.
This is the setting that we first meet, Seana Brogan. She has just moved to Unalaska as their new Deputy Chief. So not only does she feel the need to prove herself because she is a women doing a man’s job, she has the added task of trying to fit into a small, close knit community.
I fell in love with Seana from the moment I started reading, she is not only a strong self-confident women who knows what she wants and will do whatever she needs to see it done. I loved the fact that she could hold her own with the big boys but she doesn’t lose her femininity.
Our hero, Treat Devereux, resident playboy doesn’t know what hit him when he meets Seana. Not only does she astound him, she seems unaffected by his charm. He has never met a woman who hasn’t fallen for his allure and he makes it as a personal challenge to sweep her off her feet.
The cat and mouse game between these two was a joy to read, each holding their own in the chase. It was refreshing to read about two tough characters that weren’t tormented through out the whole story.
I don’t think I will ever be able to eat crab again without thinking to the magnificently written section, when Treat made them dinner and Seana decides to take control of the growing desire between them.
"Are you going to eat?" Treat rumbled. Her eyes flew up from his fingers where they clutched the handle of the mallet. This was it. Did she take what she wanted? To hell with what she should do and just reach for what satisfied? The longer she looked at Treat the tenser he became, the darker his eyes until they churned like a tempest mirroring the storm roiling through her. "I'm too hungry to eat." She pulled her napkin free from where he'd tucked it into her collar. The act freed another few buttons and left her shirt gaping open, allowing a view of her lacy red bra. It seemed to break something in Treat. He tugged his napkin free, and in another motion, he stood and yanked her into his arms, his mouth swooping down and smothering hers.
*SWOONING*
If you haven’t read one of Tiffinie Helmer’s book, REEL TROUBLE is a perfect introduction to a breathtaking series and if you are a fan, then, you already know you’re in for an amazing read.

Get ready to be Reeled in for the next Wild Alaskan series by Tiffinie Helmer. If you are not familiar with Ms Helmer's books jump in she writes with such vivid detail . You can see Alaska feel the wind . She brings the story alive . The Wild Women of Alaska series will deliver much like her Wild Men of Alaska series. This series is filled with women who are strong independent and passionate. Not afraid to live the life they want.
Treat is a treat to most women. A man who women come to him. Catch and release that's the way to go. That is until he finds himself handcuffed by the new Deputy Chief. Really ? It wasn't his fault two women were going at each other with a dead salmon! He was trying to stop it. But one look at Seana and now it's Treat who is planning on a change. No more catch and release he's casting out and willing to let the line play out and cast out lures she can't resist . This is the one woman who won't get away if he can help it.
Seana her life has always been a cop and that's all there is to life right? No time for men no need for men they are just trouble. Then as she is walking down the dock seeing a man between two women one who is aiming a dead salmon at the other. Yep she really is seeing this. She thinks Trouble this man is trouble. The kind of trouble she has avoided. The kind of trouble she wouldn't mind cuffing to a bed . But nope not going there.
Small town life Treat can and will use that to his advantage. Seana will do her best to slip the lure. The town is just going to sit back and enjoy watching their local boy finally meet his match.
Great start to a new series! I love Tiffinie's books. Alaska becomes more interesting and I find myself wanting to visit there soon. This really is a novella but Tiffinie often mixes novellas, short stories and full length novels in her series...which keeps us all guessing. In Reel Trouble we meet the new Deputy Chief, Serena, and fisherman and playboy of Dutch Harbor, Treat. I will admit, I did not like Treat at first. He was the town womanizer, having relationships with multiple women at the same time, including two sisters who open the book with a fish encounter gone bad. I immediately liked and identified with Serena. Working hard to prove herself in her new leadership role. She is the type of woman who would be utterly annoyed with someone like Treat, and at first she is...but that changes. She can't deny the attraction she feels for Treat and he quickly realizes that their connection is much deeper then just the incredible physical attraction they have for eachother. I loved this novella. My only complaint is I wish the book was a little longer because I definitely did not get enough of Serena and Treat! Can't wait for the next book in this series! I have to also thank Tiffinie for writing such strong, independent female characters. I have found recently that I have had quite enough of the heroine who gives up everything so she can have babies and make a pretty house for her hero. While that works fine for some women, I think a larger majority of women have found full lives by combining work and family. This makes Tiffinie's books so much more real!
With every new book that Tiffinie Helmer produces, I proclaim it to be the best one yet, and it's true. They keep getting better and better, but this one blows the rest out of the water. It's better than all the others combined.
In nearly 40 years of reading romances, this was the first time I wasn't rooting for a happy ending -- in fact, I didn't want an ending at all. I wanted the hero, Treat Devereaux, for myself. Sure, I understand that he's fiction, but I was hooked on that man from the first time he opened his mouth.
The chemistry between Treat and Seana was sizzling. It reminded me of the chemistry between the characters portrayed by Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin in The Big Easy. Somebody call the Fire Department because these two are smokin' hot!
Did I happen to mention that I loved this book? I'd definitely give it more than 5 stars if that were possible. Buy it, read it, enjoy!
Takes a very strong woman to battle with the men of Alaska. Seanna took on the job of Assistant Police Chief in a town (village) in remote Alaska. Dutch Harbor is a fisherman's town. Rough and tumble town with action always happening. Treat a drift boat captain in Ms. Helmer's story "Hooked" didn't have a huge roll. But as the hero in this story he was one you would let into your real life. Seanna has a funny secrete that comes out in the most interesting time in the story. A must read for anyone. Love this author.
Treat and Seana rocked my world! (And the boat). I LOVED Tiffinie Helmer's Wild Men of Alaska. She transports me to this really exotic place every time I read one of her books. These Wild Women are gearing up to be even better! (if that's possible) This couple is unconventional, strong, sexy, and hilarious. I'm just enchanted by them!
Tiffinie baits the hook and reels us in with quality writing. She spins a tale that will have you laughing. What do you say about a book that starts with action of a frozen fish, a stud muffin, two women fighting over the stud muffin and a new female sheriff in town. Well the bigger they are the bigger they fall and to see how this all plays out you really need to read. This is a new series by Tiffinie called Wild Women of Alaska. If you are not a reader of Tiffinie's books this is a good place to start as it is the first in a new series. I guarantee you will love it.
Tiffinie Helmer has done it again! This book is a very fast read because you cannot put it down. Based in the famous Dutch Harbor, Alaska, you are introduced to a strong minded woman and a gotta have womanizer. The heat created by these two is more than enough to melt all the glaciers in Alaska. Such a great introduction to Tiffine's new series. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Seana and Treat Treat is a bit of a ladies man so when he gets arrested for disturbing the peace. He wasn’t even the one doing the disturbing he was just the cause, lmao.
Seana is the arresting officer because she is the new Deputy Chief in town and has something to prove. The attraction is strong but Seana can’t or won’t admit her attraction. Treat has always been lulled by the sea until he meets Seana, she is anchoring him to land for the first time in his life.
This is a great little love story and a good start to an interesting series. I really enjoyed the narration.
I stayed up all night to finish this book and I want to start reading it all over again. I got the book as a gift from the Author and I thoroughly enjoyed it, just like I enjoy all of Tiffinie's books. This is the first book/novella of the "Wild Women of Alaska" and I can't wait to read the whole series. All her books have wonderful characters that I just adore, but I especially like it when the women are strong and independant. And the men are never shabby either. She makes me want to go to Alaska and start fishing, something I never done. But regardless her books let me escape the daily grind and what is better than that?
Reel Trouble: Wild Women of Alaska by Tiffinie Helmer is SOOO GOOD! I am new to Tiffinie and I am so Happy I found her and her AMAZING BOOKS!! This book keeps you wanting more! It Flows well! I couldn't put it down! I also LOVE ALASKA so reading about it is even better! Dutch Harbor is One of my Favorite places! Treat and Seana and so fun to go on the Journey with! I AM NOT A PERSON THAT WRITES SPOILERS SOOO I GUESS ALL I CAN SAY IS, GRAB YOUR COPY NOW! HURRY!
New Deputy Chief of Dutch Harbor Seana Brogan gets called to a scene between two women, a man, and a frozen fish, no it is not a joke. Seana quickly sizes up the playboy Treat Devereux who appears to be care free and has no issue sharing his charm with any woman in his sights however Seana is not pleased. Not making friends Seana realizes she needs to get to know the townspeople in order to earn their trust, that includes Treat.
Treat tries his best to win over Seana but the stunning woman rebuffs him at every turn, until she doesn't. Treat is caught though, he wants Seana and not just for a night.
What a fun book. I have been to Dutch Harbor so I thought this was spot on with the town. I thoroughly enjoyed this it was filled with humor and chemistry. Well worth picking up.
A must-read story about an independent woman Deputy Chief of Police and a sexy fisherman. She is commanding, tough, no-nonsense kind of lady. Treat, lover of all women liked what he saw when he met Seana. Cannot say instant sparks because Seana was sarcastic when he kept trying to get her to go out with him. Delightful, humorous tale. Tiffinie Helmer writes a story that grabs the reader and keeps them hooked until she is ready to set them free. Some steamy scenes. I recommend this one.
The first in another fabulously hot series by Tiffinie Helmer. Although all her series are about strong independent and bright women this one is slightly different. Her Romance on the Edge series was suspenseful and sexy. Reel Trouble has sexual tension from the get go and a sexy hot fisherman the cause of it all. Treat is a player and Seana is the Deputy Chief, newly hired and not looking for a relationship. I think you can figure out where this takes us. It's the sweet unexpected things Treat does for Seana that makes you love him. He's bright and charismatic, using words like "twitterpated" to describe himself. It's down right funny just listening to their banter, sexy and comedic the perfect mix.
Favorite quote: "I've never been so turned on before by a woman laying claim to me, and you're not even wielding a deadly fish."
Dutch Harbor, home of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch series, is also where Treat Devereux drops anchor when he’s not fishing and where Seana Brogan patrols the streets as Deputy Chief of Police. Treat’s catch and release dating style makes him the catch every girl in town hopes to land but when he meets the new Deputy Chief he gets hooked by her sexy looks and even sexier no-nonsense attitude. The trouble starts when Treat steals a kiss while in jail and then Seana’s hunger drives her to reel in the trouble she was determined to avoid. The steamed crab smothered in melted butter is not the only mouthful caught by this fisherman’s rough hands and the even rougher passion of this wild woman of Alaska. The place is real, the catch is real, and Seana and Treat are Reel Trouble!
Well I had no Reel Trouble getting through this book because I could not put it down. It was funny and sexy and tender. What more can you ask for from a book. Great job Tiffinie!! It is a must read and I can't wait for book 2 to see what these wild women are up to!!!
Reel Trouble is an outstanding romantic suspense by Tiffinie Helmer. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms. Helmer has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with a cast of characters you can't help but love. Seana is the new Deputy Chief of Police and new to this part of Alaska. Treat is the owner of several fishing boats but lands in trouble when two women start fighting over him when he docks. Seana and Treat's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Tiffinie Helmer soon. Reel Trouble is book 1 of the Wild Women of Alaska Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Wild Alaska book 1. Shawna is the new, deputy chief in onalaska. Not a very popular choice in a very small community that has much more men than women. Her first encounter with crab fisherman Treat Davenport has her intorrupting two cousins beating each other with fish over him. Not impressed and not wanting to get close to any man makes Shawna a big challenge for Treat who falls for her fast. The story is funny, steamy and very insta-love but entertaining!
Book could have been great but...... The problem with this book is that it isn't a book it is a novella. Because it is a novella there isn't time for a full plot. No time for a mystery, conflict, or tension. It had so much potential. The writing style and ability to describe Alaska was great, but it just fell short. Literally.
Picked up these "wild women" stories at a free little lending library in my neighborhood. They were easy, quick reads. Short stories, so the plot advanced preeeetty quickly, but I still enjoyed reading it!
Great RomCom Audio Book narrated by Rebecca Vaughn Funny, light hearted very engaging. & a great rogue in Treat Devereaux and resistance from Deputy Chief Seana Brogan.
I took advantage of the Audiobook complete series - with books 1 to 4.
