Requested Surrender

Rate this book
She knows he’s dangerous for a woman like her.
He knows she’s perfect for a man like him.

From their first meeting, David Hollan is intrigued because Lacy Pembrook is subconsciously hiding someone. Herself. And David wants to know why. He’s patient at first. Willing to give her space, but when she breaks the rules they’ve set between them, he’s ready to hold her accountable. One way or another, he’s going to find the piece of her that’s yet to be uncovered. And when he does? He intends to own it.

Given an ultimatum after she got caught coloring outsides the lines of their “trial” relationship, Lacy decides to fall in with David’s plans. She’ll cancel her trip and spend her vacation time at his house making up for her transgression. No sweat, right? Wrong. What she doesn’t count on when she gets there is him going full-out Dom on her. She quickly learns why they call him the quiet one. He’s dead sexy, watchful and stern at the best of times, and now that he has her all to himself, each of those things are magnified tenfold.

By the time Lacy realizes that he’s completely subjugated her—by way of an emotional striptease—it’s too late. She’s bared her soul to him, so when he requests her surrender she has no choice but to give it to him. Or does she?

Ok serious book hangover right now! Requested Surrender has me rethinking my whole life perspective! I thought I wanted...no needed a Christian Grey but I think I want/need a David Hollan! (This is merely my opinion do not bash the book or author as trying to compete with FSOG) The characters and situations in this book were soo realistic I could actually see them happening and could identify with the story. Now I must say this Dom is unlike any other Dom I've read about....I think I could find myself loving to be punished by David "oh soo sexy" Hollan!! mm mm mm I read A Date With A Dom (Trust In Me #3.5) prior to reading this and it is a must as that novella sets up the story for Requested Surrender. Riley Murphy you have made me a fan for lyfe (not misspelled) and set a high bar for any future BDSM books I read! Now I HAVE to read the rest of the Trust In Me series!! Highly recommend to anyone who loves reading BDSM/erotica and wants a break from the million and two FSOG knockoffs. Now to teach my other half the "fall for me" trick

This book was provided by the Author through the BDSM group on goodreads in exchange for my honest review

I love bratty subs and Lacy is Bratty with a capital B. David is a Dom that trains other Doms and hasn't had a relationship with a sub in years. David and Lacy are so different that they balance each other out.

This book had a lot of hot sexy scenes, a great story line, and great Chemistry between David and Lacy. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more in the series.

grab the book read enjoy the story of the bratty sub and the Dom personified!!

my Review:

More than a few emotions will be felt as you read this. In A Date With a Dom, I liked Lacy and her bratty behavior in this one not so much. Lacy is a sweet young woman, with a secret that can be the reason for her “personality”. David is a Dom that simply adores His little angel more than He thinks, he also is carrying a bit of “baggage” that may just be His undoing.

So Lacy is under the assumption she can handle David, she enjoys the date night David. All she has to do is keep Him off balance, she will bat her eyes at him and pout and get her way like she is used to doing. Does Lacy know what she is doing?
David thinks to ease Lacy into what He expects of her, allowing her some allowances... bratty behavior, defying orders, ect ect.. When a situation happens it will re arrange His thinking and He goes into full Dom mode.
Both will have to do a lot of soul searching, they will have to uncover painful secrets that will break them down to nothing, the questions is will they deal with it? Or will they let it stay buried and continue the life they live? Or is it a time for a change?
I really wasn’t sure how I was going to rate this until after I was done reading it, Ms Murphy did a awesome job with attention to detail, I loved the characters and how they played in the story. The camaraderie between both the guys and the ladies, showed a strong friendship level. I loved the text messages and the post-it notes (smiles). A few times I felt the need to smack both David and Lacy for the wee bit communication issues. Humans cant read minds, if you want to be understood then you need to speak whats on your mind. If you don’t want someone to do something, if you let them know why not to do it, its a better chance that they wont. (smiles) The scenes were intense in some spots, very hot in some spots, passionate and loving. All around a pretty awesome book, congrats Ms. Murphy on a job well done. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this book!! While A Date with a Dom isn't necessary to read before reading this book,I strongly recommend it. A Date with a Dom is an amazing prelude to Requested Surrender that introduces David and Lacy to the readers.
As the book begins David, the super sexy Dom with trust issues, finds out that his bratty sub has been misleading him. He decides that maybe he's been too lenient with his naughty sub and gives her an ultimatum.

Lacy is really into David, but a deeply imbedded fear of getting hurt forces get to keep David at arms length. However when a very angry David gives her the choice of her annual trip to Dominican or spending the next two weeks with him she decides to take a chance.

As soon as Lacy arrives at David's mansion she realizes that date night David is gone and Dom David plans to break down her barriers and find the real Lacy.

As David breaks through Lacy's bratty exterior to the scared girl underneath Lacy uncovers the root of David's trust issues. Will Lacy accept David's requested surrender or will David's trust issues come between their happily ever after?

This book was given to me by the author through goodreads bdsm group in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book from the author via the BDSM group in exchange for an honest review.

So it took me a while to get into this story, only because I didn't realize that David and Lacy have been around in the earlier stories in the series, so it was a bit confusing for me since I don't know all that happened before this book. But once I got past that, the story really began to flow and it was easy to sit back and enjoy the story as it unfolded. I enjoyed Lacy's bratty side, she wasn't one of the demure, mouse-like submissives who can make a story boring. David on the other hand is one hot alpha male, a man so awesome he trains other Doms. He and Lacy have great chemistry together, and each of the sex scenes gets more hotter as the story goes on. There is some drama in the story concerning Lacy's brother, but that's about all I can say without spoiling the story.

Overall a really enjoyable read, I'll more than likely go back and read the earlier stories in the series.

I have to separate the story from the audiobook. I wouldn't recommend the audiobook at all (it had several glaring and distracting mistakes and there was piano music playing during the entire book that I had to consciously ignore to hear the story), but I enjoyed the Book.

Recommend for people who enjoy BDSM romance/erotica.

I highly recommend reading the first three Riley Murphy’s Trust in Me books, along with the short story Date with a Dom. If you don't, you might be a bit lost in this story.

David and Lacy's story followed along the same lines as the others. I thought Lacy's back story was interesting. This one felt different the the others. While the kink was still there, it wasn't as front and center as the other books. Over all I enjoyed it. Just not the Audio.

How could I forget about this series and the writing of Riley Murphy? So many books about the BDSM relationship bore the pants off me because they have become so repetitive and predictable - this was great tackled the relationship in such a different way without the usual growling commands from a Dom.

Review to come.

4 Stars Requested Surrender is an erotic romance by Riley Murphy and the 4th book in her Trust in Me series.

From the moment David Hollan first sees Lacy Pembrook sitting in the rain, he knows that one day she’ll be his. The sense of loneliness that surrounds her drew him in and made him want to touch the parts of her no one else has. To own the piece of her that has yet to be discovered. So he’s patient and careful with her, all in the name of acclimating her to the D/s lifestyle—even though it goes against his better judgment. But when Lacy gets caught coloring outsides the lines of their "trial" relationship, David’s fully prepared to step up to the spanking horse. Very prepared. No more Mr. Nice Guy. From this moment on, if she wants a relationship with him, she’s going to have to earn it.

From the first night she’d met him, David seemed quiet, charming, and in total control. That’s what attracted her to him. But when he goes full-out Dom on her, giving her an ultimatum—cancel her upcoming trip to the Dominican and commit to a relationship with him … or don’t—she quickly learns why they call him the quiet one.

“If you break my rules, you’ll be punished. If you lie to me, you’ll be disciplined. If you hold back what I consider mine from this point on, I will force you to relinquish it.”

Lacy’s always prided herself on walking through intimate relationships on an even keel. When the ship rocks, she disembarks. Plain and simple. Now, however, the vessel is capsizing and there are no life boats, preservers or rafts. Sink or swim is the phrase that comes to mind. And Lacy chooses to do the latter—agreeing to make up for her transgression by spending the next two weeks with David at his home. Easy-peasy, right?

Wrong. Dead sexy, watchful and stern at the best of times, David’s got Lacy all to himself for the next two weeks. Now that he knows exactly what she needs, he’s determined to give it to her. And by the time she realizes that he's completely subjugated her, it's too late. She's bared her soul to him. So when he requests her surrender what choice does she have but to give it to him ...

"I want to be the guy who slays your dragons. The man who protects you from the bad when it comes, and I always want to be the big part of the good when it happens. I want to be your hero. Your right when things go wrong. Your friend. Your lover. Your Dom. Your everything."

Sigh. Swoon. And where can I get me one of those?! Much like the author’s other books in the series, the eroticism and heat in this story is palpable, and the dialogue witty and entertaining. As always, the complexities of a D/s power exchange dynamic are wonderfully illustrated, depicting how fragile, flawed and intricate this type of relationship can be.

Having Lacy at his home brings back painful memories David doesn’t care to revisit. Feelings of failure steeped in mistrust. Lacy’s thoughtful and mature when it comes to all aspects of her life except for one. Relationships. There’s a reason she behaves this way. And as she willfully disobeys David—again and again—she’d better be prepared to pay the proverbial piper. Requested Surrender is a sexy, erotic and emotional story of desire, self-discovery and love with a satisfying HEA.

Content: graphic language, explicit sex, oral, anal play, toys, bondage, spanking, discipline and exhibitionism.

I also recommend: Reclaimed Surrender (Trust in Me, #1) by Riley Murphy Reluctant Surrender (Trust in Me, #2) by Riley Murphy Required Surrender (Trust in Me, #3) by Riley Murphy A Date with a Dom (Trust in Me, #3.5) by Riley Murphy

This was another awesome novel by Riley Murphy. This is the fourth book in the Surrender series, so I was already invested in the characters. I couldn’t wait to see what Racy Lacy’s story was, but I have to admit to being totally shocked by it! David is the third partner in the very elite BDSM club, and he is not quite what he has been advertised as in the previous novels. I am kind of glad, because a metrosexual dom toting around a lap dog was a little hard to come to terms with!

David turned out to be just what Lacy needed to overcome her fears and face her future and find her “Epic Life”. What I love about Riley is that she gets you in your heart. She tells a story that makes totally brings the characters to life, and makes you WANT them to find their happily ever after. I was so worked up at one point, I had to set my Kindle down and walk away. Now that’s a good story!

I love that this a book about BDSM that isn’t over the top, like whips and chains and St. Andrews crosses and leather masks. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that at all. What I’m saying is, this is a more laid back approach to a D/s relationship that focuses more on Lacy’s submission to David. It isn’t about the trappings of “stuff”, it’s about her feelings. I LOVED that!

If you can’t tell, I loved just about everything about this book, I have to give it five stars! If you are going to read it, you might want to check out the prequel, Date With a Dom, available from Amazon as well. It gives you the first four dates David and Lacy have before Requested Surrender starts. Also, these are NOT typical dates. They are DOM dates!! HOT HOT HOT!!

Wow! This book is written in such a way that I spent most of it just slightly off kilter. I was always just a little bit concerned about how things were going and always anticipating the worse. It was so tense at times that I had to stop and remember to breathe before immersing myself in deep again. It was sizzlingly hot, sexily humorous and all consuming!

Fantastic story, brilliantly told and with enough depth that it would probably be even more enjoyable on a second read. Thank you very much for an excellent book.

Nb Date with a Dom precedes this and I think adds to the whole, but it would still have been a good read on its own. Also the are previous books in the series, which probably add some back story, but I didn't feel the lack. That said I will be adding them to my reading pile, as I love the characters.

Too much talking, not much action!

I had a hard time following this one, even though I read the 5 prequels. It all gets wrapped up in the end.

A copy of this book was provided by the author for an honest review at The Romance Evangelist.

REQUESTED SURRENDER is the fourth book in Riley Murphy’s TRUST IN ME series, and while you don’t need to have read the first three books in the series, you should read A DATE WITH A DOM (Trust in Me #3.5) before you read this book. A DATE WITH A DOM is available at Amazon for 99 cents (free read with Prime), but portions of it can also be read for free at Author Riley Murphy. You could be lost at the beginning of REQUESTED SURRENDER if you do not read this short prequel.

I’ve been enjoying Riley Murphy’s Trust in Me series at Ellora’s Cave for a few years now, but hadn’t seen a new book since early 2013, so I was pleased to learn that she would be self-publishing the next book in the series this year. I’m pleased to say that REQUESTED SURRENDER is just as good as the books which preceded it, and happy that self-publishing has rescued a series I’ve always loved.

David Hollan is one of several Doms who co-own The Carlyn, an exclusive resort with a BDSM flair. We’ve seen in the past two books how he’s been trying to get closer to Lacy Pembrook, a woman he finds equally attractive and frustrating. It seems to David that Lacy is always playing a version of herself, one who never takes anything seriously even to the detriment of her own happiness, and he wants to know why. Because David suspects the real Lacy is the woman who can be the submissive he needs, even as she clearly needs him to keep her safe and happy and loved.

Lacy does appear to be a scatterbrained happy-go-lucky type of woman who runs away when things get difficult. She starts all kinds of plans, but never fully follows through. She’s a gifted artist, but never really did anything with her obvious talent, instead choosing to attend veterinary school to please her father. Yet even with her successfully completed degree, she still hasn’t managed to open her own practice. And even though she and David have been dating seriously for a while, Lacy still hasn’t let him know that the “Jo” she still spends time with in her house is actually “Joe” the hunky contractor with whom Lacy had briefly toyed before David came into her life. Now the revelation about Joe has finally pushed David into confronting Lacy with a plan to show her how she needs him in her life to provide structure and guidance, and help her embrace her true submissive self.

Although I was happy to return to the Trust In Me series, I’ll admit I was as all over the place as much as Lacy was, at least at first. REQUESTED SURRENDER began right as David’s discovered Lacy’s major lie of omission and moved forward immediately into what David did to keep Lacy from running away when he confronted her about it. Even as David and Lacy grew closer in their new D/s relationship, it became clear that neither one of them was quite ready to commit to another person, thanks to their individual past experiences with people who had betrayed them. David’s issue with trust stemmed from the only other woman he’d ever loved, and how her addictions had ultimately forced him to kick her out. Her ability to constantly mislead led him to be overzealous in his protectiveness of Lacy, which has then goaded Lacy into deliberately defying him at every turn. Lacy’s problems were more deeply hidden, and even I had no idea what could be causing her to throw her happiness away with both hands even as she acknowledged how important David was to her.

It wasn’t until all of Lacy’s past history was revealed in the face of David’s confrontation with those who hurt her that REQUESTED SURRENDER finally came together for me. Only then did I truly understand what made Lacy tick and how David’s patience was the key to happiness for both of them. Their romance was a long time coming in this series, and its satisfying ending bodes well for book 5, REPUTED SURRENDER. Its hero, Michael Kavanaugh, has been waiting for his own true love since the very first book in the series, when he attempted to come between a married couple trying to find their way back to each other. I can’t wait to read his story next.

Can I just say it? I will because I can. I am kind of completely over the lead female in so many of these BDSM books having ridiculous trust issues. I expected Lacy to have some kind of severe trauma in her childhood to justify her unreal level of immaturity and lack of trust in David. But no. It's not even that traumatic. Is it terrible? Yes. Are her parents absolute assholes? Is her brother a jerk? Yes. Does all of that equal something would justify Lacy's ridiculousness? No. Not even a little bit.

Now, having not read the previous three books, I feel like maybe I missed some key part of the book because honestly, David isn't much better. His issues with his ex, Elaina? Um, kind of lame. Maybe there is more to it mentioned in previous books but for what I read in this book? Lacy needs to calm the hell down. Slow your crazy train, lady.

I also have found that almost every BDSM book I read are all copies of Fifty Shades of Gray. Maybe that also is following a script line that everyone else does, but they are all similar. Except this one is a little different because some of her "discipline" is basically him giving her orgasms. I don't know about you, but I would purposely do things wrong if that's the kind of discipline or punishment I'd receive. Sign me up and let me knock everything off this table just to get a double header. But we get the reluctant sub, the eager Dom, then she has trust issues, he gets angry and makes her leave, she tries to run away but oh god she loves him after all, and they make up. Blah. It's the same and it's so unfortunate. I have read other BDSM books that don't follow this prescription and they are great. So great that you almost want to figure out how you can find a secret room in your basement or something.

While this book was certainly entertaining and the sex scenes were great (Are nipple clamps worth it? I don't know how anyone could say, "sign me up for those!" and really mean it.), and it'll be hard to put down because you do root for them, damn it all. I will say, David's habit of leaving trails of post-it notes with sexy clues and instructions is kind of hot. I mean, I'm saying the next time they are on sale I might pick up some.

I was given this book by Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock, for an honest review.

following on from the short introduction, A Date With A Dom, this tells Lacy and David's story in more detail.

I'm having difficulty writing this review, and its soooooooooo frustrating, as I CANNOT for the life of me, figure out why it just didn't do it for me!!

The story is good, the plot is good, the characters are good, and all the secondary characters are too. I just cant put my finger on it!! Lacy does annoy me, greatly, in this book, but that's not enough for my to give it the 3/5, normally. She is very indecisive at the beginning, and going into a Dom/sub relationship like that is really not a good idea. The sex scenes are well written, and do flow along with the story, getting sexier as time goes on. the twist to Lacy's tale with her brother was one I saw coming, but not THAT way.

I'm sorry I cant be more specific, it really is hard to write a neither/nor review. maybe if I read some of the earlier books in this series, I might get more a feel of the writer, and what they are trying to get across. I dunno. some other reviews rave about this, i just cant see it.

I recently listened to this book on Audible.com
Here is my review:

"Hot! Hot! Hot!"

Where does Requested Surrender rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of my favorites. I love Riley Murphy's writing, and Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross's narration is flawless as usual.

Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved both the main characters David and Lacy.

Have you listened to any of Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have listened to all of Kai and Wen's performances and each one is better than the last. They have truly spoiled me. Their level of execution is one to be reckoned with. They are true storytellers and always narrate with so much emotion. It's hard not to feel as if you're part of the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I did.

Any additional comments?
I was not a fan of BDSM at all until I started reading Riley Murphy's books. Her writing is so beautiful and I am completely hooked on her books. Ms. Murphy's stories as well as Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross's performances make a perfect combination. Super hot!

I've been given this book as a free read by the author for an honest review...

This story is and well written, about a young lady Lucy, just dipping her toes into the BDSM life style, trying to convince an experience Dom..David that she's been a slave and has experience. They agree at first to one night liaisons to "get to know" each other over an 8 week period, but David soon puts a stop to this and has her move in with him for 2 weeks 24/7.
The book is dotted with humour, which I found enjoyable and is an easy read to lose yourself in. I did find it a bit boring in the middle and I did find the airport scene at the end very corny, but saying that it is.a nice read, and it's nice to see the developing relationship between the two and how David take ownership of Lucy. I loved the use of the post it notes...I'll look at post it notes in a different light from now on. I also wish it was so easy to condition some to orgasm.

The sex scenes and BDSM scenes are very hot and very visual...inspiring ;)

I would read this again and will read more by this author

Well, they always say that you need to watch out for the quiet ones and they were dead right.

Picking up from A Date With A Dom (book #3.5) which sets the scene perfectly for this, book #4, in the Trust In Me series.

David, known as The Quiet Dom, doesn't allow women into his home. He's always immaculately dressed and super alpha, even when it may seems that he's not.

Lacy is lost, she's "a wanderer" as David calls her. For some reason, she's not true to herself, she has no direction in life, except to run when things are difficult. She has no faith, no trust and it all stems from a secret that she's hiding.

Could David be the Dom to give her direction? To find herself? Or will his past come between them?

I really enjoyed this book. The relationship between David and Lacy is intense and heart warming.
As with all the books in this fabulous series, it's well written and the characters are well thought out. They draw you in and you can't help but invest in their story.

An enjoyable, quick read.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

If you haven’t read Date with a Dom, I would read that first, it helps give you a little background to this book. David and Lacy end up spending two weeks together and they both learn so much in those two weeks. I just loved Lacy’s quirkiness and I will never look at Post-its the same way again.

Characters: I loved both Lacy and David and felt like I was right there with them in the book.

Sex: hot and steamy

Religious: NO

Would I recommend to others: yes

More than one book in the series: yes

Genre: Erotic

Would I read more by this author: yes

Should have liked this story more but found myself skimming pages and not connecting with the H/h.
Murphy is a good artist, I've read her other stories and enjoyed them, but the tale here was lacking and I'm not sure why. The H was certainly dominant in his words and actions but at the same time he was a stunted little boy over a former relationship that was more a plot point then a real road block. The h annoyed me with her thoughts and actions displaying that young adult attitude which in a grown woman is tedious. The sex was plentiful but clinical and read at times like an instructor manual.
Still, there are some moments especially comical fun - Phil, the dog, the girls gab fest, the guys gab fest. And I got misty eyed at the end when the HEA kicked in.

David in the beginning is hard on Lacey and comes across as a possessive jerk sometimes. As time goes gone and David and Lacey start to try and figure out what they mean to each other, it becomes clear why David acted the way he did in the beginning. Lacey sees how her friend are in their relationships and thinks a that she will never have what they have. Her family and Davids past are things that are what make decisions hard for each of them. As they try to get past them a situation happens and brings everything to light and end up helping each of them to look inside at themselves. David and Lacey need each other in ways neither one realizes until it is almost to late.

This was a pretty good read. There were certain parts that seemed to drag on a bit for me, but I did really like the characters. David seems very intense, and even though him keeping a secret when he wanted Lacy to air out her dirty laundry became a little irritating, it all worked out great in the end. I am definitely glad that I read Date with a Dom first though, because it really did help shed a little light on their relationship and how they are with each other.

I have to say that on the whole I loved this. The tension between the H and h is stretched tight throughout, with the Dom, David, keeping his wannabe sub, Lacy, deliciously off-balance, as, in this book and the prequel 'A Date with a Dom', he slowly exerts his dominance, testing her and working to understand her, with the issues in their past keeping the storyline interesting.

Requested Surrender by Riley Murphy was another great read by the author. I thought that David and Lacy's story was a good and interesting one to read. They decide on a trial relationship, but quickly things change. David quickly shows her full blown Dom. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by Riley Murphy.

I could not connect to David. To me he came across as an egoist.I also did not care for him insisting that Lacy be honest with him and tell him all her secrets but it did not apply to him. In some ways he was like a little lost boy.

This one wasn't for me. I'm not sure what happened but I think I have to start from the beginning with this series. The heroine is not my favorite and the hero seemed pretty vanilla. I'm a huge fan of R.M. so I will give this book a chance once I reread the series.
