He proved himself, took control of his life, and became stronger than he ever thought possible. So why is everything falling apart? Literally.
With the help of allies old and new, Auric thwarted Salvo’s plan and narrowly avoided cataclysm. But in the wake of that confrontation, something went very, very wrong.
Now everywhere Auric turns he sees that his home, his world, and even the System itself are coming apart at the seams. Entropic gateborn roam the wilds unchecked while rogue storms and freak anomalies spring up seemingly at random. And worse, there’s rumors of something coming in the distance. Something that arrives without warning and leaves only the shattered remnants of reality in its wake.
Auric achieved the power he’s always dreamed of, but with Salvo gone, there’s no one left to stand beside him. To figure out why the System’s unraveling. To fight against the oncoming chaos. If he’s going to survive, he’ll have to delve deeper into the inner workings of the System than anyone ever has before—right back to where it all began.
Auric Cain found his chance, and if he’s lucky, he might live to regret it.

Paragon of Shadow is the second book in this series, and I'm not sure if the way it ends means there's another one coming along or not. If there is, I'll read it, but if there isn't, that's ok too, it ends well. Interesting second book, and it's really more of the same really, closing rifts, fighting invasions, and so on. It's fairly well written though, so it makes for a pretty good story. If you liked the first one, you should like this one just as well.
With so much happening, the plot goes deep, but the action continues galore as we see the fight for the survival of Earth. The twists in this book come hard and fast with a surprising regularity, but this does make for an entertaining read. Looks like there will be a big gap between this and the follow-up book, which is a shame as the series was building up momentum.
Didn’t like this one as much as the first one, and felt like a lot of the system details that I loved from the first book were less involved this time around. I liked the world building concepts that were brought in though. Definitely gonna stick around any further books in the series, but I thought this book felt a little more rushed compared to the first one.
A fun sequel full of action and forward momentum. The naming scheme could use work more because the book is not exactly centered over their titles but the happenings of the world. That goes for both so far but otherwise an awesome read.
