Jooheon is a slave driver, but a fun slave driver. He’s got such an intense goal, but I respect his drive to get it done. I can’t wait to see just how powerful he gets with this new map relic in the next volume.
Ça me fait même rire parfois.
This is the second instalment in the Tomb Raider King volumes, and after heavily comparing the first book to Solo Leveling, I went into this one curious to see whether it would continue down that path or if it will finally branch out into its own thing.
While it still carries the same vibes and overall aura as Solo Leveling, this volume does begin to divert into its own thing... slightly. Yes, we still have the dungeons (or rather, tombs), monsters (aka gods bound to relics), and the rule that you must clear the tomb before you’re allowed to leave. In essence, these are still very much red dungeons under a different name.
Where this volume differs most is in plot motivation. Seo Joo-Heon is driven almost entirely by revenge and by exploiting his future knowledge, deliberately dragging in the major players who will eventually monopolise relics and power. Sung Jin-Woo, by comparison, starts his journey driven by sheer survival, which then evolves into a personal exploration of how far he can push himself and his power.
My biggest issue remains the lack of stakes. Joo-Heon is too cocky. Not once does he feel like he’s in genuine danger. He never breaks a sweat because he already knows the odds and effortlessly counters whatever is thrown at him. As a result, there’s no real sense of imminent threat, and without that, the tension just doesn’t land.
In other words, this is a silly goofy time compared to the Solo Levelling series.
Should I stop comparing this series to Solo Leveling? Honestly... nope! I don’t think I will. In my opinion, Solo Leveling paved the way for this series to gain popularity in the first place, and the parallels are simply too strong to ignore.
That said, I'll give credit where it’s due: the art style is visually appealing, and the writing has been adapted well for English readers. The pacing flows smoothly, and it’s an easy, enjoyable read (even if it doesn’t always feel particularly original.)
I’ll likely continue the series, but more out of curiosity than investment, hoping future volumes push further away from its inspiration and raise the stakes along the way!
I'm getting bored of this it's a good thing I got this from the library. I might read more or maybe not. But if you like this series you might as read more this is just my opinion. But if you would like to read a similar series try solo leveling it's awesome.
Power from Relics, relics from tombs, and the relics all have to do with world mythology? And a team forming to collect them all like Indiana Jones? Oh I am so locked in now!
The second volume delivers more of the same. There is a fun Egyptian themed tomb along with lots of chases and action sequences—the highlight of which is battling an undead army. The artwork and design elements are fairly strong. The writing is weaker. While the ideas remain fine, the execution is jagged. There is no tension at all because our protagonist is OP and the magical laws are constantly in flux. It will establish a fact (tombs are not out yet; relics are disposable) and then show examples of how that doesn’t make sense (dozens of relics available, everyone we met is already a user, also JK you just repair relics). Jooheon is a boisterous alphahole; he treats everyone as pawns for his goals despite hating his former boss doing just that. If you focus on the capers and dogfights you will have a good time, if you can’t turn off the brain it can be a bit of a struggle. * _*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_* Summary: Jooheon uses his artifacts to gain money at Las Vegas casinos before the auction until “Queen of Bankruptcy” Irene Holton approaches him spreading her wave of misfortune. Irene wishes to rid herself of the bound artifact. Meanwhile Jooheon uses her to eliminate competitors and purchase the Tree of Eternity. He then confronts a few underlings before Chairman Kwon triggers the Entombment with his powers where multiple Deity-class relics are revealed. Thanks to interference by the Crow, Jooheon changes fate and closes the realm quickly but truth has been revealed to the world. Then Jooheon targets a relic repairer to help round out his raider team.

Overall: 5/5 Characters: 5/5 Development: 4.5/5 Relatability/Connection: 4.5/5 Setting: 5/5 Art: 5/5 Plot and Themes: 5/5 Did I like this book? yes Would I recommend this book? definitely Review: I read until chapter 197 I'm not sure if that's in this book but it was super good but it left me on a cliff hanger sort of so that's annoying (i think because not all chapters have been released). but i highly recommend you read this.
I really liked the cunning side of the ML in this story. All the characters were exceptionally evil which made it even more entertaining and the unexpected turn of events was great. I really think this manhwa should be renamed as "The evil deeds of the tomb raider scammer" you'll understand once you read it! Though some scenes were quite repetitive, it was made up by the unique personalities of the characters in this story.
