Preston: I’m Mr. Serious, the guy they call “all work and no play.” So of course my grandfather’s sadistic will has put me in charge of fun at the family’s wedding resort. I have just a few weeks to come up with an all-ages activities program for the resort’s guests—or lose my family’s land forever. Meanwhile, the clock’s ticking at my finance firm, where I’m up for a huge promotion—if I can prove I’m a team player.
Worse, I have to work with the reigning queen of fun, Natalie Archer. If there’s a party, Natalie’s there, and she’s the one dancing on the tables. She doesn’t think much of my suits, ties, cufflinks, and spreadsheets, and I don’t think much of her fun-first–safety-last attitude. But for some reason, I can’t stop thinking about her gorgeous curves, wild curly hair, or sparkling smile. I’m a man who values self-control—and I’m running low.
Natalie launches Operation Fun to help me loosen up and win the promotion I’ve been chasing. Now we’re spending days and nights together—and learning that some activities are a lot of fun for both of us. But as our deadline approaches and our collaboration heats up, Natalie and I find ourselves asking a big Opposites may attract, but can they live happily ever after?
A spicy, grumpy-sunshine, fish-out-of-water, billionaire, opposites attract, workplace relationship standalone romantic comedy set in the beloved small town of Rush Creek.
USA Today bestselling author Serena Bell writes contemporary romance with heat, heart, and humor. A former journalist, Serena has always believed that everyone has an amazing story to tell if you listen carefully, and you can often find her scribbling in her tiny garret office, mainlining chocolate and bringing to life the tales in her head.
Serena’s books have earned many honors, including an RT Reviewers’ Choice Award, Apple Books Best Book of the Month, and Amazon Best Book of the Year for Romance.
When not writing, Serena loves to spend time with her college-sweetheart husband and two hilarious kiddos—all of whom are incredibly tolerant not just of Serena’s imaginary friends but also of how often she changes her hobbies and how passionately she embraces the new ones. These days, it’s stand-up paddle boarding, board-gaming, meditation, and long walks with good friends.
I mean it was cute and fluffy but that's all it was, cute and fluffy, nothing else.
𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨: Natalie Archer is the girl who is always “the fun one.” She’s the person you go to for a good time, and her family doesn’t really take her seriously because they’re all doctors, lawyers, or accountants (something fancy like that) and she isn’t. Because of this, her mom doesn't really think she has succeeded in life. At the start of the book she’s in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, and one day she surprises him at a coffee shop to discover he’s been having an emotional affair with a colleague. She breaks it off with him and moves out. Now Natalie finds herself homeless and single, but she has just gotten a job as their entertainment manager at the local resort.
Things get a little crazy because, similar to an adult version of The Inheritance Games, the family who owns the Hot Springs Eternal Resort, has a crazy deceased grandfather who in his will stated that "in order to claim your inheritance, you need to complete X and Y". It’s grumpy Preston Hott's turn to receive his "envelope" and he learns his challenge is to create a highly rated entertainment program at the resort. This could not come at a more inopportune time since he is just about to land the largest merger of his carrier which will guarantee his promotion.
On Natalies first day, Preston FIRES HER but is overruled by his sister (who actually manages the resort) and says the two will need to work together as Natalie has the experience Preston needs to succeed. So now the two have no choice BUT to work together and it makes you wonder if Natalie can add a little fun to Preston's life and if he will be able to overcome their differences and remove that stick-up-his-ass attitude.
Preston is a bit of a dick, he is super prideful and has this need to prove himself or more prove to his grandfather that he will succeed at life in NY when his grandfather always told him he would amount to nothing. He’s determined to make it big in New York, and now that he’s been sent back to his hometown, he’s questioning who he really is.
The more time he spends with Natalie, the more he realises that everything he’s been working toward might not align with what he truly wants. However, his stubborn nature makes it difficult to admit his grandfather could be right about a few things, and he struggles to accept that a bit of love, fun, and letting loose now and then might not be so bad after all.
I feel like this book fits that “perfect for a movie” vibe, where they fall for each other because they "spend so much time together", but you don’t see enough of that development, you see this quick montage of them hanging out, and in the book are just told, "they have hung out and spent time together". I wanted a bit more substance in watching them grow close.
and 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤 𝙏𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨: ▷ Brings Her Drinks/Food ▷ Suit Daddy ▷ Loves their Smile/Laugh ▷ Rolled Sleeves/Forearms ▷ Spicy/Steamy Water Scene ▷ Cages her with his Arms ▷ Dirty Talk ▷ Sex in a public place
Overall this was a typical "Hallmark Movie" vibe book and if you are looking for that light and fluffy just relaxing read this is perfect for you!
Thank you to Netgalley, Jelsba Media Group and Serena Bell for the gifted copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own
soft DNF I honestly don't know how to feel about this one. I feel like the premise was there at the start and then sort of just... faded. I was bored. So unfortunately this is a soft DNF. Thank you to Netgalley for the arc.
I loved Serena Bell's Wilder Adventures series and was so excited for this spin off series. Unfortunately though for me, it has been a bit of a mixed bag. I loved the first installment but the second and then this third book I didn't enjoy as much. Some Like It Hott is about a fun, energetic and strong woman named Hannah who has just landed her dream job as events coordinator at Hott Springs. She also found out her boyfriend was cheating on her and so is newly single. The lead male Preston is a busy, uptight member of the Hott family who works in finance in New York. Due to stipulations in a will, he has to come home and help Hannah create a brilliant Summer Festival with amazing events...not exactly his idea of fun. But as they work together, they understand each other more, bring out the best in each other and get some intense chemistry too.
I liked the characters, although I did find they were lacking compared to Serena's Wilder characters. I wonder if this series is just becoming a bit too samey for me now and that is why I am not as interested. I didn't feel the connection between the two leads. Chemistry? Yes. But deep connection and love? Sadly not. I also sadly found the story to be rather repetitive and a little obvious and boring.
I really wanted to love this but sadly this series isn't living up to the high expectations I had after the Wilder Series (which I highly recommend). Sadly I am unsure I will be continuing this series anymore.
Please note that I was given this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Preston is all work and no play, with a focus and determination to rule the New York finance scene. Unfortunately for him, the will his grandpa set out has other plans. He's forced to take time off to return to his small home town, and work with endlessly fun party-girl Natalie, in hopes to save his family land. Instead, she's made it her mission to introduce him to fun again and break him out of his grumpy mood once and for all.

This is the third book in the Hott brothers series, and I haven't read the other two, so I went in blind! It was sweeter and more heartfelt than I expected, which made it such an easy read to sink into. I loved Natalie's brazen confidence and seeing her find joy in every interaction, including the awkward moments she didn't let settle. Seeing her stand up to Preston and push back against him was entertaining from both perspectives, and I loved how we instantly saw his reaction to a challenge.
The external characters were fun and engaging, and you could feel the difference between the warmth and community of Rush Creek and the stark coldness of Preston's life prior. I also genuinely appreciated the lack of a third act breakup, as it didn't fit the characters at all. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and will definitely go back and read the other 2 to round it out!

Thank you, NetGalley and Jelsba Media Group, for the digital ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So this the third book in this series and I read this whole in one sitting if that tells you anything about it this book it was funny and cute at the same time and the connection that these two characters had for each other was so cute. I was like oh my gosh would you guys finally get together for good and not stop playing around with each other feelings like we all know that you want to be more than friend with each other. I like the ending that he did and show her how he really feels about her.
REVIEW cw: brief mentions of emotional cheating, pre-eclampsia When 'Mr. Serious' investment banker Preston Hott is forced to be in charge of creating an all-ages activity program to the family’s wedding resort, he's less than impressed. Not only is he woefully ill-equipped for the role, but he's also trying to prove he's worthy of a huge promotion at his Manhattan finance company. But, having to work with Natalie Archer, the reigning queen of fun, adds a level of temptation Preston isn't sure how to avoid. Especially when she launches Operation Fun, a plan designed to help him find his joy. In doing so, he finds something even more elusive.
Serena Bell writes simmering chemistry so well, and this opposites attract romance was no exception. I wasn't sure about Preston early on, which just goes to show how well-written his character was, because you really go on a journey with him. At first he's surly, and even a teensy bit mean. But as the story developed, it was clear to see just how much his grandfather's words had affected him growing up. I loved that Preston felt able to confide in Natalie and once again was so angry with the Hott's grandfather. My heart broke for Preston when he explained the expectation he'd put on himself, both as a child, and then to prove himself to his granddad. Natalie was an interesting character. It took me a little while to connect with her, but my heart broke for her when we discovered the reason she was so adamant about not returning to live with her parents. Their hero-worshipping of her ex was awful. But I LOVED it when she finally stood up to her meddlesome mother, and I appreciated how Preston also had Natalie’s back with her mother. This was one of Serena's more spicy reads (no complaints here), so the chemistry sizzled throughout, and I loved their banter, particularly early on. I loved the growing tension between Preston and Natalie in the rage room and their frank revelations. As for chapters 22 and 23? Phew! I loved the idea of them both driving themselves to distraction as they attempted not to think about the other. Meanwhile, the Jell-O wrestling was hilarious! I loved the snark and simmering tension. But I loved how Preston just couldn't stay away, and chapter 34 was EVERYTHING. Even though the following chapter made me cry, I was soon swooning again when he organised the surprise before the festival. My heart ached for Natalie whenever it seemed like Preston didn't care. But I'm so glad he started to show her his real feelings. The intimacy was hot(t) and felt like a natural progression of their growing feelings for each other, even when they were reluctant to voice them. I loved Preston's aftercare. While this could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading both the Wilder Adventures and the previous books in this series. Hanna was as awesome as ever, and I loved catching up with Rachel and Brody. As for their pitch on the boat, I cackled laughing at Preston's reaction. It was fun to catch up with Quinn, Shane, and the Wilders, as well as their spouses. I loved Natalie’s conversation with Sonya in chapter 14, and how it consequently sowed the seeds perfectly for what was inevitably to happen. Shane and Quinn were hilarious as the knowing siblings, having experienced the same scenarios, even though Preston spectacularly put his foot in his mouth. Still, I'm so glad Sonya was there for Natalie. Meanwhile, the Hott siblings chat about what their grandfather had planned for Rhys and Tucker left me intrigued. I appreciated that there was minimal miscommunication, and loved Preston's ingenuity when it came to the merger issue. As for his grand gesture? It was absolutely perfect! This was another fun small-town romance by Serena Bell.

Favourite Quotes:
Natalie makes a sound that might be a choked laugh, and I turn my glare on her. Surprisingly, she doesn’t wither under it. She raises her eyebrows at me instead—a challenge. And God help me, I’ve never been able to resist a challenge.
All I want is to keep this as simple as possible. Occupy my room. Dispatch the stupid will. Get the hell out of dodge. No complications. No distractions. And definitely, absolutely, no temptations. And instead, here she is, making everything hard. Not like that. But yeah, definitely like that.
She’s not remotely intimidated by me. Which is foreign and…also intriguing.
He’s given me a hard time since the first moment we crossed paths, and I want to push back. That’s the only reason I hold up the clit-and-G-spot vibrator and say, “Oh, I have one like this back at the lodge!”
“I’m a big fan of mutual pleasure.” Beside me, Natalie makes a sound. I don’t think it’s a laugh, but it couldn’t have been anything else, right?
“This is how it starts,” she says, and I think she’s holding back a smile. “You start out wanting to understand what makes them tick.” “I don’t—” She grins and waves a hand. “It’s okay,” she says. “You tell yourself whatever you need to.”
"There’s plenty of room for both of us.” I’m not sure that’s true. There might not be enough room in the world for the two of us and my body’s reaction to him.
As we walk back to the lodge, still side by side, I can’t help feeling like I’ve made two mistakes tonight. Kissing her. And stopping.
When did I start to crave her joy? How can I stop? What if I don’t want to stop?
I guess I want to be her fun for a while.
He didn’t know he was fun, and that makes it so, so much better. Because he’s fun just for me.
He pumps his fist victoriously, grinning ear to ear, one blue flag still hanging from his belt. His joy is little-boyish, contagious. It makes me absurdly happy. This is the same guy who dryly wished me luck when I told him we’d figure out how he could have fun again.
“It’s real, and it was special to me. It wasn’t following an impulse or scratching an itch. I did what I did—kissed you, touched you—because I like you. A lot. Because I wanted to be closer to you.”
“You’re good at being the life of the party,” I say because all of a sudden I can see what’s been right in front of my eyes all this time. “But it’s never your party. You have friends, but you don’t have—” “I don’t have people,” she says. You have me, I want to say.
“Oh, shut your flappy trap,” Nan says. “Mansplainer.”
“This is a good times thing and a bad times thing. It’s a fun thing and a serious thing.”
This is a FIVE ALARM FIRE!!! Talk about Hott!! Preston is... *chefs kiss* Ok he's hot (with two Ts) but also rigid and controlled, the worst kind of finance dude. All numbers, no fun. Natalie is a free spirit, brings joy to every moment, and excells at making life happier. Watching these two have to work together was SO MUCH FUN!!!
Grumpy Preston Hott, a NYC investment banker, is pulled back to Rush Creek by a wacky provision of his grandfather's will that forces him to plan a festival at the family resort. Too bad there's already an activities director, sunshiny Natalie, who's a recently dumped disappointment to her high-powered family.
The two are rivals for a hot second (yes, puns aplenty in this series!) before they determine they must partner up for both their benefit. Add a natural hot spring, and soon these coworkers act on their blazing chemistry.
I loved the character growth in this story, where both main characters learn they don't have to prove themselves to anyone, and it's okay to have fun.
This book can be read as a standalone, but you'll want to read the rest to find out how everyone overcomes their grandfather's will...or do they?
A cute and fun romance with a classic grumpy-sunshine pairing. Preston and Natalie have great banter, and their opposites-attract dynamic makes for an entertaining read. The setting at Hott Springs resort adds to the charm, and the story moves along at a good pace.
However, the plot is very predictable, and it didn’t feel particularly unique. While the characters are likable, I didn’t feel deeply connected to their romance. It’s an enjoyable, light read but not one that really stands out.
If you’re looking for a sweet and easy romance, this is a solid choice. Just don’t expect too many surprises!
A good bounce back and more in line with the first book of the series for me. Yes, it's mostly low conflict and fluffy, but I could use some of that. And I honestly enjoyed that they were so open and communicative, that their actual issues laid more in self discovery than in a conflict between them. A fun, quick read; I continue to prefer this series to Wilder.
“Ooh Preston, I knew you’d be fun! … I love a rigid, type A MMC paired with a spontaneous and exuberant FMC who is willing to change the rules for a good time. The chemistry between them was 🔥🔥” —Kim’s Reading Nook
When two people are Seemingly so different is forever even a possibility? Preston has definitely met his match in perky Natalie but he’s going to make it work. The authors writing is flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in single POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
SOME LIKE IT HOTT is the third instalment in Serena Bell’s contemporary, adult HOTT SPRINGS ETERNAL erotic, romance series focusing on the HOTT siblings: Quinn, Shane, Preston, Tucker, Rhys, and their sister Hanna (Wilder at Last 5/ Wilder Adventures)-a spin off from the author’s WILDER ADVENTURES series. This is New York investor Preston Hott, and Natalie Archer’s story line.
SOME BACKGROUND: The HOTT Springs Eternal series focuses in the aftermath of the death of the Hott family patriarch. Grandfather Fox Hott has a number of stipulations and guidelines if the siblings are to inherit the family fortune. Each sibling is required to honor their late grandfather’s request if their sister Hanna is to keep the HOTT Springs resort in Rush Creek. If the orders of the will are not adhered to, the land and everything on it will be sold to an international mining company.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Preston and Natalie) SOME LIKE IT HOTT follows Natalie Archer when she is hired as the activities coordinator for Hott Springs Eternal Lodge but from the outset she is paired with Preston Hott, a financial investor who wants nothing to do with his grandfather’s will. A caveat in the will forces all of the Hott siblings to partake in the build-up of the Hott Spring Resort, and Preston is tasked with developing an all-ages activities program and festival alongside our story line heroine. As our couple ‘endure’ a trial of sorts partaking in all of the potential activities, Preston finds himself drawn to a woman he should not want, as his time at Hott Springs Lodge draws to an end.
The world building follows Natalie and Preston as they navigate the activities and events planned for Hott Springs Lodge. Natalie continues to struggle with a recent betrayal, as Preston battles the ghosts from his past, ghosts he has yet to reveal to his siblings and friends.
The relationship between Natalie and Preston begins as grumpy/sunshine . Preston doesn’t want or need someone else telling him what to do but Preston has no idea about setting up activities at the lodge, something Natalie is overly excited to do. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, we are reintroduced to the Hott siblings and some of the significant others: Preston’s PA Franklin: Natalie’s ex Lloyd; as well as her bitter and controlling mother.
SOME LIKE IT HOTT is a story of family and friendships, power and control. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are stubborn and determined.
This cute romcom is the third book in the Hott Springs Eternal series and has a grumpy billionaire meets sunshine trope. I can always count on Serena Bell for a light, fun read and this one was all that and more! Preston is a serious, high-powered man in finance, living in New York City, when he gets the letter from his grandfather’s will that assigns him the task to create a fun activities program for his sister Hannah’s wedding resort in Rush Creek, Oregon. When he gets there, he meets Natalie who Hannah has just hired to be the activity director. They have six weeks to design activities that will be tested at the Rush Creek summer festival. If they are a success, Preston will be able to Return to New York.
Preston is worried because he has a big merger deal he is working on and if it goes through, he could clinch a big promotion at his firm. But he has to go to Rush Creek and he’s not happy about it so he’s very grumpy. Natalie was living with her boyfriend until she realizes he has fallen for someone else. Her parents want her to get a job in the medical field but she hates working at a desk. She is super excited for her new job and it’s really funny when she meets Preston and they start brainstorming ideas for their program. He comes up with ideas that sound more like team building activities from the eighties while Natalie suggests they need to think bigger with more upscale options. Natalie suspects that he doesn’t know how to have fun. She wants to use Wild Adventures (from the Wild Adventure Series) for horse rides, paddleboarding, rock climbing and boat trips. They decide to come up with ten ideas to try out at a family party. The party is a hoot because we catch up with characters from her other books when they try a paint splatter room, pop up rage room (they sledgehammer things) and Jell-O wrestling.
They fall for each other but they begin to wonder what will happen when the festival is over and Preston heads back to New York. I don’t think it’s necessary to read the previous books in the Hott Springs series but they are all a good time, so consider them and the Wilder Adventure Series if you haven’t read them yet. This is my favorite book of the series (so far) and it looks like Rhys, a high-powered divorce lawyer, will get his story next. He has to do some wedding planning for his part of the will which sounds like a blast and I'm looking forward to that! Thanks to the author for the ARC. Full review to come at All About Romance closer to the release date.
Grumpy Preston Hott is the third Hott brother who must carry out the wishes of his grandfather’s will to save the family resort/wedding venue. His task is to be in charge of fun. He needs to come up with an all-ages activity program or be the one to cause his family to lose their land. Natalie Archer has just been hired at the resort to develop the program, and now the two must work together to come up with a plan. She is all fun, dancing on the table, whereas Preston is spreadsheets and cufflinks. Total opposites, these two butt heads and cannot seem to get along. Natalie pushes Preston out of his comfort zone, and he starts to see the queen of fun they are spending more time together and suddenly, the things they hated about each other seem insignificant, and both are lusting after each other. They begin to wonder if being such opposites could lead to a happily ever after.
Natalie was such a free spirit that she got Preston to break out of his shell and enjoy himself. They both learn they don’t have to prove their worth to anyone and that people should accept them for who they are. There are many times that these two opposites create hilarious situations, making me laugh out loud. Whether they were jello wrestling, Natalie dancing on a desk, or Preston finding his inner child, these two were excellently matched, even if they didn’t know it yet. Once you get past the tension and bickering, these two respect and care for each other.
I love Serena’s world-building. She creates a fun world where we can catch up with characters from previous books while being able to jump into her writing this book and still enjoy ourselves. I loved seeing what the Hott and Wilder siblings were up to and enjoyed all the fun they had with planning the different activities.
This book is a great story about finding where you belong and your value while containing a happy love story between two opposites. If you like a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, workplace romance, this book is for you!
Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
read if you like: opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, workplace
Some Like It Hott, and I like this book in the series best!
I’ve read all of Serena Bell’s books, but this one…I must say, it’s got it all. Yes, there’s a Grump and a Fun, but there’s also vulnerability and heart, which reveals itself in unsuspecting places.
SLIH (Some Like It Hott) is the continuation of the Hott family series, where the curmudgeon grandfather passes on and the grandchildren are obligated to follow his posthumous instructions so that they can retain the farm-turned-wedding venue for their sister. Ms. Bell has these alpha guys doing some rather ridiculous things for the family, and ultimately, love.
This story involves Preston, the eldest grandson and the one most responsible. Attempting to climb the corporate ladder and on the brink of winning the plumb position, he is called back to the family venue to fulfill his grandfather’s bidding—to act as the Activities Director of the venue. Far out of his comfort zone, Preston lashes out at Natalie, the woman hired for the job. Instead of realizing the advantage he would have by enlisting her aid, he pushes her away until reality slaps him in the head, and he finds working together is FAR BETTER than being apart.
The growth of Preston’s patience and tolerance is well described, but it is his self-awareness that I enjoyed most. Questioning the status quo, for example, where he would normally settle for what he knows instead of following where things may lead. His self discovery and creativity help him win everything he really wants.
Natalie is the other major character in the book. She comes from a highly successful family where her desire to help people through activity is not encouraged or congratulated. Her parents and siblings are uber-achievers, and Natalie’s goals are put aside to what other things she should do and be. Yes, this is a discovery for Natalie, and how she confronts her insecurities, to become her better self.
I liked the depth of these characters and how they ultimately defined themselves. Thank you, Ms. Bell, for another fun read. I’m looking forward to Rhys’ story next!
Preston and Natalie are a classic opposites-attract type of couple. She is an activities/party planner, and he is a high-stress finance guy. She loves living in a smaller city, and he’s the king of his NYC world. Yet, as is the case with all of the Hott brothers, Preston must find a way to work in a field he wants nothing to do with and with a woman he can’t help falling in love with.
This couple touched me, even before they came together. As much as Preston portrays himself as ice cold and untouchable, it’s obvious that isn’t true, especially with his sister and niece. Soon that soft spot inside spreads to include Natalie. Once he gives her a chance, his respect for her and what she does quickly grows. Preston doesn’t like the idea that anyone, be it Natalie’s ex or her family, would not appreciate the amazing person she is. Natalie sees the real Preston even while he tries to hide that side of himself.
As has become obvious with this series, there is a formula for what is happening. It’s not a bad thing, and even the characters point it out. Each brother falls in the same yet different way. They get in their heads and mess things up, but true love conquers all. Isn’t that what a romance book should be about?
While this is a fun and fast read that gave me some warm fuzzies, some things took me out of the story a few times. One was the movie references that didn’t make sense for people of the character’s ages. There was a lot of When Harry Met Sally talk, among some other movies, for people who seem to be in their late 20s or early 30s. Having kids in this age group, these things are glaring to me when they occur. It’s fine for a certain demographic when reading a book, but a younger audience may find it dated and gasp may not even understand the reference.

Those who love grumpy x sunshine tropes, with a story like the fluffy version of ‘The Inheritance Games’ then this book would be a perfect choice for your romantic read this February! Some Like it Hott is the third book of the Hott Springs Eternal series with Preston Hott as the main lead, the grumpy serious but Hot Hott brothers *100% pun intended*
His meticulously planned career is now at risk as he was put in a position to save his family resort and the only way to do it is to bring fun for the resort’s guests. Worse, he has to work together with Natalie Archer, the queen of fun–who is the total opposite of him, and unfortunate for him that their chemistry seems to hit the level of hot 🔥
Time is ticking and the decision needs to be made, whether he follows his heart to be with Natalie or accept the promotion in his office and leave her, and the big question: could they finally find their happy-ever-after?
I think in terms of plot, I’d say that this one is very obvious, the classic grump fell in love with the sunshine, the opposite attract, and so on. But what makes them special is the bond between the brothers and in-laws, I love how the characters from the previous books come so we could experience their interaction with each other–also with the easter eggs of the next book in line!
Character-wise, I am very intrigued with Natalie’s life–how she loves to add fun to everybody’s life and how it became her passion yet her family doesn't consider her job ‘stable’ as her career. It is how she finally realizes her worth and how she shines from that–and of course, loves how Preston supports her through her development. I really adore their support with each other tho, I think it is what makes them special.
One hell of fluffy workplace romance, grumpy x sunshine, and small-town romance, if any of those ticked your requirements for your next read then this book is your perfect choice!
I have so much love for this series--and Preston and Natalie's story was everything I hoped for and more!
(May my opinion have been *slightly* influenced by several well-placed beloved movie quotes/references? Perhaps. But it's still a fabulous read either way.)
Natalie and Preston are an opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine gem of a story with plenty of heat--a perfect choice to read in the cold as heck weather we're stuck in right now.
I loved that Natalie was able to help Preston find his fun again--their dynamic was so adorable!--but that ultimately he came to his own decision about the direction he wanted his life to go, no intervention needed. Natalie too was a bit directionless at the beginning of the story, but she also figured herself out by the end. They each supported each other's journey, but ultimately took the necessary steps for themselves in the end and it makes their HEA all the stronger for it.
I have to admit, I was a teensy bit concerned when I saw the cover for this one and saw that the MCs were holding a baseball bat and a sledgehammer--I had a moment of, wait, was this really a home reno book and I missed it?--but now that I've read it I'm kind of jealous of what they got to do with them. I might need to up my own fun quota this year... #goals
Some Like It Hott is of course connected to the other Hott Springs Eternal books (2 more brothers to have their lives "ruined" by their grandfather's will!), and for fans of the Wilders, they make appearances here too. It *could* absolutely work as a standalone if you want--the will and its implications are explained sufficiently here--but do yourself a favor and read them all! ;)
Did I mention there's 2 brothers left to go? :)
Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I love the Rush Creek world and all the books in it.
Natalie is known as the "fun" girl, and after being cheated on by her ex and treated like trash, she's done with people not taking her seriously and determined for her life to be considered valid. She's excited to start at Hott Springs Eternal as their new activities coordinator and start her plan, she isn't even going to be fazed by the owner's brother suddenly working with her and trying to fire her.
Preston is so close to finally proving his grandfather wrong and making it to the top of the finance world so the last thing he needs is to be sent back home to make an activities program so his sister doesn't lose her business (oh granddad's devious will!). No one would describe Preston as fun so to be told he has to entertain people...thankfully he has a professional....one who isn't intimidated by him and makes him want to smile and teases him and he can't stop imagining dancing topless...
They both need to figure out what THEY want in life, and if they're just living it for other people or themselves?
Thank you for characters who communicate like normal human beings, Serena. And for once again writing characters that have such great chemistry! I read this so quickly and the tension and yearning between Natalie and Preston definitely kept me glued to the page.
And omg Preston is SO sweet (iykyk)! His development was particularly enjoyable. And as a couple, they became a real partnership which I loved!
I can't wait for the next installment in the series and for the chaos their granddad and Arthur will cause *mwahaha*!
Thank you to NetGalley and Jelsba Media Group for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
Read for: opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, finance bro MMC, divorcee MMC, no third-act breakup!, insta-lust (despite the dislike)
This book is like a perfect rom-com smoothie—equal parts sugar, spice, and a splash of emotional depth you didn’t see coming. Our hero is Mr. Spreadsheet, a man who breaks into hives at the mere mention of “team-building exercise.” He’s up for a major promotion at his finance firm, but first, he’s been sentenced by his grandfather’s will to create a fun activities program at the family’s wedding resort. Enter Natalie Archer, a human glitter bomb with a megawatt smile and the organizational chaos of a cat in a bounce house. She’s everything he doesn’t want—loud, spontaneous, wildly unserious—and absolutely everything he can’t stop thinking about. Cue fireworks, poolside tension, and more than one scene where a clipboard gets forgotten in favor of, um… other pressing matters. What I loved most is how the book never leans too heavily into clichés, but instead plays with them in the most delightful way. Natalie is all sunshine and spontaneity, but she’s not a manic pixie dream girl—she’s smart, grounded, and has her own vulnerable moments. And our uptight finance guy? Underneath all the rules and routines, he’s a softie just waiting to be unraveled. Their chemistry is sizzling, their banter is razor-sharp, and the slow burn romance is the kind that makes you want to yell “JUST KISS ALREADY” while also never wanting it to end. There’s something so satisfying about watching two total opposites crash into each other and slowly (and then not-so-slowly) realize they’re exactly what the other needs. This book is like a warm hug and a steamy kiss all in one. Undoubtedly fun, but it also sneaks in a lot of heart, too. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
While this is the third book in a series with an ongoing plot regarding a grandfather's Will, Some Like It Hott can be read as a standalone. I wasn't lost and was able to jump right in.
Preston Hott is given a task within the Statutes of Will with rules and a time limit that made for an interesting plot and certainly brought him and Natalie, the female MC, together in interesting ways. I loved all of the, sometimes, outlandish activities that were mentioned, but it also made me want to visit this resort and try them out.
Natalie Archer has just started as the activities coordinator, at Preston's sister’s resort and spa, and part of Preston's task involves coordinating activities. He spends quite a bit of with Natalie and their forced proximity brings about a working friendship that leads to more.
At first Preston's isn't happy about being there, he'd rather be in New York working at his full time job than at his sister's resort planning activities for guests, but the longer he's there he begins to loosen up and actually enjoy his time, especially with the lovely and sunshiny Natalie.
As for me, who is just joining the cast of characters, I got to know the Hott family and more about what brought the previous couples together, without diving too much into the past. It was the perfect blend of colorful characters while the main ones were falling for one another. Basically, this book is fun, an easy read, with the perfect amount of steam.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing for the advanced copy, all opinions are my own.
In Some Like It Hott, Preston, the oldest and most buttoned up of Hanna's brothers, is the one on the hot seat when he receives his dreaded letter from his grandfather's will. He will be tasked with setting up a highly rated fun and activities program for Hanna's wedding resort.
Preston has a high powered job at a NYC finance firm, works 60+ hours a week, and lost his marriage over his workaholic ways. He also has a deal ready to close that will finally catapult him into upper management so he has a lot to lose if he takes time off now.
When Preston arrives at the resort, Hanna insists he work with Natalie, her newly hired activities manager. Natalie is very much an opposite to Preston. She loves to have fun and bring joy to others but comes from an overachieving family who didn't respect her strengths and just dumped her BF because she learned that he saw her as strictly a good time girl, not someone to lean on.
Although they clash initially, as they learn more about each other, the respect grows and the sparks are undeniable. Preston sees how strong, capable and inventive Natalie is, while she helps him rediscover the joy he lost as the oldest child, always watching out for his younger siblings. Planning an activities program was the perfect excuse for Preston to get outside of his comfort zone and let go of old hurts. I really loved this opposites attract romance. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Preston Hott has a problem. To be fair, he has several problems, but foremost is his PITA grandfather and his Will that stipulates the Hott brothers each complete a task at the family spa and resort OR the property will be sold and their sister will lose her inheritance.
One by one the brothers receive their task. So far, so good, all the brothers have complied, but Preston is next and this is a really bad time. He's just about to win a promotion that will launch his career into the successful stratosphere he feels he needs to be complete. This is a minor setback, as far as he is concerned. Get in, complete the task, get out.
Natalie begins her job at Hott Springs Eternal, looking for a fresh start. She's saddled with the uptight Preston, both of them forced to work together or the property gets sold. When the bubbly event coordinator meets the unmovable brother, sparks fly. He's only in town for a short while, just long enough to satisfy the Will's requirements. Neither is expecting anything to last, neither wants to get their heart broken. Like the song says, "if you try sometimes, well, you just might find, you get what you need".
Book #3 from Serena Bell in the Hott Springs Eternal series is full of love and laughs. Bringing the brothers back together for another adventure that they surely did not expect. Can't get enough of Bell's writing, she never disappoints. Highly recommend this book. Trust me, you'll get what you need.
“This is a good times thing and a bad times thing. It’s a fun thing and a serious thing. It’s everything. I loved the things you are, Natalie”
This is a grumpy x sunshine romance between Mr. Not-Equipped-For-Fun Preston and Ms. All-About-The-Fun Natalie. Preston has to complete this task his grandfather set out for his part of will, by creating an all-ages activities program for the Rusk Creek Resort. However, he has a promotion to keep track of when he suddenly has a partner assigned to complete the task. Natalie, who’s hired to be the activities coordinator has been assigned to the job and now they have to come together to make it come into fruition.
The formula for this romance was a bit generic but I loved the elements of found family, saving family legacy, and proving ourselves wrong. Natalie and Preston couldn’t be anymore opposites on the surface, however, are a lot similar that they think. I loved their interactions and especially Natalie because she was herself to the core and didn’t really let anyone tell her otherwise. I think it helped Preston a lot while they were partners on this project. It was also fun discovering what they like to do together and how supportive they are of each other. I do think that if you really liked the Dreamland Billionaire series by Lauren Asher, you will love this book!
Thank you to the Jelsba Media group and NetGalley this E – ARC .
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5) Steam: 🔥🔥🔥☄️ (0-5) I bump up for public-ish places/outdoor spaces.
What I’m Starry-Eyed Over: 🤩 All the feels, but more on the lighthearted side, steamy romcom perfection! My favorite escape! 🤩 Instant unwanted attraction. 🤩 Both Preston Hott & Natalie Archer recently had an ex cheat/give up on them. 🤩 Opposites attract, workplace type romance—it’s all about fun, and it’s so much fun! 🤩 Laugh-out-loud funny forced proximity, but also thin walls—my favorite! 🤩 I just love how they have to try out all the ideas they are brainstorming for possible activities to make available at the resort. I honestly cannot pick a favorite. But I have a teaser quote: “Lesson Learned: It’s all fun and games until someone gets poked in the thigh by Preston Hott’s big, hard c***.” 🤩 “Wedding Launch” themed toys on the boat with Rachel and Brody! So hilarious! If you haven’t met the Wilder’s, I highly recommend their series: Wilder Adventures. Brody and Rachel’s Story is Walk on the Wilder Side, but I love all of them. 🤩 Soaking in the hot springs tubs, yesssss! That’s what I’m talking about! And a scrumptious shower scene—you’re spoiling me Serena Bell! So much steamy hot fun! 🤩 Uncle Preston with his niece Eloise is so sweet & swoony.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About: 💫 Nothing at all. I’m so looking forward to Rhys and Eden’s story in Running Hott. I don’t usually read sneak peeks at the end of a book, but I just had to read this one!
Preston Hott is up for big promotion at work....he hopes to finally be a partner at the law firm and the current client he is trying to land could just be the answer. Of course right in the middle of everything is when Arthur Weggers, his late grandfather's attorney shows up to let Preston know it's his turn to do his part to help save the family's land. It seems Preston is going to be in charge of developing some fun activities at Hot Spring Eternal and he will need to work with Natalie Archer, the queen of fun.
Natalie realizes that Preston is wound a little too tight and needs to learn how to let loose so she comes up with Operation Fun to help. As Natalie and Preston spend more time together, Preston starts to see there are other things in life except for just work. Eventually these opposites start to develop feelings but because of things from Preston's past, he is a little reluctant. It will take a lot of soul searching but these two will finally find their happy ever after.
I just adored this steamy, opposites attract romance. Preston was such a stiff, all work and no play type of guy. Natalie was the fun loving, always looking for a party type of girl. Together these two just worked. I loved the ride Preston and Natalie went on to find their happy ending. Now I can't wait for Rhys' story next!
Some like it Hott is the 3rd book in the “Hott Springs Eternal” series by Serena Bell. I have never read the author or the series so it can definitely be read standalone.
This story follows one of the Hott siblings as they try and complete their outstanding task in their grandfather’s will. In order to keep the family property and the spa retreat that sits on it, the siblings have to complete certain tasks or the property will be sold to a mining company.
Preston Hott moved away from home after college. He is a super successful banking executive in New York and after a disastrous short marriage, he hasn’t been back home
He gets summoned by his grandfathers lawyer to complete his designated activity and it couldn’t be the worse time. Right in the middle of a deal that will guarantee him the promotion he’s been looking for.
Natalie Archer is excited to start her new job as the Hott Springs Eternal Activities Manager. After catching her longtime boyfriend in a very unwork like embrace with a coworker, she’s determined to move on and have some fun while she’s at it.
Natalie is paired with Preston and the deadline is looming. How are two complete opposites going to come together and create a successful program in such a short period of time. Especially when one of them hasn’t even considered the word fun in years.
As Natalie learns to bring the fun out of Preston, Helen realizes that maybe what he’s been missing all along is some fun in his life.
This was a cute, quick read. There are some spicy scenes which I loved and this was definitely a grumpy/sunshine vibe! This is my first by this author but won’t be my last. I’d like to catch up on this series and the one before that leads into this one! This is a 4 star read for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
What happens when a fun loving woman crosses paths with a serious grump? Fireworks! Natalie Archer is the reigning queen of fun. She’s just accepted a position at Hott Springs Eternal is a new activities coordinator. This is her dream job, but when she’s forced to work with Preston Hott in order for him to comply with the stipulations of his grandfather’s will, she finds it’s more than she’s bargained for.
Much like the first book in the series, this is a fun, angst free novel with lots of spice. I appreciate that Ms. Bell creates well round characters who openly communicate with each other. Let’s face it the old miscommunication trope is tired.
I loved watching Natalie and Preston especially let their guards down. The way their relationship unfolded was lovely. Preston has a major character growth as he begins to discover what truly matters in his life. I appreciate that he and Natalie really talked about their concerns regarding his return to NY. They bring out the best in each other. The grand gesture was pretty epic, I will say.
Having read the excerpt for Rhys’s book next, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for him.
