Candace Bowen Early scores another historical winner with this masterful time travel romance. Her love for the medieval English culture and telling a breathtaking love story is evident in Spur of the Moment. It didn't take long for this book to become one I simply did not want to put down!

This epic romance unfolds quickly as young Bronwyn Chase, a famous author of our time, suddenly finds herself thrown back into 12th Century England. She meets a young knight named Euric and is immedately feels drawn to him, inexplicably so, and it's obvious he shares an attraction to her. Unfortunately, the evil sorceress Jaenelle has cast a spell on Euric that makes him her virtual slave. Euric's mother, a mystic by the name of Gwyllion, is desperate to free her son from the spell and knows that only Bronwyn can do so.

The reasons for this are what drive the story in such a compelling way. As a reader, I longed for Bronwyn and Euric to be free to love one another, and felt the angst with each obstacle that kept them apart. Every character, including the demented Jaenelle, was fleshed out and realistic. Bronwyn's painful past made her a very sympathetic character, but the strength she exhitbited kept her from being a woman you could pity. Former foster child Bronwyn found a wonderful mother figure in Gwyllion, and I came to love her as much as Bronwyn did.

There's not much in the way of criticism I can offer here, except that I never got a solid grasp on WHY Bronwyn and Euric had such a strong bond from the beginning. I think one has to suspend disbelief early in this story to accept that aspect. Otherwise, Spur of the Moment is a story that still lingers in my mind, and is sure to become a timeless romance for anyone who reads it. I'm anxious to read the next installent in this saga and I'd recommend this book to any romance lovers, particularly fans of time travel/paranormal romance. Grab your copy today!

Bronwyn Chase published her first romance novel at the age of 17. Now, five years later, she is famous, wealthy, and drifting through life. She travels to New York in order to do an interview and while there, she keeps seeing the same, strange woman, who finally appears in her hotel room that night and presents her with a silver spur. When she spins the rowel, she is transported to 12th century Cornwall, near Tintagel, where she learns that it is her destiny to love a knight named Euric, who is under the spell of a dark wicce named Jaenelle, the daughter of the Baron de Wrotham. Can Bronwyn defeat Jaenelle? Will she and Euric be allowed to be together?

Let me start out by saying - I don’t like romances, as a general rule. I don’t like the ridiculous things that authors to do create “dynamic tension” between their characters, and I don’t like the “sameness” that so many romance novels maintain. That said - I LOVED “Spur of the Moment.” The interactions were realistic (yes, I believe in soul mates - I have met mine, and I know exactly how Bronwyn felt during this book), and I loved the way that the author developed their personalities and moved the plot. I was a bit surprised – at about the 60% mark a climax hit that I had expected to be at the end of the book and I had no idea where she would go from there, but as it turned out, the continuation of the story was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended for fans of romantic stories, time-travel, English history and good story-telling.

Romance and magic intertwine in Candace Bowen Early’s SPUR OF THE MOMENT.

When best-selling historical romance author Bronwyn Chase meets a mysterious mystic from the past, Browyn’s life changes on the spin of a knight’s spur. She is transported to 12th-century Cornwall, where she discovers she’s fated to love a knight named Euric. There’s one problem. He’s under a curse from a dark witch. Bronwyn must call upon her own mystical birthright to find a way to free him, or else.

SPUR OF THE MOMENT shows how soul mates can withstand the fates, distance, and time. The plot is well-developed and has a beautiful circularity to it. The hints at the historical along with our own modern age add to this fantasy romance. The mysticism and magic intrigue and delight in their elements of old traditions and religions. The characters can be beautiful, stubborn, unyielding, and magical. I enjoyed the fast-paced and fated romance between Bronwyn and Euric, although I wish we could’ve savored their romance a bit more. Early does a fantastic job at making the reader ache along with Bronwyn when everything changes for her again. The first part of the novel is a bit too fast at times, but the second half is perfect.

For a beautiful romance with a touch of the historical and fantasy read SPUR OF THE MOMENT by Candace Bowen Early. It’ll sweep you away to a magical world with the spin of a spur and the flash of a moment.

FANTASTIC!!! I am so glad I gave this book a chance. I'm not a huge historical romance reader, preferring to stick with contemporary mystery/romances, but this one paid off big time!
Bronwyn Chase is a woman that doesn't fit in anywhere. As an author, she writes about a time of Knights and Kings, never imagining it's a time and place she belongs in.
Euric is a man bewitched by one of the devil’s own...He knows who he should be with and who he truly loves, but the spell he is under puts his true love in danger.
The story is wonderfully told, beautifully written and devastatingly poignant to the point that the reader is sadden and depressed along with Bronwyn. Luckily, the reader is joyous and happy along with her as well. I truly felt saddened by some of the turns of events that Bronwyn and Euric had to go through. As with any good romance, you continue reading knowing it would all turn out, but you just can't wait for that happy ending...and I wasn't disappointed!
This is a beautiful love story that saddened me when it ended. I wanted to continue reading about Bronwyn and Euric. There is supposed to be a sequel, and I can't wait to read it! Well done Candace!!

This book not only looks fantastic it is! This is a unique time travel love story that will stick with you. I was awed by the powerful love that Bronwyn and Euric share and the connection they have. I honestly with I could hear my husbands thoughts in my head. That would be so cool! This story is filled with adventure twisted together with many up and downs and the unexpected. This book leaves you with a smile on your face. I found the moment very moving when Bronwyn meets her mother. This story does contain a extremely evil mixed with a hint of crazy villainess. I look forward to Ms. Early's next book as I am sure it will be as extraordinary as this one.
This does contain a handful of swear words and only reference to sex no detail.

Spur of the Moment is a wonderful mix of romance, vengeance, true love, loyalty, friendship, magic and mystery.

Modern 21st century America contrasts starkly with 12th century Cornwall UK, as disillusioned author Bronwyn Chase struggles to save her soul mate, Euric, from the clutches of a vengeful and possessive Jaenelle. Bronwyn must find a way to unlock her own, unsuspected, mystical powers in order to fight Jaenelle, but not even she can resist the final, time-travelling pull of a magical silver spur…

Spur of the Moment is a beautifully crafted novel, full of emotion and atmosphere. Candace Bowen Early is fulfilling her promise as a fine writer. Highly recommended.

Candace Bowen Early did a great job of capturing the reader in this wonderful book. I fell in love with her character, Bronwyn, right away. I was enthralled with the mysticism and romance in this book. I really enjoyed the time travel aspect, and was mortified when Bronwyn thought she had lost all chance of ever returning to Euric in the past. What a great book.

Great read! Especially for anyone that likes paranormal romance. The book had lots of twists and turns. It took place in two different centuries. It easily combined History, Paranormal, Romance, and Mystery. It was full of intrigue and pleasure. I would recommend this book!

This is a great love story. If you love historical romance with a bit of fantasy then spur of the moment is just right up your ally. I just love the way she made a love story mixed in with time travel. And how their love tested time. So just pick up the book you won’t be disapointed.

REVIEW:
I love when authors create a character that is a writer themselves, Spur of the Moment follows a Historical Romance author who gets transported to the 12th century and finds out she actually is from that time. Though the plot was fascinating it pains me to say I just couldn’t get into the pace or characters. It missed a beat for me but please remember this is my opinion and all readers should give this book a chance. I’m changing my review a bit to get in better detail why I couldn’t get into this book.

Bronwyn Chase is a best selling author who grew up without ever knowing her real parents. Now I do have to say the beginning of the novel really pulled me into the book when Early introduced Bronwyn. There is a scene with Bronwyn dealing with a annoying man on a plan that just cracked me up. Bronwyn discovers she was born in the past, realizing why she never felt she fit in. Then starts her journey in discovering what happened to her mother, why she was sent to another time and what evil is trying to harm her fate.

Likes:
Albert, he’s is such a breath of fresh air type of character. Introduced at the beginning, he is pretty much Bronwyn’s conscience. His job as her chauffer is quickly turned into a very trusted friendship that I felt her character needed. He helped her get out of a funk and guided her on her new path.

Euric is a knight whom is Bronwyn’s destined love. He is smart and really determined to protect his mother and Bronwyn at all cost. He even sacrifices himself to the villain of this story to keep everyone safe. What I call a major hero.

Bronwyn, of course was a thrill, I loved her sprit and how she really grew up through her experiences in the novel. In the beginning she was pretty timid and allowed people to walk all over her, in the end she really took charge of her life.

Dislikes:
Unfortunately the romance was extremely rushed for my liking. I understand the whole destined part and it was more than just insta-love, it was pretty much smack in the face, they are a couple. I like more development in relationship, getting to know each other and why they are so destined to be together. But their romance still had its moments that I enjoyed especially the end.

Repetition was something that caught my eye a lot. The character keep discussing about how to fight the evil Jaenelle. Jaenelle is trying to destroy Bronwyn’s happiness with Euric and uses dark magic to get what she wants. Pretty much the action didn’t start till about half way through and then started to get a lot more interesting. It just took a little to long to get the point across.

Jaenelle, the villain of Spur of the Moment was a bit lacking to me, though don’t get me wrong this girl was pretty insane, but that was about it. I didn’t feel any impact until the end, she was more of a bully who had an evil laugh but couldn’t scare the pants off a child. I was pretty bummed about this because I really wanted to see Bronwyn kick some serious butt and have a good villain to counteract her.

Overall it was a great start and had a really interesting end that I enjoyed but the middle way too drawn out until it reached the climax. Nonetheless I look forward to more novels by Candace Early and remember this is just my opinion and reviews can differ from reviewer to reviewer.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is an adult series that contains minor sexual content for adults and some swear words. Fans of authors Stacey Kennedy and Stephanie Julian will enjoy Candace Earlys Spur of the Moment.

*****************

Bronwyn Chase is a popular historical romance writer whose books have consistently made the New York Times bestseller list. Women of various ages love her work, but all the attention Bronwyn receives does little more than overwhelm her. When the story begins, Bronwyn is a young woman who doesn't really live life so much as lets it happen. She's on a plane to New York City, even though she hates planes and would rather stay at home to write, largely due to the demands of her controlling agent.

Throughout her rough childhood, writing was the only thing that brought her peace. All those stories about the medieval world and knights in shining armor came so naturally to her that she often felt more like she belonged in that time period than the 21st century...

Well, as it turns out, that trip to New York City that Bronwyn dreaded so much ends up being exactly what she needed. There she learns that she DOES belong in the 12th century.

First she meets Albert, a chauffeur who quickly becomes one of her closest friends. When she agrees to explore the town with him, she and Albert notice that a beautiful woman wearing a dress from the middle ages keeps popping up everywhere they go and eerily watching from afar, but Albert and Brownyn ignore and soon forget about her as the night goes on.

As soon as Bronwyn is alone, the woman asks a favor of Brownyn that will forever change her life: Can you save my son by winning his heart? However, there's a major problem. Beside having to go back to the 12th century, she has to win the heart of a man who is being bewitched by a sick, powerful wicce...in less than four days.

When it comes to stories that take place in more than one timeline and country and it's well done, I always want to take my hat off to the writer. Candace Bowen Early must've put so much research and time into getting all the facts straight within this story. Of course, having not done the research myself, I can't be certain if the facts are straight, but it's at least straight enough to never knock me out of the story.

I loved when Bronwyn's modern day English threw the people in the 12th century off. The moments of miscommunication and confusion made me smile. I also really liked how Early foreshadowed so many plot points that would prove to be important later. That spur that got Bronwyn to the 12th century? Don't forget it. The power of belief? Don't forget it.

Because I haven't really been a big fan of romance novels since middle school, I'm not sure how much values this holds coming from me, but at some points I felt the romance was too much, almost like I was being force fed how much Bronwyn and Euric loved each other. But I think that was the only problem I really had with the story, and it's a subjective problem anyway.

Early tied the story up really well, so when I read that there would be a sequal - Wicked Embers - I was wondering how that could work. Then I learned that it would be told from the point of view of a minor character introduced near the end of this book. I love when authors do that. It makes the story's world seem so much larger, and I know I'm excited to give the second book a try.

I'm just going to say it how it is: I reeeeeeeeeeeeally enjoyed this book; probably more so than the sequel.

I instantly liked Bronwyn and thought her character was very well developed. I also felt that the author cared very much for her too.
There was room in the story for Bronwyn to grow; we see how she deals with her past circumstances and also, how she deals with an agent who manipulates and uses her for her own gain. Her realisations, her strengths and her weaknesses.

Her voice was easy to accept and follow which kept the pages turning.

Thinking about it, I pretty much liked all the characters; which were well developed and interesting- especially Albert. You definitely need someone like him around!
Even the characters who you were not meant to like were well written. Janelle was perfect as a power mad, crazy bitch! Some the confrontations between her and Bronwyn were wonderfully charged and exciting! (C'mon Bronwyn -Kick her evil little butt!)

What really stood out for me with this story, is how the author dealt with Bronwyn's going back in time; I found myself giggling at points - there were some genuinely humorous moments; especially concerning language and understanding form both parties!

As many of you have already read, I am not a huge romance fan, but the story between Bronwyn and Euric was wonderful to watch unfurl. Sometimes, romantic scenes can make me cringe as I feel they are overdone and "movie" style. "Cheesy" But I felt the author was very careful with the love and romance element. (which, pleasantly, resulted in my keeping lunch down! Hehe!) The author was very good at leading the reader down a road with description and leaving it just at the right stage for the reader to fill in the blanks. The interactions, thoughts and feelings were well described and believable.

There came a point in which the story felt like it had finished... With 40% of the story left to go; I did wonder how the author was going to continue.. But I wasn't disappointed; in fact it was very satisfying and answered a lot of my questions about her future with Euric.

All this was set in the beautiful, historic and mystic Tinatgel in Cornwall. This was a wonderful story to get lost in.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Best-selling author Bronwyn Chase never quite fit in with the 21st century. On a publicity trip to New York City, a mysterious woman claiming to be a mystic from Bronwyn’s past gives her a silver knights spur. Asked to save Euric, a man she never knew existed, Bronwyn finds herself transported to 12th-century Cornwall. Landing at the feet of an entranced Euric, she discovers the instant connection she feels to him comes from a midsummer rite gone horribly awry on the eve of her birth. Forced to face a dark wicce who plans to use Euric for her own nefarious ends, Bronwyn summons her own mystical birthright to free him.

MY TAKE
When I first read Bowen's book "Wicked Embers" I didn't realize there was another book with the character Bronwyn. So I was excited to read this one and learn more about her.

What can I say? A hot knight. Magic. Time travel.

*sigh*

There's nothing like a female character who has always felt like she didn't belong and then discovers why--she's 800 years off. Bronwyn's spent too much of her young life being a victim of her circumstances. Now back in the time period of her birth, she finds it necessary to fight for what she wants (Euric) and even her own life. She'll never make it if she keeps playing the victim and letting other people boss her around.

This book is not as action filled as "Wicked Embers", being more a mind game and a battle of wills with the nemesis. It was fun to get to meet three earlier versions of the characters from W.E. in this book. Now I'm going to have to back and read it again.

Review:

"Spur of the Moment" by Candace C. Bowen was a wonderfully written novel. The character, Bronwyn Chase was indeed a very interesting one being a 'Best-selling author' where I liked her very quickly in this fast read. This was a amazing novel of this writers life here and in the future where you find the plot very enriched in details. You will find this novel with romance, science fiction, historical facts, fantasy, paranormal, vengeance, magic, friendship, true love, loyalty and adventure all rolled together giving us a excellent read. This author's imagination is definitely unbelievable. The characters are all very well developed, realistic and captivating helping to deliver a well written script to the reader. We find this writer...Bronwyn Chase who had been raised in many different foster homes...now, she is on her way to New York to do an interview. In New York she meets the driver and goes to dinner...then that is when 'some crazy old lady' is following her...why is this? The story will take off from there and this is where I say you must pick up "Spur of the Moment" to find out how this author is give you the where, when, why and who of it all in the great read. Among this Bronwyn will find out much about her life she never knew. I found "Spur of the Moment" not only a great read that held my interest until the end but also I found this novel very beautifully well crafted and I would recommend this novel as a excellent read.

This book tells of a young, famous author who never feels like she fits in in her world. She writes historical romance novels and finds those time periods she studies fascinating. She is taken away to the past where she discovers that she was born. Shortly after her birth she was sent forward in time and is now returning to her rightful place. She feels torn between those things she has left behind (mostly chocolate and warm showers) and this life she lives so naturally. As she discovers her own mystical abilities and the love she's been yearning for, she is faced with the knowledge of the evil spell that has captured the man she loves. I enjoyed the concept that this character was sent ahead in time and has returned to her rightful place. Although the plot was interesting, the pacing was difficult when the characters are repetitively discussing what is to come as they know the fight against evil approaches. The climax of the book is about 60% of the way through and although the things that follow are interesting, the space between this climax and the ending is a bit drawn out. The very ending of the book could also have included more detail, although I am sure there are sequels coming in the future. Overall I enjoyed this book, but was not captivated. I give it 3.5 stars.

I enjoyed this novel, like a fine wine. It was aged correctly, skipping from the present to the past, taking me on a journey through time with cahracters that I felt compelled to follow.
In the beginning, we meet the Heroine (Bronwyn) who's a Historical Romance writer, in present time. She is given a spur from another time, one that conjures images of wiccans and Beltane ceremonies, knights and chamber pots. She spins the spur and is cast into a past, which she soon figures out, is where she is actually from.
Meeting the Hero (Euric) is another treat. I felt pulled to him, as the plight that kept him at an arm's length from our Heroine, was one of black magic.
Yet, we all know that "True Love" prevails.
When the two marry, and plot to face their nemesis, (Janelle) the major sparks fly.
I won't give spoilers, but I will say, this book is worth a look.
I also enjoyed that the romantic scenes were often, hinted, and not shown with full force sex scenes. It was refreshing. I enjoy a good scene that ignites the imagination with a fiesty, healthy romp, too~but this author chose to show less is more. She was cautious with her private scenes. And, for me, it worked.
Good job, Candace Bowen Early. I'll look for more of your work.

I love the premise of this story, historical romance with a touch of mysticism and a dash of intrigue. A woman transported back into time to save the one she was destined to be with from an evil adversary. The author, Candace Bowen Early, takes her readers through a fast paced travel through time in this mystical romance with well developed characters and a captivating plot. The author’s attention to detail to atmosphere and mood, establishes the flow necessary to transport her readers from the 21st century to the 12th and back again.

I found “Spur of the Moment” to be an easy and enjoyable read. As much as I loved this novel (and I did), the only thing that kept me from giving it a five star rating is the “instant connection” between Bronwyn and Euric, given the protagonist’s antagonistic and skeptical nature at the beginning. I personally would have loved to see more of an internal conflict to enhance the external conflict between Bronwyn, Euric and Janelle. Even without that struggle, I found it difficult to put this one down.

Good but it left me unsatisfied. I think this was part of a series maybe I would of liked it more if I had read the others. It was heart wrenching at times but it still was not what it could of been. The story is a good one. It's a wich/wicca thing. I do like those usually but here to much was left out. The emotion factor was not at it's best.
And the scene at the ruins were Janelle (the wicca/demon) tried to kill them all, where she contols Bronwyn by freezing her in place but left her seeing and feeling everything around her [I am sure (would even bet on it) I have read a scene, if not identical to it, it was pretty darn close]
Another rushed ending in the bargain. What ever happened to Albert? Did he give up her manuscript to be published?

AUDIOBOOK: Listen to May 25 2014==2 Stars

Narrator: Janina Edwards...Narrator is not consistant with the voices, I had trouble keeping up with who said what and her male voices were plum bad! There was a lot of details we didn't need and a lot that should of been in this story.

I like the plot line of this book. I thought it was very unique and was interested in reading it. I was slightly disappointed when the development of the characters wasn't as thorough as I like. The book at times seemed rushed, with lots of stuff happening, but not a lot of details. Defiantly pick this book up if you are looking for a quick read.

Disclaimer- I won a copy of both this and the sequel from a giveaway.

That said, this was an interesting read. It took a small section of the book to get really into it, mostly, I think, because it was very straightforward, which I'm not quite so used to. (I might have binged on mysteries and ghost stories before reading this, which probably didn't help.) Once you got over that, it went by quickly and enjoyably.

I loved the heroine from the beginning, though. Curious and practical, and learning not to coast by in life. (She wasn't, I think, so much a doormat as just not all that interested in doing things that were not writing.)

This entertaining fantasy takes the reader through time. Myths, magic and modern times collide when Bronwyn Chase, a young up and coming romance author, meets a mysterious woman. The lady sounds as if she's from one of Bronwyn's Medieval based novels. She spins a tale that even the young author finds hard to believe, but it rings true when Bronwyn is transported in time to the year 1122.

This is a charming fantasy full of magic and mystery. Bronwyn must fight great evil to rescue the man she loves.

I strongly recommend this book for lovers of a true, light, heart warming fantasy.

Merry Meet!

This is such an enchanting story! I believe that is was so enjoyable that I may have to read it again.
Bronwyn is a sweet young author that has an overwhelming shyness. Albert is a wonderful, colorful character that gives stability and love to Bronwyn. Euric is a powerful but amazingly sensitive young man with all the right priorities to capture a girls heart..I love the mix of old and new, magic and God, good and bad...I really enjoy a book that has a definitive end...(especially fitting ones)

A must read

A wonderful, feel-good book with drama, love, thought-provoking events, and some serious madness. That's a strange combination that works so well in the novel of a modern day writer and her knight in shining armor. You will question what drives you in a good way. If you have lost someone who means the world to you, you must read this book for it will give you hope. I shall be watching my fearless hunter kitty more closely from now on, too.
