I fell so deeply and passionately in love. It was the quick kind of love. Where in an instant sparks fly. The connection was so deep. Real. Rare. Raw. My world was turned upside down by one single look. Then my world shattered. I found out the truth. How could I be in love with a monster?
WARNING: This story is raw. It deals with situations not suitable for everyone. Highly recommended for mature adults over the age of eighteen, due to intense subject matter, sexual content, and language.
*BOOK ONE IN THE DISTURBED SERIES*
BOOK TRAILER-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyBql...
Ashley Beale, 30, lives in the beautiful state of Maine with her children. She is an International Bestselling Author of Forgive Me, with over a dozen other titles- and more to come!
Ashley has always had a hidden passion for writing, and a not-so-hidden fixation of telling stories. She followed her dreams by publishing her first novel, Burning Attraction, in July of 2013.
When Ashley isn't writing, you can find her enjoying time with her family and friends- shopping, swimming, going on adventures, traveling, or simply goofing off. There isn't much Ashley won't try at least once, helping create imagination and fun memories!
Ugh. I love dark, but I couldn't even bring myself to get to the dark. Eek! As curious as I am to find out what this is all about, I just cannot get over some things...the heroine being the main reason. Sorry, not for me.
I thought I'd check out this Amazon freebie because it had several great reviews and I like to try out new authors. Sometimes I end up finding a hidden gem. Other times, not so much. Sadly, this book fell into the latter of the two categories.
Having never read any previous works by this author, I didn't know what to expect. I can live with some editing oversights, and even expect it when reading a freebie. However, the amount of grammatical errors in this book was atrocious. Surely the author could have had a friend proofread it or something if the cost of a professional was out of reach. The plethora of mistakes was overwhelming and extremely distracting.
I'm not talking about misplaced commas or a few misspelled words here and there. I'm talking about frequent errors, sometimes multiple errors on a single page! I can't imagine that most of these mistakes wouldn't have been caught by the most basic spelling and grammar check program. For example, their vs. they're, employ vs. employee, etc. Bidet was misspelled as baday. In several spots words were just completely left out, leaving me trying to take a guess at what should have been there to make a complete sentence. I could go on and on.
If you can make it past all that, you'll find a story about a girl with about as much depth as a kiddie pool. Seriously, this girl was quite possibly the dumbest, shallowest, most immature heroine ever! She was supposed to be 18 or so, but had the mentality of a 13 year-old on her best day. I can't think of a single appealing quality that she possessed.
As far as the two main male characters in the story are concerned, their characters were so poorly developed that they felt like complete unknowns, even at the end of the story. Supposedly, she's in love with Blaise, after some rather forward groping at a party where she lays eyes on him for the first time. Next thing you know, she's sleeping with this totally random stranger and professing her love! Give me a break!
Roman is the secretive boss. I think his character was supposed to come off as elusive and sexy. Instead, he just seemed like an inappropriate creeper that would never answer a question. Nope, not appealing, just infuriating!
Add in frequent giggles, insta-love, lukewarm sex scenes and a whole lot of poor decisions, and you've got the gist of this story. The big mystery to me was how this poor girl had managed to survive to this point at all. In comparison, the plot twists and big reveal at the end seemed far more obvious!
The only reason I'm giving this book a second star is because the premise of the story actually had some potential. It was just so poorly executed that it would need a complete rewrite, along with new, appealing characters to be worthwhile. Any mild curiosity I might have regarding how this series will play out is completely overshadowed by my feelings of dread at the prospect of having to read another book that is so poorly written.
I fell so deeply and passionately in love. It was the quick kind of love.
Where in an instant sparks fly. The connection was so deep.
Real. Rare. Raw. My world was turned upside down by one single look.
Then my world shattered. I found out the truth. How could I be in love with a monster?
Liv is in love with Blaise(insta-love), when she lays eyes on him for the first time. Next thing you know, she's lusting after Roman the secretive boss. The dialogue is ridiculous - stilted and forced to the point of nonsense. The heroine is 18, and she talks like a 12 year old. I found her completely unrealistic and annoying. The sex scenes are not bad, but they certainly do not live up to the 5 star level, AT ALL. I have read many that are way better, and much more erotic than this one, with an actual storyline as well.
THis was one huelva of ride! One weird book, not as much as other weird that I love the most but weird enough to rate it with high 5 stars. From the very first chapter I was waiting for hell to break loose. And boy,I wasn't expecting that! This book has bloody cliffhanger and I need,no scratch that,I want a second one! Like yesterday!
**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**
Holy moly this book was freaking awesome! It had me by the tip of my toes and almost biting my nails. This book had so much suspense and mystery and it was riveting!
Liv was a little naive. She had just graduated from high school and was about to start college. She meets Blaise a sexy guy that captivated her the moment she laid eyes on him. Blaise acted like the perfect gentleman and treated her with much respect. Liv instantly fell in love with him because he treated her like a real lady.
Blaise had secrets and his intentions with Liv were not good. He got Liv a job working as a telemarketer at his job and she meets Roman. Roman is a handsome man but he tends to creep Liv out.
Little does Liv know that Roman is supposed to save and protect her. She doesn't know from who or what. She finally realizes that Blaise is not a good man and tries to get away from him.
Things happen, things get out of control and her best friend disappears!!! What happened to Clarissa and what happened to Liv's sister Taryn!!!
So much mystery and suspense. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next installment.
Ashley did a wonderful job with this book. You will not be disappointed if you read it and you will enjoy it very much. If you like reading a mystery novel, then this one is for you!!
I give this first installment of Disturbed 5 freaking stars!!
*I received an ARC of Disturbed in exchange for an honest review* Disturbed was an ok read for me. I enjoyed the writing style but some parts of the book were a bit repetitive and a little slow at times. Liv meets Blaise at a party and I loved Blaise from the moment he entered the story; there’s some mystery to him. Liv and Blaise get close real fast and Blaise offers Liv a job working with Roman. Roman is even sexier and more mysterious than Blaise. Liv’s interview and job is anything buy normal, leaving readers wondering what is really going on with Roman’s company and his connection to Blaise. Clarissa, Liv’s best friend uncovers something about Blaise that makes Liv and Clarissa dig deeper into who Blaise really is, putting them both in danger. The thing that threw me for a loop was that Roman kept saying he was doing what he could to protect Liv and I knew there was chemistry there, but at the end he said he loved her. I had a no way moment, I had no idea where that came from as they spent little to no time together so I'm like how can he say he love her so fast. In all honesty the story wasn’t bad but when I finished it, it just didn’t leave me wanting more.
I received an ARC of this book. **contains some spoiler info, not much**
First off I want to just say, I LOVED it! This book has some hot scenes that take place and as well as scenes that people find offensive (rape) and she has CLEARLY stated this.
The characters:
Liv: she seems like a young and naive. Finds the hot guy who melts her panties and falls in love only to be hurt.
Clarissa: headstrong, knows what she likes, comes from money, best friend.
Roman: wants to change the world but doesn't want to give away his secrets.
Blaise: mysterious, charming, a villainous person in disguise.
All characters and plot was well thought and processed. The book reads in great detail once the plot thickens.
I know a lot of these scenarios play out to be true in the world shes portraying in her book. I have someone close who was done this way in real life, one exception she was also malnourished. Were very lucky to have this person back. So this book hits home for me and i fully understand where her story seems to be going.
I give it 5 stars and I cannot wait for book 2! Thank you for choosing me to be an ARC participant!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I think this series definitely has promise. The book starts off with Liv meeting the man of her dreams. Within the first few chapters they are quickly in a relationship and he is getting her a job at his company.
Liv meets her boss and is instantly creeped out by him. I really liked Roman's character. He is hot, dark, mysterious... everything I love in a male character.
I never connected with Blaise at all. I didn't buy their relationship and never saw what Liv saw in him. There are some "hot" scenes.. but compared to other books well written and pretty tame.
Through the first half I felt Liv was in her head too much. I liked her character more towards the end.
The book got really interesting and suspenseful towards the end. There were twists I did not see coming. I am very interested in reading the second book and seeing where the story goes.
The only problems I had was the length of the book and the errors I found. I think it should have been longer and the story between Liv and Blaise explained more. It would have made the twist more gut-wrenching.
I told myself that I wasn’t getting roped into one more serial, but the description hooked me and pulled me in, and I don’t regret it one bit. Disturbed was fast paced and dark and left me wondering who was really the bad guy until the end. When Liv meets Blaise at a party, she can’t believe someone like him is interested in her. But their attraction moves quickly and she finds herself falling in love. When Blaise helps her find a job at the company he works, a company where he is very vague about his actual role, Liv encounters her new boss, the dark and sexy as sin Roman. The more she becomes enmeshed at work and voices her concerns to her best friend, Clarissa, the more Liv finds herself confused about Blaise, Roman, and what her role is with these men. Liv was a bit naïve for me, and a little YA-heroine for my tastes, but she was more or less accurately portrayed for her age of just having graduated high school. Blaise was sexy and in control. As for their relationship, I have to say that I hate it when characters fall in love too quickly if there is not some traumatic situation bringing them together to expedite the emotions, but I accepted the feelings between Liv and Blaise, chalking it up once again to their age. Throw Roman into the mix and you had a great dynamic that had me wondering where the story was going and breezing through the pages to find out what was going on. Left with a cliffhanger of an ending for all of the characters involved, I will be avidly awaiting Ms. Beale’s next installment of Disturbed.
I was given an ARC of the book by the author in exchange for a review.
The twists and turns in the story and wondering what was going to happen kept me glued to the book. And that bombshell of an epilogue? Holy ****!
Everything put in front of Liv seemed too good to be true - hot guy who becomes her boyfriend almost immediately, a brand new job with barely an interview. I think the biggest thing that I could say bothered me was that Liv didn't think any of it was too good to be true at all. Then again, she is 18 and a recent high school graduate, so maybe I just need to chalk that up to her being young and inexperienced.
There is some sensitive subject matter, as has been made clear in the book's description and other reviews. As a frequent reader, but admittedly not a victim of such a crime, I did not find the attack scene to be overly graphic or offensive. Obviously, readers with sensitivity to such issues may have a different reaction.
My only other complaint, if you could call it that, is that I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings. I realize this is the first book of the series, so some things had to be left open to set up the next book. In any case, I will definitely be checking out book two to find out what happens with everyone, and what the repercussions are from that epilogue!!
Holy crap!!! I LOVED EVERYTHING about this book!!! The only problem is that it was TOO SHORT!!! I was taken from the first chapter and was kept guessing until the very end!! Disturbed Beauty can not get here soon enough!!!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest and thoughtful review.
This book blew my freaking mind! Any reservations you may have about this book, throw them away. It's not what you think, it's so much better! I'm still picking my face off the ground that's been broken into tiny pieces. At first I was like oh my, another love at first sight romance story but oh boy was I wrong! Its more than romance, its romance with suspense, love with hate. Nothing is as it seems and honestly the title of the novel is perfect for this story! I started off loving Blaise, I mean after all he comes from out of nowhere on a white horse in shining freaking armor sweeping her off her feet! That love quickly turned to hate when Roman stepped in the picture but also when I started to see the cracks in his armor that you can't see far away, you have to be up close and personal to see them. Roman, Roman, Roman lol I loved Roman in all his protective alpha male tendencies! Can't say too much without giving the story away but I will say if Roman is the Big Bad Wolf please come blow my house down! Now Liv was well she was all mushy, soft and vulnerable and a little naive at times but when true colors begin to show she became this solid, hard and tough individual that I was happy to read about. By the time I got to the last word on the last page I realized this book wasn't what I thought it would be and certainly not who I thought it was about. Can't wait to read book number #2 and find out the other ways Ashley Beale will blow my mind!
" Him. The one that makes your heart sore with just once glance. The one that makes you smile without a second thought. The guy that you've dreamt about your entire life but never thought you'd actually meet. "
" He just...his voice. Him. He has me feeling like a hormonal teenager discovering a dirty magazine for the first time, and I don't even know the color of his eyes. "
" These are the feelings that people see in movies or read about in novels. The instant spark. The pounding heart. The unexplainable connection. The fear of having him walk away before I even know his name. Its absolutely ridiculous, yet here I am. "
" He reminds me of the Big Bad Wolf. I'm poor little Blanchette carrying my wicker basket through the woods. "
" This time when he stares at me I don't see a monster, I see an animal. One that wants to be tamed but can't control his actions. "
" She was never mine, but from that moment on, I was hers. "
***I was given the privilege by the author to read an ARC of this book!***
Where to start, where to start.... I would first like to say that I was completely blown away by every aspect of Disturbed. Ashley Beale really knows how to suck her readers in and keep them begging for more. You can feel the passion she puts into her writing with every word that is written and this book is no exception! The book is fast paced, exciting and keeps you guessing.
The book starts out with Liv and her best friend Clarissa, at an after graduation party, where Liv spots a super sexy guy standing across the room. Blaise is everything she is looking for in a man, a gentleman, sexy, sweet, caring and has quite a bit of money. This is her first serious relationship and they fall head over heels in love with each other. He offers to get her a job at the company he works for since Liv is currently between jobs. To her this is a life changing opportunity, this could open up the connections she needs to obtain her dream job after college. She was definitely right, life changing is what it turns out to be. Her first day is infuriating, she keeps getting threatened over the phone every time she makes a call to a client. Her boss Roman is arrogant and creeps her out, though he seems like a nice enough guy but there is just something that does not sit right with her. What she doesn't realize is her whole world is about to come crashing down and the people she thought she could trust are the ones she should be fearing. Sometimes, people aren't always what they seem to be and can keep deep dark secrets that could put the ones you love in danger.
This book was intense and definitely worth the read. I cannot wait until the next book comes out because I absolutely must know what is going to happen. I give this book 5 stars because it is freaking amazing! An absolute MUST READ!!
Disturbed is not at all what I was expecting, it was so much more! It has drama, suspense, intrigue, mystery, love, lust, connections being made, lives coming together and lives coming apart.
Liv Donovan and Clarissa are best friends, getting ready to start on the next journey of their lives. They are trying to make the most of their time together before starting college. One night they are out together at a bar when Liv has a moment that you only read about in fairytales:
“I glance over to the right and spot him. The one that makes your heart sore with just one glance. The one that makes you smile without a second thought. The guy that you’ve dreamt about your entire life but never thought you’d actually meet.”
Liv Donovan is a daddy’s girl, she is excited about starting college, looking for a job, loves her best friend Clarissa and her sister Taryn, even though she hasn’t seen her in awhile. Liv doesn’t have any idea what the chance meeting with Blaise Cole at the bar will have on her life and her future. After one glance she is mesmerized with Blaise and knows she wants to get to know more about him.
Blaise Cole is gorgeous, has manners, says all the right things and is every girl’s dreams. But sometimes what you see is not always what you get. Blaise has many secrets and it is just a matter of time until some may be revealed.
This story captivated me from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down until I was done. The cliffhanger is pure torture even though it was expected. Liv is naive and has a lot to learn. Sometimes you have to listen to your gut in certain situations and she is not always good with this. Roman, her new boss, is just the right kind of sexy with a scary edge. I can’t wait to see what is coming next in the Disturbed series. Thank You Ashley for another AMAZING book.
I received an ARC for this book. OMG.... is the first thing I want to say about Disturbed. I was COMPLETELY blown away. I read this book in 1 day flat, because I just couldn't Seem to put it down after I started it. The book pulled me into the story with just the first chapter. (Some Spoilers here**) You have this girl named Liv who just finished High school and ends up falling for the first sexy guy who treats her with kindness... Blaise is that guy...He come in with sweet words and kind gestures and sweeps her off her feet. They end up falling in love " Or what Liv thinks is love" But who wouldn't fall for the perfect guy, right?!? Then there is Roman who is creepy as all hell, but tells Liv to trust him because he is only trying to protect her! For awhile Liv thinks everything is going great other then her creepy boss freaking her, but what she doesn't know is her world is being flipped upside down, everyone is keeping secrets from her and bad things are happening to the people she loves. By the end of the book all you can do is desperately hang on for the next installment to see if her best friend is still alive and to find out who she can truly trust in all of this! I can tell you over and over again how amazing this book is, but honestly you just need to read it and find out on you own.... Because I promise you, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Ashley Beale for such a great book that will keep everyone on the edge of thete seats and dying to find out what happens next.... I give this book 5 amazing stars and I will be unpatiently waiting for the next book :-)
I am not a fan of novellas so I was a little concerned when I volunteered to read this book. However, my concern was unfounded. The story pulled me in from the beginning. There is a lot packed into these pages.
It wasn't very far into the story that I knew there was something wrong with Liv and Blaise’s relationship. I didn’t know why because Blaise seems like a sweet, well mannered, hot guy. In walks Blaise’s boss (who is also Liv’s new boss) and the feeling in the pit of my stomach started to grow.
Clarissa tries to warn Liv that she is making a mistake but Liv doesn’t listen. All her warnings achieved were to create bad feelings between these two friends.
By the end of the book I was on the edge of my seat and worried about these characters. There was a completely unexpected twist to the story that increased my anxious meter.
" These are the feelings that people see in movies or read about in novels. The instant spark. The pounding heart. The unexplainable connection. The fear of having him walk away before I even know his name. Its absolutely ridiculous, yet here I am. "
"We are all capable of killing one another. The more trusting of a person you become, the easier it ends up being for them. You need to be leery of everyone."
I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series. A great read for anyone who likes suspense mixed in with the romance.
***I received and ARC/BETA read of Disturbed from Ashley.***
I have read all of Ashley's books and this one is completely different. Even though it is completely different it is just as good if not better than the other ones. It keep me guessing what was about to happen and in complete suspense until the end.
Liv is a naïve girl that just graduated high school and is about to start college without her best friend Clarissa, who will be a half-hour away. She meets Blaise. He is the sexy guy that did all the right things to make Liv fall in love. He was a perfect gentlemen and treated Liv as a princess and with respect.
However, Blaise held many secrets and had intentions for Liv that were not good. Being the gentlemen that he is he got Liv a job, where she meets Roman. Roman is as much a mystery as Blaise. However, he is handsome and tries to protect Liv. His protection creeps Liv out though. Little does Liv know that what Roman is trying to do is really save her and those around her. Even though Roman is a mystery to her she realizes that he is really trying to do right because she learns that Blaise is not good for her but it is too late.
To find out why make sure to read Disturbed!
I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment, because this is a five star book and will not disappoint you when you read it.
I absolutely loved Disturbed by Ashley Beale. I love everything that Ashley writes, but this is my favorite. Just a warning this is part of a series, so it does kind of end with a cliffy, but that does not take away from how great this story is.
This is a different kind of story. It deals with some darker material, kind of suspenseful, and also hot with some romance. I loved the characters in this book. Liv has just graduated from high school and thinks she has met the man of her dreams. She falls for him quickly, but has her dream become a nightmare? Who can she trust and who is the real monster? She thought her life was going in the right direction, but that is all about to change.
This is a darker read. Definitely not a fluffy romance. There are some hot scenes and some sweet spots.
This story draws you in. I couldn't put it down once I started it. I can't wait for the rest of the series to see what happens with Liv, Roman, Clarissa, and everyone else in this wonderful series. Very well written, absolutely captivating story.
This book will blow your mind, the surprises just keep coming and when they do they are not what you were expecting, Liv is a trusting if somewhat naive girl still living at home when she meets Blaise. The Blaise we meet at the start is charming, loving, protective and he quite literally sweeps Liv off her feet and quickly dominates her whole world. She meets Roman and finds him strange, both men have secrets and neither are what they seem. The plot of this book is different from anything I've read and through her writing Ashley brings all the characters alive and you feel all the emotions and feelings her characters are going through. I can't wait to read book 2 to see what happens next because the ending has everything balanced on a knife edge.
OMG there are too many words that I can say to describe this book but the only one I'm going to say is Awesome and Great okay may that's two words but this book deserves so much more. I'm a fan of Ms Beale and this is completely different from anything that I have ever read by her. She took me by surprise and kept me there until the very end, I must warn you that this but is part of a series and ends in a cliffy but it is so worth it. This was a dark read that had me biting my nails and screaming at my kindle. There were times in this book that I could not believe that that was happening and all I could say was WTH. Ms Beale has officially moved to the top of my list of favorite authors.
this is an easy to follow book. I was left wanting more. Ashley did a wonderful job as she always does on her books. I feel like I'm the main character when I'm reading this book, instead of reading a book. I got sucked in and want so much more. Ashley has a great way of writing about things that you don't want to believe happen in every day life but makes you think I can see this happening in real life. it's the small details she adds that make you feel like your not reading but living in the story that she has written.
**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I enjoyed the story but some parts of the book were repetitive and slow. It wasn't believable how quickly she fell in love with Blaise. I liked Blaise at the beginning but that quickly changed! Everything seemed to go forever and I kept waiting for the good part, then when the good part comes the book is over way too soon and I am left wanting to know what happened to Clarissa!! I did however LOVE the Epilogue at the end in Roman's POV!! Will be sitting here eagerly waiting for the next book!!
This novel was holy s*** on the edge of your seat. I am loving blaise, liv, and roman. I will say though roman definitely has something up his sleeve! Don't know what yet, but can't wait to find out! I can definitely relate to the heart stopping love between blaise and liv. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
I am totally enthralled with all of the mystery & intrigue here! The author pulled me in from the very first page. The characters were well-developed and the story flowed well, never lagging in its progression. Only negative thing here is that it was too short. I want more!! *I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*
This book was weird as shit but I loved it. Although Liv was a little on the immature side I still felt bad for her. I'm so pissed at Blaise, I really liked him & then ... BAM, I hated him ! The end was crazy & left my head spinning wondering what the fuck was going on & what was gonna happen next. I have so many questions & I hope they get answered in the next part.
I LOVED it! One hell of a ride this book read in one sitting i really need book 2 very soon after that ending.
I really liked.... Blaise up until the part I didn't I like Roman too Loved all the characters Clarissa is such a great friend Liv i like but find her a wee bit naive
