A quiet, no-drama production assistant, Ryan has unexpectedly been promoted to Host an online children’s cooking show after the original host abruptly quits. Surprisingly, Ryan has a gift for being natural and charming in front of the camera, which prompts the producer—Brad—to research him. He is stunned to find Ryan is the son of the world famous ghost hunters, Brigid and Adam Austerhölle! Then without telling Ryan, he sells a ghost hunting show around him—but without telling Ryan.
When he finally does tell Ryan, he gets a reaction he never expected.

Ryan, son of a famous ghost hunter, is just trying to get on with his life despite being haunted by his dead brother. Host of a cooking show that has just been cancelled, Ryan's producer finds out about his now deceased family's past and wants him to star in a new show about the spirit world much to Ryan's dismay.
Less than 30 pages long, Chuck Austen entertainingly sets up the primary premise of the story. It's like re-imagining paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in a comic-book universe and focusing on their child's journey into the supernatural world, ghost-busters style.
The first issue of "The Tormented" follows Ryan, who loses his TV job for a baking show, only to be surprised by a camera crew at his door, announcing they've got a ghost-hunting show approved with him as its host. Ryan's parents were famous paranormal experts, like the Warrens from "The Conjuring" universe, complete with a creepy basement museum filled with eerie artifacts. But Ryan has no interest in following his parents' footsteps, nor does he want to 'fake it' for the new show, because the ghosts in his life are far too real!
Ghosts in the house Nice. The story starts off with a difficult back story and ghosts. Son of a legend but not comfortable with the family trait. He can see ghosts. This volume leaves more questions than answers. What is the secret in the basement? What is the family history? Trying to find out in the next issue.
This was just an introduction to the characters and had a twist similar to the movie the Sixth Sense. I like the ghost, the little boy Quinn. The way he was drawn felt like a real little boy.
“The ride has begun in The Tormented, a horror comic series that clearly draws inspiration from The Conjuring universe. With chilling supernatural encounters, eerie atmosphere, and a protagonist hiding dark secrets, this series delivers spine-tingling suspense from the start.”
Would love to see a movie or TV adaptation of this already. Love the premise, the art is very reminiscent of older 90s comic art and I cant wait to see more from the ppl who put this together
