I loved this book I've read Small Town Evil and interstate 10 and I loved all I think this is an amazing book it has some of adult launage but it's amazing I could read it 10000000 more times it's just wonderfull!! Sorry for bad spelling I'm only a kid!!!
I was hooked on the storyline from the first little short book of this series so wanted to grab this one up right away to read the next in line. This one was just as good and picks up years later, when Jennifer is now 13 and she and her dad Jack and trying to get on with their lives. Unfortunately, the ghosts from their past have come back, namely Amanda. And she's got friends who want Jennifer to come help. And they're keeping Jack awake by invading his dreams too. So the two of them set off to take on a serial killer in Texas. This little book takes us on their journey from California to Texas, letting us in on their ride and adventures on the way. Also the strange occurrences and people they run into on their way. Scary stuff, scary killers and ghosts to fill the pages of this short novella. Good writing and enough scares to keep you awake at night. Would be nice to see another sequel to this story but it seems to have been a few years now so not sure we readers will be able to see more to the story. Not for the young but one that will fill you with chills.
I had soon me doubts about a sequel and it seems my doubts are not unfounded. I should say that this is not a terrible story but it is terribly short. Certain people just conveniently and coincidently encounter our main characters. Set five years after the first book, I find out strange she suddenly feels she needs to do something as does her father. Someone they bump into (spoiler) studies telekinetic powers and viola suddenly she somewhat conveniently becomes telekinetic. I didn't find there to b be a very good build to the story; there's a rush to the end and you're left still wanting a good story. It did get two stars because at least the editing is fine and there is a story there - I just think it still needed work to be fleshed out and interesting.
The ending was great! I hope the story continues it can go so many places. The characters we realistic and so human. The book shows the depravity of some of the people out there. Things in this book are why I watch my 5 yr old son so close. It only takes a minute for someone to grab him up. The world is cruel but also beautiful. I highly recommend this book as well as the first one.
Not bad of a read, it would be cool for it to became a series where Jennifer strikes out on her own after growing up, not exactly sure who this Phillips is but I'm sure there's more to come, although the only thing I didn't think was necessary was the girls foul mouth, if my kid talked like that I'd wash his mouth out...but over all not bad.
This was a good story had a great plot but the characters seemed to be the same personality. Like the father and daughter spoke the same. Not like a thirteen year old girl. The same with the rest of of the cast. It could Of used more character development. With each of them having their own voice and not sounding like it was all told from the same person.
Kinda disappointed with the ending. Will there be a third book? I'd like to see where Jennifer (Amanda) ends up. But other than that, just as great and hooking as the first one!!!
Not what I expected, but still a pretty good read. Quick paced without a bunch of filler and it has an interesting ending. Amanda in 10 years as a government assassin??? Why not.
not as good as book one. both are more for young adults. not scary at all. just some adult language. I give this a c- for keeping my attention. good thing they were short stories or I may not have finished them.....cat
Mr. Ken Berglund had my attention with the first Small Town Evil, the sequel that he was so sure he didn't want to write, was just as excellent and riveting as the first.
great as the first one if you've read the first one than you should read this one. even if you havent read the first one you should read this book and first one. really good and scary
This book was great. I'd love another one just like it. I think it is great to see the good guys win. I would love to see what else Jennifer can do with her gifts.
loved the sequel. I hope he writes a 3rd book about what's been going on with Jennifer. I would most definitely read it. Thank you Ken Berglund for two fantastic books.
I read the first which I would recommend doing. I liked this one till the ending where it just ended out of nowhere. My hope is that this story continues.
Spooky, good quick read.Paranormal and criminal suspense kept the pages turning.Wish there were more to follow Jennifer with her growth with her new found powers
