Seventh grader Sandy Shore believes the tiger she has seen in a dream is stalking her father. She also thinks the tiger is responsible for the death of her mother. She and Lee Li become partners on a science project about the Chinese tiger. Their research leads them from Oak Park to Chicago's Chinatown where a fortune teller gives Sandy a darkly threatening riddle. Finally, Lee begins to take her seriously. Will his knowledge of Chinese folklore and Sandy's newfound bravery be enough to defeat the tiger in a final showdown?
