Miss Vermont Teen USA writes a memoir about growing up in the foster care system. It's another great story about a person who came from nothing and then became someone.

Lost in the System is an autobiography, written by Charlotte Lopez with Susan Dworkin. Charlotte Lopez, the 1993 Miss Teen USA winner writes about her experiences in the foster care system, including rejection by families, teenage rebellion, and group homes. Charlotte describes how she overcame her hardships and turned her life around to become a beauty queen. This autobiography has a happy ending, because Charlotte is crowned Miss Teen USA and is finally adopted a few months later at age 17. Lost in the System provides people insight into what the foster care system can be like and how emotions play a large role.
