"How well do you know people? How well do they know you?"

Six authors. Six short stories. Each surrounding the same theme. "Can you keep a secret?" Although the theme for each story is the same we were definitely given a wide variety of tales. Each full of secrets, lies, deceit...and the truth always finding it's way to the surface.

•Everywhere You Look:
-A daughter seeking the truth about her dead father.

•The Ghost Writer:
-A ghost writer hired to help keep secrets...but truth is she has some of her own.

•The Other Side of the Road:
-One couple's dream home is suddenly looking more like a nightmare.

•Scorpions:
-Going against your gut when a hidden treasure is on the line.

•Jackrabbit Skin
-Small town desert life was supposed to be a new beginning...but if you're not careful it could be the end.

•The Bad Friend
-Jealousy, betrayal, and working harder at creating a perfect life online than in real life comes with serious consequences.

The six authors included are:

•Liv Constantine
•Loreth Anne White
•Andrea Bartz
•Rachel Howzell Hall
•Ivy Pochoda
•Caroline Kepnes

I throughly enjoy this series & I was able to read a few authors that I know and love, while also discovering a few new ones as well.

Thank you to NetGalley & Amazon for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. Each short story is now available through Prime, audible & also on kindle unlimited which includes both the ebook & an accompanying audio.

Everywhere You Look is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Liv Constantine. At twenty-eight, Jade Grey has been mourning the loss of her father for ten years and now, with the betrayal of the man she’d hoped to marry, is ready to end her life. But, as she honours the filial tradition of a dinner in New York before she ends her life, she catches a glimpse of the impossible: her father, outside the restaurant. Have the last ten years been a lie? No matter how much friends and family try to convince her she must be mistaken, Jade is determined to find out the truth. Short but packed with intrigue. 5stars

The Ghost Writer is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Loreth Anne White. Being not long widowed by a traumatic incident is only one reason that true crime writer, Grace Logan could reject her editor’s recommendation to travel to The Overlook on Claudia Blackwood’s private island to ghost-write the woman’s memoir. Another might be that the previous ghostwriter fell to her death off the cliff. As a teen, Blackwood was implicated but never found guilty of the murder of two teens and a minor. Against her better judgement, Grace accepts the invitation on the promise that Blackwood will reveal new information about the killings. A gothic thriller with a clever twist that might have an unreliable narrator. 4 stars

The Other Side of the Road is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Andrea Bartz. Newly-wed and expecting, Kelsey and Lauren quit Brooklyn after a long search to move into their dream house in Krumville. The only flies in the ointment are the extremely nosy neighbours opposite, and finding out that the previous owner died after a disagreement with the creepy husband of that couple. While Kelsey is away for work, Lauren finds some disturbing items that have her worried for her safety. .. Cleverly plotted with a truly nasty twist. 5 stars

Scorpions is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Rachel Howzell Hall. Once she had ahead of her a promising career as a rocket scientist; now, at twenty-five, a series of unfortunate incidents and vital things overlooked, and Francesca is an ex-con caring for eighty-seven-year-old obnoxious Ruben Mayer. Who turns out to be Victor Rangel, the only survivor of an armoured car heist. And when he dies, because “of all the people I hated, I hated you the least”, he gives her the directions to the loot, hidden in a mine shaft in Death Valley, where the most common lifeform is scorpions. But Frankie’s not the only one who knows about the stash… Classic Howzell Hall. 5 stars

Jackrabbit Skin is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Ivy Pochoda. When skin artist Swan splits from her husband Paul, she quits LA, homeless and almost broke, and heads for the desert, where her friends have offered the use of a container in the tightly-bound community of Miracle Wash. The locals might be friendly, eventually. The house opposite was burnt down, but that probably was a one off? The neighbour who hangs out there is snarky, but maybe there’s a reason? Her sketches attract a customer wanting a tattoo, but that garners the disapproval of the community. Why? A well-plotted tale with an excellent, if chilling, twist. 5 stars

The Bad Friend is a short story in the Never Tell Collection by Caroline Kepnes. Pregnant and engaged to the good, kind Troy (who doesn’t excite her), Ellen and her fiancé are at a restaurant waiting for her best friend Tanya (late as usual) and her latest (probably another loser) boyfriend. A tall, gorgeous, blue-eyed man catches her eye. He winks. She stares. Is he flirting with her? It’s a shock when this is the guy Tanya brings to meet them. Ross Tate continues the looks, winks. But Ellen is engaged, and her baby girl will be someone she can love, someone who will love her. Fast forward a few years, Ellen has lost contact with Tanya, her boredom leads to divorce from Troy and, a few years on, a hook-up with guess who! But is this a good idea? A second-person narrative in which the protagonist isn’t very likeable, and maybe gets what she deserves? A jaw-dropping twist. 4 stars

I love these little Amazon novella collections so much!! There are always such a great combination of authors that I already love; if one of these collections comes out I am for sure reading it! These collections are also a fantastic way to try out some new authors you may not have read before, for very cheap. These short stories are absolutely a perfect representation of these author’s writing styles. The theme of this collection is “Secrets” and we all know this makes for a fantastic thriller.
This one includes works by Liv Constantine, Rachel Howzell Hall, Caroline Kepnes, Loreth Anne White, Andrea Bartz and Ivy Pochoda.
I love thriller novellas because it’s like a super quick, full story with none of the filler and boring details authors always throw in to get it to those magic 400 pages. These were exciting and thrilling for the whole entire ride, and they were finished in an hour. I love that!
If you are in the mood for a thriller but don’t feel up to the 400+ page commitment, you need to try out this collection! Count it as 6 different books and drive up that 2025 reading goal!
Thank you so much to every single one of these authors and Amazon Original Stories for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review 💕💕

Happy Pub Day!!

This collection of short stories contains several of my favorite authors along with new-to-me authors. Put all together, this was a 4 star read!

Story 1: Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine
4 stars
This short story showed how some family's will do absolutely anything to protect the ones they love. It also showed the power in second chances and never giving up on yourself, no matter how defeated you feel.
Really engaging read!

Story 2: The Ghost Writer by Loreth Anne White
5 stars
I have yet to find a thriller from Loreth Anne White that doesn't immediately and instantly hook me! This short story was no exception! A ghost writer arrives at the isolated cliff side home of a reclusive author where long held truths are revealed and lies are exposed. The inclusion of a delightfully creepy and eerie nursery rhyme made this tale perfectly dark, gothic, and atmospheric! Definitely a MUST READ!

Story 3: The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz
4 stars
Married couple, Kelsey and Lauren, move from the city to their dream home in the country. The older woman who lived in the house before them died mysteriously which puts Lauren on edge. Add in a seemingly intrusive neighbor, Lauren's mind goes into overdrive especially as her pregnant wife has to travel out of town. This short story shed light on the darkness some people tapped into in order to make sure their loved ones get everything they've ever wanted.

Story 4: Scorpions by Rachel Howzell Hall
4 stars
A home health aide, Frankie, isn't exactly upset when her 87 year old patient, Ruben, dies. She's cared for him for the past four years, taking a huge step off the path she planned for herself. As she gets her stuff out of Ruben's home, she finds herself on a brand new path; one that may deliver the money and riches she feels she deserves especially after what she's gone through as Ruben's home health aide. What follows is a crazy and wild ride to see if the journey is worth the payout.

Story 5: Jackrabbit Skin by Ivy Pochoda
4 stars
Swan, a lone, female tattoo artist finds herself starting over again in life and chooses to do so in the desert. She quickly realizes you were either born into the desert or you were forced to pay your dues. What dues will Swan have to pay as she tattoos a tragic story onto community member Kurt who lost his wife in an electrical fire three years earlier while he was out of town? The desert doesn't forget, it always remembers, and...it keeps and buries secrets.

Story 6: The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes
4 stars
This story hit hard and was gut wrenching. It showed how quickly life goes by and how the small decisions we make here and there can deeply impact our lives, for better or worse. This short story reminded me of how often women take on the burdens of the world to see our family members happy, healthy, safe, and protected.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (average)
Never Tell Story collection was interesting but I discovered that I am not a fan of a lot of short stories in one go. It felt complicated to switch between so many characters and storylines.

This collection opened strong but ended flat. I didn't enjoy the last 3 stories as much as I liked the first 3. Definitely first and third were my favorite ones!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Everywhere You Look Liv Constantine was brilliant! Straight to the point, entertaining, interesting storyline, and absolutely lovable main character! Loved the twists, didn't expect them. All in all fantastic straightforward story!

Jade's life gets shaken when she thinks she sees her dad who died 10 years ago. She starts some digging without realizing that it is hard to deal with dark secrets from the past!

Liv Constantine’s Everywhere You Look is part of Never Tell, a heart-pounding collection of stories about secrets, lies, and mind games.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Ghost Writer by Loreth Anne White was an intense and thrilling story! So much action in one short story! There was enough suspense and chills and a good end twist.

When ghostwriter Grace receives the offer to write the memoir of Claudia Blackwell. Claudia Blackwell was accused of triple murder but never was prosecuted... everyone wants to know what happened! Will Grace be the one who will write up this secret?

Loreth Anne White’s The Ghost Writer is part of Never Tell, a heart-pounding collection of stories about secrets, lies, and mind games.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz was good. Oh wow, this was good! So good!! The last twist made me gasp! Such a perfect story! I would love this as a full-length book! I got hucked straight away and was so into the story and was sad that this was fast-forwarded. I definitely want a bit more of this author!

Kelsey and Lauren just moved into their dream home! Perfect family home! but things get creepy when a neighbor appears on the doorstep...
That ending... wow!

⭐⭐⭐
Scorpions Rachel Howzell Hall was a sort of film Mummy just without Mummy. This story wasn't for me. I believe that it was hard for me to connect with the main topic in this story as didn't feel realistic. And none of the characters felt exciting. good as a short story as it was quick and straight to the point.

⭐⭐⭐
Jackrabbit Skin by Ivy Pochoda was... Nope, this wasn't for me.
I just couldn't connect with the story! I tried but I couldn't. And I am not sure I liked the storyline. I would say, it was good for a short story but if this were a full-length book I would struggle to finish.
It just didn't make a lot of sense.

⭐⭐⭐
The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes unfortunately wasn't for me. First of all, I am not a fan of books that are written in the second person. I just struggle to wrap my head around it and constantly get confused. So this took away the focus of the story.
The story itself wasn't bad just not for me.

Thank you, NetGalley for this collection!

"Never Tell: Can You Keep a Secret?" is a compelling anthology that weaves together the talents of six acclaimed authors of suspense—Liv Constantine, Loreth Anne White, Andrea Bartz, Rachel Howzell Hall, Ivy Pochoda, and Caroline Kepnes. Each author brings their unique voice to the collection, creating a tapestry of tales that explore the depths of human secrecy and the lengths to which people will go to protect their darkest truths.

The anthology opens with "Everywhere You Look" by Liv Constantine, a gripping narrative that sets the tone for the collection with its exploration of the past's persistent grip on the present. The story's New York setting is as much a character as the protagonist, whose chance encounter unravels a lifetime of lies. A 5 star story!

Loreth Anne White's "The Ghost Writer" delves into the Gothic, offering a chilling account of a reclusive author whose decision to reveal her most infamous secret has unforeseen consequences. The atmospheric tension is palpable, making it a standout piece in the collection.

Andrea Bartz's "The Other Side of the Road" presents a cautionary tale about the cost of ambition and the price of a dream house that comes with more than just a mortgage. It's a modern-day fable that warns of the dangers lurking beneath the surface of our desires.

In "Scorpions," Rachel Howzell Hall crafts a narrative rich with intrigue and betrayal. A man's lifetime of secrets becomes a treasure hunt with a venomous twist, showcasing Hall's ability to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Ivy Pochoda's "Jackrabbit Skin" is a visceral exploration of the rage and secrets that can fester beneath the surface. It's an unsettling story that gets under your skin and stays there (my personal favorite, 6 stars for this one)!

Closing the collection is Caroline Kepnes' "The Bad Friend," a psychological deep dive into the complexities of friendship and the destructive power of secrets. Kepnes' mastery of suspense shines through, leaving readers to ponder the true nature of their relationships.

Overall, "Never Tell" is a masterclass in suspense, with each author contributing a story that is both distinct and harmonious within the collection. The central theme of secrets—how they shape us, haunt us, and ultimately expose us—is executed with precision and depth. This anthology is a must-read for fans of the genre and a testament to the enduring power of a well-kept secret.

An Amazon Originals collection of six thriller/suspense novellas. It’s actually among the strongest groupings I’ve yet to read from AO.

Strongest to weakest:

Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine

Co-number one.

Jade Gray is a cancer survivor who, one night, spots someone who can’t possibly be alive…or can he?

Strong start-to-finish psychological thriller. This is how to tell a complete story in a compact, novella format.

The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes

Co-number one.

Kepnes uses second person present POV as well as anybody. It’s risky as all hell, and she reaps the benefits.

El is our narrative MC. We get all of her unvarnished thoughts and feelings. This author continues to write characters with damage and negativity displayed like badges of honor.

Unsafe. Toxic. Nasty. Uncomfortable. And vividly real.

The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz

Kelsey and her wife Lauren are pregnant with their first child.

Two NYC girls, they have finally found their dream house up in Hudson Valley.

Feels linear at times, but remains entertaining. Satisfying domestic thriller.

Jackrabbit Skin by Ivy Pochoda

Swan is needing an escape from Los Angeles. She absconds to Miracle Wash, California, and takes up residence in a jackrabbit homestead there.

Kurt Radler is Swan’s mysterious new neighbor.

Piques curiosity and maintains interest. Ending is satisfactory.

The Ghost Writer by Loreth Ann White

Grace Logan agrees to ghost write the autobiography of Claudia Blackwood (or is it “Blackwell”??): “an infamous and reclusive Gothic horror novelist.” Claudia is James Patterson levels of popular.

This would be 4 stars, but for the repeated mistakes. Blackwood Island and Blackwell Island. Claudia Blackwood and Claudia Blackwell. 28 separate occurrences of disparate spellings. Aren’t these books edited and proofread? Like, by actual professionals??

Scorpions by Rachel Howzell Hall

There’s always a weak one, isn't there?

Frankie is a CNA. When her patient, Ruben Mayer, expires, it sets off a chain of wild events.

Frankie’s constant wealthy envy, FOMO, and just general jealousy grate on the reader. She is an insufferable narrative MC.

Twists, turns, and reveals in the plot are adequate…but the ending is not.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5/5)

Never Tell brings together 6 short stories by various authors, some authors I’ve read before others are new to me. Please note that I did not listen to the audiobook, my review is based solely on the Kindle version. Fast read, some were enjoyed more than others. Each are extremely different, one I consider a thriller, others were more suspenseful. Overall this was just an OK read for me.

Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine
At a crossroad in her life, Jade is missing her Dad who passed away years earlier. Each year she returns to their favorite restaurant to celebrate her birthday. One year she receives the shock of her life, which leaves her questioning everything. Enjoyable.

The Ghost Writer by Loreth Ann White
My favorite of the group! Grace is hired to Be a ghost writer to a famous author. But, what happens when the table is turned. This one has more thriller vibes for me. Enjoyable ending.

The Other Side by Andrea Bartz
Kelsey and Lauren can’t believe their luck..married, expecting, and they just moved into Laurens’s dream home. It’s perfect…or is it. Creepy nosey neighbor. Very well written.

Scorpions by Rachel Howzell Hall
Frankie is the caretaker of an cantankerous older man. When he suddenly dies, he leads her on a treasure hunt. But she finds she has company. Greed and selfishness are front and center. Ending left me wanting more.

Jackrabbit Skin by Ivy Pochoda
Swan needs to get away. She’s offered a cabin in a small remote area. She definitely gets more than she bargained for. This community protects their own. Will Swan fit in or run away from the secrets she uncovers. Crazy ending.

The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes
Ellen is never happy. Age questions everything; her relationships, happiness, wants and needs, always reaching for better. Wishes for so much more out of her life. Be careful what you wish for.

Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC. This is my honest opinion.

Good short story collection from the Amazon Originals series. Read on Kindle.
-------------------------
#1 - Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine (1.5/5 stars)
Weak start to the collection. This author has not mastered the art of the short story. This felt like a full-length plot smooshed into fewer pages.

#2 - The Ghost Writer by Loreth Anne White (2.5/5 stars)
Decent entry from a reliable writer. The last line was silly & didn't fit with the rest of the story, unfortunate to end on a cringe note. Also, for absolutely NO reason, the author decided to have a main character & her therapist become lovers . . . what?? That is icky and a huge ethical breach and served no purpose in the narrative.

#3 - The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz (3.5/5 stars)
I liked this one a lot! Very "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" with a satisfying ending.

#4 - Scorpions by Rachel Howzell Hall (4/5 stars)
This is the first one I read of the collection, and it solidified my interest in reading the rest.

#5 - Jackrabbit Skin by Ivy Pochoda (5/5 stars)
My absolute favorite of the collection. It took me a moment to get into the author's writing style, but once I did, I was immersed.

#6 - The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes (?/5 stars)
Difficult to rate. This story did not seem to fit with the others in the collection. I didn't enjoy the 2nd person narrative style, and the characters didn't resonate. I did like what the author was doing with the "unresolved chord" of the story -- not spelling everything out, letting it be unsettling. I feel like I would want to read an author's note on what inspired the story. It clearly made me think.

This is a collection of six novellas from an amazing group of suspense authors:
Liv Constantine
Loreth Anne White
Andrea Bartz
Rachel Howzell Hall
Ivy Pochoda
Caroline Kepnes
I had previously read half of the authors, and I was quick to download this NetGalley offering. I’ve recently started enjoying novellas, especially since it’s so easy to take a natural break at the end of each of the stories. I read most of them last weekend, two while enjoying a glass of wine before going to see a show. I found some links between the series, but I think I missed some of the connections. I realized that I hadn’t read the last two before they were published this past Tuesday - oops! I listened to the last two via Prime (you can read or listen to all of these for free if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber!), and I think part of the reason I loved the last novella, The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes, was because it was narrated by narrator extraordinaire Julia Whelan!
My favorite novella was The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz - the twist at the end was jaw dropping in the best way!
Thanks to Amazon Original Stories for the review copy in exchange for my honest opinion. These stories are now available as an entire collection or one at a time, both via ebook and audiobook, on Amazon and are free for Prime subscribers. Check them out if you want some short but well-crafted suspenseful reads!

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐛𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐳 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞
▪️A quick 47 pages about the unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter even when he is dead. I’m not sure I would categorize this as a thriller but it was the perfect pallet cleanser full of secrets.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞
▪️This one is giving The Only One Left meets Verity meets the Jack & Jill nursery rhyme. For a short story, this one really got my heart pounding. I really enjoyed it and the ending did not disappoint.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐳
▪️Super quick read that felt exactly like a story told at a campfire in the middle of summer when someone brings up spooky stories. I really enjoyed this one. Perfect for anyone with nosy neighbors!

𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐳𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥
▪️A story of greed and selfishness. This one didn’t really do it for me unfortunately as I didn’t feel there was a resolution. It didn’t feel like a thriller really but was more the opposite of a happily ever after with no ending.

𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐈𝐯𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐚
▪️ A story of community and what members of that community will do to protect it. I liked how detailed this short story was. I also think the desert setting was perfect for this one.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐩𝐧𝐞𝐬
▪️ A story of feeling inadequate and insecure. This one confused me a bit as I am not sure where the suspense was. I will say I liked the POV as it made it more personal.

A riveting and sinister collection by some of the most talented thriller writers. I love how diverse all the stories were, from domestic suspense to the gritty and gothic. Even though some turned out to be underwhelming, all were well-written and had wonderful premises.

The Ghost Writer was hands down my favourite, but every tale is worth the read and has something different to offer.

Short story collections serve as a good introduction to some writers but they can also be detrimental. I originally chose to review this one because I love Liv Constantine but I was actually disappointed by that story. I was pleased to find two new authors to follow, Loreth Anne White and Andrea Bartz, but the other stories were not for me. Reviews of the individual stories can be found here:

ARC provided off NetGalley for Never Tell Collection

Book 1: Honestly, I expected a better twist? The ending was too light for me given my expectations from The Last Mrs Parrish. Enjoyed otherwise!

Book 2: Loved this twist! Short and atmospheric with a great ending

Book 3: This collection keeps getting better and better!! Loved this one, houses in the woods with big windows always give me the creeps

Book 4: The story here was good and I enjoyed the main character's voice but after the last two it was slightly more lacklustre of a story in terms of thrillers.

Book 5: I really enjoyed this one, the meandering, the desert, the characters were all too real which is frightening. This author was one of the few in the collection I'd not read any novels from but I will be adding them to my tbr!

Book 6: This was a dark one to end the series, everyone deeply unlikable and also in the end a bit mundane.

Book #40 read in 2024

In this short story collection, there are six books by well-known authors. It is a great way to read a short story from a favorite author and experience/find new authors to love. My favorite story and author from this collection was Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine. I just love her writing style and always look forward to anything she writes. My favorite from a new to me author was The Ghost Writer by Loreth Anne White. However, all of these were interesting and a great way to spend time. I'm really enjoying these collections from Amazon!

Thank you to Amazon Originals for the complimentary ebooks and Audible Originals for the complimentary audiobooks.

This was a nice little collection of short stories written by six best selling authors of suspense. I was only really familiar with Liv Constantine and Loreth Anne White so I was excited to get a small introduction to the other four authors. My favorites were The Bad Friend by Caroline Kepnes and The Other Side of the Road by Andrea Bartz. The other stories were also enjoyable but these two really stood out for me. I'm so happy to have discovered these new to me authors!

This collection can easily be read in one sitting or if you are like me, you'll savor each story separately. Happy Reading!

This collection was one full of suspense, mystery and secrets. Most of the authors included in this collection were new to me, and I enjoyed getting to have a short story of their work. I found myself immersed in all of the stories, as they individually pulled me in and made me root for the main character to make it out of the story unscathed. I could not pick one that I enjoyed over the others as each were unique. I look forward to looking up the individual authors and checking out their other works. Thank you to Amazon Original Stories for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Everywhere You Look - Liv Constantine (2.5 Stars)

Everywhere You Look had interesting moments but there were also boring moments. It was an ok read for me. I didn't really care for the main character but I wanted to see where it was going so I kept reading. I wasn't a fan of this story.

The Ghostwriter - Loreth Anne White

The Other Side of the Road - Andrea Bartz

Scorpions - Rachel Howzell Hall

Jack Rabbit Skin - Ivy Pochoda

The Bad Friend - Caroline Kepnes

(i didn’t listen to the audio of these i’m just using this copy to count all the books as one since they’re all so short)

“the bad friend” was definitely my favorite of the 6
“everywhere you look” & “scorpions were both pretty good
“the other side of the road” & “the ghost writer” were alright
“jackrabbit skin” was the only one i didn’t like

overall 3 stars! a pretty decent collection. was now introduced to 6 new thriller authors so i’m very grateful for that

This was a fun group of short stories. All suspenseful, by 6 popular authors, each story is about the secrets people keep and how they can impact our lives for better or worse. I ended up listening to them all and while it can be difficult to tell a good story in the short story format, all the authors did an admirable job on this collection.
Thanks to Netgalley and Amazon Original Stories for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.

Don't feel it's worth a credit.
I did love the 2 I rated in this. They grabbed me right away. This year I'm making it a point not to finish ones that don't grab me so I can get on to ones that do.

I was drawn to this collection of stories by the list of amazing thriller authors. I have read previous Amazon short story collections and really enjoyed them. But I felt that all of these stories fell flat. It took me a while to get through them all and they didn’t draw me in like I had hoped.

A collection of 6 short stories….

These weren’t long enough for me to count towards my reading goals for the year so I’m bundling them together 🙂
