Cougar’s Mate: Instinct told her to run…

Shannon Rafferty learns that hanging out with the bad boys could be a dangerous business, but hooking up with a cop is even worse. Now she’s on the run, trying to avoid being murdered by his cougar shifter brothers and uncle. If that isn’t bad enough, a deputy sheriff hunts her down while she’s running as a cougar and trying to survive in the Colorado wilderness. He vows to protect her no matter what she’s done. With three dead boyfriends to her name, she’s sure she will be the death of Chase Buchanan before either of them can prevent it. No matter how much she knows she has to run again, he soon holds her heart hostage. But will that be enough to keep them both alive?

Chase Buchanan—as wilderness cabin resort owner, former US Army Special Forces, and part time deputy of the small town of Yuma, Colorado that boasts a love of cougars—is tasked to track down a cougar reported to be hunting human prey. Chase soon learns she’s a shifter, not a full-time cougar, and she’s on the run. When he takes her in, he vows to protect her. After losing his wife and baby to the human kind of predator years earlier, he’s not letting Shannon’s hunters kill her, too. But how is he going to hold onto the wild-cat woman, who is unpredictable at every turn, without losing his heart to her, and then losing her as well?

There is absolutely nothing I didn’t love about Cougar’s Mate by Terry Spear. This is one of those books that grabs you right from the first page and doesn’t let go until the last.

“She’d never felt she was cursed, but what if she was? With three dead boyfriends to her name?”

Shannon Rafferty is guilty of only one thing and that is choosing the wrong boyfriends. She has had a rough life. She lost per parents early . Her twin brother chose the wrong path, the wrong friends, and she lost him too. Her first two boyfriends who were both friends of her brother’s are each dead as well. So, she decided that dating a cop had to be safe. He had to be a good guy, right? He’s a cop. Well, she was wrong. Shannon is a shifter, her animal being a Puma. Her boyfriend and his brothers are also cougars. Shannon knew he was hiding something, but the night before she had decided she needed to leave, he and his brothers came home early and were quarreling. And one of the brothers killed her boyfriend. And she was a witness. The brothers were convinced that Shannon knew where some money was hidden. Plus, she just witnessed a murder, so she ran. She ditched her car, shifted, and lived for the next month as a cougar.

 photo images1_zpsfe5b83e4.jpg

Four weeks later, she is malnourished and exhausted and wandering around in Colorado. She hasn’t been in human form for so long. But even though she is living as a cougar, she still has the heart of a human. All she wants is to find something to eat and to rest. But instead she finds a little boy who has fallen into a river and is about to drown. She so drags the boy to safety and warms him with her cougar coat until help arrives. But the humans mistake her actions as predatory.

Chase Buchanan is a cougar shifter. He owns a wilderness camp and lives in Yuma, Colorado along with an entire community of shifters. I loved this community. These people come together no matter what the circumstances and protect one another. They genuinely care about one another. Chase is also a part time deputy for the Sherriff’s Department. He gets a call that there is a wild cougar attacking a little boy so off he goes to capture the cougar, never realizing that this is no wild cougar but a female shifter.

Through many comical circumstances, Chase and Shannon are finally acquainted. Does Shannon dare to come clean and admit why she is running? She is sure her dead boyfriend’s brothers will attempt to pin his murder on her. She can’t stay here and put this community in danger. But she needs food, she needs rest. Maybe she can just stay for a couple of days. Chase vows to keep her safe no matter what she is running from. But once Shannon steals his heart, there is no way he can let her go. But if Shannon really wants to run, can he really stop her?

“Hell, he loved her for all her vulnerability, her sassiness, her caring, everything that made her the she-cat that she was. Somehow, he would save her.”

This book has humor and romance and lots of heart pounding action. I loved every page of it. If you enjoy shifter books, then you will love this book. This was my first book by Terry Spear and most definitely will not be my last.

A paranormal romance that made me laugh, held me riveted in the suspenseful moments and swooning at the steamy passages!

"I haven't done anything wrong. "Get off me!"
"You're kidding, right? You've injured a sheriff, broken in and entered a house, stole a car - mine - stole Hal Haverton's clothes, broken a glass, and littered."

COUGAR'S MATE by Terry Spear was a thoroughly enjoyable paranormal romance! It grabbed me from the very beginning and held my attention to the very end. I actually read the first half of this book and listened to the last half. Both editions were very good and I am happy to report that I had absolutely no issues switching between the two. If I had to choose between the two, I preferred the audio, but only because the narrator's interpretation added another layer of pleasure to the story.

This was the story of two cougar-shifters, Chase Buchanan and Shannon Rafferty. It mostly took place in the small town of Yuma, Colorado. Chase was a former Special Ops military. Now he's an assistant deputy sheriff in Yuma, home to a close-knit pack of cougar shifters. Chase settled in Yuma to be close to the buddies he'd served with in Special Ops, but he's mostly been a social loner, despite the efforts of some of the females in their community. When a lone cougar is spotted in the wilderness near Yuma shortly before hunting season begins, Chase is put on the cougar's trail. She gives him a merry chase until he shoots her with a tranquilizer dart - only to surprisingly find that she was also a shifter - and a beautiful one at that. He feels really bad for having shot her and finds himself attracted to her. He's determined to discover her story and save her; but, she's quite the escape artist and doesn't want saving. In reality, he also needs saving...

Shannon is on the run after being framed for the murder of her boyfriend by rogue cops. She knows that they will never bring her in alive, so her only hope is to stay hidden and ahead of them. She was near the end of her rope after running as a cougar for so long - but certainly not planning to be apprehended by a group of cougar-shifters who claim to have her back. Unfortunately, she's not made the best choices in men in the past and she can't afford to trust anyone with her safety now - especially not the law, who would only turn her in.

COUGAR'S MATE was narrated by Laura Jennings. This was the first book I've ever listened to that Laura had narrated and I was quite impressed with her performance. She has a pleasant, clear voice and differentiated between the characters with aplomb. Her delivery was natural and her pacing was right on. Based upon her voicing of this read, I would not hesitate to pick up another book that Laura has narrated.

Terry is one of my very favorite authors. I've loved everything I've read that she's written from her paranormals to her fantasies to her Highland romances and more. Her books are always excellently written with an addictive solid plot and likeable, genuine characters. This one alternately made me laugh, held me riveted to the suspenseful moments and swooning at the steamy passages. I can't wait to return to Yuma and catch up with this series! I highly recommend COUGAR'S MATE to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***Author gifted me a copy for an honest review

The cover is awesome and sexy :) It is what attracted me to the excerpt up on Wattpad & of course that it is Terry Spear.

I have read most of the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry and loved them all. I have the ones I haven’t read yet sitting on my coffee table as well as the Jaguar shifter books too. As always there is never enough time for reading :)

Okay I fell in love with this story from the moment I read Chapter 1 on Wattpad. I had to find out if this was a book, so I left a comment asking :) She told me it was a book and would be out soon. I was so excited because I love shifter books & Terry Spear, so together ***insert a girly scream here, I was extremely happy!

In Terry’s books, you never have to wait to be sucked into the story. She had me at the first chapter. I read the book straight through with tiny breaks for necessities.

First impressions of Shannon, she is the type of girl who just wants to be loved but is always found by the wrong men. I love that she is not a pushover because I don’t want to read a story about a fainting daisy that always need rescuing and won’t try to rescue herself. I love my heroine’s strong and feisty and that is Shannon even when she is skittish.

Chase is a sexy man with a past that makes you cry. It makes you want to save him :) He would be a loner, but his friends won’t let him. I love this!! I love seeing people rally together and support each other when needed. I wish it happened more in life especially with kids.

All of this makes me love the shifter town of Yuma, and I hope this is a series because I want to read more about all of the secondary characters who I have already started loving.

I highly recommend this book to my shifter loving friends & those who already love Terry Spear!! Can’t wait to read more!!!

Another enthralling, action-packed paranormal romance by award winning author Terry Spear! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:

Cougar Shifter Shannon has not had the best luck with men. Not only was her twin brother murdered after he got in with the wrong crowd, but her last three boyfriends were killed. After dating bad boys, she became involved with her latest boyfriend, who was a police officer. He and his two brothers, who are triplets, were dirty cops and involved in a shady deal. After witnessing her boyfriend’s death at the hands of one of his triplet brothers, Shannon barely escapes with her life. However, the two remaining brothers and their uncle believe she knows the location of the missing money that resulted in her boyfriend’s death. Knowing that she will be the next fatality if they get their hands on her, Shannon leaves behind her car and all of her identification as she escapes to Colorado. For over a month, she exists, barely, as a cougar. But when she comes to the rescue of a small boy who is on the verge of drowning, Shannon is spotted and soon becomes the target of an area wide search.

Chase lost his wife and baby daughter four years ago when his home was invaded and he wasn’t able to get there in time to save them. Now he is living in Yuma, Colorado – a cougar shifter colony, and owns a series of remote cabins that he rents out. Part of the time he fills in as a deputy, helping Sheriff Dan, who served in the Special Forces with him, along with the other deputies. When Dan calls him to help catch a cougar, hoping to tranquilize it and take it to a safe area, Chase cannot refuse. But when he locates the cougar and shoots it with the tranquilizer gun, he is startled to discover a nude woman in place of the animal. The last thing he expected is that she is a shifter. But when, barely lucid, she attacks him, he is soon seeing double.

After knocking out both Chase and Sheriff Dan, Shannon is finally captured by the double-sighted deputy. Given a choice of the special jail they have for shifters or staying with Chase, Shannon elects the deputy’s cabin. Finally able to get a shower, a hot meal and some rest, Shannon feels like she is in heaven, but how long can she stay before the killers catch up with her?

Chase finds himself falling for the wild she-cat, but knows she plans to run, if given the slightest provocation. Can he get her to trust him enough to confide in him so he can help her with her problem, or will danger catch up with her before then, costing him his chance at happiness once more?

An action-packed tale, COUGAR’S MATE, the first book in author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE COUGAR series, is an exciting, suspense-filled contemporary romantic suspense that will keep you captivated right up to the end. The chemistry between Shannon and Chase is off the charts and the adrenaline is at an all-time high. I loved the small town dynamics with everyone pitching in to help keep Shannon safe as they try to find out who is after her and find ways to deal with her problem. Rife with suspense, action, passion, danger and romance, this story is a page-turner and is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed it immensely and cannot wait to read the next addition to this electrifying series.

~ 5 Cougar Stars ~

Cover is awesome and sexy! Very attractive and inviting.

I love it when I find a book I can't put down even though I know I need to; because it’s so late. Cougar’s Mate is one of thous amazing book’s that you just can't put down until you have finished. What an astonishing beginning to a wonderful new series by Terry Spear. She has created a fascinating world full of fun characters, adventure, suspense and passion. I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy Ms. Spear's writing style and the easy flow, the character development and the plot. I am such a fan of Terry Spear and was blown away by her new series Heart of the Cougar.

Now onto Cougar’s Mate :

So many things happen once you open the first page. Ms. Spear throws us into Shannon’s life. She is a strong woman determined to survive. She has made some bad decisions in the boyfriend department as well as had a difficult life growing up which has lead to her not trusting easily and wanting to just be loved, but it always seams to be out of her reach. I enjoyed her strong and feisty personality as well her character development and growth throughout the book. Chase (fan myself) is a very sexy man with a sad past that will make anyone cry. He try’s to be a loner running his wilderness inn, but all his friends won’t let him. He works as a part time deputy which ends up getting him into an interesting situation. When Shannon and Chase meet for the first time it’s not in a normal way, no that would be to easy. (If you want to know what happens you’ll just have to read and find out.) Of course all his friends kept bringing up how a feisty she-cat got the better of him.

I really loved the Cougar run town of Yuma. We usually don’t see a lot of cat shifter run towns. I found this to be refreshing. It was also sweet to see how they helped each other out and how very open and welcoming they where to Shannon. The chemistry between Shannon and Chase is off the charts. It grows throughout the book and it’s not until half way through that they finally hit the sheets. I like a story with a great plot and time for the romance to come together; before we are off to the bedroom. I also loved all the secondary characters that are introduced in this book. I am looking forward to their stories and learning more about them. We get suspense, adventure, passion and so much more that Cougar’s Mate will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Note: We get a sneak peek of book 2 Call of the Cougar at the end of Cougar’s Mate, so more is coming. YA!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the book from Author Terry Spear in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

This book opens with a great scene and keeps the momentum going throughout the book. You’ll get sucked in right away and won’t be able to put it down until the last page is turned.
Shannon is a cougar shifter and is running for her life. I love how she defends herself when she feels threatened. She also has a soft side and shows concern for other people even if it puts her in danger.
Chase is one sizzling hot alpha cougar and decides he’s going to take care of Shannon, whether she wants him to or not. He’s also an on-call deputy who protects his town.
What I loved about the story was the cougar community. Everyone is worried about Shannon even though she’s new in town. They go out of their way to make her feel welcome and show their concern about her. I also loved when Shannon went “cougar” on the bad guys.
I can’t think of anything I didn’t love about this story.
I highly recommend this book if you love shifters, cats, and like to stay up all night reading.

Below average - 2 stars

The story was overly long with predictable conclusions.
The plot was dragged out, but the scenes which provided answers and resolutions were limited in detail and rushed.
--I'll pick up the next in the series and hope it improves :)
Other Terry Spear series were more enjoyable.

If it wasn't for horrible, tragic luck with men, cougar shifter Shannon Rafferty wouldn't have any luck with men at all. After dating criminals didn't work out, Shannon tries romance yet again with the worst results of all and she has no choice but to run for her life. Luckily Shannon runs directly into part time deputy and resort owner, widower Chase Buchanan.

Chased across country, Shannon's alone and terrified that she'll be blamed for a crime she didn't commit but sussing out Shannon's true nature, Chase knows she's the balm for his lonely heart and maybe, just maybe trying romance with this fiery she cat is a romance worth having. Now if only he can get her to trust him!

The opening volley of the series is an easy read with new, comfortable characters, a sexy romance, a not so wilting damsel in real distress, good writing and a soft story. Fans of this author's Heart of the Wolf series will feel right at home in the cougar shiftertown of Yuma Town, Colorado.

I can't believe she had so much trouble with men in her past but when she thought she really found a good one she finds out he's worse than her past cause of his family. Now she's in serious trouble that she accidentally finds a man that is different in sum ways but she soon has 2 decide if he's worth trusting or not cause of what's going on with her. And the whole county/city wants 2 know everything so they can help and try 2 convince her of things that can benefit her and the town 4 the better. What will she do??

What a ride!

This book was a face paced, action packed thrill to read. I love the idea of cougar shifters especially that their women are so strong. This heroine was one of the best female characters that I have read in a while. She was absolutely amazing so strong and fierce, unpredictable and unwilling to just give up and accept her fate. I'm looking forward to reading the next story.

Bestselling Author Terry Spear takes readers on a new adventure with the first book in a new shifter series, Heart of the Cougar. This time cougar's that take center stage, as Spear builds her new series around another powerful, intelligent animal. Cougar's Mate introduces readers to the town of Yuma, Colorado, ran by cougar shifters and open to helping heroine Shannon Rafferty who is on the run from those who want her dead. Deputy Chase Buchanan doesn't know what he's getting himself into, but he knows he has to protect this woman, this she-cat who has stolen his heart.

What I liked:

I am a Terry Spear fan from way back. And hearing that she had a new series out about another group of shifters was tantamount to Christmas for me. Spear has a way of writing that not only pulls the reader in, but it also keeps them interested and not just through one particular novel, but through everything they can possibly find that she's written. She has an easy word flow and style that makes her writing accessible and engaging. Her characters are always intense and well developed and her world building is beyond phenomenal and I was so excited to see where she would go with her new cougar shifters. I was certainly not disappointed. Yuma is quite a town!

Shannon Rafferty is one of those women that just doesn't know how to pick'em. She has had three boyfriends that were not Mr. Right and all three have ended up dead. Now she's on the run from the brothers of boyfriend number three which ended up murdered before her eyes. She's a cougar shifter and ends up living as a cougar in order to protect herself. She certainly hasn't had an easy life and she doesn't know who she can trust. As a heroine I think Shannon had her moments. At first she needs a lot of help to survive, but eventually she comes into her own and shows her fierce cougar spirit. I think Spear gives readers a woman who shows that sometimes it's okay to accept help when you need it. It doesn't make you weak or any less independent. I loved the fact that Shannon knows her limits, but also shows a protective side when she tries to decide whether to leave Yuma or not.

Chase is an interesting hero. He is ex military and has a strong and courageous heart. He wants to be a loner, but he can't quite pull it off. He is drawn to the people of his small shifter community and when he meets Shannon in a very precarious situation, his protective instincts kick in hard. He was great hero for a lot of reasons. But I think the most interesting part of his character was the way his past shaped him into the man and cougar shifter he is. He is not immune to tragedy, and he knows where Shannon is coming from. I liked that about him and Spear just seemed to know how to make these two characters relate.

The relationship between Shannon and Chase doesn't start off with a bang. There is a slow build up that ends in a very satisfying romance. Spear always knows when to use the right amount of humor, the right amount of action and the right amount of sizzle. These two have some serious chemistry and it's pretty undeniable that they are made for each other, it's just a matter of convincing them of that.

As with any good Spear book, the world building is central to the story. I loved Yuma from the first description. It reminded me of Silver Town from Spear's Heart of the Wolf series, in that it was run by shifters, but that's where the similarities end. It wasn't a pattern that Spear carried over or reused. This town was unique and had secondary characters that were multi-dimensional. Spear showed depth and understanding in creating a community that was united and protective. A town that looked after it's own. I loved that community spirit and strong connections between the characters and I'm looking forward to where Spear will take readers with them.

What I didn't like:

Sometimes I think readers put too much credence in books that are published by the big houses and don't take the time to look closer at books that are self published. Terry Spear did a remarkable job with this book, from the cover art to the exceptional writing and the promotional aspects. It's time for a change in attitude about self-publication and books like this one will be the cornerstone that will rival any titles from the name houses.

Bottom Line:

This is an exceptional paranormal romance. Terry Spear never disappoints. She creates characters that readers can relate to, whether they are paranormal or not. Her world building is a real strength in her writing, as is her easy style and humor. If you are looking for an engaging love story that just happens to involve cougar shifters, this one is one to read.

"Cougar's Mate" by Terry Spear. Book 1 in the Heart of the Cougar series.

I really liked this first book of the Heart of the Cougar series! The characters of Shannon and Chase were strong, likeable and very well matched for each other.

Shannon is a cougar-shifter on the run. She just witnessed her boyfriend murdered by his own brother and now Hennessey is after her. Her only option of escape is to shift into her courgar form and take to the forest. After four weeks of running as a cougar, Shannon is getting tired and hungry. She has no idea where she is but when she hears the cries of a little boy in trouble, she has to help him. Little did she know that helping a child would get her shot.

Chase is in charge of hunting down a cougar. A little boy reported that a cougar saved his life. Now either this cougar was saving the boy for a meal...or the cougar is a shifter, like him. He has to find this cougar before anything happens to him/her. It's hunting season now, and cougars are at the top of the hunting list.

I thought the storyline to this book was really good. Chase's backstory was really very emotional and his own personal struggle with failing people explained why he's so protective of Shannon. Shannon's past with always getting involved with the wrong kind of guy was well established. You really see the growth in her character as the book progresses.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely continue to read this series.

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

I was excited to get a chance to read her new series, which involved cougars. I definitely knew the minute I started reading, I would have a hard time putting down Cougar’s Mate. Terry Spear does amazing research on every shifter book she writes. I studied about cougars when I was little, so was curious to read a fictional shifter story about them. (In Florida, we call them panthers, and they are an endangered subspecies of cougars, and Terry Spear did an amazing job on in cooperating these beautiful animals into a story.) She was able to portray these beautiful animals into shifters that will win readers hearts.

I enjoyed every minute of this book and look forward to reading the next in the series. If you are looking for a book that has romance, action from beginning to end, and lots of humor then this book is for you.

I give this book 4.5 moons and recommend it to paranormal romance readers out there. If you haven’t read Terry Spear’s books yet, then you are missing out on some amazing books.

This was a hard read for me...literally. It took me well over a week to make myself finish. While I appreciate all the detail, the author's writing style in this book is so "wordy" at times it just took away from the story along with abrupt topic changes when the initial topic wasn't fully resolved. The story is so-so and poorly telegraphed and there is a lot of redundancy. The characters are indistinguishable from one to the other. Case in point, Chase, Dan, Hal and Stryker are so similar that they could have been the same character. I often found myself looking back a paragraph to see who's voice or thoughts I was reading. Shannon's character is without a doubt the best written. Cynic that I am, I found the townspeople are just a bit too concerned and too nicey-nosey for me. Not a whole lot of shifter action aside from the occasional shift and run. The fight scene was not adequate and over way too quickly. Cougar's Mate didn't hold my interest. There was no suspense and certainly no excitement leading up to the showdown with Hennesy and his brother and uncle. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.

Oh, YES – have fallen in love with this new series, Heart of the Cougar, written by Terry Spear. Chase is a lonely, loving, very sexy character, whom the entire town had taken under their wing trying to help him overcome the heartache of losing his wife and child but, it was his chasing, meeting and then doing everything he could to get Shannon to trust him, where he finally comes into his own. Shannon is a great character, feisty, caring, has been through a tough time, made a lot of mistakes, but is determined to rectify these mistakes, fighting to survive, so together Chase and Shannon were a perfect pair. The characters of Yuma Town were delightful, oh, what a “wonderful” town. Can’t wait to read the next story in this series because Terry Spear has once again done a fantastic job of doing what she does best, giving her readers wonderful shifters, a great storyline, along with some beautiful locations.

Well Terry Spear had done it again!!! She has brought out a new and very exciting series in" Heart of the Cougar" The first book being "Cougar's Mate" and I have to say that she took me on a journey of into the world of Cougar shifter's that kept me on the edge of my seat practically through the entire book. It was what I would call a chase to the very end of the book. Her characters were strong, passionate, loving, and very supporting with what can only be called a stranger that wondered into there town, and into there lives. It was a very strong adventure all the way!!! I loved it!!! I am so looking forward to more books to come in the new series!!! Great job Terry, you have once again brought us a great story!!!
Happy reading and writing*

I've read and enjoyed Terry's Heart of the Wolf series and her Heart of the Jaguar series. I was absolutely thrilled to see the release of the Heart of the Cougar books because cougars are my favorite wild cats. "Cougar's Mate" is fast-paced and fun read. I loved Shannon's strength both the way she keeps to her morals when dating the "bad boys" and the way she survived as a wild cougar. The connection between Chase and Shannon was intense and "real". With Chase, Shannon found someone as strong as she who'll be a friend, a partner, and a soul mate all throughout life. She knew she could count on him to have her back just as she had his. It was great reading how Shannon comes to trust the Cougar community and to feel as if she finally came home.

Cougar's Mate is a shapeshifter romance with a twist even I didn't expect - Shannon is the cougar shift gone feral in an attempt to save her life while Chase is the cougar who shoots her. A rather humorous mixture of escapes, protectiveness and heated moments follow as Yuma Town (cougar town) join forces to try and convince Shannon that staying is in her best interests. I loved this book! Just like all the 'wolf books that Terry Spear has written, Cougar's Mate includes the best parts of the feral beasts these people shift into. I'm definitely looking forward to reading book two and getting to know more of the large-hearted cougar shifters!

Another Amazing book from Terry Spears, I must say that she gets better and better. This is the story of Shannon that witnessed a murder of her boyfriend by the hands of his brother and then ran away before the brother could kill her. That was over four weeks before she life got flipped by a part time deputy sheriff Chase. Chase was called in when a cougar was seen and saved a boy from drowning but Chase never realized the cougar was in hiding and in their small cougar ran town she was news very quickly. Shannon felt for the guy who traqed her but she also felt the need to run back into the woods to hid. She never expected for Chase to make her feel things she hasn't felt in a long time.

Cougar's Mate (Heart of the Cougar Book 1)

I haven't read any of Terry Spears series before. I'm very impressed. You kept me wanting to
find out what happens next. I love reading Romance novels with adventure added.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Loved reading something different that included Cougar's that are
part human and animal. I'll be read a lot more of these series. Fantastic, exciting, full of action plus Romance.
My kind of Novel.

I have been following this author for several years now. Her books are well written, well edited and have not given me any reason to be disappointed. I have recommended her to quite a few people with happy results. Cougar's Mate is book 1 in a new series. The characters are interesting, people I would enjoy knowing. The story is well paced from beginning to end. If you like her Wolf and Jaguar series, be sure and check out her Cougar's.

Honestly Terry I just love all your shifter series!
Mystery and suspense is not forgotten and just the right amount of romance.
I love that these are not all overblown with sex, that always kind of wrecks a story.
But your's are just right~plus I LOVE shifter series!
I have read all your Wolves, Jaguar's and Cougar's and was well pleased with all of them.
Now we just need to get some of them to cross paths :-) wink, wink!

It was okay

I usually really get into Terry Spears books, but this one... I dunno the relationship between H & h just didn't connect for me...I didn't feel the sparks between them. The book had potent but I guess it was too predictable..I'm still going to read book 2 in hopes it's improved. I think a lot of the problem is I just didn't care much for Chase, for an alpha spec ops guy..he just comes across as a pussyfooting. & I don't mean pussy cat!

I honestly liked this, I just wish there'd been more "mate" stuff than there was. I'm a huge fan of the whole soulmate deal when it comes to books, especially paranormal/fantasy genres, so I feel a little mislead by the title and the fact that there was no mention of mates even being a thing.
Good book, just not what I expected.

Well-paced read

I have read several Terry Spear books and enjoyed them all. I feel she does a better job capturing the wolf characters a bit better but that could be that other shifters are relatively new in literature. This story has a bit of action, some good banter, and some sexy times, making it a fun read.
