LAYTON
Everyone thinks I have it all. The all-American superstar baseball player. The golden boy of Philly. The notorious playboy.
In reality, I’m just a lonely man who knows his career is hanging on by a thread.

Then an opportunity presents itself. My team is sold, and the new owners want to keep me around. The catch? I need to enter into a PR relationship with Arizona Abbott, the rising star of the local softball team. The most beautiful woman I've ever met. As it turns out, she’s my dream come true.

The problem? She's my best friend’s sister.

ARIZONA
After the toughest year of my life, I move across the country to play professional softball with my closest friends, to be near my brother, and to leave my baggage behind.

Needing to focus on my fresh start, I swear off baseball players.

All of them.

In walks Layton Lancaster, the man whose poster hung above my bed as a teen. I’m asked to pretend to date him to save my team and my league. I can’t fall for a man like him again, so I need to keep him at arm’s length.

The problem? My fantasy man isn’t who I thought he was.

Known as the queen of RaunchCom, AK Landow is a spicy RomCom author. She’s a recovering attorney living outside of the Philadelphia area with her husband, who she secretly pined for through her teen years, three crazy daughters, and multiple animals.

She enjoys reading, now writing, drinking copious amounts of vodka, and laughing. Having discovered there’s no other need in the world for funny perverts, she’s thrilled to have this new avenue to channel her age-inappropriate sense of humor.

She began her publishing journey with the City of Sisterly Love series, initially writing the first book, Knight, because it pisses her off that there are so few FMCs over the age of 40. She wrote it as an FU to the romance community to let them know that "oldies" still get it on. She fell so madly in love with both being an author and her fictitious family, that she can't seem to stop writing.

The entire series centers around a group of strong, intelligent, confident, and supportive women. The central family is known for severe cases of oversharing and walking in on each other. Hilarity often ensues.

The Belles of Broad Street series debuted in 2023 with Conflicting Ventures. Indecent Ventures and Unexpected Ventures followed shortly thereafter. The final book in the series, Enchanted Ventures, came out in early 2024. It world shares with the City of Sisterly Love series, but can be read as standalones.

2024 also became the year AK entered the sports romance world. Staying true to her goals of portraying strong women, her debut sports romance novel, Double Play, is both a baseball AND softball romance. It's the first in the Extra Innings series, which is now complete with four full-length novels and a prequel novella.

In 2025, AK is looking forward to diving into the world of women's basketball and men's football. The first book in the Fourth Quarter Fever series will be Home Town Advantage, coming on September 4, 2025.

Her writing is known for laughs, tears, and being one-handed reads.

What do you say when your fav RaunchCom queen writes a sports romance, fyi it's a baseball and softball one! Oh hell yes!! Introducing Layton and Arizona. A men's baseball team and a women's softball team , hello cameos. Back to double play, this one was a killer I mean I ate it up from the get go. Undeniably the chemistry is off the charts for these two who are fake dating to promote the women's softball team under the new management and for PR reasons they ought to be seen together. Well a recipe for some insane fireworks. And boy it was fire!

This story was beautiful after being scorned in love the move to a new city and play ball was just wat Arizona needed and jumped at the chance. What she didn't expect was our man Layton whom she has had a crush on since she was a teenager. Then he sees her, doesn't even ask who she is, but tries to score with her to seemingly add a notch to his belt. But the connection they have is too good to be true. And then immediately for the turn of events he leaves her hanging. Then the next day the owners of her softball team have a request, she has to fake date Layton to get people interested in the game. Something she promised herself she won't ever do in her life again. Will this be the one that pushes her over and is completely taken over by her emotions.
Layton is the one who has come to his end of his career and well you know how it goes. This man is just an alpha cinnamon roll for me, I mean, " hello guy, can I wear your jersey?" He is pure fire n sin and a good guy overall. These two weave such a wonderful story you just want more and more. It's so refreshing to read about couples who are sorted in their minds as to what they want and to what they won't settle for. And AK delivers. And the smexy times in this one , pheww a definite one hand read for sure. Psst "go commando too" saves a lot on laundry. Plus did you catch a certain name!?

AK can do no wrong in anything she writes , hell I don't think she can. The extended gang aka the secondary characters in this book are a hoot and a half. I laughed so hard. There were moments when you just have to have these friends around you all day everyday, and at the same time feel like it's getting too hot. Yes DP 😆 takes you on a a darn ride all day everyday. This is one universe that I never want to end. Can't wait for the rest of the series!!! I already have my favourite!!

Talk about a home run! I'll never look at home plate the same way again... hey Layton, oh haaaay! I'll let you 'round my bases *wink*

Here AK Landow has hit us with her debut sports series "Extra Innings", it's like a baseball / softball crossover event and we are here for it! For all of it. Like omg, how much I'm here for it is slightly disturbing to be honest.

So admittedly I've been an AK fan from her debut novel and have loved her first two series beyond measure, and knowing she's a renowned softball expert in her own right, I was excited when I learned that she was dipping her toe into the sports tropes of contemporary romance writing. I knew she'd bring her hilarious raunch-com and oh-so-naughty characters. And so to say that she did not disappoint with this book would be an understatement! I don't think I've ever cared so much about softball and baseball in my life as I did reading this book. Like, book me season tickets at the nearest baseball and softball teams because HOT-DAWG this is a hot sport... in AK's world at least.

So to the book: this is the story of pro baseball player Layton and pro softball player Arizona. And to say that they are everything and a bag of baseballs is another understatement. Per AK's usual, her characters are funny, smart, beautiful, and talented but further they are deep and complex. And as the story unfolds she begins to peel back the layers to each of them and as we get to know them we learn about the deeper things that make them tick and drive them - for Arizona and Layton this ranges from their childhoods to their current professional careers - and everything in-between. At face value, one might think that they are on the surface and deflect with their comedy and reputations, but as they get to know each other and we get to know them, the depths with which we get to know these two and how they develop their relationship is really what this book is about. Everyone faces challenges in life - all of us - and the challenges that both Arizona and Layton have faced, are facing, and then face together, it really pulls at your heartstrings in so many different ways. For me, AK is one of the funniest authors that I know and have the pleasure to personally know but to read her books, and she never disappoints in her books: her books are hilarious. Her books are also so spicy and somehow she turns up the heat with every new book that she publishes. But after reading each of her books, when I sit here to write a review and reflect on the book that I just read, if you really deep-dive and think about what she just gave you - it's honestly an experience. Most often her characters and their story is a commentary on life and society in some fashion, and she truly does dive deep with so many of her stories, storylines and subplots. Many of her books have touched deep for me personally and touched my heart - sure she's had me laughing out loud and all flushed and bothered and I love that about her books - but honestly? What I love most is the surprising depth with which she brings me to with each one of her books. I say all of this because for me personally, when AK pulls back the layers to Arizona's adult life and what she went through before transferring to Philly and the new team, it just really pulled at me. I felt so deeply for her. Likewise, learning about Layton and his past... it changed my initial reaction and perception of him. And the moment that AK reveals these things to us is the moment that the two of them bond in such a beautiful way... I can't even talk about it without giving more away and I'm all up in my feels about it.

But know this: this book is a home run! I am so excited for this series and for all of the baseball and softball. And I flipping LOVE that AK also defines terms and plays that a non-baseball/softball player might not understand so it really feels like you're (almost) watching the game and you have a better understanding of the depth of the game and characters and what they're doing in that moment. I love every single one of the characters in this book. The spice is always top notch. This book made me laugh, love, cry, and fawn. A million stars for Layton and Arizona! ....Now! Give me Quincy!!!!

"He looks a few years older than me, but his wife is way younger. There must be some daddy issues there."
Holy schnikes!!! This book was out of this world!!! I don't know how A.K. Landow does it, but every book is better than the last one! Double Play is full of sports, fake romance, hilarious conversations between the main characters as well as the side characters, and so much damn spice🥵🥵 There honestly isn't enough 🌶🌶 to express how hot this book was!!! Also, bonus feature it's a double sports book!!! That's right, not one but two sports are featured in this story! We have our main character, Autumn, who's a professional softball player, and Layton, who's a professional baseball player😍🙌 I immediately gasped when I got accepted to read this ARC. Baseball is my all-time favorite sport, Yankees being my favorite team🖤✨️ FYI, you will never look at baseball terms the same 🤣🤣🤣 especially when it comes to Pitcher's Mound🤣🤣🤣🫣🫣 Please read this book when it comes out, you will absolutely not be disappointed!!!

This was a first for me! I have never read a book with baseball and softball combined and holy goodness of all things sports romance- this book!!!! This book….. was so so well written!!

You have a strong female main character who is a boss babe in the softball world! A team player, independent, sexy and just all around amazing!

And then you have my man Layton! He is the epitome of a sexy baseball god & literally the perfect book boyfriend!! He gives so much to the community and he hides behind the bad boy facade. But he is the ultimate team player - in more ways than one!!!

Sooo- When their paths (mc’s) cross in the first part of the book, they are put in a forced proximity/fake relationship situation-ship, that neither of them see coming, which had me on the edge of my seat jonesing for more and more!! I couldn’t wait to see how their story would play out.

And that’s what AK provides….
MORE!!! And it’s fuxin’ delish!
Hey, please Hold my wine while I take a private moment for myself! 🫠😉🤌🏻🌊

The side characters, of this amazing new series, I think might be my absolute fav from any book I have ever read! There are a few from past series of AK’s and some new characters that are absolutely hilariously funny!!! And some spicy scenes that will have your panties melting right on off!!

I laughed my butt off, changed my panties multiple times and had so many swoon moments!! Oops- did I just say that?! 😂

By far one of the top 3 books I have EVER read!!

AK- you are the queen at raunch com!!!!

I want to say so much more but don’t want to spoil a thing for any of you readers 😋

⚾️❤️🥎 Okayyyy, AK Landow, Miss ma’am… 😏 You meant BUSINESS with this one! 🥵🔥Hang on a sec while I fan myself… On with the review… I NEED MORE THAN FIVE STARS!! 😩 “Double Play” is easily one of my TOP reads of 2024! Layton and Arizona’s fake-turned-real-and-hot-AF relationship was EVERYTHING! AK Landow masterfully conveyed her love for baseball and softball in this novel… I felt ALL the emotions: I laughed, I felt genuinely sad for Arizona and Layton at certain points in their relationship… I wanted to throat-punch 👊🏻💢 some of the side characters and wanted to genuinely be friends with the others… 🐆 I had to fan my reddened face during the SPICE… Good grief, y’all… THE SPICE WAS SPICIN’ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and I was here for it! I love that both sports were represented well and that there was such an emphasis on body positivity and female empowerment. If you don’t add this one to your TBR, what are you even doing?!? EXCELLENT read! ⚾️❤️🥎

Layton Lancaster, can there be better book husband material?! Nop!

Double Play is A.K. Landow first sport romance and let me tell you she hit a home run! See what I did there! ;)
And in typical A.K. Landow Raunch-com style, you will find yourself laughing hard, so hard so that you might, definitely, pee your panties a little. (I did… sssshhhhh)
This book is so funny all the characters and incredible, very well-developed and you just want to be their friend and live in their world. It will pull your heart strings at times, especially when you face an MMC that will show you all is doubts and insecurities without ever questioning or blaming the FMC, and that is very sexy.

Also, the hotness and tension that you feel while reading this book will be off the charts.
Tropes:
Sports Romance
Best Friend’s Sister
Fake Dating/PR Relationship
Forced Proximity

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

The golden boy of Philly , the All American superstar that is…Layton Lancaster is….. Some mighty fine and notorious playboy vibes he’s portraying but that’s not how his life is playing . It’s all a con, cause in reality he’s a very lonely man. His career is hanging by a thread …until he catches a lucky break . His team was just sold and the new owners want to keep him around he’s told in no uncertain terms. How come he asks and he has his answer . He’s to be their private dancer. Okay it’s fell in his lap as she’s everything he’s ever wanted , here’s the wrap …shes so off limits it makes him roar when all he wants to do is to score. Arizona Abbott the rising star of the softball team and the catch for remaining on his team. He has to enter into a PR relationship. Arizona hasn’t had it none too pretty either mister high n mighty! She’s had a tough year a doozy all told. So when she’s moved across to play professionally with her close friends , it also pays dividends as it’s near her brother. And that’s all she needs to heal her and help her recover.Keep it real ,her head on her goals. When she’s faced with having to fake date her wet dream, the man adorning her bedroom walls she has to rein it in. Yeah he may be hot as sin ,but she can’t fall for a man like him again. Na ha! But when he isn’t how she first thought him to be in her wild fantasies, she has a mini crises and goes weak at the knees. Now she’s thinking of his wood and it’s frigging awesome and he’s good…as she knew it could be . He sets her free in ecstasy, she don’t want to come down to earth. Him and his big girth spreading her to please and tease her. Sublime storytelling . I’m yelling. More , encore. YES ,YES, YES ! I’ll have some more of that AK Landow , all day every day ,twice on Sunday maybe topped off with a lap of her sundae treat and her feasting on his meat , a real treat I think you’ll agree. Now I’m all wet again! Blow me! This was good! Deliciously HOT it’s got a good plot too , as well as the dance of …ahem sir cum stance. Heaven . But don’t forget the romance ,it sure is swell too with the peeling back the layers that AK piles up so swell too. Both characters have had their troubled pasts and we see them as human beings with deep feelings , who have had a harsh life and we see how this great author turns Arizona’s especially life around . So profound , beautiful and sound . AK , you girl?! Im so glad I’ve found. 😭🥵👏🏻 🌶️🌶️🌶️ love me some spice and this was so frigging nice too !!!!!!

This was a blast. It's no secret that I'm a sucker for a sports romance. What I didn't know I was missing is the FMC being a superstar in her sport, too. I loved watching both Arizona and Layton evolve. My heart sunk at the third act conflict, but I absolutely looooove how that was resolved. I just wish we got a little more of a reaction from it. The little teasers for the side characters and their potential characters had me wanting all the tea, and I'm ready for more!

This book was the perfect read for me. A.K. Landow is becoming my go-to when I need a break from dark romance. It has just the right amount of "awwww" and laughs that get me out of my dark mood. I'll admit I was a little hesitant about reading this because it was a sports romance, but i thought I'd give it a shot because I've loved other books by her, and guess what? I loved this book. It was so freaking hot, too. Just wow!!! This author knows how to write those hot steamy love scenes that get you excited. And it was funny too! Omg I can't count how many times I laughed out loud at this book. If you need a good laugh or a lot of "awwww"s, then you have to read this book!!!!

Chefs kiss. Rating
Spice ... off the charts
Humor and banter... makes you laugh until you cry
I cried a little bit, too.

I laughed out loud, I cried, and I ate it up

Everyone needs this book

EVERYONE NEEDS A LAYTON..
SO BATTER UP !!

Cheetah walks by me and stops, gives me a skeptical look .
"What's wrong with you? You you look like you're in pain.. Are you injured?
I just saw Arizona licking a hotdog.. "I got a pocket rocket situation."
Cheetah starts laughing, " Oh my God," " that's classic."
" OH shit. Now, I've got a purple homewrecker too."

See what I mean. The antics and banter between all the characters.
I love that she involves a lot of them from her other books.

Jade especially. We all know her from Enchanted Ventures along with Amanda and hot , sexy Beckett.
Her (Jade)
Pu$$y juice. Omg !!

I love all the fun filled facts she puts in about softball and baseball.
Things I love learning.
The random facts that were thrown in between them. Especially if one of them were the last one to arrive.

" Did you know the tongue is the strongest muscle in the human body?"
I will never get over the responses.

Then there's Cheetah and his banter with Kam. The comments, the bets between those two. I couldn't stop laughing. I still can't.

Layton and Arizona are a match made in heaven.
Her resistance at first, the fake relationship and their honest to goodness friendship.
What could go wrong??

I so love this book. I can't wait for this series.
Jammed packed with it all.
So, if you're ready for a fun-filled Raunch/Com. This is your book..

I am so glad I came upon AK Landow
She's an amazing author and writer.
She puts her all into everything she writes.
You know how I know that .JUST READ HER BOOKS... YOU'LL SEE.

There was so much about this book I loved!

The cross over with softball, and baseball. How sweet Layton was by coaching the kids league. Arizona’s friendships with her team and the reputation of body positivity with at athletes. The hate to love, with fake dating for press.

There was some things that made this book fall a little short for me.

Overall I did really love this crossover and will be curious to see how the other books play out in this series.

Thank you Hambright PR for the ebook I’m exchange for my review.

Layton, the All American Baseball Superstar, with quite the womanising reputation, meets Arizona, a strong independent woman, and rising star in her local Softball Team. Their teams are bought by characters you will recognise from previous books from AK Landow, who have the idea of pitching them as a “couple” in a pr exercise designed to boost the women’s teams profile. There is an initial apprehension with Arizona, even though Layton was always her childhood crush, as she believes that he is all the things the media say about him, and she simply doesn’t want to be another notch on his bat. However, she sees the side of Layton he keeps hidden, and this sparks some homeruns neither of them saw coming. As always, I love this authors writing, and this book I could not put down. There are some huge laugh out loud moments, that will make explaining to those who may hear you, difficult, and touching, emotional moments, that have you feeling all the feels and not wanting to see the book end. I friggen loved this book.

Having read every single thing that A.K has written, I can confidently say that Double Play is her best book yet! I absolutely loved both characters, and in true A.K fashion, it was super steamy.
The side characters great and I love that throughout the story we get an idea of future pairings for this series.
This is absolutely a standalone book but I would highly recommend reading the previous two series to take full advantage of all the cameos throughout this book.

I love every single character in this book but Layton is straight up amazing and Arizona is one strong chick. I love how AK writes strong female characters and ones who don't put up with a bunch of BS. I love me a feisty female and a man who can handle that. I love even more that softball was included in the book, we need more representation of that....those girls are killer athletes.

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

AK Landow hit a home run with this raunch-com sports romance. I absolutely loved that both main characters played ball with Layton playing baseball while Arizona plays softball. AK Landow did a brilliant job at representing females in sports and certainly knows her baseball. I mean there’s an actual baseball glossary at the start of the book!! Then she goes and throws in the fake dating trope and I was a goner. This book was sexy, funny, and smutty with some super fun side characters, & I LOVED all of them. This book had me laughing at loud several times while reading (Oh Cheetah). Let’s not forget about the spice because DAMN🥵💦home plate and magic potion will never mean the same thing to me EVER again.

So first we’ve got Arizona who’s signed on with a new softball team in hopes to start over in a new place after a crushing breakup. You can tell the breakup set her back and caused her to be a bit more reserved but she still manages to be keep it all together and be a total boss in her world of softball.

Then there’s Layton, the playboy baseball player that lives up to his nickname #layedbylayton, and he’s happy to let the world think what they want of him. After all he’s not concerned or interested in a relationship, baseball is his relationship and he’s trying to figure out how to get signed again for next year.

When both Arizona and Layton are asked to “fake date” in order to push both the girls softball team and help Layton stay with his baseball team it seems like a win win for everyone. (By the way I loved the appearance of past characters from Landow’s books 😉). However the more time they spend with each other they more Arizona realizes that there’s so much more to Layton than just his hashtag, and Layton can’t seem to get Arizona off his mind. So what happens when lines are crossed and blurred but contracts are signed?

This is a MUST READ for 2024, I promise you won’t be disappointed 💋

This is my first book by A.K. Landow, and it did not disappoint. I don't think I've ever read a book about a pro baseball and a pro softball player, and as a former softball player, I loved everything about this book.

A.K. created some great characters. I loved Layton and Arizona together. They had amazing chemistry, and I loved how they supported each other. I also enjoyed the banter between them. Layton is the perfect book boyfriend. He is swoon-worthy and does a lot to help his community behind the scenes. He is there for his family and friends and definitely knows how to treat his woman. Layton always put Arizona first 🥹 Arizona is a boss in the softball world, strong, independent, and beautiful. I loved the secondary characters as well! I need more of Cheetah and Kam!

Double Play has every ingredient of a perfect sports romance -- beautiful athletes, accurate sports references, humor, romance, and lots of spice. THE SPICE WAS SPICIN'🥵 I had so much fun reading this story. A.K. pulled me into the characters' world, and I did not want to leave. I laughed out loud and truly felt the emotional moments. I am excited to read the rest of the Extra Innings series.

Thanks to A.K. Landow for the e-ARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

Baseball & softball players?! YES! YES! YES! This book was everything! Arizona and Layton could set the world on fire with their chemistry. Seriously, is it hot in here?! 🥵🥵

I LOVED that this book was about both Pro Softball and Baseball players. The girl tribe in this book was strong AF and I am dying for the next books in this series. I love how the epilogue gave us glimpses into the next books 😍😍 August can’t come soon enough for book 2!

LAYTON LANCASTER has definitely moved into a top book boyfriend slot. He adored Arizona in all the best ways. Plus, that scene where he takes out her ex, may just be one of my favorites of all time 🙌🙌🙌

Hands down, worth the read if you enjoy baseball or softball romance! 😍😍

𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬:
“Be careful about calling me superstar. I know you think you’re pushing my buttons, but it really just makes my dick dance in delight.”

Whitaker goes down. Hard. I don’t. I stand over him as he gasps for air, drop the ball on his chest like a microphone, and calmly say, “Keep my girl’s name out of your mouth.”

Holy crap I think I have finally entered my baseball romance era and let me tell you......it is a BEAUTIFUL thing! Throw in softball which is a sport that is very near and dear to my heart and you have a grand slam of a story!

Arizona is the catcher for the Anaconda's, the newest softball team in the league and in Philly, which so happens to be where her brother plays baseball with the biggest player of them all- Layton Lancaster. With a reputation known all over Philly, Arizona knows he is bad news. Too bad the owners of her team have other ideas. A fake relationship with Layton was the last thing she wanted to deal with but here she is. Hopefully she can keep him at arms length and keep herself from catching feelings.

Layton is near the end of his career- his knees are hurting and as a catcher those are some of the most important parts of his body. It doesn't help that his contract is up in the air and the former owners of the Cougar's have sold the team and the new owners know all about him and are only willing to extend his contract on one condition- fake date Arizona Abbott to garner support for the Anaconda's softball team. He was instantly attracted to her at the bar the night before so this shouldn't be that difficult right? Too bad he plays with her brother and he finds himself falling for her the more that he is around her.

I loved the chemistry between Arizona and Layton right from the beginning. Their instant attraction jumps right off the page at you and as the reader you know that there is something that is going to happen between both of them at some point. It was really nice to see them build a genuine friendship with each other before the attraction became too much. I loved watching them get to know the more personal sides of each other while they were exploring Philly together to fulfill their obligations to the fake relationship. I think it gave their physical relationship a more real feeling later on in the story and really made me believe in their general attraction and feelings towards each other.

I also really liked the ending of this story. I was 100% predicting a third act breakup and reunion but that was not the case. I think it did a really great job of testing the strength of the relationship between Arizona and Layton and really gave a realistic side to the situation they were in. Add in all of the stuff that Arizona did for Layton to make him fell better and I was crying (that Thanksgiving chapter really did me in). I really liked they they were also able to get their one up on the contract right at the end- really made me smile.

Great start to a new series of books that is like nothing on the market at the moment. I can't wait for the next one. I personally am hoping that it is Qunicy's story because let me tell you, I think I know his secret and I need to know if I am right or not!

I learned so much about baseball & softball from the book, but I also needed to fan myself from the way Layton needed his magical potion & how he proceeded to cover himself in it. This all starts with Layton Lancaster a star baseball player coming to the end of his career whether he wants to or not, but that’s until he gets an offer that grantees him the opportunity he desperately wants. So when he realizes the beauty he left behind at the bar is now his life line to furthering his career, he quickly accepts but it’s also because he is extremely attracted to her in all the ways. Arizona Abbott is one of the best softball players in the league, so when she is approached for this team opportunity she automatically jumps at it to get a fresh start in a different state from her awful past, but when she is also approached about the deal with Layton whom also is her childhood crush, she has some questions but eventually she goes for it. Holy heck I was not prepared for the spice & sexual tension that transpired between these two when it came to that photoshoot & gosh was it worth it. Layton definitely took me by surprise with his personality outside of the game, he definitely was pulling in my heart strings when it came to those kids. I loved the way Layton & Arizona bonded over so much & really fit each other like a puzzle, even when things were hard it was simple act that could bring smiles to each others face even if it was nakedness. When I tell you these two couldn’t keep their hands off each other & the new terminology I learned left me giggling every time I read it. If you like your men who is are obsessed with your “scent” then you will absolutely devour Layton because he is an addict when it comes to Arizona. The way their friends were such a big part of the story was amazing, there are some parts that will have you punching the air like you just won the lottery. I loved these two characters so much & their story was everything you would want with so much plot, steam & spice, don’t worry you will probably cry & smile all in one chapter, I was a rollercoaster of emotions. I can’t wait to see who is next cause I’m all for Quincy, Tanner or even Cheetah!

Ms. Landow has no problem leaving readers panting and figuring out how to reenact some of the more spicy scenes. Her writing is so effortless. Readers will be so immersed in the story, they won't realized that we get a few cameos from characters in her previous series. At least, that is what happened to me. I was shocked when I finally figured it out. I was so into the story of Layton Lancaster and Arizona Abbott that everything else was just filler. Layton and Arizona are forced together after their baseball and softball teams are bought. The owners wanted to lure fans to the women's softball league. The best player on the softball team and the most popular player on the baseball team is bound to drive up the ratings.

Layton knew he liked Arizona from the first meeting. What he did not count on is her being his best friend's little sister. Quincy Abbott did not want his little sister anywhere near any baseball players. She was off-limits. Layton and Arizona had to let him on the scheme cooked up by the owners. They would be spending time together. Quincy had to get with the program. They both agreed to take anything physical off the table despite both being attracted to the other. You know how long that lasts? I will say they stuck to it a lot longer than I thought they would. Nobody including the owners wanted this to go beyond the fake relationship status.

As usual, Ms. Landow's books pack a punch. A fake relationship is just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much going on with this book that involves the players of both teams. They are intertwined. I can't wait to see who readers will get to dive into next. This series is hot and steamy. Just the way I like it.

So, THAT happened! And by “that”, I mean I immediately downloaded Curveball the minute I finished reading Double Play and forgot to come here and do my blogger duties! I mean … *deep breath* why am I like this? Anywho, let’s chat about Double Play.

I enjoy sport romances a lot. When this promotion came up and I read the synopsis, I jumped for two reasons, the sports and the author was new-to-me. I am all about new-to-me experiences. But also, DOUBLE SPORTS!! #winning Can’t really say I’m a huge fan of the sibling friend trope because my experience has been that it’s almost always written with way over the top circumstances revolving said friend and it makes me #twitchy because I just don’t get why your sibling would get all up in arms if you fall in love with their friend. I mean it's bananas to me. But whateves, it happens, so here we are LOL

ALL that being said, I am super excited to get to know AK Landow’s work in the future. This woman knows how to grow characters and relationships. She knows how to move a story forward with purpose. She does not OTT and very much focuses on the romance journey, but also, the growth of the characters. I am impressed. All of this is wrapped up in some serious ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥heat❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 and we all know how much I love THAT! Honestly, this story (and also Curveball) is #winning from every angle you can think of and it was a pleasure to get lost in AK’s words for a few days! I highly recommend it :)

If you’re looking for a hilarious book with lots of spice, you found it! Plus all the tropes! Sports romance (professional softball/players), brother’s best friend/ best friend’s sister, fake dating, forced proximity, secret relationship (because we all know that fake dating in books never really ends up being fake in the end, amiright?), found family. Strong, independent FMC. Cinnamon roll MMC.
Layton, the star catcher of the Cougars and ever the bachelor, finds himself in a conundrum. He is aging out of the game and is desperate to keep playing. Arizona just transferred to a brand-new softball team, the Anacondas. She’s excited to start her new journey after a rough year, and is looking forward to being in the same town as her brother (who happens to be Layton’s best friend and the star pitcher for the Cougars). In order to drum up more interest in the new softball team, the new owners offer a solution: pretend to date. But how long until it becomes real?
This is seriously one of my favorite reads of the year so far! And I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I played softball, or that I now coach both baseball and softball teams for my local Little League. Lol! But seriously, it’s been a while since I actually literally laughed out loud while reading a book, and I couldn’t stop while reading this one! Add the SUPER spicy scenes and the friends that turned into family, and I was a goner! Definite must-read!!

This was such a good book! This was my first book by the author and I can’t wait to read more.

Layton and Arizona have amazing chemistry! I just loved their relationship. I loved how Arizona could not stand Layton at first but after getting to know him she realized he was different than she thought he was. They had the best banter. Layton is the perfect book boyfriend. I loved that he was all in for Arizona and would do anything for her and put her first.
The spice was so good!!

I also enjoyed the friend’s group! I really liked Cheetah and Kam and I cannot wait to see what happens with Quincy and Ripley.
