Every time you read a book by this author you fall in love with the characters. It's like being at home in the amish community.
In this story, we have different types of amish folks . But no matter everyone helps. Even when sometimes it's not something you normally would do. Because that's the amish way. But it's the right way. helping out.
What's not to love amish books are simply the sweetest. And patricia, john writes some simply amazing stories. I loved everything about this story as I have every book I have read of hers.
Sleigh bells and Amish people. Go together really well.
This is the sweetest story! If you like forbidden romance and friends to lovers tropes, this one is a great read for you! Plus, this is an Amish/Christian Romance that takes place at Christmas! Which I absolutely love!
In this story, Thad, a veterinarian from out of town, is sent to work in another Amish community temporarily. This new community is an Old Order Amish community, where as he comes come the Beachy Amish group. While the two are very different, they can work together. And he was permitted to stand in and help. Lydia, a local Amish woman, is sent to help Thad navigate the community and the rules. But as they spend more and more time together they find they may want more than a friendship... but there is no future for them. They are from two different worlds, and their worlds aren't permitted to marry. Can they just go on with their lives knowing they found the one for them... but can't be with them? If she can't have her, would he want to see her around town courting and marrying someone else?
This is a sweet Christmas romance. A very forbidden romance. And yet a story that had me really admiring both main characters... their values, their relationship with God, and just how they handled all that was being thrown at them.
This is very much a slow burn romance. So you may find yourself needing to be patient waiting on Lydia and Thad to show feelings, and admit those feelings.... but once they do.. things will heat up and it's a page turner! Patricia writes some of the sweetest romances, and you don't want to miss this one!
I received a complimentary copy. But this review reflects only my opinion.
AMISH SLEIGH BELLS by Patricia Johns An Uplifting Inspirational Romance They’re worlds apart. Can love unite them? Spending yet another Christmas without a husband isn’t something Lydia Speicher is looking forward to this season. Helping the new veterinarian, Thad Miller, navigate his way around the local farms is a welcome distraction, despite the Beachy Amish man’s shocking customs. But when Lydia accidentally crashes Thad’s truck and he’s forced to borrow her family’s sleigh, liberal Thad must live the conservative Old Order way of life until it’s fixed. Lydia and Thad couldn’t be more different, but while working together highlights their similarities, are they willing to change for love? This is Lydia Speicher and her parents' story. This is Dr.Thad Miller's story. The wind howled outside the window, whistling past the house in a shimmer of icy, blowing crystals that glittered in the watery December sunlight. Inside the house, all was toasty warm, though, with the stove pipe pinging merrily, and the logs in the black potbellied stove snapping and popping. Lydia Speicher pushed a steaming mug of black coffee across the worn, scratched wooden tabletop toward her father, who had his arms crossed irritably over his chest. “The bishop says that Thad Miller is an Amish man who needs our help,” she said. “And I agreed to help him.” He’s Beachy Amish. This man is a large animal vet in our community, and he needs help finding the farms he’s servicing.” Beachy Amish drove cars and trucks, they had electricity in their homes, and stopped short at TV and radio. They even had internet, although it was limited. The man looked around, spotted them in the window, and raised his ungloved hand in a wave. “Good morning!” he called in perfect Pennsylvania Dutch. “I’m Thad Miller. The bishop said there was someone named Lydia who could guide me around these back-country roads. Is she home?” “I’m Lydia,” she said. I recommend this book. AMISH SLEIGH BELLS by Patricia Johns is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Patricia Johns . I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Amish Country Matches Book 1: The Amish Matchmaking Dilemma Book 2: Their Amish Secret Book 3: The Amish Marriage Arrangement Book 4: An Amish Mother for His Child Book 5: Her Pretend Amish Beau Book 6: Amish Sleigh Bells From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
I am very excited to recommend an exciting new book, Amish Sleigh Bells, by Patricia Jones. Release day is November 26, 2024.
Ms. Johns brings together two very different Amish people. Lydia Speicher an Old Order young woman and Thad Miller, a member of the Beachy Amish who is the new vet helper for the community. As Lydia and Thad work together , they learn about the differences in these two Amish groups, and we get to be informed about the differences also. These two are so unique in their own right that you can’t help pulling for them to get together. The question is, how could they possibly come to an acceptance of each other in order to become more to each other.
As the story unfolds, the characters are so realistic that you feel part of the story. I loved each and every one of them.
The storyline moves seamlessly and the excitement causes each of us too be excited to turn the next page.
You need to order yours today. Truly a wonderful addition to this year‘s Christmas stories.
I was given an ARC by the author, but was not asked to give a positive review. It is a pleasure to give this book 5 stars, and to serve on the launch team. All opinions are mine alone.
Amish Sleigh Bells by Patricia Johns is a beautifully-written Christmas story. It is the story of Thad, a young Beachy Amish man, who is a veterinarian and Lydia, an Old Order Amish woman. Lydia is a big helper in her community anytime someone is in need and the Bishop requests that she assist Thad when he comes to their community to care for the animals on various farms. An innocent mistake causes damage to Thad’s truck and while it is being repaired, Lydia has a chance to show him a little more about her way of life which is a little slower paced than that of the Beachy Amish. Thad is faced with new opportunities for his career so he has a decision to make. Despite their differences, Lydia and Thad are drawn to each other. Even though they have different backgrounds, you can’t help but root for them to be a couple. Will they end up together? You’ll have to read the book to find out! I highly recommend this book! Patricia Johns is a very talented author. This was a truly inspiring book and a reminder to let God lead us in all things. Oh, and the title was perfect! I was excited to voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own. #AmishSleighBells #LoveInspired #LoveInspiredAmish
Being asked by the bishop, Lydia Speicher agrees to help the new veterinarian, an Amish man, Thad Miller by showing him around her community. She quickly learns all Amish are not alike. She is Old Amish and Thad is Beachy Amish. He drives a truck and wants her to learn to drive it as well in order to help him when he goes on a call. Lydia is hesitant but agrees to at least try. On their first farm visit, she learns quickly that was not a good idea. After running into a hole, the truck is in need of repair. Her dad agrees to loan Thad a horse and buggy while his truck is in the shop but Lydia will need to teach him how to use the horse and buggy. Lydia and Thad begin to enjoy each others company but their beliefs are so different. Thad had been given two job opportunities. One is the job he has always dreamed about and the other would mean he would be working near the community where Lydia lives. Which job will he take or will the be able to work around their belief differences?
It is rare to read a book that flows along so smoothly and easily as Amish Sleigh Bells. Captivated from page one, I had a hard time putting it down until I finally finished it – 48 hours later. Lydia and Thad are a lesson in trusting God for what they think He is holding back from them. Amid fun winter sleigh rides and treating their neighbors’ animals, they learn to hope and let God take the reins. Although slightly predictable, I truly didn’t care. This was such a pleasurable book to read, and I didn’t want it to end. Patricia Johns has a way of taking a simple story and turning it into something special. Don’t miss this one. It’s the sweetest Christmas story you will read this year. *I received a complimentary copy of this e-book courtesy of the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thad Miller is Beachy Amish and also a veterinarian. He has to go to an Old Order Amish community and fill in for the vet there. Their vet is going to be out of town for awhile. Lydia Speicher is a young old order Amish lady. She agrees to help Thad get around the area and show him around. He's from out of town and isn't familiar with the area. She also works along side him. As time goes on and they get to know each other better. They begin to get feelings for each other. But how is that going to work out? Since they are both from different Amish groups? Will they be able to work something out or move on? You will need to read the book to find out.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was such a sweet Christmas story. Iam looking forward to reading more books from this author.
Book 6 in the Amish Country Matches, Amish Sleigh Bells can be read as a standalone but all of them are good so I recommend reading them.
Definitely not your typical Amish Christmas story, I couldn’t help but laugh when Lydia crashes Thad’s truck. Why was she driving it? (You’ll have to read to find out.)
Thad and Lydia come from different worlds, but aren’t really that far apart. They are both great characters that I came to love. And the secondary characters were equally as enjoyable. And a bit rascally, which added to the fun. Lydia is fixed on remaining Old Order Amish. Thad is fixed on remaining Beachy Amish. Can they ever work out their differences?
If you enjoy Christmas Amish stories with sweet, clean romance then I recommend Amish Sleigh Bells.
This is the 6th and final book in the Amish Country Matches series but it can be read as a standalone book.
This tells the story of Lydia Speicher an Old Order Amish woman and Thad Miller who is Beachy Amish and a new vet that came to the community to fill in while the regular vet is away on holidays.
The bishop of Lydia’s church asks her to help Thad out finding places he needs to go. Along the way they both find out what the differences are in each of the Amish groups.
They both let God direct their paths which keeps them together.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. The review expressed here is my honest opinion.
Lydia and Thad's story is such a lovely, touching story. First of all, these two are wonderful characters. Each one has such a caring heart and attitude. Each one also has a strong commitment to their faith in God. And each one has a heart that longs for more in life. While those things are commonalities in them, one thing separates them and makes it seem like anything more than friendship is an impossibility. That one thing keeps rearing its head at them no matter what their hearts tell them. How does it all work out? Reading the story is the only way to find out. And trust me on this: when you do, you won't be disappointed. It is just that good.
I loved this sweet story by Patricia Johns. She is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint. All the characters were well written and realistic. I especially loved Lydia, she was such a sweet, refreshing character. I also liked the setting of the story, it seemed like a place I would want to visit. I found the story of Thad and Lydia to be heartwarming and inspiring. I hope to read more about them in the future. If you like Amish fiction you will love this book. I received a complementary copy of this book and under no obligation to post a positive review.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Patricia Johns has done it again! When you read one of her books, you never want to put it down. Lydia Speicher is a single, good Amish woman. She gets tasked to help the new vet, who’s Beachy Amish, with his patients. They are worlds apart yet so close together. Can a couple who are so different find a way to be together? This sweet story shows you that God always knows best! This book will get you in the Christmas spirit.
READ THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE… Opposites attract Sweet holiday romance Slow burn
This such a great book. Two people, two totally different lifestyles. Can they love each other enough to compromise. You should definitely read this book. I loved the young woman is so deeply into her faith, but still fell in love with a different but similar religion.
This was a great story with great characters and talked about the difficulties in some of the Amish communities and that they have there hard ships they have to deal with like everyone else.
I have finished this series. If you have not read them. You are in for a treat. I love books by Patricia Johns. The books I have read, are left in the laundry room of my building for others to enjoy.
Lydia Speicher is a helpful, generous Old Order Amish woman deeply committed to her faith. Thad Miller pushes the envelope of his more progressive Beachy Amish religion - including attending college to become a veterinarian. When Thad accepts a position as a veterinarian in Lydia’s community, the Bishop assigns her to show Thad around and accompany him on his calls.
This sweet, quick read will leave you enthralled from the beginning. Even though they are both Amish, Lydia and Thad’s religions are very different. Thad goes to college and drives a truck. Lydia uses a horse and buggy and didn't get beyond the eighth grade. When you pick up a romance you know that the two main characters are your happy ending but I was on pins and needles wondering who was changing religions. And at what cost?
I could relate with Thad quite easily, being conflicted with drive and passion but also wanting to ensure it doesn’t overshadow the more important things in life. That is such a hard balance and Thad’s struggle was real. And as a fiber artist, Lydia’s crochet joy had me hooked.
Ms. Johns gets so much credit for making this Grinch tear up multiple times. The connections to God, family, and faith were so deep that I could not help it. It all came together so well and with so much thought and care. If you haven’t read an Amish romance but love holiday romances, this would be a great book to dip your toes into the Amish genre. For those who already love Amish romances, you will love this – Christmas time or not. Because, as you will feel when you read this – faith, love, and happiness are available to you year-round.
