Rediscovering Christmas is my first introduction to Mindy Obenhaus' writing. While this book is the sixth in the series, it easily stands alone.

Tori has had to deal with quite a bit of loss, but the loss of her house sends her spiraling over the edge. She is mad at God and the world. It's a lot for one person to handle, but thankfully she has a Micah in her corner.

Micah is Tori's best friend and has been since they were young. He has also been in love with Tori for about as long. He suppressed his feelings to not lose her friendship, and then she married his brother. Now that she is a widow, Micah is still suppressing his feelings while being the best friend that Tori needs him to be.

This story is perfect for the Christmas season. Tori's struggles are relatable, yet the story portrays that no matter how mad we get at God, and how broken we feel, there is hope for healing and beauty from the ashes. God wasn't finished with Tori and He is not finished with us either. No matter how hard the seasons get, God has a plan for us. It's not on our timetable, but His. Just as Tori rediscovered her Christmas spirit, and the true meaning of Christmas, I have hope that we can also rediscover the wonder of Christmas this year.

Thank you to the author and JustRead Publicity for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

This series has been fantastic! You can pick up any of these books and enjoy them as stand alone novels or you could dive into the Hope Crossing series and see how all of these couples found each other.

Rediscovering Christmas tackled some tough topics as Tori, who has lost a lot in the last few years, found herself without a home due to a wildfire. She still had her son, her friends, and her in-laws, but she ended up finally hitting her breaking point. Part of this story dealt with Tori hurting so much that she began blaming God for all she had lost and stepping away from her faith.

The other thread that ran through this book was an unrequited love story for Micah. He grew up as best friends with Tori and fell for her in high school. Yet, she was swept off her feet and married his brother. Even though she was widowed years earlier, Micah doesn’t think he will ever gain her love and feels forever placed in the friend zone.

I loved how supportive Micah was for Tori and her son, Aiden. He was there for them for years in any way they needed. This story had a great friends to more trope that was even a bit more complicated when you throw in the brother’s widow scenario. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and all of the books in the Hope Crossing series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

"Rediscovering Christmas" by Mindy Obenhaus packs a powerful Christian message in this Love Inspired Christmas book. Tori's home burns in a wildfire at the beginning of this book. It's just one more loss in a string of losses over the last several years. She rails at God over this most recent loss and has given up her faith.

Her son is the only thing she feels she has left. She finds a home with her mother-in-law and brother-in-law after the fire. As the story goes on she has friends and family along the way that remind her of God's steadfastness and promises. Preparations for the Christmas season are a part of the story but not the entire story.

There is a sweet romance in the book and this has all the Hallmark/Great American Family Christmas movie type feels. If you are looking for a sweet, faith-filled Christmas Christian fiction book, check this one out this season.

I received an ARC of this book however all opinions expressed are my own.

I absolutely love books by this author and she is on my must read list. I have to say I would have wanted to read this even if it was a new author just by the look of the cover. It is so pretty and eye catching. This is book six in the Hope Crossing series though you do not have to have read the others to fully enjoy this one. They also do not have to be read in order. This book is a great example of someone who has been through a lot in life and is struggling with their faith but whose faith is renewed in the end. It is also the epitome of Christmas and will get you in the spirit. All of the characters in this book are amazing. It is such a well written novel that it was hard to put down.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.

A heartfelt story of renewed faith, falling in love, family bonds, and discovering pure joy . . .

A young widow and now single mother, Tori Stallings is trying to make the best of her recent move back to her hometown. She and her son, six-year-old Aiden, were welcomed with open arms by her late husband's family; and Aiden is thriving spending time with his grandmother and Uncle Micah.

Tori inherited her family home, and she's been working on rehabbing the house before her job as a teacher begins in a few weeks. Unfortunately, she experiences another traumatic event when her home burns to the ground in a fast-moving wildfire.

As one might expect, Tori's heart plunges into a very dark place, and her anger causes her to turn back on the Lord—in a very public way. Although she paints on a brave face, she basically withdraws from everyone and everything. She quits going to church and resists her friends who reach out to help her through this difficult time.

Micah Stallings, the younger brother of Tori's late husband, is a stand-up guy. He and Tori were best friends from the time they were children until they were teens. When his older brother, Joel, swept Tori off her feet at age nineteen, Micah was devastated. Later, when he observed how poorly Joel treated Tori after their marriage, Micah harbored bad feelings toward his brother.

Through kindness, patience, and persistence, Micah is able to draw Tori out of her funk and nurture their friendship into something much more. She begins to realize that her life is not over and allows the hope of a future with Micah and Aiden to take root in her heart. Her dream is shattered when Micah begins to withdraw.

Fans of this genre will enjoy the vibrant personalities living in Hope Crossing, the close-knit community and family-feeling of the entire town, the strong faith thread, and the personal growth and rekindled faith experienced by Tori.

This book is completely clean in language and content. I received a copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shred here are solely my own.

Thank you in advance to the author, Mindy Obenhaus, for providing a complimentary review copy through JustRead Publicity Tours. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.

As a long-time fan of the author, as soon as I see one of her books, it goes on my TBR stack. And, especially when it takes place in my home state of Texas – whether or not the town is fictional.

This is the sixth, and final visit, to Hope Crossing, Texas.

While we’re saying goodbye to our favorites, we will get to see another character get their happily-ever-after. It wouldn’t be a romance book if they didn’t. As a lot of characters from the previous books appear and/or are mentioned, I HIGHLY and STRONGLY recommend reading the previous books in the series. Some events from the previous books might be mentioned.

Readers of the previous books will be happy to see and/or hear about what’s going on in the lives of:

📺 Gloriana (The Cowgirl’s Redemption – book #1)
📚 Jillian (Her Christmas Healing – book #4)
🐕‍🦺 Aggie (Jillian’s service dog)
🏫 Alli (Loving the Rancher’s Children – book #3)
🥼 Gabriel
🚓 Brady
👨🏻‍🦳 Hank (Brady’s dad)
🎄 Annalise and Hawkins (A Christmas Bargain – book #2)

Along with their children.
This story features:

🏫 Tori
👦🏻 Aiden
🚒 Micah
👩🏻‍🦳 Peggy (Micah’s mother; involved with Hank)

Like most of her stories, Obenhaus not only tells an emotional and inspiring tale, but they can also cause some tears, as well as trigger points. This one resonated more so with me, too much at times. I’m used to giving trigger warnings for others – this is the first time I have needed them for myself.

And, this is EXACTLY why I put them in my reviews. Stories can unleash a torrent of emotions and/or be so closely related to events in our lives that it’s hard to view the book objectively to focus on the story’s lesson.

I recently lost my mother (November 9th), and like Tori – I too face losing my home. Only I’ll end up homeless. I have no resources to pay or move. I’ve been where I am for 16 years, and really have no place to go. It’s become about the only “safe place” I know. Seeing Tori lose her home in a wildfire was traumatic. She also thinks about the items she loses – one that resonated with me – the special Christmas ornaments.

In addition to the death of a parent, Tori is also a Gold Star wife so there is a military death, resulting in her being a single mom. Quite a few trigger warnings to get through.

Obenhaus starts right off with the worst – Tori heading home only to find her home in the path of a wildfire. A home she subsequently loses. This is on top of losing her mother as well as her husband.

While the town rallies around her and her young son Aiden, the last thing she wants is more “platitudes”. She, at one point, storms off after saying “if this is God’s best for me, then I’m done with Him”.

Aiden is confused about his mother’s attitude, though his Uncle Micah is there to help him. And, it’s clear the boy adores his uncle. Micah is the only father figure Aiden has known, and even wants Micah as his father.

Micah is not only a teacher, but a volunteer firefighter. He is awaiting his own news – a position teaching at TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field. For Micah, firefighting isn’t a job, it is a calling. Though it would take him away from Tori and Aiden.

Seeing how far from her faith Tori is after the wildfire, Micah works hard to bring her back. Though he has his work cut out for him. What helps is his emotional connection and lifelong friendship with Tori. A connection that is developing into more than just a brother-in-law relationship, though he seems to think Tori only loved his late brother Joel.

Tori is mad at God – who can blame her? (I couldn’t). But, for her son’s sake, she tries to curb her own disappointment.

On a different note, she’s beginning to feel more than just “in-law” love for Micah, but thinks he doesn’t feel that way. She’s glad he has been there for her.

Their friendship is what remains solid, though Tori can’t help but see that Micah has always been there, while her late husband Joel seemed more in search of hero worship.

Micah will do anything to get Tori back into her faith.

Though the more time the two spend together, the more their friendship begins to blur lines. Everyone around them begins to see it as well.

Tori is also wondering how to rebuild her life and create new memories when she misses the old ones.

Obenhaus once again tackles tough and realistic issues inside a beautiful story of redemption and a greater good.

That said …

This book became a tad more emotional than I anticipated. And, at times, it was difficult to read. I truly identified with Tori when it came to faith. I’ve been told to trust in the Lord, like Tori – a lot of good that has done me. And, yes – I’ve said the same thing she did. There were times we could’ve been friends, if not sisters with our similarities. Also, like her – I love Christmas, and it is my favorite holiday. I knew the emotions Tori was feeling about losing special Christmas ornaments.

As I am going to put up the tree for the final time in my home, seeing those special ornaments on the tree, it’s going to be a bittersweet and overwhelmingly emotional feeling.

While reading this book, I was fighting tears. I lost the battle when the author wrote in a song by the Christian duo For King and Country (Luke and Joel Smallbone). Earlier this year I was blessed with a free movie ticket to see Unsung Hero, the movie about the Smallbone family which also focused on their sister Rebecca St. James. I saw it the day before my birthday (4/28).

This book became very personal the more I read it.

Unlike Tori, I don’t know what will happen in my case. Just like she didn’t like the tentacles of uncertainty, I don’t either. It is overwhelming.

This is the perfect ending to the series. Obenhaus wraps up all of the characters’ stories perfectly, even expanding on a few. I still need to read A Christmas Bargain, the second book in the series.

Like the author, I’m sad to say goodbye to the residents of Hope Crossing. Though, I will be looking forward to the author’s next series and the characters we will be meeting.

Rediscovering Christmas, by author Mindy Obenhaus, brings us back to Hope Crossing, TX, and what a joy it is to be here. Friends from the precious books in this series make appearances, which I always love. Just note that you absolutely can read this as a stand-alone…but why? (Insert wink here.)
Tori Stallings is a widowed mother to a young son. After a terrible forest fire that takes her home, well, it’s the last straw for her. Just how much does the Lord expect her to endure?
Micah Stallings has been her best friend for years, and he’s her brother in law. Micah has been there for Tori and Aidan since day one, and he’ll do anything for them.
Now, with Tori and Aidan staying with him and his mom, they are closer than ever. Does he dare hope she might have the feelings for him that he has for her? Or would just see him as a “Joel-replacement”? Plus what about her relationship with the Lord?
You will want to find out what happens! The author so clearly, yet so gently, reminds us of the One who we need to look to in all circumstances, not just when things are going our way. Plus, we all know I love an epilogue, and this one is like a prettily wrapped present under the Christmas tree.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Tori has been through a lot. She has not only lost her parents and her husband in the past few years, now a wildfire has taken her home and all her earthly possessions. Now she and her six-year-old son must start over. How and does Tori have the hope to begin anew again?

Micah Stallings has been secretly in love with and caring for Tori and his nephew for quite some time. Now due to desperate circumstances, Tori and her son must move in with Micah and his mom. How is Micah going to handle Tori being even closer when he needs to keep his feelings tramped down?

Tori depends on Micah more than she knows. He has been her best friend for so long and he has always been the shoulder she could cry on. Now with her life thrown into a tailspin again, it is Micah who lifts her up and encourages her again in her faith walk. It is Micah who is the father figure her little boy so desperately needs. Are these feelings she has for Micah, ok? What will her mother-in-law say? Can she admit them to herself first than to Micah?

This was a bittersweet read of one womans desperate desire to give her son a stable life, even when everything seems stacked up against her. This was also Micah's story and his chance at a love that he thought he had lost. Their family story and the story of their romance was one that really delved into the what If's and the should We's. Can both of these two let the past go and not only rediscover Christmas, but the hope and love of a life together? Sweet story.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Another book in the Hope Crossing series, author Mindy Obenhouse brings to life a story of struggle and lost faith turned to hope and new belief. A sweet Hallmark-style romance, readers will fall in love with Tory and her son, Aiden as they struggle together with the hardships life have dealt them and try to rekindle faith and belief in God and pick up the pieces. After the death of his brother, Micah is also a key element in helping and leading Tory back to her faith. A beautiful and fresh rebirth story that’s perfect for Christmastime.

time for one last trip to hope crossing, texas for the holidays!

when a wildfire destroys her home, tori stallings is sure that God has something against her. after losing her parents, her husband, and now, her house, plus all her belongings, she's struggling to understand how He could love her. her brother-in-law micah can't bear to see tori—and her son, aiden—flounder and determines to help her rebuild, especially as christmas approaches. but can he keep his unrequited feelings in check while he does so?

rediscovering christmas is a heartfelt story. there are lots of tough emotions with which to grapple, as tori loses faith and finds again, as micah takes on a fatherly role for his nephew, but believes he's not deserving of the love he craves. amidst the hard moments, though, there are plenty of sweet ones. beauty can be found among the ashes, and joy can still be found in celebrating christmas when hope seems to be lost.

readers of the series, too, will enjoy seeing all the hope crossing characters throughout this final book. it's so sweet to see how far they've all come, while supporting, tori, aiden, and micah through their challenges.

if you need a quick read and love contemporary romance set during the holidays, check out rediscovering christmas.

(i received a complimentary copy from the publisher. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)

considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: strong faith themes, mentions of God, church, and prayer
—content: loss of family member, wildfire, loss of house

What a wonderful book! There's hardship and pain, but there's also hope and love! I enjoyed the Christmas theme; it brought many special moments to mind! I also found the faith aspect very inspiring and encouraging!

The characters are written brilliantly! I found myself deeply invested in their lives and how their stories would play out. Micah's character gave me a lot to think about. He lived out his faith, and it was evident to everyone around him.

There are two sweet love stories! Tori certainly deserves a second chance at happiness and love!

Rediscovering Christmas is the fifth book in the Hope Crossing series. I had not personally read all of the previous books in the series and found I was able to enjoy this one just fine as a standalone.

Right from the start, this story absolutely drew me in as we see Tori- who has already been through so much heartache- lose her home in a fire leaving her questioning God. I think this is sadly an experience that many can find themselves relating to and I loved the way it played out in this story with such a beautiful message of faith. She also finds her feelings towards her brother-in-law (who had been her best friend since they were young) start to change as she spends more time with him in the same home. Honestly, a romance between a widow and her brother-in-law has the potential to be an absolute disaster... but the author did such a great job with their story. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it worked for their story, and I found myself rooting for these two to get their happily ever after. It was definitely a slow burn, but so perfect for their story. This is a beautiful story of healing, love and faith and one perfect for the holiday season.

Grab a mug of cocoa and let this book remind you of the hope that Christmas—and Christ—brings.

When I opened Rediscovering Christmas by Mindy Obenhaus, I could almost hear the soft strains of carols and feel the warmth of a crackling fire. This story is a heartfelt reminder of the beauty of God’s faithfulness, even when life feels like ashes.

Tori Stallings’ journey is both raw and relatable, capturing the human struggle to trust God when the storms—and wildfires—of life rage. What struck me most was how honestly Mindy portrayed Tori’s wrestling with her faith. She didn’t sugarcoat the doubts or the anger, which made Tori’s eventual rediscovery of God’s love all the more poignant.

And then there’s Micah. Steadfast, selfless, and carrying a quiet strength that anchors this story. Micah’s unwavering commitment to Tori and her son Aiden is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love—patient, sacrificial, and healing. It’s impossible not to root for him, even as he navigates his own complex emotions.

The Christmas setting adds an extra layer of meaning, weaving a message of hope and redemption through every twinkling light and evergreen bough. As the snow falls in Hope Crossing, so do walls of doubt and fear, leaving space for new beginnings and rekindled faith.

This book wasn’t just a cozy read; it was a spiritual nudge. Tori’s struggle reminded me that it’s okay to bring our brokenness to God—He’s never surprised, and He’s always ready to redeem. Micah’s kindness served as a reminder of the power of loving others through their pain – patiently - even when it’s messy.

If you’re looking for a Christmas novel that blends romance, faith, and the quiet miracle of second chances, Rediscovering Christmas is it. Mindy Obenhaus has penned a story that feels like wrapping yourself in a blanket of grace. It’s a gift that I’ll treasure, and I hope you will too.

I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the story’s content ensuring transparency and reliability.

REDISCOVERING CHRISTMAS by Mindy Obenhaus is the sixth book in the Hope Crossing series. It’s the delightful story of Tory, a young widow who is finding it hard to find a reason to believe, and Micah, her brother-in-law who is determined to show her that there is.

Tory Stallings moved back into her childhood home as a young widow with a young son and after the passing of her parents. She was just beginning to find some peace and deciding to make this home her own by putting her own personal touches on it. Returning home with painting supplies, she finds her home is in the path of a runaway wildfire. Given only minutes to collect what precious possessions she can grab, she’s forced to leave knowing this may be the last time she’ll get to see the home that holds so many memories. She begins to feel that God’s forgotten her as he’s taken everything dear to her away – except her son. With a shaken faith, she’s even turned her back on attending church services.

Micah Stallings really hated to give the news to Tory that more than likely she’d lose her home to the fire. However, he was glad he was there to give her what comfort he could. He’d lost his heart to her years ago, but when his brother swooped in and asked her to marry him, he did the only thing he could do – he stepped back. Even after his brother’s death, he still believes that line is there not to be crossed, but he’s sure going to continue do anything within his power to help her and to make her happy. While his brother was out for show and the glory, it was he that was there for Tory when her son was born (a child he loves as much as if he was his own) and when her parents died, when his brother couldn’t bother to get a leave of absence and come home. Now he will try to help her pick up the pieces and to rebuild her life, but can he do it and keep his heart from being severely damaged? More important than his heart is bring Tori back to her faith. Can he show her what all she’s blessed with and take the hurt out of what she’s lost?

Tori had always considered Micah her friend, but the more time she spends with him and sees his caring for both for her and her son, she begins to see him in a new light. She wonders if the feelings are just one sided and dares not to endanger their friendship but trying to find out. Aiden, her six-year-old son, doesn’t have a problem with that. Micah is the only father figure he’s ever known. He would like nothing better than for Micah to his dad and says so. Is it possible that this group - the mother of Aiden, the man who loves Aiden as his son and Aiden - could possibly become a real family? There are many hurdles to overcome and emotions to get through. Is it possible that the holidays could bring everyone the best present of all?

REDISCOVERING CHRISTMAS is a magnificent Christmas story that will have you unable to put it down as you explore the world of Tori, Aiden and Micah – their past, present and possible future. You’ll fall in love with a little boy who seems to know what’s best for everyone without going through all trials of the others. Mindy Obenhaus wraps it with a thread of faith reminding us that all things are possible through Him because He is the answer. The sweet growing romance will touch your heart and reminds us that sometimes love takes time, rough bumps in life and willingness to take a chance to materialize. REDISCOVERING CHRISTMAS is positively FIVE STAR reading! I highly recommend it to everyone for not only Christmas reading, but reading for any time of the year. Although part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone book as are all the books in the series. However, after reading one, I’m sure you will want to search out the other books to read too.

I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.

Rediscovering Christmas by Mindy Obenhaus
An Uplifting Inspirational Romance
She feels she’s lost everything…
Will love give her hope?
When a wildfire destroys her home, widowed schoolteacher Tori Stallings finds herself unexpectedly living with her mother- and brother-in-law—and struggling with her faith. With everything Tori owns consumed by the blaze, Micah vows to help his late brother’s wife and son rebuild their lives. The two of them have always been friends, but living under the same roof has their friendship turning into something more. Can love bloom amid tragic loss and shaken beliefs, and give them a fresh start for Christmas?
This is Tori Stallings and son Aiden's story.
This is her brother-in-law Micah’s story.
This is her mother-in-law, Peggy, and her boyfriend, Hank’s story.
Tory Stallings moved back into her childhood home as a young widow with a young son and after the passing of her parents. She was just beginning to find some peace and deciding to make this home her own.
Micah Stallings, the younger brother of Tori's late husband, is a stand-up guy.
Tori and Micah had been best friends for many years.
Tori Stallings could hardly wait to get home Sunday afternoon. The two gallons of airy blue-gray paint tucked in the back seat of her Ford Escape would soon coat the walls of her newly renovated kitchen, the perfect complement to the white cabinets and marble-look, solid-surface countertops that had been installed just before school had started almost a month ago.
Her phone rang and when Micah’s name appeared on her dash, she promptly answered. “Micah? What’s going on with that fire?”
“Where are you?”
“A few minutes from my house.” She spotted flashing lights up ahead. “What’s happening?”
“I’ll meet you as quick as I can.”
“Where—” The line went dead.
Seconds later, it came to a stop and Micah emerged from the passenger side wearing his own turnout gear. After saying something to Brady, he continued toward her. “You’ve got ten minutes, Tori.”

This was a total 5-star read for me. It's not just a romance, it is also a story of redemption. Tori has been dealt some hard blows in life that have left her grappling with her faith. So much so she becomes angry with God and starts questioning his hand in her life. But thank goodness for the guidance, patience and persistance of her best friend Micah. Micah and Tori have been best friends since they were kids and nothing ever came between them, that is until she married his brother Joel. But the more Joel is away (in the service) the more Micah comes back around to support his friend Tori, and his nephew. When Joel is killed in the line of duty Micah steps it up to be there for Tori and Aiden (his nephew). But when Tori's home is lost in a fire, and she and Aiden have to move in... it is a bit too much for Micah to handle. He's always loved her, but that's his SIL and she will never see him like that. Plus, he's spent his life in Joel's shadow, he certainly isn't trying to step in and be a backup option for Tori. But Tori needs Micah, as a friend, a male in her sons life, and just guidance as she struggles with her faith. As they feel a pull towards each other, they both try to ignore it, but for how long? And when a job opportunity gives Micah a chance to get the space he needs from his feelings for Tori, what happens if he takes it?!

What to expect:
Christian Romance
Faith themes / bible verses
Friends to Lovers
Widowed/single FMC
Firefighter MMC
BOTH are teachers
They are BIL & SIL

Mindy is an amazing author, I literally picked up this book TODAY and read it all TODAY, I just had to follow through with this story. Plus, I am not going to lie.... Micah is pretty much a dream MMC, so yeah, I half stuck it out to keep reading more about him, and how amazing he is, lol. LOVED this story, can not wait to see what is next for Mindy!

I received a free copy of this book, but my review expresses my own opinions.

Tori Stallings is barely holding on. After losing her husband, her mother, and now her home to a wildfire, she’s left raising her six-year-old son, Aiden, while questioning everything—including God. Moving into her mother-in-law’s house in Hope Crossing, Texas, Tori is forced to confront her grief, her doubts, and her complicated feelings for her brother-in-law, Micah Stallings. Tori has been Micah’s best friend since childhood but he’s afraid to cross the boundary to more because he doesn't feel he can live up to his brother's memory.

This story is one that sticks with you, diving deep into human struggles—believing, questioning, and even being angry at God. Tori’s heartbreak feels raw and real as she fights to find even a sliver of hope, and for her, that hope is her son. I could not put this book down and finished it in days.

Tori’s real-life struggles made her relatable, while Micah served as the strong, steady backbone for the two. One important detail is that Tori and Micah had been best friends for many years. And with Micah's brother looming over both of them it's difficult for either of them to move forward. d.

Secondary characters like Tori’s mother-in-law, Peggy, and her boyfriend, Hank, added depth and warmth to the story without overshadowing the main plot. Peggy, in particular, struck the right balance of being helpful but not overbearing—a quality I appreciated.

This book captured the tension of grief, faith, and rebuilding hope. If you love romance, especially stories with second-chance love, friends-to-lovers, widow/widower struggles, and single-parent dynamics, 𝘙𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴 is a must-read. It delivers all the holiday feels while keeping the characters and emotions grounded in reality.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All opinions are my own.

What does it take to weaken a Christian’s faith in God? In the case of Tori Stallings it was the death of her husband and her mother and the complete destruction of her home by fire. These sequential catastrophes in just a few years time left Tori devastated despite the support she had from friends, family and co-workers.

Tori had learned to be independent over the years as her confident and dashing husband Joel devoted more time to his country than to his family. His quiet brother Micah quit the military when his brother died to try to pick up the pieces for Tori and her son Aiden. His secret is that his friendship with Tori was more than that when they hit their teenage years, but he kept his crush hidden when she was obviously attracted to Joel.

Tori and Micah are thrown together when she loses her home and she and Aiden move into the family home Micah shares with his mom. Aiden, an adorable six year old, never really knew much of his dad, and Uncle Micah became the father substitute in his life, a relationship Micah and Aiden both enjoyed.

Although there is a growing attraction, Tori and Micah need to get over the feeling they are doing something wrong since Tori is his brother’s widow. Also, Tori is angry with God, and Micah knows that he can’t pursue a relationship with her until she works through her anger and realizes she needs to put her trust for the future in God’s hands.

There are multiple obstacles to be overcome and lots of good people to help them as they face the issues that come when disasters strike and faith is tested.

Tori Stallings is a single mom after the death of her husband in Afghanistan. She is teaching school and renovating her home when a wildfire takes over and threatens her home. She has just enough time to grab her important papers and photo albums when her brother-in-law, a firefighter, drives her out of the area. When the fire is finally under control, there is nothing left of Tori's house. She is devastated, and although she and her son, Aiden have a place to live with her mother-in-law and brother-in-law, Micah, she has a crisis of faith. Micah vows to help his late brother’s wife and son rebuild their lives. The two of them have always been friends, but living under the same roof has their friendship turning into something more. Can love bloom amid tragic loss and shaken beliefs, and give them a fresh start for Christmas?

This is a beautiful Christian Fiction story set at Christmas. I know that many people have doubts and crisis of faith throughout their lifetimes and this story was very realistic and reliable. I loved the characters, especially Aiden, and enjoyed seeing them help one another and do what they can to help Tori and Aiden adjust. Micah supported Tori and it was obvious to everyone except maybe Tori that he cared for her as more than a sister-in-law. Through kindness, patience, and persistence, Micah is able to draw Tori out, but not able to get her to let go of her anger at God. It takes a sermon on Christmas Eve to bring Tori back to her faith, but is it too late for her and Micah? If you enjoy Christian Romance, then this is a book for you.

From the first chapter I knew this was going to be a story that touched my heart and that’s exactly what Discovering Christmas did. From the first chapter, I felt a kindred spirit in Tori. I haven’t lost nearly as much as she has but I could identify with her crisis of faith on a very personal level. If we’re all honest with ourselves, I think we’ve all had those moments of questioning why things are allowed to happen and allowing our minds to go to those dark places, so seeing Tori’s struggle felt personal to me.

Micah is the perfect pairing for Tori, especially during this tumultuous time in her life. He is a great partner and shows grace, kindness, and patience at every turn. We all could use a Micah in our lives. I have loved this series and adore the community that is Hope Crossing so it’s always nice seeing some familiar faces.

I was able to read this while out of town visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday and it was perfect in length and tone and really lent and even more festive cheer to the trip. This is such a sweet story with a wonderful message that is both timely and important, and I cannot recommend it enough.

How I will miss this series! These characters have become like family! They are a great group of people that love and support each other. That is certainly the case in this story. It's so much more than a romance. Tori has lost much in her life - her parents, her husband and now her home in a wildfire. She can't take it anymore and blames God. She is definitely struggling in her faith and lets others know about it. She knows she has to set an example for her son, Aiden, but she just doesn't have the strength anymore. However, her best friend and brother-in-law, Micah, does and he'll do whatever it takes to get her back on her feet. He's secretly loved her pretty much all his life. He was crushed when his brother married her but then he went off to the military and died without really supporting Tori. Micah is going to do everything he can to be there for Tori and Aiden, just like he has since his brother died. It's much harder now that they have moved into his mother's house though! I admired Micah so much in this book. He never let Tori's lack of faith or "being down" get to him. He always thought of others and how to help them. He was focused on how to make Tori's life better and how to be a good uncle to Aiden, never on himself. Such a positive story!

Rediscovering Christmas by talented author Mindy Obenhaus is charming and sweet with realistic, relatable, and engaging characters. I love small-town stories with friendly, helpful, and compassionate townspeople, and this tale is filled with them. It opens with seemingly the last straw for Tori Stallings as her home burns down after she has lost her husband and parents. She and her small son move in with her mother-in-law and brother-in-law, but she has lost her faith in God and his goodness. Her brother-in-law, Micah, is a big help to Tori and her son Aiden and will do most anything to help them. He and Tori have been friends for a long time, and he doesn’t want to do anything to damage their relationship. Aiden is adorable and such a delightful addition to the tale.

This is a Love Inspired Christian fiction book, and, as such, has a strong faith thread. Tori’s faith journey is quite prominent in it. Obenhaus has incorporated it into the story seamlessly, and the Christmas theme goes well with it. It’s part of the Hope Crossing series, but it can easily be read alone. I recommend this author and book to those who enjoy clean, faith-filled entertaining stories.

Tori and Micah have been best friends since elementary school. Unknown to Tori, Micah has had a crush on her since high school, but in the end, Tori never found out and she married his brother Joel.

Tori is now a widow and a single mom to Aiden. She has lost a lot over the years from losing her parents, losing her husband and now her house in a fire. The cumulative events have shaken her faith in God.

I loved how authentic Tori’s journey towards reclaiming her faith was. Thank God for Micah who was always there to pick her up and encourage her when she needed it. The friends to lovers trope is my favourite and it was executed perfectly here with Micah pining over Tori for the longest time, while being too afraid to confess his feelings for her.

Besides Micah, Tori was surrounded by true friends throughout it all, people who helped her by listening to her without judgement. I loved the focus on Aiden and Micah too and those scenes truly cemented what a wonderful man (and potential father) Micah is.

The ending was a sweet and surprising one with Tori taking the lead. As she rediscovers her faith, it was a wonderful reminder to myself as well to continue having faith in God in all circumstances and situations.

Return to Hope's Crossing with this heartwarming second chance holiday romance.

Tori Stallings and her son, Aiden, find themselves living with her late husband's family after losing their home in a fire. But the close proximity brings up new feelings between old friends, as she and her late husband's brother, Micah, navigate their growing attraction. Tori is a wonderful teacher and mother, she is devoted to her son, and wants the best for him. I liked the solid friendship between Micah and Tori, and how he was there for her and her son so many time throughout the years.

Tori has been through a lot in the last few years, and the hard times have been hard on her faith. I liked how the book has a strong message of trusting one stronger than yourself in times of trial. Micah is great with Aiden, and I liked how he is quick to lend a hand when he can.

A heart touching read, with great relationship building, strong family bonds, faith, and hope in the midst of loss. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoy Christian Romance books and I also enjoy the Love Inspired Books. Rediscovering Christmas by Mindy Obenhaus is Book 6 in the Hope Crossing Series. I have been enjoying this series since Book 1!

WOW, a very unexpected plot and storyline. I can honestly say that I was very intrigued from the very beginning of the book. The 2 main characters are Tori Stallings and Micah. Micah is Tori's Brother in Law. Tori is a widow raising a young son. I really LOVE how Tori's in-laws really step in to help her when she loses everything in a WildFire. Tori is losing Faith in God as she struggles through all the trials in her life. Micah steps in to encourage her and help her as the Christmas season approaches. The wonderful twist is that Micah and Tori expand on their friendship and discover something more. Micah truly keeps his word and takes care of Tori and her son in honor of his late brother. I have to say this is one of the best books by Mindy Obenhaus that I have read! The book is one of Faith, LOVE, and Second Chances! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance. FABULOUS BOOK!

Tori is dealing with extreme, multiple losses. Micah wants to help her. Both are great characters that make this book so enjoyable to read. They felt like neighbors I could go have coffee with. The secondary characters are also well done. And then there’s young Aiden. He makes the story even richer and is adorable.

This story is one of loss, of hurt, hopelessness, and a loss of faith. While tough things happened that could sway anyone, there is also a thread of hope throughout the story. God never gives up on us and He sends others to love and minister to us in unique ways.

With unrequited love a part of this story, will Micah ever be able to tell Tori how he feels? Or is he destined to just be her brother in law? Is there a possibility for life together? Read it and see!

Rediscovering Christmas is book 6 in the Hope Crossing series but it can be read as a stand alone. If you enjoy contemporary Christmas stories with a small town flair, I highly recommend it.

Beautiful Story

Tori Stallings has experienced loss, which has clouded her faith. Thankfully, her mother and brother-in-law have always been there for her. Tori and her brother-in-law, Micah, have always been best friends. He has always been there for her, and she has always been able to count on him. But being under the same roof has caused each of them to start rethinking the friend thing.

Theirs is a beautiful story of family, love, forgiveness, faith, and new beginnings, and it is sure to warm your heart.

Book Quotes:
...I know you've had a very rough week. That you've faced more than your fair share of loss in recent years. It stands to reason that you'd be hurting and angry. But be aware, my friend, while you might try to run from God, you can't outrun Him.

Sometimes we need a change of perspective. You know, to stop dwelling on what we've lost and focus on what we have.
