Hannah Yates didn’t get everything she wanted for her Anchorage antiques store from the local estate auction, thanks mainly to her sister who owns a rival store, but she does stumble on a surprising find – a rare wooden-inlay carving of a globe that someone went to great efforts to hide. And now, even before Hannah can get it appraised in Fairbanks, someone else is going to great efforts to retrieve it, putting Hannah in unexpected danger and sending her on the run through rural Alaska in the middle of a blizzard. Fortunately, she’s not alone – her late BFF’s brother Jace and his service dog (in training) Scout happen to be in the right place at the right time and immediately go into protective mode, even though it’s been years since Hannah & Jace have seen each other.

I loved the mysteries surrounding the globe in Alaskan Wilderness Peril, and I loved being able to tag along for the ride as Jace and Hannah try to figure out why someone wants it so badly. I kept having to remind myself to breathe as they dodge attacks around every corner and battle the harsh elements of the Alaskan wilderness too. And it seemed like just when I finally started to relax the slightest bit, something else amped up the tension once more – my kind of suspense read, for sure! In those reprieves though, I enjoyed the sweet & swoony romance developing between Jace and Hannah (maybe they should have used those yummy kisses to melt some of the snow!) and the way they worked together to survive. The fact that they’ve known each other for years helped their quick jump to ‘in love’ and their emotional investment in one another make sense, too. And, not having quite worked out all the finer points of his training yet, Scout brings some comic relief with his overly enthusiastic ‘finds’ and his great personality.

Bottom Line: Alaskan Wilderness Peril by Beth Carpenter takes us from Anchorage to Fairbanks and through the wilderness in between as a high-stakes fight for survival plays out on the pages, driven by an intriguing antiquities mystery and resulting in a heartwarming romance to boot. Hannah and Jace are layered characters who are easy to love, and readers will be rooting for their success (and safety) on all fronts – professional, investigative, emotional, and romantic. The backstory between them, as well as the subplot involving Hannah’s sister, are icing on the cake for those of us who love some emotion to sink into – yes, even in a romantic suspense – and I appreciated that the pace is a bit more relaxed at the end, allowing us to catch our breath and savor the romance we’ve been cheering for. I would love a story with Hannah’s sister Nicole as the heroine, too. If you’re looking for a romantic suspense you can cozy up with to end the year, Alaskan Wilderness Peril is the perfect choice!

It was such fun reading this Love Inspired Suspense. The characters of Hannah and Jace really brought the book to life. They were old friends who had accidentally reconnected when Hannah needed help. She owned an antique store called Alaskan Treasures and her sister opened up an antique store too. They often seemed to compete against each other at auctions.

This book was fast paced and full of heart pounding suspense as Hannah found something hidden in one of the drawers. That seemed to open up a suspenseful can of worms. I really enjoyed the book and the cute puppies in training Jace was fostering. I receivced an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Alaskan Wilderness Peril is a Christian, edge of your seat, suspenseful romance! Forget Christmas preparations, I spent the day in the Alaskan wilderness with Hannah and Jace! Once I started reading there was no way I could put this book down! Thugs are after something Hannah bought at an auction. Her street smarts saves her the first time and Jace saves her the second. I love that Jace trains canine helper dogs in their first year. Scout added a great deal to the story - as well as saving Jace, and later Hannah. Ms. Carpenter’s books always resonate with me but this is the one I have enjoyed the most! Don’t miss this thrilling adventure.

Beth Carpenter pens another romantic suspense with “Alaskan Wilderness Peril”.

Antique store owner, Hannah Yates, finds a rare wooden globe hidden inside a chest of drawers she recently purchased. While trying to learn the true value of the rarity, not only does she run into former crush, Jace Angeles, danger finds her, too.
With protection from Jace, they discover more than the truth about the globe – they find love.

I thought the pace was slow in the beginning chapters compared to other Love Inspired Suspense books, but the premise, which reminded me of the Garage Sale Mysteries TV movies, kept me reading.

This is a definitely fast-paced story that grabbed my attention and carried it racing through to get to the end! All of Beth Carpenters' books are like that!
This story is full of suspense and leads the main characters in unexpected ways. It is so very well written, that I feel like I am right there in the story watching it all happen. That to me is a hallmark of an excellently written book!!

Alaskan Wilderness Peril

I loved Jace and Hannah’s. This was a fast reading book. A book that was hard to put down. I loved the story. A great second chance story. Hannah has an antique shop. She finds something hidden in an item she brought, someone else wants that item. Jace and Hannah meet after years apart. They end up in danger together. They try to figure out why. Also I learned a few things about Alaska.

I received an advance copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

First I love Ms. Carpenter’s books. Second this book was great.
When Hannah Yates an Antique dealer finds something she bought she doesn’t know what she has. Soon she learns a little bit; and soon she heads for Fairbanks to bring the globe to the man who wants to buy it. What she doesn’t expect is someone trying to hurt her. A man from her past comes to her rescue. Jace Angeles she hasn’t seen since forever. A long time has passed. She lost her best friend, and so much more. He comes to her aide several times that same night. He won’t let her go anywhere. They don’t know what’s hidden in the globe, but soon learn. Jace is far from leaving her alone. So much more to come.

A roller coaster of suspense, emotions, and much much more.

The ending was very emotional. I won’t say anything. It was also very sweet.

What seems like a fun puzzle ball hidden within a draw turns into danger for Hannah and not just her but those around her, but amongst all the danger and running she gets to make peace with a tragic past. I really enjoyed how the chance meeting with Jace not only as the timing couldn't be better, but it allowed both of them to really get to know each other whilst also helping Hannah unravel the mystery and keeping the danger at bay to a certain extent. This has the perfect mix of danger, a mystery that you need a piece together, romance as well as determination, making peace with the past in order to move forward and faith.

This was my first book by Beth Carpenter but it won't be my last. This suspense book had it all - interesting characters, puzzles to solve, beautiful (but cold) setting, and a K-9, what more could you ask for??!! Hannah owns an "antique" shop and after going to an auction, brings back more than she bargains for. Her store is broken into, someone tries to rob her, and she runs into an old friend, Jace and the K-9 he is training named Scout. Why is someone after Hannah and can Jace protect her until they discover the answer? Be prepared, you may have to rest after reading some chapters from everything the characters do!! I received a copy from the author but all opinions are my own.

What a fun profession – owning your own antiques/collectibles store. Hannah of Hannah’s Alaskan Treasures has a wee problem. This time, Hannah found a “treasure” for her store that had some bad provenance, shall we say. Good thing she runs into an old friend, Jace, because there’s some nasty folks after Hannah and the “treasure” she purchased! Suspenseful, lots of intrigue, and a furball named Scout to help. I really enjoyed the story – held my breath a few times, too! Great read.

This book is about an antique dealer that had some shady people trying to steal a globe from her that she bought at an auction. They were willing to do anything to get it back. An old friend from her past just happened upon her when she was in trouble and helped her get away from these shady guys. Her friend kept her safe and helped her figure out what the guys were after. This is a really good book that keeps you reading with its suspense.

Well written by an author I haven't read before. I enjoy books written in Alaska and this one is highly recommended. It not only has a reunion of friends and a better understanding of sisterly love, but you also get the suspense you crave. Hannah (an antique store owner) has purchased a chest of drawers. She has trouble getting the bottom drawer open but when she does...Hannah is on the run for her life and is helped by her old friend, Jace. Read this book to find out why.

Hannah can't seem to get away from the bad guys and she doesn't even know why they are after her. When Jace offers to help Hannah it gives them a chance to talk about the past and deal with their grief. I liked the chase, the danger, the characters, it was all very suspenseful.
