Arthur Yorinks is a playwright, director, and author of more than thirty-five picture books for children, including the Caldecott Medal–winning Hey, Al, illustrated by Richard Egielski. His most recent picture book is Presto and Zesto in Limboland, illustrated by Maurice Sendak. Arthur Yorinks lives in Cambridge, New York.
The character,Minski, was a genius inventor/scientist. He proved a theory, discovered electricity, developed the toaster, introduced the telephone, the automobile, eyeglasses, aspirin, and washing machines. What else could he do? Singing. I think that this book portrayed the success of all famous inventer and created the character Minski to retell those successful history of famous the famous inventer. The clothes that they were wearing seems like it was in the British colonial time.

As a child Minski is a brilliant inventor -- telephone, toaster, washing machine, rocket (all in what looks like the 1700s, mind you). Minski discovers his passion which is outside of inventing, others do not think he should pursue it.
