He left her so long ago she thought he was dead. But the moment she’s ready to move on, he walks back into her life and asks for a second chance...
When Jessalyn Dowrick’s husband left her and their three daughters to head west five years earlier, she had no choice but to pick up the pieces of her broken life and continue without him. She had no idea that her husband was busy building a better life for them, or that he regularly sent her letters and money hoping that she would come to him in South Dakota.
When Thomas finally returns to Eagle Harbor intending to collect his wife and daughters and head west before winter sets in, he doesn’t find a happy family waiting for him. Instead, he finds a woman who thought him dead.
With Christmas quickly approaching, Thomas moves in next door, but the last thing Jessalyn wants is be close to the man who hurt her so deeply. Even if they’re still technically married. Even if Thomas is devoted to starting again and carving out a new life for her and their daughters.
But when Jessalyn finds herself enjoying the comfort of Thomas’s arms a little too much, she finds herself wondering just how hard it would be to give Thomas a second chance for Christmas.
From a USA Today bestselling author comes a small-town, second chance romance filled with new beginnings, enduring dreams, and love that heals wounded hearts.
Naomi Rawlings is the author of historical Christian novels, including the Amazon bestselling Eagle Harbor Series. While she'd love to claim she spends her days huddled in front of her computer vigorously typing, in reality, she spends her time homeschooling, cleaning, picking up, and pretending like her house isn't in a constant state of chaos. She lives with her husband and three children in Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula, along the southern shore of Lake Superior where they get 200 inches of snow every year, and where people still grow their own vegetables and cut down their own firewood--just like in the historical novels she writes.
That was such a beautiful story. They had to get to know each other again. And we can’t get in Gods way,He knows what’s right. Love it! Unexpected twist and turns.
I enjoyed reading this story very much. A woman who learns to stand on her own and build a life for herself and her children using her God given talents, when she believes her husband has abandoned her. She has to find her way back to love when he shows up five years later, a long process of sorting out her shut down heart. Jess was so very brave, and yet they both discovered their false beliefs about each other nearly destroyed their love for each other. God's healing powers are sometimes slow, but stubborn when it comes to love.
Love's Christmas Hope by Naomi Rawlings was a great addition to this series.
I was pleased that Thomas Dowrick, the H, Jessalyn's husband, finally came back to town, and he and Jessalyn Dowrick née Hessleman, the h, were able to resolve their differences.
The plot was very realistic for the time period, and I feel privileged to have been able to visit this world.
There were some loose ends, with other sub characters, that I am hoping will be answered, in the final installment of this series.
Story of a couple in the late 1800's about a man who left his wife and 2 children in northern Minnesota while he went to the Gold Rush. He comes back after 5 years because even though he has tried to contact her, she has not responded. There was interference by his brother-in-law that eventually explains the reason for the miscommunications.
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story of forgiveness and second chances. While it has a Christmas title, the story takes place in winter and Christmas is not the focus, but building a strong foundation in the Lord. I highly recommend this whole series!
