Littlefield gives clear justification for why pastors should fellowship together regularly. Pastoral ministry is difficult and should not be done in isolation. His conclusions and applications were pointed of how to do this, after first answering why. While he notes, the importance is in fellowshipping together, I found his particular conclusions and applications to be rigid.
Bottom line: don’t pastor alone. Find meaningful kingdom-minded pastors to encourage and be encouraged by.
I appreciate Littlefield's passion for starting local pastors' coalitions. I grabbed this book because it's something I'm in the middle of initiating in my area. This book had some helpful tips and practical ideas that I am sure to use. However, while it's a short book, it could have been shorter. There were large sections that seemed unrelated to the topic at hand.
If you want to grow in ministry, if you want to be encouraged in ministry, think beyond the walls of your local church. That's the idea Littlefield urges to pastors in this little book.
A good, practical shot in the arm of how caring about the Kingdom of God means caring about churches and pastors other than my own.
