The demon King Asmodeus has taken over the mortal world. The Order of Angel warriors have a mission to take him down, but many have died or joined the enemy. Can the two set aside the past and take down Asmodeus? Or will they turn on each other first?

Michael is a half-breed angel who wants no part of the nonhuman world. However, his immense power makes him a target. King Asmodeus wants him to join his army, and so does Order of Angels, but Michael dreams of settling down, not going to war. He may not have a choice. When his family’s lives are at stake, he’ll have to pick a side or lose everything.

Crown of Wings and Thorns was a fast paced romantasy, that swirled together angels, demons and vampires.  Within the pages there was a lot of mystery, we got introduced to a new world, and the story was told from multiple points of view.  With characters that were unique, and an ending that left us at a great stopping point till the next book releases, this story was such a quick read!
“I loathe your kind,” he hissed, baring his teeth.
“And I despise everything about you.” I clenched my jaw.

My favorite character in this story was the demon, King Victus.  He was fair, yet could be ruthless. And I loved how multifaceted he was!  The secrets he kept were intriguing, and as the story went by I guessed everything correctly about him.  I loved seeing how he reacted to things, and the decisions he made.  He was someone that was so easy to fall for.
“And I’m debating if I should snap your neck or rip out your heart.”
“What kind of angel are you?”

The story was also told from Evangeline’s view, who was an angel.  She seemed like a true warrior that was destined for greatness.  She was smart, kind, and fought for what was right.  Plus she loved her friends.  Yet I could never connect to her.  I thought it was because she was with Zander.  I never swooned over him, even when they were intimate together.  So when King Victus stepped on the pages, I hoped that was a path Evangeline took.  Because he intrigued me, and made my heart race!
My job is to either bring in or kill Asmodeus. I prefer the latter … We’re stronger together. Eva’s words filtered through his mind.
Victus might regret his decision, but a deal was a deal. And he needed the feather being to recover fast.
“Take the cuffs off her, now.”

We also got the story in Michael’s POV.  He was a fighter who would go to the ends of the world to protect you.  I can see readers falling in love with Michael, and wanting to read more about him!  I haven’t read it yet, but he was from the Crossroads SagaI again wasn’t able to connect to him, but I enjoyed listening to his journey to save those he loved!
Bite me harder. Take me. Break me. I was all his, and at this moment, he was mine.
As my pulse drummed faster, my world turned. My present faded and my past came crashing through.

There were more characters we got to hear from, yet these three were who we spent the most time with.  And I loved how all of the different stories wove in and out together, it was masterfully done.  While there was heartbreak, death, and betrayal, there was also hope, love and watching those work together for the greater good.  I definitely don’t want to touch on the story here, because it’s better for you to discover it on your own.   If you have fallen for any of Mary Ting’s previous books, I think you’ll fall head over heels in love with this one too!

"Crown of Bones and Thorns" by Mary Ting blends high fantasy, dangerous situations & emotional depth that can hook you from the start. The book has a chaotic world of angels, demons & vampires. It introduces us to Evangeline who is a fierce & unyielding lead. The slow-burn enemies-to-lovers plot with Victus is layered with tense, undeniable chemistry.

The novel makes good use of multiple POVs. It helps in giving us insights into characters like Michael who is the reluctant half-angel. This adds a powerful yet emotional layer. While the book has its strengths, some may find the writing & world development to be lacking. However, it IS full of action, moments that make you & intricate political intrigue. It's a story about survival, love & loyalty that's recommended for fans who love morally grey characters.

It took me a little bit to get into this book but that’s more because I wasn’t used to the writers unique writing style. Once I got going though I wanted to see where the book was going and the progression from beginning to end was a whirlwind.

Evangeline thinks she has it all figured out. She loves her group of angels that she serves with in the OA. And she’s desperately in love with her second in command. But The demon king Amadeus has other plans for her. And after receiving a terrible prophecy foretelling death and torture, Evangeline but rely on the very people she hates. But not everything as it seems and the players in the game are moving everything around like chess pieces. And Evangeline just might not make it out of this alive.

I loved the charger art for this piece (check out the author’s instagram because they’re gorgeous). And I loved that the side characters were so lovable and funny. Overall it was a cute read and I enjoyed it.

This book is so good! It had a great story line and building of characters. Different species, forgotten memories and battles. It was a page turner! Otis and his apples had me giggling every time! Then Tank with his fear of squampires! Oh gosh so funny! Definitely worth the read!

I really liked the concept of this story, I think the world building is quite funny and it has everything we want, angels, vampires, demons, wizards, nothing is missing, right??
I really liked the characters and I found the quest super full of intrigue and plot twists. However, I think there are some things that could be better worked out, some events seem a bit (repetitively) contradictory considering the characteristics that the characters have.
Even so, I had a lot of fun reading this adventure!

A big thank you to Booksprout and Mary Ting for the ARC!

This book is about fierce conflict involving angels, demons, and vampires, all vying for supreme power and the opportunity to alter history. When King Asmodeus takes control of the human realm, chaos ensues—igniting a brutal confrontation between angelic fighters and a tangled web of treachery among them. Amidst the turmoil, Evangeline, a determined angel warrior, finds herself in a precarious partnership with King Victus—a notorious vampire ruler known for his massacre of angels. Trust is hard to come by, blood flows freely, and the destiny of the world hangs precariously.

The plot is captivating, the character growth is impressive, and the world creation is truly immersive. Featuring a blend of various species, forgotten memories, and thrilling battles, it keeps you engaged from beginning to end. Each chapter draws you further into the narrative—it's a real page-turner!

The narrative explores the conflict between different realms and the nuances of morality, providing more than mere magic and love. If you appreciate fantasy with a romantic twist and like tales that push the boundaries of their worlds—and their characters—this book is absolutely worth your time.

I enjoyed this book more than I anticipated I would to be entirely honest. It’s definitely not a genre I would typically pick up but I’m glad I did! It’s full of action, it’s got a little bit of romance, and some pretty intense betrayals. It’s pretty packed with action right from the first page so if you’re looking for something that’ll keep you hooked from jump street, this is definitely a book I’d recommend.

Crown of Wings and Thorns tells a super exciting story about angels, demons, and vampires fighting to be top dog and change history. King Asmodeus taking over the mortal world leads to a huge fight between the angel warriors and betrayal. Evangeline, one of the angel warriors, teams up with King Victus, a vampire known for killing angels, in a tricky alliance.

In this story, the characters really make it come alive. Evangeline proves herself to be a strong fighter, growing and bouncing back from tough situations. Michael, who’s part angel, struggles with who he is and what he’s meant to do, torn between being powerful and finding peace. And King Victus, a demon with many sides, keeps us interested by being both ruthless and fair.

Mary Ting’s writing is so captivating – it’s got a mix of action-packed scenes, vivid descriptions, and fantastical elements that really jump off the page. Plus, it dives deep into big themes like power, loyalty, and the blurred lines between good and evil. And the fact that it keeps you hooked emotionally and mentally just shows what a great storyteller Ting is.

The book talks about who’s in charge, how much wars can suck, and what’s right and wrong. Ting uses cool writing tricks like switching perspectives and hints about what’s gonna happen to make the story more interesting. The ideas of working together and giving up stuff for the greater good stick with you long after you finish reading.

The pacing keeps you on your toes and makes the story go by quickly, while the different viewpoints let you really get to know the characters and their world. It’s easy to read and the story flows smoothly, even with all its deep themes and diverse characters.

Crown of Wings and Thorns is a really good fantasy romance book. It’s got a cool plot, interesting characters, and dives into some deep themes. Some people might not totally connect with all the characters, but overall, the book kicks butt. I’d suggest it to anyone who likes fantasy with a romantic touch and enjoys a story that pushes the boundaries between worlds and morals.

Basically, Mary Ting’s Crown of Wings and Thorns is a super interesting book that fans of fantasy and romance will love. It’s got everything – action, mystery, and great characters. You should definitely check it out!

I’m not usually into fantasy, but this book surprised me. It’s about a world where a powerful demon king, Asmodeus, has taken over everything. Most of the angels who were supposed to protect the world are either dead or have switched sides. Total chaos.

The main character, Evangeline, is an angel warrior who ends up in a really tough spot. To survive and fight back, she has to team up with King Victus, a vampire king known for killing angels. Their alliance is full of tension, mistrust, and that "will-they-won’t-they" vibe that keeps things interesting.

Then there’s Michael, a half-angel who just wants a peaceful life. He’s super powerful, but doesn’t want anything to do with the war. But when his family is threatened, he has to choose a side and fast.

Even though I’m not a big fantasy reader, the mix of action, emotion, and those complicated relationships pulled me in. It’s not just about magic and battles it’s about loyalty, survival, and making impossible choices.

If you are a fantasy reader give it a go!

This book grabbed me right away with its mix of fantasy, danger, and raw emotion. The world of angels, demons, and vampires is dark and full of tension, but what really stood out was Evangeline — a tough, flawed heroine who fights not just for survival but for love and family. Her complicated relationship with the vampire king, Victus, kept me hooked, full of sparks and suspicion. The story doesn’t shy away from messy politics and ancient grudges, making the plot unpredictable and gripping. Michael’s struggle added a lot of depth and heart. Multiple viewpoints gave a clear look into each character’s pain and hopes. It’s a wild, emotional ride that kept me turning pages late into the night. Definitely a fresh take on fantasy with plenty of twists.

Crown of Wings & Thorns by Mary Ting is a great read. This is my first of Mary Ting and it did not disappoint.

"A fight for a throne that will rewrite history."

A demon King takes over the mortal world and destroys all that he can, until the Order of Angel warriors priority mission is to stop and take him down.

This is a fast-paced romantasy, that has left my head spinning and heart aching for the characters and world. I love the mix of different characters, we are given Angels, Vampires, Demons, Wizards, and many more. The twists and suspense left me trying to figure out all the details as I read wanting to know what I was missing or who would surprise me the most.

With every turn of the page, she transports readers into a breathtaking fantasy world, all while keeping the focus firmly on the intricacies of her characters' journeys.

In Michael, Ting has crafted an unforgettable fantasy hero who effortlessly embodies the essence of an archangel. His presence on the page is magnetic, drawing readers in from the very first moment and leaving an indelible impression long after the final chapter.

From exhilarating highs to heart-wrenching lows, the narrative is a rollercoaster of emotion that never fails to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Wow! Just WOW! I was pulled into a captivating world in a whirlwind adventure.

What an intriguing and immersive supernatural adventure! Crowns of Wings and Thorns is an interesting and imaginative story. Told in more than one POV, the storytelling thrusts readers into a journey filled with twists that kept me captivated from beginning to end.

The author, Mary Ting, has done it again in delivering another gripping story in this fantasy universe she has created since the Crossroads Saga. Crowns of Wings and Thorns is a fantasy adventure/action filled with an amalgam of supernatural beings, and humans. Of course, we can't forget that maturing romance intertwined in these characters' journey.

With Mary Ting's descriptive and unique writing, she has created a fantasy world that pulled me in from the start. A world filled with mystery and plot twists that mesmerizes with each turn of the page. The character development also creates the complexities and the emotional chemistry these characters have with each other and the building of the story.

Firstly I want to thank Mary Ting for giving me the opportunity to read and review Crown of Wings and Thorns. I really appreciate authors who are open to honest review, and I preface this by saying that I only ever review with 100% transparency and honesty!

**Mild spoilers, quotes used**

I DNF’d at 44% (thanks for the stats Kindle).

The overall plot of the book had promise! However, it was let down by under-developed characters and world building.

The characters were quite bland, I found it really difficult to love the FMC, MMC as well as the side characters. I was always wanting MORE just to keep me enthralled in the read, however, was quite let down by the elementary-like writing style. I had to DNF at 44% because I felt as though the plot was going now where despite being almost 50% through the book. There was ample opportunity to give us better insight into the characters, down to simple facts like appearance or powers, but again, this mark was missed. For example, clothing that could hide weapons was loosely described as “special”, and a side character’s affinity towards animals made her an “extra special” person. Majority of the descriptors were disappointing and lacklustre. It read more like a young adult/teen fantasy with spicy scenes thrown in just to get it over the line as “adult fantasy”.

The FMC was difficult to like. She ticked all the boxes to being a mysterious badass warrior but unfortunately the way she read didn’t convince me.. she became a little unbearable and annoying.

The spicy scenes came out of nowhere and really didn’t add much to the plot line.. it was quite confusing because the FMC would have almost no sexual intellect in the first 10% of the book, but would then be engaging in intercourse in the next few pages? I felt quite uncomfortable reading these scenes in all honesty.

It was quite difficult to get my head wrapped around the major story line. If more of the book had been dedicated to world building I think this book would’ve been rated higher!

I loved this book from start to finish. I loved Evangeline and her crew. They felt so relatable, goofy, and very so much like a family. Victus was the shadow daddy I've been needing(and you will understand why when you read the book). The war between the angels, demons, humans, and vampires was amazing. I liked how they were created in this world.

Micheal was a good character. I felt so bad for him throught out this book. He broke my heart with this quote: "What human women in their right mind would want a lover with wings sprouting from their back?"

Hi I would lol.

Angels, vampires and action, Mary Ting brings a new sexy and action packed story as Michael, our favorite half angel is targeted and must decide which he will join new characters in a battle against King Asmodeus.
Great writing , fun characters and a little spice. It's a ton of fun!

The only thing that kills me is the title. Too repetitive with what's on the market. The spice is a little awkward, but nevertheless enjoyable.

These characters are probably the most unique, dysfunctional family I've read in a long time. And I absolutely loved it! While they are heroic and strong, they are also hilarious. And you can't go wrong with men with wings *wink wink*.

You have angels, demons, vampires, and even humans working together to battle evil and save humanity. While I figured out the twist pretty early on, it was still fun to read on and see how things unfolded.

Mary Ting has created a complex, fascinating PNR world filled with darkness, light, shades of grey, demons, angels, vampires, and much more. It is one of danger, challenge, love and loss. For ne, as a new reader to this author, I felt I would have benefited from a cast of characters, plus a description, in the book as there are so many and the relationships are complex.
I enjoyed immersing myself in the world of magic, jeopardy, love and friendships. Overall the writing is good and highly imaginative, painting a world filled with colour and magic. 💖💖💖💖

I struggled hard with the beginning of this book. To be honest it probably wasn’t until maybe over halfway that it clicked with me and I enjoyed it. What changed ? I have no idea. Maybe it was the FMC being a little more take charge, instead of beaten wallflower following the big strong MMC.
The twists and turns were interesting and the betrayals cut deep. Overall, once I was able to get over that point in the story I was invested in the characters and their story.
