The Way of the Quantamancer, pt1

Rate this book
In motion and at rest; with the events of Rise, The Quantamancer behind them, our three protagonists find themselves in different places from where they began.Thaddeus Gonne, the last of the house Valefor, appears to find himself comfortable. He had establishing a school for his house, to spread his teaching to a new generation of wizards. His former familiar Alura ventures out across their claimed domain; guiding, protecting, advising, ruling. To many this would be a comfortable existence. The world has changed, magick has returned, and they are once more the people they had been in the hallowed past. This should be enough for them. This should have been enough for both of them.
But when news comes from Albany, New York about the expansion of a wizardly democracy, he is drawn out of his home and into that most hated of worlds; the world of politics. Meanwhile, Alura's exploration of their shared domain becomes as much about an inner journey as an outer one.
Danika Netherton, witch of the green coven of Providence wintered in New York. But it was not the city she expected to find. In place of the glowing city that never slept, the city of her dreams, she found a place which had undergone profound change. As doubts about her mission began to grow, she rationalized away the decision to stay in Manhattan for a time, to help the people there. Soon, she would discover their need was pressing, but so would be the voices in her mind, urging her to move on westward. She had time, she'd tell herself. Life is her path. Surely, the Great Stag wouldn't chastise her for helping those in need. She would stay, for a time, before leaving New York in a hopefully better state than she found it.
As for Edgar Cole, he had become something quite unexpected. Receiving access to a hitherto unknown force, Edgar had become the quantamancer of Pikeville KT. He had received an answer to his question, to his quest to use the vernacular; he had wanted to find something special, to be something special and by luck or happenstance or gift of a god, he had found it. He had... become.
But when one question is answered, another question always demands attention. Will he embrace the comfort and peace of life in Pikeville, with friends and maybe a family? Or does this gift require its own attention? Is there a price demanding to be paid? The Quantamancy Saga expands with the Way of the Quantamancer, parts 1 (March 2023) and 2 (June 2023).

A.R. McNevin is not a pirate. He is, however, one of the finest curmudgeons one could ever hope to meet. His likes include hitting people with sticks, Peking duck on a bed of fried rice and a hearty & healthy debate about the media of the day, which may or may not result in the aforementioned hitting people with sticks. His dislikes include… well, pretty much everything.
He may have been told that this blurb was meant for a match.com profile.
