Genre: Fantasy, Dystopian, YA
Tropes: vampires, twin sisters, enemies to lovers, vampire × vampire slayer, ancient vampire family, forced proximity, vampire × human, ancient prophecy, Norse Gods, curse, love triangle
Series:   Age of Vampires #4
Cliffhanger: Yes
Spice: 1/5 🌶
Rating: 4.5 ⭐

I don't know if I should be worried or happy, but I've finished it in less than a day. That's how invested I am in this story and that's the power Susanne and Caroline have over me. Loved this book so much that I'm not even pissed about the cliffhanger at the end; just a bit excited.

》》The Plot《《

So, Erik and Montana are married and forced apart when she decided to run away with Callie, Magnar and Julius, Callie is torn between the feelings Idun made her have for her new husband, Fabian and her true love for Magnar, Valentina is still out and about ruling the Biters, the twins are more decided than ever to break the curse by solving the prophecy and the Royals and the two slayers hate each other stronger than ever. It's a cocktail of love, lust, hate, revenge, magic and fate and I was here for every drop of it.
The chapters are shared between Callie and Montana, Erik and Magnar get their own chapters to relate more of what happened in the past and, for the first time in the series, we get chapters from their POVs that narrate the present as well.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

🧍‍♂️👩🏻 Julius and Montana

“That's the second time you've given me your clothes,” I said, recalling the robe he’d given me once.
His mouth pulled up at the corner. “Yes, if I continue to do so, perhaps you'll have me naked one day.”

His flirting will never not be entertaining and I absolutely loved his character. He had a weir sort of friendship while also jokingly flirting with her and low key seriously hoping Montana would stop having feelings for Erik. I liked that he understood in a weird way her feelings for the vampire, even if he didn’t agree with them.

👩🏼🧍‍♂️Callie and Julius

“You’re pretty good at this sneaking about stuff,” I said lightly.
“I’m pretty good at everything,” he replied, winking at me. “So when you’re ready to switch your attention to the better looking brother just let me know.”
“There’s a better looking brother? I didn’t know there were three of you.”

Since we're talking about Julius, his kindling friendship with Callie was amazingly sweet. He was there to knock sense into Magnar when he was an idiot regarding his feelings for Callie, was great at fighting along her side and was super supportive. I actually think his friendship with Callie is bested only by his friendship with Montana.

👩🏻🧑🏻‍💼 Montana and Erik

“We have the small issue of sitting on opposing sides of an age-old war."
“How about we try to rewrite our version of Romeo and Juliet so we don't end up dead.”
“I think this is the version where they go their separate ways.”
“That sounds like a rather boring version, Rebel. Don't pursue a career as a writer.”

No questions asked, my two favorite cinnamonrolls. They are sweet and I can't wait to see how their relationship will evolve after that ending, because now I'm demanding some romance here. I've waited four books and I want to see their ship sailing. I mean heloooooo, they are married so I think a wedding night is long past its due.

“You're making up for things now, aren't you?”
“Well, I hear Fabian is erecting statues of your sister in the Realms, would you like me to do the same? I'll make sure they're twice the size. That might make up for some of my bullshit.”

I was honestly on fangirl mode at their scenes, especially the one with the video call and I loved how Erik was so determined to do everything in his power to get her back and protect her, while also hoping to right the wrongs of his past.

👩🏼🤺 Callie and Magnar

“I love you, Callie. I was afraid to say it in case she took you from me. I was afraid to feel it too.”
“I used to be afraid of so many things. But you make me brave. And if we have to be brave to love each other then that’s what we’ll do. I won’t deny my heart any longer and you shouldn’t hide yours.”

It took them four books to state the obvious, but their relationship did have some obstacles, so no judgment here. They finally gave us a little steam and I generally enjoyed the two of them together, even if Magnar was a bit insufferable at times.

"One half of my soul was bound to Magnar. The other half bound to Fabian. So where did that leave me?
Stuck between two mortal enemies while waiting for them to destroy me."

And poor Callie had a lot of feelings to sort through, with this kind of a love triangle emerging between her, Fabian and Magnar. It wasn't a love triangle in the real sense of the word, since her feelings for the vampire were of pure lust forced upon her by Idun, but still, the entire situation was kind of tangled and I'm wondering where would that leave Fabian.

》》Favorite Scenes《《

🧍‍♂️👩🏻 Julius half-jockingly flirting with Montana
👩🏻🤺 Montana telling Magnar off for ordering Callie
👩🏻‍🦳🧝🏻‍♂️🧍‍♂️👩🏻Andvari and Idun having a fight over Julius and Montana
👩🏼🤺 Callie making Magnar yield
🤺👩🏻🧍‍♂️Magnar telling Montana that Julius has his eyes on her

"Julius has his eye on you, you realise?”
My cheeks flamed and I dipped my head, looking directly at the silver cross on my left palm. “Well he’s going to be disappointed.”
“He’s quite determined when he sets his sights on a girl.” He chuckled. “You would make a fine pairing. My brother has a good heart and a strong spirit. Like you.”

🧍‍♂️👩🏼 Julius telling Callie that he had never seen Magnar looking at a woman the way he looks at her
👩🏼🧍‍♂️Callie and Julius fighting togheter
🧑🏽‍💼👩🏼Fabian building statues of Callie

"Did I hear correctly that you're having a statue built of Callie Ford in Realm G?”
Fabian grinned widely. “Not just Realm G, Erik. All of the Realms! The whole of the human race will praise her name.”
“Fucking hell,” Callie muttered.

👩🏻🧑🏻‍💼Montana's video call with Eric
👩🏼🤺Callie using the ring to get some well spent time with Magnar
🧑🏻‍💼🧑🏽‍💼🧍‍♂️🤺The fight between Erik, Fabian, Julius and Magnar
👩🏼 Callie breaking Magnar's compulsion and becoming a true slayer
👩🏻Montana's new fate

》》Conclusion《《

I loved it and I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and I'm glad I've picked it up. I can definitely see an improvement in the writing style throughout the books, so I think I'll love the next ones even more.

"I'm caught between two powerful enemies in an ancient war. And I love people on both sides"

Montana and Callie have finally reunited but are pulled in opposing directions by the binds that tie them. Montana yearns for the man she might not ever see again whereas Callie is trapped between who heart wants and the bloodsucker she is bound to. Tension builds as the slayers and the vampires are being compelled to collide by the gods with centries age-old hatred burning within.

⤷ Erick and Montana like always are my favorite parts of these books. Even though we didn't get to read enough of them in this one, they were beautiful as always.

⤷ To be honest, I have not been the biggest fan of Magnar! Especially in this book, he really annoyed me, which is one of the reasons why I don't ship him and Callie that much. But let's see how things go with him in the next two books!

⤷ I love Callie as a character but yet again she also low key annoyed me in this book. Only because of her behavior towards the vampires, like Erick, which is completely understandable but at times I felt like screaming!

⤷ OMG, I love love love love love love love Julius! One of the best characters in these books and definitely the better brother!

⤷ AHHH THAT ENDING!!!! The cliffhangers just get more tense and stressful as the books continue and it's killing me slowly!

"Even in death I'll love him more profoundly than you could ever love anything"

These books have become my favorite series so far this year! Once again read this whole book in one whole sitting, it's impossible to stop!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

“Endlessly different but eternally bound. The sun would set. And the moon would rise. The point at which the day met the night was always the most beautiful. So perhaps there was a chance for us yet.”

Eternal Vow is the fourth book in the Age of Vampires series and continues the story of Montana, Erik, Callie and Magnar.

These books are so beautifully written. These book take all your emotions on a ride.

Eternal Vow starts right where Eternal Curseleft off and it was so good. The story was so well-written, there were so many good plot twists and the book was really fast paced. The Age of Vampire series is just such a good vampire series and I cannot get enough of it. This novel was addicting, I read it in one sitting. I don't know what more I can say about this heart-stopping series and amazing characters.

Just like in all the other books in the series, we read in Callie, Montana, Magnar and Erik’s perspective. I’m glad that we have a few chapters in Magnar and Erik’s perspective because we get to know bits and pieces from their past. I also love reading in Callie and Montana’s perspective because they’re both so different.

The story is nonstop action as the two remaining slayers of the old world battle against the vampires and the vampires continue to try to find a way to break their curse.

“I have lived a life as a slave. I have escaped that life as I promised my father I would. I have been one half of a whole to my beloved twin. I have loved Erik as a monster. And I have loved him as a man. So I have been free, I have had a place in this world and I have known the deepest kind of love my heart ever had to offer. What have you done with you eternal existence, Andvari?”

Callie and Montana are torn apart fighting to reunite, and then their paths collide only to leave Montana and Erik clawing to get back to one another afraid to accept the painful choice of family or each other as a mutually exclusive. As a thousand-year feud comes to a head in this book we get tons of action and I was continually finding myself holding my breath but the bonds of sisterhood are stronger than the gods deigned to realize and Callie and Montana might not only prove to be the answer to the vampire curse but they at last know who the real enemy is - not the slayers or the vampires, but the gods who use them as toys.

"I'm caught between two powerful enemies in an ancient war. And I love people on both sides"

Hands down this series is getting better and better with each book. This whole story-line is so unique, and the creativity behind the characters and the plot is just great! That's why I've really been loving Caroline's books, they're so different and unique, she is an author to look out for! I've never read anything from Susanne, other than this series so far, but I'm looking forward to more from her.

This series is something to look out for... SERIOUSLY. If you love vampire stories with amazing back stories and characters that are fleshed out, strong females, slow burning love stories that truly add to the story, action, twists and turns, then this series is for you. It literally has it all. I'm currently reading book 5, Eternal Night AND OOOOOH MY it's good! I highly recommend this series!

Okay, dare I say… this is my FAVORITE book of the series so far. This portion of the story gave me moments of bliss in between the continuous tormenting of my heart. The highs and lows were treacherous, there is a lot of nonstop action in this book, and it was again, impossible to put down. All to lead toward the long awaited fight between vampire and slayer that I simultaneously did and did not want to happen. I was burning through the pages like a ravenous maniac.

The ending is diabolical but I expected nothing less. ⚜️🌚🌝

Everything had changed, but the world was still the same. The sun would set and the moon would rise.

5++ stars!!

I don't know how many more times I can say this, but these two ladies are masterminds at their craft. This book is my favorite of the series so far because the entire dynamic between the five main characters completely shifts in this novel, and we get to see how different relationships interact and play out. I LOVED finally being able to see Callie and Montana together. Their sisterly love and protectiveness for each other bled across the pages, and watching them stand up for each other to beings more powerful than they was a great testament to the sisterly bond.

Julius was another aspect I loved in this novel; his humor, easy friendship, and great spirit reminded me of Jameson, my favorite character from Caroline's V GAMES series. On the other hand, Magnar completely irritated me in this novel. He came across as an overbearing, uncaring, and callous asshole--especially after what he commands Callie (who he loves) to do and how he dismisses Montana's feelings. I didn't like him much after what he did to both sisters, but I guess he redeemed himself some in the end.

And talk about an explosive ending! So much craziness happened in the last 25% of the novel that my mind is still processing. My heart was pounding in my throat as the great battle that had been building between the slayers and vampires finally comes to fruition. The fight was epic with the gods interfering and wholly invested in an outcome that no one saw coming. I don't know that there was any clear winner, as there were losses on both sides and irreparable damage done. I feel that Erik and Montana have once again suffered the most, so I hope they get a tiny scrap of happiness and peace in the next novel, which I have downloaded and ready to go! Definitely recommend this nonstop and amazing series!

My Erik, fiercely protective and unapologetically in love with Montana his Rebel... :)

My Magnar, Blessed Crusader and badass Warrior of the Sun...

Erik and Montana, savoring their stolen moments together....

✨ARC Review✨

This series honestly has a hold over me. The vampire/human/vampire slayer themes of the book is a big YES from me🤝

If you have followed along on Callie’s and Montanas journey so far you will know that the sisters are reunited in this book, but their troubles only seem to be growing by second👀

Again this book is told from multiple POVs so we get an insight to Montana, Callie, Erik and Magnars thoughts.

Erik and Montana honestly own me body and soul at this point😮‍💨 This quote alone below only solidifies my love for Erik even further.

“Listen to me, Montana. Whatever happens here this night, know this. You returned the lustre to my world. You awoke me from a numbness I never thought I would escape. I love you for that and so much more besides. I know that my love is a noxious thing, and that the heart of a villain is worth little more than a jar of sand, but all I have to give is yours. Only yours.”

My poor Callie, we can see in this book she is in quite a situation with her head and heart been torn between her vampire husband Fabien and vampire slayer Magnar👀. Now don’t get me wrong I do like Magnar and Callie together but adding Fabien to the mix makes it even more delicious and the reason for this is yes I am a girl who is a sucker for the two guys fighting over a girl💅.

It wouldn’t be a twisted sisters book without the devastating cliffhanger and my god was my jaw on the floor. The last few chapters of this book is a wild one😅. I cannot wait to get the next book in my hands😩

🖤Tropes:🖤
- Human/Vampire, Vampire/Vampire Slayer
- Enemies to Lovers
- Slow burn
- Forced Proximity
- Vampire/Dystopian Romance

This is a spoiler free review, so I’d highly recommend to pick up this rollercoaster of a series because it will not disappoint

Overall I am enjoying this series and I am looking forward to reading more about Callie/Montanas journey. I am grateful to the authors for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts✨

YOU SPEND MOST OF THE BOOK AWAY FROM ERIK AND THAT IS JUST TORTURE. I waited for this book only to be mad he only showed up at the end. Actually coming from these authors I’m shocked at how short the book was I’m used to them writing mammoth novels.
The battle was epic. The ending was THRILLING. IM SO EXCITED. like damn I was waiting for this they are going to have amazing kinky vampire sex I can see it now. All I hope for is that the bite is fun now and doesn’t hurt so we shall see. Tbh I like when the twins are doing their own thing cause damn if I didn’t give two shits about Callie or magnar at all in this book. Mans needs to open up his eyes to the world of possibilities like the demons MAY have hearts?? Shocking I know considering they act like they do at least towards each other.
Need more Erik and Montana content can’t wait for the next one.
The gods fighting feels like weird foreplay now. Like are they together?? And this is a fun game they are playing?? Seems so. I’m very intrigued by our one god and his weird morality justifications. He seems chill and then boom totally evil. Our goddess also seems reasonable and then seems to be in obsession with a random mortal dude. Wack.
I devoured this in a day the next one better be over 400 pages.

. Magnar is despicable and views the girls as property. I hate him and Callie. Idk how Callie can stand to love him let alone be in the same vicinity as him. He’s so annoying and I skipped over his chapters and skimmed over Callie’s because I hate them both so much

actually really ended up liking this book!
the twins are finally reunited, and the story is seeming to progress.
i'm still so on the fence about callie and magnar, as a couple. and as individual characters.
erik, montana, and julius *chefs kiss*

not that i wanted anyone to die, but i do hate the trope of characters being beat to absolute shit, but because of plot armor they are still alive. happened like 80 times in the last couple chapters.
ALSO, im hoping we've seen the last of the "1000 years ago" chapters, they throw the pacing off imo and aren't all that integral to that plot. like just give the guys chapters in current day pov!

the ending was so good to me! the fight finally happening, monty turning into a vamp like i always thought would happen. and sisters of sun and moon on seemingly opposite sides. i do love how callie and montana are foil characters, cause it goes really well with the whole sun and moon shit. i'm honestly obsessed with prophecies so loving that

a lot of this book kind of was filler which is why i'm not giving it any higher of a rating. but i think it sets the next book up very nicely!

are we gonna have a lord of the rings moment where they have to destroy this ring to help end the curse...?
hehe

2.5⭐️ It was so boring that they didn’t have any control over their actions and the gods were controlling them! It was ridiculous! And it was more boring when they were stupid to see that they were some pawn and stop fighting for gods!
I didn’t like this one.

There it is. 🔥 Finally. Maybe? Ouch, now that hurts. Peckham and Valenti really know how to string you along. And give you just enough rope so you come back. I'm like a mouse salivating over a piece of cheese here.

A minor "major" player comes in big about 3/4 of the way through. Now you just don't know what to do. You are literally town on what you think the prophecy means. You don't know who to like. You don't know who to hate. You loved him in the last book. You hate him in this one.

Once again, the authors leave you rushing to buy or download the next one just so you can read that 1st chapter of the next one.

3.5 stars- ugh that ENDING!!! Ughhh Erik is soooo my type!!! I love a dark, broody tortured prince MMC. There’s something about a rich, hot tortured soul ya know?

The feud between vampires and slayers is feeling v juvenile rn tbh, but I think that will finally change in the next book.

pooled ink Reviews:

On one hand I feel incredibly honored to be an advanced reader for these books but on the other hand I wish I'd waited until they were all published so I could just binge-read all six books haha! This series is so addicting!! I was clinging to the edge of the cliff after book 3 and inhaled each page in this one. Now I'm left desperate to know what will happen next!

At first, sisters Callie and Montana are torn apart fighting to reunite, and then their paths collide only to leave Montana and Erik clawing to get back to one another afraid to accept the painful choice of family or each other as a mutually exclusive.

If you're interested at all in dystopia with a paranormal/vampire twist then you seriously need to consider Age of Vampires as a series to be your fix because it is so good!
