I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Wrong Time for Love by Lola Drake was a delightful little romp through time. I sat down to start the book and found myself finishing it in one setting, smiling throughout reading.

Raina is a modern woman with the typical problems most career women face today. She has spent so much time focusing on first her education, and then her career, that she has completely neglected her love live. It’s during a discussion with a co-worker Chris about her experiences with weak men that she expresses a desire to travel to a different time and place.

What Raina doesn’t realize is that Chris is actually Cupid who is trying to prove to Zeus that true love still exists. Before Raina realizes it, Cupid whisks her away to 13th century Scotland. Raina found herself in the middle of the raid. She is rescued by the handsome Laird Tristan. Tristan offers to take Raina and Chris to the local monastery. Not surprisingly, Raina and Tristan fall in love during the journey.

Ms. Drake certainly provided us with the ultimate alpha male in Tristan. The chemistry between the two sizzled from the pages. Their growing relationship was believable and enjoyable to follow. It was interesting to watch a modern woman try to work her way through the constraints of the past.

I was impressed with the obvious research that Ms. Drake did in order to accurately portray medieval Scotland. The details she included added authenticity to the book that kept me riveted from the moment Raina traveled through time.

If you’re looking for an easy, quick escape from your daily grind, then I suggest you pick up Wrong Time for Love. It will provide you a little bit of fun and enjoyment in your day.

Cupid breaks all rules and takes Raina back in time to rekindle her belief in love and romance. Unfortunately she actually falls in love with Tristan, her Scottish laird. This wasn't Cupid's plan - he plans on taking her back to her own time to meet her true love once she's opened her heart to love again.

As much as I've been enjoying this series, I didn't really enjoy this one. Books set in Scotland, tend to instantly get my dislike until they change my mind - sadly this one didn't. I can't remember exactly why but I think it was just little things - like, I'm sure at one point Tristan talks about being coastal but then mentions Dundonald castle which isn't coastal. I also don't think Tristan sounds like a very Scottish name - yeah in this day and age but back then I can't imagine a name like that being used. There really was just a few little things that bugged me.

I do enjoy this series and will continue to read it as I like the multi author angle and each release having its own characters and story which don't have to relate to previous ones at all. It's just this book in particular that doesn't get my love.

I received a copy of this book to review and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it. I might have passed on it, thinking it was a holiday tale, but honestly it's a love story for all seasons.

Raina, the heroine, has focused all her time and attention on her education and career. Her love life is non-existent, and she confides to a coworker that she would love to travel to a different time and place. Only her coworker is really Cupid, and soon Raina finds herself in 13th century Scotland. Tristan, a handsome Laird, comes to her rescue, and well… who doesn't love a hot Scotsman?

Raina is a heroine we can all relate to, and Tristan is the sexy alpha male we'd all like to relate to. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between them develop. Their chemistry scorches the pages. Ms Drake has obviously done her research. There's enough historical detail to make the story feel authentic. The realism and the paranormal combine to make this story an engaging read. I loved it!

Raina and Tristan played off each other nicely and I enjoyed watching them hesitantly grow toward one another. The paranormal aspect wasn't overdone at all. Cupid couldn't just wave his hand and magically do anything (he had to talk Father Time into sending him and Raina back to the past), nor were either of the protagonists anything unnatural (no vamps, etc, so don't let the "paranormal" genre throw you off).

Wrong Time for Love locked me in. It's a classic love fantasy that keeps you wondering "What are they going to do??" as you keep swiping. This historical romance explores a timeless love amidst war-torn Scotland. The sexual scenes are tastefully written and I was impressed to find that Lola Drake actually based the story around factual events, and so the fictional world is actually pretty historically accurate (she goes into detail on this in the back). It was a truly enjoyable reading experience!
