After Harley being the selfish, arrogant, would-be villain slash pop star diva in Jet's "Hat Trick" book, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect of him in this story, but I did have a feeling that Eden wouldn't disappoint. And she didn't.
Right off the bat, I immediately liked the more down-to-earth, slightly-insecure guy behind the boy band image that was forced upon Harley by his shitty, controlling record label. There was a lot more to him than the public was allowed to see.
The main thing that completely irked me about Harley in "Hat Trick" was his engagement to Evah, but we quickly found out here that their relationship was a total work of fiction, arranged by those making all of Harley's decision for him behind-the-scenes.
Then when an obsessed fan took things way too far, and Harley needed a bodyguard, that's where we met Brix, the straight-laced, military guy assigned to babysit the anxious pop star.
Although Brix's Army training had left him pretty buttoned-up, I enjoyed the fun, playful, often-mischievous interactions that the pair engaged in nearly from the start. Brix was not only a guardian at the gates, but also a friend with good advice that Harley needed to hear.
This being a romance, of course the guys secretly had the hots for one another and, of course, eventually acted on those emotions, but neither of them expected it to turn into something more.
Although I didn't entirely understand Brix's need for the level of secrecy, I did really enjoy the story line surrounding his medical debt.
Since I'm not a usually a huge fan of mysteries, though, the dangerous stalker plot was less successful for me, if I'm being 100% honest; however, it was the lynchpin reason behind their meeting and spending countless days together.
I did especially love Brix's coworker, Iris, who totally reminded me of Maddy (from "Fake Out") in regards to his personality. He was a totally fun, crazy character and I can't wait to read his book. And the origin of his name was hilarious.
The angst was kept to very manageable levels, and the flip-floppy steam was on the hotter side, but not so prevalent that I ever felt like skimming my way past the nekkid scenes.
Also, the epilogue was pretty touching, especially the part about , further cementing their happily ever after, so I was glad that it was included.
Overall, I'd rate the book at just over 4 stars and recommend it to fans of Eden's other books.

I have to say I picked this up only because I liked Fake Boyfriend series by this author. I don’t really like reading about celebrities in a romance, and this book hasn’t changed that. So overall, I enjoyed it but nothing more than that.
I liked Harley and Brix as main characters. The first part of the story, when they were getting to know each other and starting to build a connection, was my favourite. There were some really fun moments, especially when Iris was present. Loved him.
The suspense part of the story wasn’t that exciting for me. I know there would be no story without it, but I didn’t find any of it believable.
Not sure I’ll continue with this series, if it’s only about the band members. But I’m very much interested in reading about Iris. I hope he gets a story of his own.

Iggy Toma did an amazing job with the narration. He had distinct voices for the characters, the only problem is that he is a slow reader. I had to listen to this at 1.5x.
This was a just there story. The charm and humor that was present in the Fake Boyfriend series was missing here. The characters were okay but i didn't buy the chemistry at all.
I will go to purgatory swearing this story was inspired by Harry Styles. All the signs are there.
The Harley in this book and the Harley in Hat Trick are different people. I kinda liked the evil Harley in Hat Trick. This Harley was too sweet and adorable, the sugar coma inducing type.
Overall, it was just there, nothing special, i liked it enough to continue with the series.

I am a big fan of Eden Finley's "Fake Boyfriend" series, which is also where I first met Harley...Jet's douche ex-boyfriend from Hat Trick. He was a bit of an ass but kudos to Eden for making me completely change my feelings about the guy.
I have really come to like Harley...insecure, funny, sweet and talented Harley...
When an obsessed fan gets a bit too close (really really close) to Harley, it is time to agree with his manager and hire a personal bodyguard.
Brix is an ex-military guy who works for Mike Bravo together with some other awesome men and women... Personal security isn't normally Brix's thing, but money is tight and very much needed and this gig is paying quite nicely, so the decision is easily made.
He becomes a live-in bodyguard for Harley for 6 days a week, leaving his Sundays off to take care of other personal business. Of course, there is an instant attraction between the two, but both don't know about the other being gay... It doesn't take long for them to figure it out though and things get pretty heated :P
I really liked these two guys together, but also separately. They had some great banter and chemistry going on and they were both very likable.
That said, I also have my eye out for Iris, who partly stole the show in this one. He was funny as hell and I do hope that Eden will write his story...soon.
All in all, another great one from Eden Finley, which I highly recommend.

I know this is a favourite of many of my friends, but there is nothing interesting here to make me turn another page.

Life has been pretty crazy and trying to stay focus has been a bit challenging. So I'm giving myself a pass for not realizing Harley was the same Harley from Jet's story. Ugh, lol! It didn't take long to remember though. Just took the mention of Jet and the band name 11. Anyways...
Harley ended up being a very likable character considering how he was portrayed in Hat Tick . He was just a guy who wanted to make music and find someone who would love him with all his baggage and secrets. When a overzealous fan breaks into his home he has no choice but to hire a full time bodyguard. He no longer feels safe and is pretty shaken up by the encounter. His manager Gideon has a cousin named Trav who runs a somewhat security company. They usually take on more life threatening assignments considering they are all ex-military, but Trav is willing to do a favor for his cousin, plus he has an employee who could use the money; Brix.
Brix is ex-military who works for a company called Mike Bravo. He is used to leaving for periods of time to go on missions that are a lot more dangerous than watching some pop star. He has no idea who Harley is and only agreed to the job as his bodyguard because, as his boss points out, he could use the money. Brix is in serious medical debt and knows this money will help put a big dent in it. Brix has secrets to and he has a really hard time letting people in. He's been working with the same people for 4 years and they still don't know where he goes every Sunday or where all his money ends up because they can take one look at his crappy car and know he's not spending it on himself.
Brix and Harley become really close and Brix starts feeling not only attracted to Harley who isn't his usual type, but also very protective over him and his mental state. He does all he can to make Harley smile a real smile and to help Harley remember it's OK to take a break and to have some fun. Harley of course feels the same attraction and really enjoys how Brix has been able to see past the pop star and to see him for who he is. Brix loves being needed by Harley. They both fulfill something that has been missing in each others lives. They have both been pretty alone. They have both fell into their work and forgot to have other relationships. To have people they can depend on and they find that in each other.
I wasn't sure how this book would turn out, but I really enjoyed it. I loved both men and loved them together. They had their serious moments but there was plenty of times I laughed as well. I also appreciated that near the end the author didn't come up with some way to split them up for some lame reason. I was dreading the moment is would happen and was pleasantly relieved when it never came. It made me like the book even more.
I can't wait for Riley's book! Or Iris's. Or Trav's. I just want more, lol.

An M/M romance about an ex-boy-band pop star and his broody, ex-military bodyguard?... If this isn’t a premise that reaches out to my soul like a siren’s call, I don’t know what is.
Superstar Harley is thriving in his music career but dying quietly on the inside, due to his professional need to keep his sexuality firmly in the closet—a fact his record label has made stringently clear, or else.
Harley might be famous but he’s also fairly isolated, rarely leaving his house when not on tour. He doesn’t quite know the extent to what he’s missing from life, until he gets assigned a full-time bodyguard, in the form formidable and fiercely protective Brix, who quickly turns Harley's world on its axis.
Brix thinks this latest assignment will be boring AF, but the substantial pay check is too tempting to pass up, needing the money desperately to help with his personal commitments. What Brix didn’t anticipate was how much he’d grow to actually like the diva popstar under his protection. To care for him; to crave him.
The attraction is instant on both sides, but personal situations and emotional boundaries make it so each man has to work for it, building trust and a level of intimacy and companionship neither has experienced in their fairly lonely lives.
I liked Harley and Brix a good deal. The building of their sexual tension was delicious and once those walls came down, these two came together in inferno levels of hotness.
The arcs surrounding Harley’s stalker, Brix’s “secret” and the whole mess of dealing with asshole record executives, who wouldn’t let Harley thrive as an artist, were all engaging plot points, helping the story stay engaging beyond the romantic relationship forming between Harley and Brix.
This is still early days in my Eden Finley reading (maybe book 4 for me?) but I really enjoy her writing, her characters and the relationships within.
I’ll definitely be reading on within this series.

Nice start to a new series.
I guess I remember not caring for Harley in the book he was previously featured in. But it wasn't a lasting dis-like I guess. I didn't harbor any ill feeling towards him when I started this one.
I liked his character - and I do like the bodyguard to lovers theme.
I can't say this one wowed me, but it was good. The suspense plot was a bit meh honestly.
But there was no un-necssary drama. Some good steam. Interesing side characters who I am looking forward to reading about in the other books in the series.

WELL.....
I wanted to love this book. BUT....
It was just OK.
Eden Finley TRIED to create UST.
She TRIED to create a sense of mystery and danger.
She TRIED to get me to really care about the MC’s.
She TRIED to upend traditional power dynamics in the bedroom.
She TRIED to create a compelling backstory for why our beefy bodyguard was so secretive.
Her TRIES were somewhat successful.
AND...
Her TRIES were somewhat a miss.
The UST, once the characters gave in, created little pay off.
The danger angle kept dropping in and out.
The MC’s were uninteresting at times.
The bedroom D/s-ish play felt off.
The big SECRET, while a big part of our bodyguard’s life, didn’t call for secrecy.
What this book did have a lot of was sex.
It had that nice role reversal of the muscled-up bodyguard craving to bottom for a smaller guy. But I found myself skimming these scenes because there were a lot of them and the guys vomited feelings all over the place, repeatedly.
Would I read this again like I have Finley’s Fake Boyfriend series? No.
Would I read future books in the series about a group of LGBTQ mercenaries living in LA? Maybe if Eden steps up her game like I know she can.
My rec? Although a disappointment for me, I still read it and SOMEWHAT enjoyed it. You may like it more.

This is the first Eden Finley book I was able to finish. I tried a couple of the Fake Boyfriend books and just didn't connect with the characters or writing style, as I really dislike the first-person, present-tense POV.
I liked both Harley and Brix. Ever since I saw The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Coster, I've been a fan of the falling-for-your-bodyguard trope.
I didn't mind the stalker plot; it added some excitement to the story. But I was disappointed that there was no epilogue.
I'm not giving up on this series yet, but this story didn't wow me.

3.75 stars. So, I had trepidations going into this because, like most other readers/fans of the Fake Boyfriend series, I didn’t much care for our pop star Harley, Jet‘s ex. Understandably, he wasn’t portrayed favorably through Jet‘s eyes in Hat Trick. I should have had more faith in Eden Finley: She turned that ship around and made me like him. I liked Brix, ex-soldier and Harley‘s initially reluctant bodyguard, even more though. What can I say, I have a thing for stoic, tough guys who have a heart of gold.
And speaking of tough guys: I am most intrigued about Brix‘s LGBTQ team members from Mike Bravo Ops (more than I am about the Famous characters) and happy to find out that Finley is planning another spin-off for those ex-military guys. Keeping my fingers crossed for Iris‘s story.
I‘m conflicted with regard to the stalker plot – on the one hand, I didn’t find the narrative about that guy going after Harley all that compelling but, on the other hand, it replaced the often employed 70-80% relationship complication/break-up. Since I hate the latter more often than not, I guess, at the end of the day, I am all for the stalker.
Still, this wasn’t close to being as funny and fun and generally as good as the Fake Boyfriend series. Maybe because I dig sports romance more in general? Maybe it was because the characters didn’t feel quite so well-developed and as relatable? Maybe because I wasn’t that emotionally involved? Probably all of the above.
Would I recommend this? Yes, if you like Finley‘s books. No, if this is your first book by this author. (Start with Fake Out.)
Will I put it on my will-reread shelf? Nope.
Will I continue reading this series? Yes, eventually.

I liked this book the first time I read it, and after having Iggy Toma talk sweet nothings in my ears for a few hours, I liked it even more. Iggy Toma can do no wrong, and maybe Eden Finley can't either. I'll have to read more to make sure!
I’m wondering when normal people go shopping, who’s there to tell you to stay away from the candy?” My feet move in the direction of delicious treats.
A semi-closeted ex boy band pop star and his badass bodyguard. It's literally perfect. I am a fiend for romantic suspense, and even though I felt like the romance was on point for what this book is, I wish the suspense part was played up a bit more. More creepy stuff, more risk and danger. You know, the good stuff. Overall it's a really enjoyable book, and I really like the main characters, Harley and Brix.
No matter how successful I get, I’ll always want more. Because hiding behind a career is easier than going for what I want. And what I want is to be loved. Truly loved.
If the danger to Harley (the whole reason for getting Brix as a bodyguard) had been a bigger part of the book, it would have been an easy 5 stars for me.

I liked this book the first time I read it, and after having Iggy Toma talk sweet nothings in my ears for a few hours, I liked it even more. Iggy Toma can do no wrong, and maybe Eden Finley can't either. I'll have to read more to make sure!

A semi-closeted ex boy band pop star and his badass bodyguard. It's literally perfect. I am a fiend for romantic suspense, and even though I felt like the romance was on point for what this book is, I wish the suspense part was played up a bit more. More creepy stuff, more risk and danger. You know, the good stuff. Overall it's a really enjoyable book, and I really like the main characters, Harley and Brix.
No matter how successful I get, I’ll always want more. Because hiding behind a career is easier than going for what I want. And what I want is to be loved. Truly loved.
If the danger to Harley (the whole reason for getting Brix as a bodyguard) had been a bigger part of the book, it would have been an easy 5 stars for me.

Kindle has been pushing me to read this book, and I finally succumbed to their obnoxious advertising. I will admit to avoiding this book only because of the cover. No offense to the model but he looks like a young Rick Astley, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but it also certainly doesn't scream "read this book, there's a fabulous story inside!"
This story was kinda meh. It wanted so badly to be a wonderful pop star/bodyguard MM all consuming love story. But the drama didn't feel real, and the romance was sweet but really awkward.

3.75 Liked-it-but-did-not-love-it Stars!! 👍😄 I feel that it had all the ingredients that a typical Eden Finley book has.. low angst story, interesting MCs, great banter, lots of heat and yet I felt that the chemistry between the MCs felt forced. The danger level was also 'meh".. 🙄. There wasn't enough back story given for Harley and Brix and therefore their attraction felt superficial. But overall I still liked it despite the shortfalls.. the supporting characters were great and I am curious about Ryder, Iris and Trace's stories.. 😍

I'm still so in love with this book🥰 Harley is my favourite among all of Eden's characters (Beck and Maddox being just right behind). That's probably why I don't feel like reading Hat Trick (Fake Boyfriend 5), as he'll surely not be pictured in a positive light. Ex-boyfriend status and all... I like Jet but I don't think I'm ready yet.

I fell in love with Eden Finley's work thanks to CU Hockey series - shout out to Saxon James too, they make magic together❤ - and Fake Boyfriend is already one of my favorite M/M series so far. So, diving into Famous series wasn't an option. It was a duty! And I'm so happy right now, I sound like a lunatic 😆
Before beginning, I was slightly apprehensive about the stardom element. Fortunately my doubts were quickly dispelled, as the story unfolded. The stalker plotline built a nice tension that came up when needed. It wasn't overwhelming, so we could concentrate on characters' development, but it put the right amount of pressure to make me tense up at the right time. Add a great pacing to the mix, and you have a winner!
The biggest point was still the characters. The MCs were adorable, each in his own way. Harley was so much more than his façade let out. He was burnt by love and had trouble trusting people, which wasn't very surprising considering his job. His days with Eleven had molded him into the persona he was on-stage and he thought no one could ever see the man behind the mask. But Brix did.
His character was AWESOME - I almost never use the word, but I don't know how to describe this badass of a man better. He was loyal and strong on the outside, but soft when it came to Harley. According to him, Brix was "a hot as fuck boyfriend who’s a big teddy bear on the inside.” *swoon* 🥰 Once again with Eden Finley, the banter was fantastic!
Ryder's story is the next in line and SO curious, because I want to know where his daughter comes from. Well, not technically, you know what I mean 🤣

I was really debating on giving this 4 stars or not, but I eventually figured it just wouldn't be fair. Although I really enjoyed reading this novel, I think a lot of it had to do with me being in the right mood for it. After all, nothing about this book is particularly special, but it's just so.. fun and cute.
And I do really adore this author’s writing style. I already love so many of her books, and this series does not appear to be any different. After reading this, I can already tell I will probably read all of the other books in the 'Famous' series straight after, and I'm genuinely excited about it.
Honestly though, this author seems to have a never-ending supply of sweet, fluffy and fun romance ideas. I do wish that her stories would sometimes have a little bit more drama and angst, as this novel once again had hardly any of that, but she does really rock the whole 'I am so in love with you, and we are literally soulmates' thing without it feeling like insta-love or being just flat out superficial. It always feels sweet and makes me smile.
With this particular book, Harley and Brix are each other’s love-interests, and they were a genuinely good fit together. Harley needs a guy like Brix, and Brix needs a guy like Harley. It works perfectly.
However, I would have loved it if there was a little more tension or pining between them. Everything was pretty smooth-sailing and.. simple.
I was personally a bigger fan of Harley as I found him to be quite funny and sweet with his little quirks, but Brix was, of course, also a total sweetheart. He was just a little bit less developed as a character, which led me to feeling less connected to him. I liked both though, I just enjoyed Harley a lot more.
The setting of this story kind of has two sides to it. It has a music/pop star side (which will continue with Spotlight) and a bodyguard/secret military agency side (which will continue with Iris). Both of these sides were fun, and the mix of the two made sure that there was more variety in the story than there would have otherwise been.
I do think I preferred the bodyguard side the most, and then especially the one concerning the stalker. Near the end, I was genuinely interested in finding out how the stalker was doing everything, and I was really into the whole 'who is the traitor? who can we trust?’ shtick; I actually wouldn't have minded if that was given a little bit more thought and attention throughout the story, but I guess this isn't really supposed to be a mystery or suspense book, so I'm already happy with what we did get.
Long story short, it was a fun book and I enjoyed it plenty.

But all I have to say is I wouldn't mind a Mike Bravo series... just sayin'.

I think MM is the cure to all reading slumps for me. No matter what MM I read, it gets me out of my slump as soon as I finish.
This one was just what I needed, Harley is a Pop Star from a boy band, and Brix is his bodyguard. Can I say I was getting big 1D vibes from Harley being in a boyband (Eleven) that broke up, and the speculations of the members being of various sexual orientations. Loved that aspect!
I really enjoyed reading about the drama that they had to go through, and it wasn't due to them it was outside problems that had them always on the move. I loved how Brix was supportive of Harley no matter what he wanted to do. Brix always knew what would work for Harley to calm him down, and I just loved that.
I also loved the dynamic with Brix and Iris, their bromance at the beginning was great. I wish we got some more of that within the book or at least more with the Mike Bravo team, but this book did a good job of not having random conversations that didn't lead anywhere.
I hope that the next books also have Mike Bravo team in there because I don't want them to disappear from us just yet! They bring the right amount of action in there that keeps you on your toes.
Honestly if you liked Eden's Fake Boyfriend series you'll love this book, it has Harley, who is from Hat Trick, Jay's ex (took me a hot second to figure that out... and when I say that I only realized that because Soren was brought up and I was like, "hold the phone he's from the Fake Boyfriend series!")
Overall a great and fast read! I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an MM romance with action that keeps you hooked from the start!

I really liked this mostly because it was unexpected. Harley was nothing like the standard spoiled pop star he was supposed to be and Brix was definitely far from the macho unapproachable asshole I was expecting him to be. Very refreshing. I would have loved a more solid ending but this worked ok too. I suspect we will see much more of these two

It's a lovely story. Sweet and simple. It was just ok for me because I tend to enjoy a lot of action and intrigue. I thought this one fell quite short on those things.

I actually had a hard time to get into it and warm up with the characters. Don’t get me wrong I liked the whole setting and the charters too but I just had no connection to them at first, which changed slowly through half of the book. I liked the change in the dynamic between Brix and Harley, it was interesting to see their relationship shifting. But for me there was still something missing, it lacked on deeper emotions and all and all in deepness , I didn’t really bought the whole falling in love thing.
I don’t regret reading it but I also wouldn’t pick it up again.

I love Eden Finley's books.
Here she gives the reader a sort of redemption arc narrative with boy band bad boy Harley Valentine, last seen causing "problems" for Jet and Soren in Hat Trick
And I say sort off because Harley wasn't a bad guy at all. The arrogant arse of Hat Trick is really a guy who has no control over his own life because his record label won't let him come out.
Harley's really quite a sensitive guy, someone who isn't really sure about anyone, whether they only like him because he was a boy band star or that he can make shed loads of money for his record label.
So I absolutely adored Brix, his bodyguard turned lover, because he saw underneath the exterior and into the heart which was just itching to have someone think he was enough. And Harley was perfect for Brix, he wants to be able to give up control so he doesn't have to think about the complications of being ex-military, his financial issues, his pressures and responsibilities.
Their snark together was fab, I loved how they bounced off each other with quick wit but also with advice and support which was grounded in solid feelings.
The rest of the MB gang were brilliant and I cannot wait for their stories to come along, especially Iris and Trav, and I'm stoked that Eden's also giving us the stories of the rest of boy band Eleven, starting with Ryder's next.

Usually I'm staying away from books with bodyguards because I know they'll innevitably add a stalker or two to the plot. This time though I couldn't say no because it was a new release by Eden Finley!
If you've read Hat Trick you most likely remember Harley, he was very memorable after all, as Jet's ex. The one with the attitude and all the wrong reactions. He appeared as selfish and arrogant and he made it very difficult to like him. That was just his defence mechanism though and the image he showed to the public in order to protect himself.
In Pop Star we get to know him a lot better and his reactons are very different. Here, it becomes clear that he's just a lonely guy, trapped by his contract, that has never been free to experience the world.
When a fan breaks into his home he changes his mind about needing a bodyguard and that's when Brix enters the story.
Brix is ex-military, he's quiet, stoic and makes Harley feel safe.
He's part of a firm called Mike Bravo and he becomes the Pop Star's bodyguard 24/7 six days a week. Sunday is his day off and he's always spending it the same way, though no one seems to know what he does.
Harley and Brix begin developing a connection before either of them realised it, mainly based on proximity. As the days pass though and they get to know each other better they start to genuinely care about the other and their attraction becomes a deeper one.
What I didn't like in this book is the stalker sub-plot. I know it's the thing that made this whole story happen but I think it went a bit too far as we got closer to the end. I guess there had to be a peak for the story, but I would have been much happier if it wasn't that one.
Some of the other members of Eleven made quick appearances here. I think that if not all then most of them will get their own story, as will some of the Mike Bravo team. I can't wait to read those books!
There's also a surprise appearance in the book - okay it's kind of expected but it was still great!
I was a bit sad when the Fake Boyfriend series came to an end but learning what comes next from this author makes it a little better. Either way, I still hope there'll be more from the old characters in the future!

This did not work for me in any kind of way. I disliked Harvey with passion in Hat Trick, and I was expecting to like him better in this book. Or you now, at least at the end of the book. But no. I still dislike Harvey. He's still whiny and unlikeable. Sure, he's not as selfish as he seemed in Hat Trick. But definitely unlikable. And Brix deserved so much more than Harvey.I liked Brix so very much. The two stars are all for him. The gentle badass teddy bear.
The overall feeling I got from this book was that it felt silly. Harvey was silly, the intrigue felt silly. The drama felt silly. And I had absolutely zero, and I mean zero understanding for Harvey's reason to staying in the closet. In fact I was extremely let down by that story arc. I expected more. But got nothing. Such an anti climax. Then again, I don't really have any patience for closeted Mc's.
It was probably me but I felt that the pacing was a bit off. The big, final scene with the stalker happened way too late in the story, I think about 90% in, which left the ending feeling rushed. It was also solved too easily.
I guess my expectations was too high.
This did not work for me in any kind of way. I disliked Harvey with passion in Hat Trick, and I was expecting to like him better in this book. Or you now, at least at the end of the book. But no. I still dislike Harvey. He's still whiny and unlikeable. Sure, he's not as selfish as he seemed in Hat Trick. But definitely unlikable. And Brix deserved so much more than Harvey.I liked Brix so very much. The two stars are all for him. The gentle badass teddy bear.
The overall feeling I got from this book was that it felt silly. Harvey was silly, the intrigue felt silly. The drama felt silly. And I had absolutely zero, and I mean zero understanding for Harvey's reason to staying in the closet. In fact I was extremely let down by that story arc. I expected more. But got nothing. Such an anti climax. Then again, I don't really have any patience for closeted Mc's.
It was probably me but I felt that the pacing was a bit off. The big, final scene with the stalker happened way too late in the story, I think about 90% in, which left the ending feeling rushed. It was also solved too easily.
I guess my expectations was too high.

This is basically Harry Styles fanfiction. I mean, come on, his name is HARRY STENCH. He’s from a broken up boy band called ELEVEN. But lucky for me I love Harry Styles and One Direction so I ate this shit up.
Harley and Brix were great characters. Harley is an anxious baby who kind of sucks at everything except being a musician which is adorable. Brix is the giant ex-military man hired to keep him safe after a scare with a crazed fan. Then they slowly become each other’s only friend and then more. It was sickly sweet.
I love that the big body guard was such a power bottom. I was absolutely living for that dynamic. And little Harley becoming dominant in the bedroom. Oof, the spice was spicing.
There were just so many sweet moments. I loved everything to do with Brix’s dad. Harley is gonna be the best son-in-law. Also the Nerf scene. Despite the plot, this book was relatively low-angst and all fluff.
Honorable mention to Jet Jackson! It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that Harley’s ex, Jay, was JJ from Fake Boyfriend. To be fair, I haven’t read Hat Trick yet. As soon as they mentioned Soren it all clicked finally. This keeps happening to me, which is what I get for reading way out of order. Oh well.

This was really good, I really enjoyed it.
Harley is Jay's ex from the 5th book of the Hat Trick series, and we get to see a side of him we didn't get to see from that book.
Harley is arguably the most famous of his band, Eleven, that broke up a year and a half before the start of this, and with that fame can come some stalkers.
Such as after a show when Harley is home and one invades his home and almost hurts him.
After that, Harley agrees to getting a bodyguard, as his privacy has been violated and he doesn't feel safe in his own home anymore.
In comes Brix, a former military man who works for Trav, the head of a company called Mike Bravo, that works in some unsavory types of cases that might involve killing and the like...except this is a special case, with Gideon, Harley's manager, being Trav's cousin who calls in a special favor.
Brix and Harley have a connection right away, except Harley seemingly has a fiance and is still in the closet, controlled by his record label.
When the stalker ups the ante and continues to threaten Harley, things come to a head, with Brix always there to protect Harley.
My only slight gripe with this is that Harley didn't come out by the end of this and wasn't free of his lable yet, although he was on his way to being free of them. Who knows if and when he would come out, although at least he wasn't scared of it by the end and was more "if people find out, oh well" about it. But he isn't going to say anything on his own either, and that bothered me a little. But also, Brix wouldn't be able to effectively be his bodyguard...but also they can't be together how they want to be at the same time, so it left be frustrated.
But other than that, I enjoyed this immensely. At times I wish the sex scenes had been a little less rushed, but they were good and fun. These two were great together.
Overall, I enjoyed this and definitely recommend it. I can't wait for more in this series, as now we're going to get the other members of this band's love stories. Can't wait!

Enjoyable with some nice moments, but still predictable. I’m not really that interested in reading about any of the other members of “Eleven”, the former boy band who look to be the subjects of this series...BUT...give me a book about Trav and the other badass members of Mike Bravo and I would eat it up with a spoon and lick the bowl.
Bodyguard tropes are popular for a reason but they usually suffer from characters who are totally crap at being a bodyguard once their dick starts to twitch. Brix is not that character. He’s totally capable, rational and makes smart decisions. And the rest of his team are the stars here who have the potential to set some kindles on fire. That’s why this one gets 3 stars - I was more interested in the secondary characters.

I fell asleep a couple times trying to finish this. Not very eventful or exciting. Some cute moments, I liked both MC’s ok but plot didn’t keep me interested enough. I’ll try and finish the series only because audiobooks are available for free on audiobook. Sorry this review isn’t helpful but I was struggling

I’m not sure what it is about Eden Finley, but I end up loving all of her books. This is the story of Harley and Brix and it was an incredibly funny and charming one to read.
I found Brix’s chapters to be very refreshing. He’s an ‘army brat’, but he’s not the stereotypical super macho. Sure, he wants to take everything in his own shoulders and be big and strong, but his character was softer and felt more real than the usual army types in books.
I’m not big on celebrity books and to be honest that’s not why I went into this one either, it was all because of Eden. Nevertheless, it was actually a really interesting dive into celebrity culture and artistic freedom.
