Another book about Sofia and one that basically uses the same concept as the other book I have read - recycling old Disney to combine with new Disney while dragging a Disney princess into the book. What a horrible formula and one that makes me glad I am not intrigued into exploring this series in more depth.

In this particular telling Sofia has settled in with her new family and they seem to be getting along just peachy with even Amber still looking like she is about to pounce on the next person over still. As they prepare for a magical feast a new sorceress appears while outcharming most of the royal family and almost shoving out the court sorcerer with her magical high aptitude. But along with Snow White's punctual advice can Sofia just figure out why this stranger is giving her the willies?

The names used in this book such as the Morpho Mirrors and the fact that a mirror image cannot be differentiated from a real live person saps the creativity of the author on this telling. And furthermore the two looks of the villain are recycled appearances that will make any old Disney fan just shake their head that nothing new comes from modern Disney.

Young girls may enjoy this Disney telling, especially if they are fans of this show, but I think I will just slowly and quietly push this series to the side now.

This was only second book that I've read (to my Granddaughter) from this Series of books. But, this one I did not finish at all.. It is very important to be very mindful with the things that are read to children. Or, introduce to them, as adults. With children books, I pay very close attention to the play with words and, how the words are articulated throughout books.. Especially, during these times. With noticing these words in this book: sorceress, scepter, conjures, etc. I understood this book was not for me to continue reading to my Granddaughter. The mirrors also reveal the concept of the book. However, I did enjoy the other book that I read. Especially the vibrant colored pictures.

This picture book also follows the events of one of the TV episodes, featuring a visit from Snow White when Sofia can't shake the feeling something is wrong with this Sascha the Sorceress. Thankfully, Sofia keeps her wits about her and is able to use Mr. Cedric's fun mirror trick to save the day - at least for now.

2 points for the lesson on trusting your gut when someone doesn't feel safe. Otherwise the writing wasn't great and we aren't interesting in surrounding our daughter with princess stories. This gift will be passed on.

This book was ok. I enjoyed the story, but the writing was different and the pictures were not very good. The story also left out much of the story from the TV show, and there were many changes that could have been made to make it better.

This is a short children’s story about trusting your feelings and instincts. It also teaches the lesson about talking to adults you can trust if you get a bad feeling about someone, using a visit from Snow White to help bring that lesson home to young readers. The feast mentioned could also be equated to our celebration of Thanksgiving for another teaching moment for children. A good story to start a discussion about strangers with your children!

Pienemmät ja isommat prinsessafanit tykkäävät Prinsessa Sofia -kirjoista. Tässä tarinassa Sofialla on paha aavistus vieraasta, josta muu perhe näyttää olevan haltioissaan. Prinsessa Lumikki rientää Avalorin amuletin avulla Sofian avuksi.

Tässä lasten kuvakirjassa oli mielestäni oikein loistava opetus; kaikki eivät ole aina sitä miltä näyttävät, eikä kaikkien yltiöpäiset lahjat ole annettu hyvässä tarkoituksessa.

The third in a series. Are these animated TV shows? This one features Snow White and the theme, "people aren't always what they seem." We finally learn the name of her Sofia's step brother - three books later.

I rarely give books low scores, but this book was not my cup of tea. We won't be reading any more of these books. I'm not down with witchcraft. I'm noticing most of the children books/YA books are geared towards sorcery. I'll pass. Thanks, great! :)

Cute book for the 3-5 year old girl-child crowd - especially if your name is Hadley SOPHIA. My granddaughter loves the Sofia series.
