The Law of the Offerings

Rate this book
Andrew Jukes (1815-1901) traces the typical significance of the offerings described in the opening chapters of the book of Leviticus, relating them to Christ’s sacrificial offering of Himself on Calvary. Reading this book will deepen your appreciation of all that Christ did on behalf of His people as the application of all the details is carefully explored. Some may find the style a little stilted, but perseverance will be amply rewarded. Perhaps no other portion of Scripture illustrates as many facets of Calvary as this. First published in 1848, this edition has been completely re-typeset for issue as an eBook. Hebrew words in the text have been transliterated and the number corresponding to their entry in Strong’s Concordance given alongside. Greek characters have been retained.

Read it almost 30 years ago. I remember it as, at the time, one of the most profound and spiritual books I had ever read. It made the Old Testament, particularly the Book of Leviticus, applicable to my daily life and walk as a Christian. It opened to the eyes of my understanding many an obscure passage. It made me hunger more and to be more thirsty for righteousness. It was a book I so treasured that I still have the same copy I read almost 30 years ago on my shelf today; and, as I was reading this morning from Leviticus, my thoughts went back to this book, and I pulled it down from the shelf to peruse its contents once again.

This might be the best book this year! I know the Bible; I teach Bible: this explains Christ's Sacrifice, why we had to have it, why the Tabernacle and Temple sacrifices were and why they're not! I've never understood as I do now. I seldom say this: I highly recommend it!
