An enjoyable reading experience as always (minus the bedroom scenes that I skipped). I appreciated an h who was raised by a Korean grandmother. I found the slightly older woman with a younger man (by three years) dynamic fun. What I didn't find fun, however, was the fact that H kept claiming that he had an 8 or 9 year plan to make a move on the h, all the while dating and sleeping with OW. I mean, that just makes it seem like he's 1) insincere, 2) a womanizer who can't be faithful to his supposed love, or 4) an insincere womanizer. I guess I have a hard time buying his proclamations of true love.

Favorite Quote:
“There was a need for closure, and it was more or less universal. That was why cliffhangers were always resolved, why people gritted their teeth and slogged all the way to the last page of books they weren’t enjoying, why quitters were reviled by society.”

My Review:
I have no complaints about Nadia Lee, none, nada, zilch. I enjoy her work start to finish. Every piece has been well written, steamy, vivid in detail, and well depicted. I am only sad that I have run out of stories, I have read them all, I now understand and empathize with Kathy Bates’ character in Misery, who held her favorite author as a hostage and required him to write more sequels. Who wouldn’t want a Pete in their life, a handsome, intelligent, funny, and successful man who has been carrying a torch for 8 years? Eight years! That alone signifies this is pure fantasy, as no man is that patient. This novella matches the title, it is sweet but unfortunately short, I was so sad to see it end.

I liked that the heroine is older than the hero - and that Brooke's background of Korean and Italian isn't just lip service. She's a bit uncertain, but I actually found that pretty realistic for someone her age in THIS current time, and that was nice.

What I didn't love as much was ... Pete. So sure, he's perfect and successful and a genius and blahblah has been mad for Brooke forever ...

but I guess it's not even Pete so much as the romance. They hook up *once* and he just... moves in. Talk about rushing things in that I don't think the book really developed an actual relationship - that it just happened (way too suddenly and easily to be believable) but if you suspend the disbelief it's ok.

... I just couldn't suspend that much disbelief.

I liked the characters well enough, and the secondary characters - I think it was the juxtaposition of some major things being glossed over, and the extreme detail - such as the scene where Brooke and Pete go to church - with Brooke's run in with one of the "matrons."

I'm curious about the other books though, so we'll see.

The Millionaire's Crush is book 3.5 in the Seduced by the Billionaire's series. This is Brooke and Pete's story (Amandine's best friend and brother from book 3). It was previously published under the titles Sweet in Love, and Romanced by Her Illicit Millionaire Crush. This is a shorter book and moves pretty quickly. I enjoyed Pete's determination in his pursuit of Brooke. I was surprised however at all of Brooke's insecurities. In Book 3, she was portrayed as this straight shooter, sort of hard core girl who knew her mind and what she wanted in life. In this story, she was pretty much unsure about everything. She put her dreams aside, because she didn't think she could really make them come true. She didn't believe Pete wanted her for more than sex and that her family and friends would be disappointed in her if she did something "out of the norm". That Pete was confident enough for the both of them and pushed her to step outside of the boundaries that she had put herself in, just made him more endearing. This is one of those books that will have you smiling from beginning to end.

Another great story

In 1990 the San Francisco chronicle wrote a story saying a 30 year old single woman was more likely to be struck by lightning than get married. My friends and I were 29 year old single women. I met my 25 year old husband that year. Married him five years later and now we're celebrating 30 years of marriage. He's my best friend still after 35 years. I'm older then his older brother and he's younger than my younger brother. Age isn't what is important. It is the person. It isn't opposites either. It is the person that completes you and makes you better in every way. I enjoyed this read and am sure many of you will too.

I also booked Mark the page Brook's dad says you don't need a piece of paper to do a job. You need the desire and drive to be successful. Of course that doesn't go for doctors. But look at all the young computer scientist. They have good jobs and no student debt.

This is Romanced By Her Illicit Millionaire Crush written by Nadia Lee. Brooke is Amandine's best friend and works for her. Pete is Amandine's younger brother. Pete has been in love with Brooke since they were much younger and has spent the last eight years trying to get to the point in his career and life that he can go back and sweep Brooke off of her feet. Well, the time has come and he starts to pursue her. Brooke can't get past the fact that Pete is her boss's younger brother. Can Pete pull off the seduction and convince Brooke to give them a chance? Will she always look at him as "the younger brother"? I think that her very first time to lay eyes on him in eight long years is very telling of the future. Besides, he is freaking hot!

There’s just no drama at all. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) went completely well and super fast.

If you like fluffy romance books with 0 obstacles on it you’re gonna love it. If you’re like me and you need a little drama to spice things off you’re gonna be very disappointed. The whole plot of the book was supposed to be the age difference and the fact he was her bff’s brother and how would they sort that out at the end but non of thing were actually discussed beside some little mentions here and there.

I honestly expected more. Beside the lack of drama I think they work well as a couple with great chemistry and some scenes were really cute

I thought this book was Sweet and to the point.
I loved the characters.
Pete is a guy that knows what he wants! What he wants is Brooke. He goes right for it too.
Brooke is kinda hesitate at first but she can't resist the attraction she feels for Pete. What girl could? Especially when it's a sexy fine as hell man that knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it.
This is FIVE SWEET STARS for me!!!!!

Aww Pete. Such a sweet story. Pete has loved Brooke since high school and now as an adult he is ready to make that claim. Wish there could have been a bit more or epilogue but cute story.

Believing and doubting

This is a pleasant story that brings friends back together. Believing in oneself doesn't always mean that there isn't doubt. One is secure in his life plan and one doubts her choices and abilities.

A short but sweet addition to the series. There's not much angst just a bit of insecurity and everything is quickly resolved.

EIGHT YEARS – he waited for EIGHT LONG YEARS! The length of time is evidence enough to show Brooke that Pete is totally in love with her. But the fact remains that he is her best friend’s baby brother, and is three years younger than her.

Eight years ago, they had this HOT make out session that had her tied in knots, but being older than him, and considering the friendship she has with his sister, she decided to build a wall between them. She thought he got a hint, oh he did, but he decided to wait, to grow up, to become successful before he made his move.

It took eight years for him to finally make the effort – and by effort, I mean really, really determined actions to show Brooke he was no longer the young lanky boy she made out with. He was a man, who had a whole lot more to offer, starting with his heart. All he needed to do was to be patient and persuade her to finally see him. He wasn’t going to make her say no this time!

I fell in love with this novel, it was a short, sweet, and yes, hot read. I fell in love with both characters. Pete may be young, but he loved her immensely, and brings out the best in Brooke. He wants her to follow her passion rather than settling on what she has right now. As for Brooke, I get that she was a little scared to take the risk with all the circumstances surrounding them, but heck, the risk was so worth it!

This is my first read from Hearts on the Line series, and I must admit – it went well, it made me want to read the rest of the series. If the novella had me head over heels and swooning, what more a novel-length story?

I found this book to be a sweet, simple love story. No real angst, tension or drama. Pete, who is Amandine’s brother, and Brooke, her best friend, have finally found their way back together after 8 years. Pete works for his brother in law, Brooke is her best friends assistant, but an event back when the two were kids have kept them apart all these years.
Pete decides it is time to make his move on Brooke and while she is not sure she can overcome the embarrassment of the past, she agrees to go out with him. We watch as they reconnect and find a new beginning for the two of them.
I didn’t find the same intensity to this story as I have found in the authors prior books, I also appreciated that this was a quick easy read after the drama from Amandine’s book. While it isn’t the drama filled page to page entertainment that some love, I think there is value in a quick first love story. We were invited to see more of Brooke's family and the acceptance they offered her and Pete. I really adore her father when he was talking about losing his wife and smoking.
Both characters were already known by the readers in the prior books so the author didn’t use a ton of space and pages giving us hidden details that we didn’t know before. It was a very fast and smooth read, only took me a couple of hours and was a great escape for me after some of the intense books I had been reading. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a book that will give you a couple of hours of entertainment without the heavy plots, twist and turns that keep your mind racing.

I enjoyed reading how Pete love Brooke and find all of his romantic gestures truly lovable. This story showed how a man in love showed his feelings through actions. I like how Pete built his life to prepare for the life he wanted to give Brooke. For once, it's not about playboy billionaires who became good boys for their love ones but about a guy who've been in love for a girl in forever and worked hard to deserve her love. It's nice to see how he conveyed his feelings for Brooke as well as how Brooke slowly change his view of Pete from a bestfriend's brother to a man.

I was touched when Pete took time to get to know what Brooke really wanted to be and help her achieved it. For me that was the best thing he ever did for Brooke. The whole story was actually great except for the way it ended. I was kind of hoping to see Brooke actually realized those dreams of her and succeed. It felt like the author left me in the middle where things are just starting to get good and voila it's the end already. I think it was necessary to have that dreams achieved for me to say that Brooke did have a happy ending. It was implied in the story but I was just hoping to actually read about it and that disappointed me a little. Aside from that, I'd say I enjoyed watching Pete work his way to Brooke's heart.

So I love Pete. Let me repeat that I love Pete. He waited so long to try to win Brooke's heart. After their chance moment in high school and Brooke pushes him away, Pete tries to make himself someone Brooke would see as an adult. Not his sister's younger brother. But as Pete someone who loves her, supports her and can take care of her.

After 8 years, Pete bucks up the courage to call Brooke and ask her to dinner. Brooke is hesitant at first but relents. She finds herself attracted to Pete and enjoying herself with him. The talking and being together is natural. So Pete tries again the next night and continues. He even is upfront with her about wanting to live with her. She laughs it off but his logic wins out. They don't move in together but it was a point where Pete was able to get Brooke to open her eyes and see Pete as Pete. Pete even supports and encourages her to follow her dream. For the first time, Brooke has a guy who sees her and likes her for her. And the relationship is easy and natural. It isn't until she defends him that Brooke realizes she loves him too.

A fun easy read that will put a smile to your face as you watch Pete wear Brooke down and see him for who he is and fall in love with him.

Sweet but a bit short to allow for the full potential of the characters to be revealed, and for their development to look realistic and not only remain whimsical.
A bit disappointing to me in comparison with the other books, as it remained much lighter.
Nevertheless enjoyable, especially for readers already accustomed to the series and thus the secondary characters.

This is a nice novella. Hero has been crazy about his big sister's best friend for years and finally decides it's time to make his move. He was so damn cute and supportive and encouraging. I like there was just a tad bit of "will it be weird if I date my BFF's sibling" angst but not enough to be ridiculous. And everyone's reaction is pretty much "no, it's not weird, go for it."

This book was short. This book's story line was boring & the characters were boring too. I liked reading about Amandine & that's it. I love NadIa Lee's books, but this one wasn't for me.
