Good and evil play their game to determine whether or not humanity gets a second chance or not, and their pawns are the living and the dead in Adrian's world.
ALPA and Westfield have buried the hatchet and formed a strong alliance, both their settlements safe for a time and growing slowly. It's so safe Adrian has even found the time to find a new kind of love with Mallory. All is well.
But when evil plays the game, it plays for keeps, and the greatest move of all requires the movement of a piece very close to Adrian.
And when Adrian is betrayed by someone he loves, the whole world may suffer the consequences of his Wrath.
Wrath, Book Five of the AUD epic brings a whole new vision of the apocalypse to the story. Good and evil speak out for better or worse in Providence and Dream a Little Dream, and perhaps worst of all, in A Traitor's Death, Adrian's will to go on might be shattered for good.
I am the creator and author of Tesser: A Dragon Among Us as well as Elmoryn's The Kinless Trilogy, Colony Lost, Adrian's Undead Diary and the Darkness of Diggory Finch.
I've gone to a LOT of college. I've got a Business degree as well as a Psychology degree, and I've done the full program at the school of hard knocks. I've been a printing press operator, bouncer, purchasing agent, bodyguard, customer service representative, mental health counselor, and more. I can write about weird shit because I've done weird shit. Trust me.
I call the wonderful state of New Hampshire my home, but I love to travel. I love to read, write, play role playing games, miniatures games, video games, and Magic: The Gathering. When I find the time to be active, I like to hike, play basketball, and play football. I am married to a wonderful woman, and together we have two wonderful daughters.
Wrath is the fifth book in the Adrian's Undead Diary series, and to date, it is Chris Philbrook's most intense and emotional book. The first four books have hinted to a spiritual subplot, and let me tell you, Wrath answers many questions that have been jumbling around in my brain (and my previous reviews).
If you have been reading along with The Bookie Monster, you won't want to skip this one. The significance of the number three is revealed, and the players are making their way to the chess board like the pawns they are. Adrian's role is now clear, and some shocking saboteurs have been named. Loved ones, both to Adrian and readers, are lost in the epic and ongoing battle of good vs. evil.
Readers will be given insight into the Trinity; as some of it's members, and hints are given at an end game to come. Adrian has been named as the scribe, big shocker, right? Michelle, being led to parts unknown by a dead boy from Africa, will be the savior. But who or what will she save? Wrath will leave readers to pontificate who will penned as the Warden. I definitely have my guess in place. Do you?
Wrath will toy with your emotions, and if by now you're invested in the story, it's quite possible you may shed a tear or two as you read this installment. Have no fear, readers will still have plenty of gut-busting laughs, and will send Adrian a telepathic fist-bump as he finally gets 'some'. The Adrian's Undead Diary series is a must read for anyone who loves a great zombie tale, some good raunchy humor, and intense action. There will be no stopping this reader from finding out what happens next, even if I have to jump into Philbrook's brain and tear it apart to find out!
I like to be consistent in being the first person to write a review for my stuff.
I think when folks read AUD, they are most affected by the storyline that culminates in Wrath. Book Five is huge. Simply huge. Many main characters find themselves overwhelmed fatally by danger, and there are more than one casualty, both physically, and emotionally.
I teared up writing this book, and when the big stuff in it was posted, I received insane amounts of feedback on how emotional it was.
If anything in the AUD series deserves five stars, I think it's Wrath.
"I've got wrath to attend to" When you read those words, you will feel power of those words. When Adrian puts boot to door, you will feel his wrath. The heartbreak is deep, and joys short lived. Yet, there is faith. I think this is the best book of the series, and there is more to come!
First and foremost, this is a review of the fifth book in a series. Please do yourself a favor and listen to those first as this review may contain spoilers to them.
I have already written a lot about what makes Adrian’s Undead Diary Book such a great series, and I am happy so say that Wrath (Book 5) does not disappoint.
I think this is the book that I was told will bring me to tears, well, it didn’t. Maybe I am such a jaded person and listening to countless zombie audiobook has totally desensitized me. However I think I know where the point that this would have happened and, because you have listened this far you are invested in all of the characters, it was brutal.
I really got scared when the book started to add a strange spiritual, almost religious, line to the story. Often time this can ruin thing. It did not. Good versus evil, the devil and his minions (the zombies) against God and his singular warrior (Adrian). I must have missed all of the clues in the previous books.
Sadly I cannot say much about this installment as it is too easy to give stuff away, and if you have read the other books you have probably already read or are going to read this one. Yes, this series is the fun and good.
Philbrook has figured out the secret to successful stories. Make the characters seem so real, so unforgettable, so likeable or lovable, so hateable, that people have no choice in the matter of buying all your books.
Pair that with a narrator that gives his heart and soul to his performance, like James Foster does and you have an instant hit within this genre.
If for some reason you have listened to the other books in this series and have been humming and hawing about continuing on with the story, not sure why one would even hesitate, do you self a favor and grab this one, devour it and pace back and forth until the next book is released on audio.
I am destroyed! Totally undone. I finished earlier this morning but needed to cry a good cry. OMG! I did not see that coming though there was always something a wee bit off. This book in the series really rocked me. I knew it would be something but wow. Just freaking WOW. Anyone who is reading this review, if you haven't read this series, seriously buy it or borrow it but read it. If you haven't read a zombie apocalypse book but are curious because you got sucked into the tv show, The Walking Dead, you will like this series. It is amazing. Totally worth double the 5 stars I can give it.
This is the 5th book in the series and the hits keep coming. The group find others and they're not always good people. There are now more people at the campus but unfortunately some lives have been lost. After another terrifying zombie attack, the group work their butts off building fences and securing their home against further attacks by zombies or waste of skin survivors. What a shocking last chapter with a betrayal that tears your heart out. Now on to book 6.
I am super duper loving this series...this one was the best so far!! It was a bit sadder than the other books, and it explained a lot of unanswered questions...and things that were making me go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? Totally still crushing on Adrian!!! and am moving on to #6 now, its actually already in my ears....lol
These books should be read in the order they are written. This is the 5th in the series. More of the same, as I have described before.
For now I will continue to read this series. It is holding my interest. This particular book was a bit sad...I don't mean the writing, I mean what happens in the book
You know you have found a good author when you are waiting for the next book to come out. This is the 5th book in this series and it did not disappoint. I enjoy the way this is done as a series of journal entries, and there were plenty of twists in this latest installment. The way Chris lays out that mankind is full of good and evil - and that our choices can affect not just you but many others hits hard in this chapter. There are more people coming to the campus and others are lost to treachery. The addition of God VS The Devil did not detract from the story, and I am interested in seeing where it goes next…. Is Adrian strong enough for all of us or will he break under the strain…. Time will tell .
again the story/plot exceeds the execution of the prose - i wish the author didn't feel the need to invoke the weird religious explanation - cosmic battles over the fate of humanity - it suffers from explanation - there are just zombies - who knows why, how do surviviors respond? makes more sense - at least to me - it doesn't take agency away from humans or zombies.
Well i finished this in about a day so i think i may like it. I like where this is going despite the supernatural aspects. Curious to see where this goes. I do question why the "scribe" and other main characters are white, given the human population's demographics at the start of the story. It doesn't ruin the story for me but does make me question why more cultures aren't explicitly included in the main group of characters. Still enjoying the story and interested to see the conclusion but the global nature and supernatural aspects leave me questioning "why only them And not some random other person in Eurasia, Africa or South America?".
This book! This book! Oh Gilbert you poor man! My heart just broke for you! Trying to save the ppl you love 😭 I can't imagine the pain and emotions you went through! I love series like this you fall in love with the characters and get to know them! On to bk.6 to see how everyone is handling the new....

Bit better than the previous two. Less "Mr. Journal" (though still there in places) and more action. Not a big fan of the supernatural stuff though and the baddies could have been written a bit less cartoonishly.
Again a really brilliant story! I do love Adrian, I think! A great end of the world with zombies, lightly amusing through out, but with some rip roaring laughter spread through out! Brilliant! I will say it again, what more could you want from a zombie adventure! I do recommend!
This book really kicked the story into high gear. The chapters that jump into other characters finally felt like plot accelerators instead of story breaks.
I have so much I want to say in this entry, but I'm too emotional. I'll just have to cut it short this time, Mr. Diary. It's intense. It's a rollercoaster. It's... a lot.
